After a lone branch of Tendon Akimitsu here in 30th Mall for a long time, there are now three other locations in Metro Manila. Stand-alone Tempura restaurants are indeed growing.
I had lunch here today with my parents, and I found Tendon Akimitsu’s Ebi Tempura packed with tiger prawn, no shortcuts. I was also able to eat it without the need for dipping sauce.
The serving of Salmon Sashimi was quite generous for the price tag. I wasn’t able to finish it up. My mom enjoyed her Kani Salad, though it was dry at first. The staff willingly arranged for more dressing.
I will definitely back here in the future for Japanese cravings. They do have quite a menu as well for none Tendon dishes.
I'd been craving sushi and sashimi for a while now, and seeing it on their menu, I gave their salmon sashimi and Aburi Salmon Maki a try.
The sashimi was fine, although, I think I would have preferred the slices just a little thinner, as they were quite thick.
As for the Aburi Salmon Maki, I found myself confused by the topping of canned fruit straight out of a fruit cocktail and picked them all off after trying one, which added unnecessary sweetness to the roll.
It was definitely better without the canned fruit pieces and a splash of soy (and wasabi snagged off my sashimi plate) I was able to up the savory flavor again.
The servers were friendly, attentive and prompt, although, I did have to take care of seating myself instead of a server or hostess seating me.
As I'm not a huge fan of tempura and deep fried foods, I'll likely try their ramen next time - as they share the premises with Ramen Nagi.
They serve mostly tempura in the menu. We tried the mixed tempura, squid tempura, and ebi tempura. Quite good and fresh. Service is also good and fast. There are also other dishes like the Spicy Tuna Sashimi which is quite great.
Together with ramen nagi, the restaurant had really good choices!!! The price also made it worth it! Got the soba set for less than PHP400, definitely kept me full the whole day 😊
Usually order sides here when we have ramen at Ramen Nagi. They share the same area and staff and you get the menu for both restaurants when you are seated.
I've only tried their rolls and sashimi. Serving size is good, ingredients are fresh, and flavors are great. 👌🏽Will try their house specials soon.
What I loved:
Tendon Akimitsu shares the same space as Ramen Nagi, and i'm in luck because I was not in the mood for ramen and my boyfriend and food buddy is adamant to try it for the first time.
I flipped the menu (literally!) and found other interesting food choices. I am allergic to shrimp so I settled for their rolls. I loved their Aburi Salmon Maki, with interesting flavors that complemented the salmon. I also liked the balance of the rice and other ingredients. It's a bit pricey, but worth every cent.
I liked their kani salad as well-- good food, big serving!
Good! From the makers of Ranen Nagi, this is an okay contender vs. Yabu, though this focuses more on tempura-style rather than katsu. Taste is good and serving time is quick, very efficient! Got the tempura set.
Serving time is ok. Ordered mixed tempura (more like mixed veggies lol) but we enjoyed it I just think it's a litte pricy. The staff were attentive and the ambience is fine. I still think I would come back to bring new friends along.

The taste was basic Japanese comfort food that would probably appeal to anyone.
As for the quality of ingredients, they were mediocre and matched the price point. Same with service.
I can't really say it was great, at the same time, it wasn't bad. It is what it is, Japanese comfort food.
The Lenten season is upon is which means we have to give up a few things we regularly indulge like juicy beef, chicken, and pork. Fear not, there are places around that satisfy your cravings without going off the rails. Tendon Akimitsu in Ayala Malls the 30th has what it takes to make your Lenten season taste good! [Read More]

Price- Hmm, got 50%off from eatigo so for me “Sulit” but if without the discount, There are better Japanese Restaurants with the same price range ✌🏻peace yow!
Was invited to try Tendon Akimitsu for their social media shoot and got to try a whole lot of items from their menu. The ebi tempura was perfectly done: light and crispy batter that isn't too thick with a well-made dipping sauce. A surprise highlight for me though was the maki they offered! I got to try first the spicy salmon maki, which was decent but personally not my favorite because it had too much sesame seed.
What truly floored me however was the ebi tempura maki and the aburi salmon maki. For the price point of 300+, it's definitely on the pricey side, but the serving size and the explosion of flavor is most definitely worth it. I loved the balance of all the flavors, from the fish to the cheese, the sauce, and the fruit jelly on top. I was honestly nervous to try it because it seemed to have had so much going on but every piece was amazing. I'm even dreaming about it as I type this.
Would definitely go back for this!
Appreciated the prawn heads being included in the Ebi Tempura set. Good Miso Soup and the Spicy Tuna Maki Roll is wayyy better than the ones in nearby Japanese Restaurants (Ortigas CBD). The crunchy bits on top were just a little bit stale but it can pretty much be shrugged off considering the reasonable price.
We often think of prawns when we hear the word "tempura", but did you know that anything you can batter and fry can actually be called a tempura? . Tempura is a very common yet incredibly loved dish in the country. In fact, it is so loved that you might not even be able to snag a few pieces of tempura at a buffet restaurant; not even if they just refilled the tray. But to be honest, if you really want to have some tempura, there are a lot of Japanese restaurants you can count on, and one of the best ones I've had so far is Tendon Akimitsu.
I was invited by Midz to join her for an afternoon eat up at Tendon Akimitsu Tokyo Asakusa in Ayala Malls The 30th. The place is located at the ground floor of the mall in the garden area, shared with the Ramen Nagi.
The service crew handed the menu and let us order what we want to try. But she recommend to try the Ebi Tempura ala carte, which we did and order some of the bestseller of the restaurant.

