After a lone branch of Tendon Akimitsu here in 30th Mall for a long time, there are now three other locations in Metro Manila. Stand-alone Tempura restaurants are indeed growing.
I had lunch here today with my parents, and I found Tendon Akimitsu’s Ebi Tempura packed with tiger prawn, no shortcuts. I was also able to eat it without the need for dipping sauce.
The serving of Salmon Sashimi was quite generous for the price tag. I wasn’t able to finish it up. My mom enjoyed her Kani Salad, though it was dry at first. The staff willingly arranged for more dressing.
I will definitely back here in the future for Japanese cravings. They do have quite a menu as well for none Tendon dishes.
I'd been craving sushi and sashimi for a while now, and seeing it on their menu, I gave their salmon sashimi and Aburi Salmon Maki a try.
The sashimi was fine, although, I think I would have preferred the slices just a little thinner, as they were quite thick.
As for the Aburi Salmon Maki, I found myself confused by the topping of canned fruit straight out of a fruit cocktail and picked them all off after trying one, which added unnecessary sweetness to the roll.
It was definitely better without the canned fruit pieces and a splash of soy (and wasabi snagged off my sashimi plate) I was able to up the savory flavor again.
The servers were friendly, attentive and prompt, although, I did have to take care of seating myself instead of a server or hostess seating me.
As I'm not a huge fan of tempura and deep fried foods, I'll likely try their ramen next time - as they share the premises with Ramen Nagi.
They serve mostly tempura in the menu. We tried the mixed tempura, squid tempura, and ebi tempura. Quite good and fresh. Service is also good and fast. There are also other dishes like the Spicy Tuna Sashimi which is quite great.
Together with ramen nagi, the restaurant had really good choices!!! The price also made it worth it! Got the soba set for less than PHP400, definitely kept me full the whole day 😊
Usually order sides here when we have ramen at Ramen Nagi. They share the same area and staff and you get the menu for both restaurants when you are seated.
I've only tried their rolls and sashimi. Serving size is good, ingredients are fresh, and flavors are great. 👌🏽Will try their house specials soon.
What I loved:
Tendon Akimitsu shares the same space as Ramen Nagi, and i'm in luck because I was not in the mood for ramen and my boyfriend and food buddy is adamant to try it for the first time.
I flipped the menu (literally!) and found other interesting food choices. I am allergic to shrimp so I settled for their rolls. I loved their Aburi Salmon Maki, with interesting flavors that complemented the salmon. I also liked the balance of the rice and other ingredients. It's a bit pricey, but worth every cent.
I liked their kani salad as well-- good food, big serving!
Good! From the makers of Ranen Nagi, this is an okay contender vs. Yabu, though this focuses more on tempura-style rather than katsu. Taste is good and serving time is quick, very efficient! Got the tempura set.
Serving time is ok. Ordered mixed tempura (more like mixed veggies lol) but we enjoyed it I just think it's a litte pricy. The staff were attentive and the ambience is fine. I still think I would come back to bring new friends along.

The taste was basic Japanese comfort food that would probably appeal to anyone.
As for the quality of ingredients, they were mediocre and matched the price point. Same with service.
I can't really say it was great, at the same time, it wasn't bad. It is what it is, Japanese comfort food.