🍤Spicy Tuna Sashimi for Php250.00 - ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 4/5

🍤Kani Kama Salad for Php220.00 - ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 4/5
All the dishes we had were truly amazing and delightful. Surprisingly, the Salmon Aburi Maki was my favorite. The torched grilled salmon complement with the Japanese rice and other ingredients. Taste so good.
The Ebi Tempura served hot and crispy. I like the soft flavor of the batter, it blends well with tempura sauce and special sauce.
Kani Kama Salad and Spicy Tuna Sashimi were a good start. So fresh and will keep your appetite to have more of it.
By the way, the Anago Don Set is for limited time only. Better hurry up and try this awesome set.
Overall, we had a great time digging the tempuras and other dishes. It was so good and sobrang busog. The staff also provided excellent service during our eat up.

Ramen Nagi hit Manila like crazy back in 2014. You have to wait in line just to have some of this famous ramen shop's butao. And unlike other restaurants that started with a bang and slowly faded away, Ramen Nagi never lost its charm. With its limited edition ramen flavors and expansions, it holds a special place in the market's hearts (and tummies). Honestly, I'm not a big fan of Ramen Nagi as its ramen flavors are too bold for my liking. But when I was asked to try Veggie Ramen, I have to give it a try as I've never had any. Also, it was hard for me to comprehend how Ramen Nagi married healthy greens and sinful ramen.
Its our first time in This mall and Akimitsu. We actually chose Ramen Nagi but discovered to our delight that we can cross order in Akimitsu too. Perfect!
First off , notice that their prices were on the high side.
2nd son and father-in-law ordered tempura. 2nd son prefers Tenya's tempura better than Akimitsu's version . Sorry.
Spicy Salmon Sushi : filling and flavorful. Thumbs up
Ambiance : Resto is fairly new, clean and cosy. It gets to be a little cramp though when fully booked
Service : Attentive and cheerful

Went here to claim my free 2 bowls of Ebi Tendon after winning a giveaway from loolooapp :) I was so happy that I got a chance to win something, especially if it's food related. It was nice to know that the restaurant that we were going to was connected with Ramen Nagi, it means we get to order Ramen here as well :) I love the ambiance of the place, simple yet very inviting. Staff were also very nice and accommodating. When the 2 free bowls came I didn't expect that there will be that much Tempura on one bowl. Serving was surprisingly a lot. The Ebi Tendon consisted of 4 Ebi Tempura's, 1 Prawn Tempura, 1 Okra Tempura, 1 Eggplant Tempura and 1 Sweet Potato Tempura. The bowl was very filling and satisfying. I was glad that I got the chance to win this. The coating of the Tempura was okay. It was soggy when it came to the table but I actually liked the taste and texture of it. The sauce of the Tempura was fine, not too sweet and not too salty. My only disappointment would be the rice. It wasn't Japanese rice so it wasn't very sticky. I expected them to serve Japanese rice ,sadly, it wasn't. Tastewise, it was delicious but nothing really to be excited about. Overall, I enjoyed my bowl of Ebi Tendon since there were generous amounts of Tempura, satisfying, delicious, and free. I also ordered some additional sides since I was eating with my family. We ordered their California Maki and Gyoza. The California Maki was okay. It had great texture but same with the Tendon, the taste is nothing to be excited about. For the Gyoza, it was good. It was nice and moist but a bit oily at the bottom. It didn't really have a broth inside compared to other Gyoza's that I've tried but it still had good flavor. I also like how they served it on a bed of beansprouts. I may have won 2 bowls of Ebi Tendon but I'm pretty sure I'll order it the time I'm coming back :)
