An authentic experience of modern Filipino cuisine with unique local ingredients. A real feast and a must try for foreigners looking for an authentic culinary experience in the Philippines.
I was not excited to eat at Purple Yam as I perceived it as a try hard Filipino heritage restaurant given its New York roots. Boy, was I wrong!
The whole dining experience was thoughtfully and tastefully executed:
Ambiance: Nothing beats an ancestral house rich in history. Beautiful setting for a peaceful and relaxing dinner.
Food: Delicious and unique! Not exactly Filipino, but the restaurant takes pride in sourcing local ingredients such as Bukindon vinegar, Mindoro rice, and Benguet blueberries. Our group’s fave was a chicken dish from Maguindanao.
Service: Very professional and knowledgeable. Nice and corteous too.
I’m proud that we have a restaurant like this in the Philippines. I hope more people get to experience what Purple Yam has to offer... elevating Filipino cuisine to the next level.
I was initially hesitant to eat at Purple Yam because I’ve always thought, “Why pay 2,500 for Filipino food when I can easily get it at home?” But my boyfriend was insistent that we reserve a table here for our anniversary.
After the first sip of that dalandan juice with ginger, I knew my hesitation was wrong. That juice is something else!
And then the courses started. My boyfriend and I both had the same reaction to every course. And it was, “Oh wow! Ang sarap!”
The eight-course meal ended with us so full, very satisfied and wanting to go back.
The personalized service was impeccable! The servers kept on greeting us for our anniversary. And the chef gave a complimentary main course and complimentary dessert for us.
The dinner was exquisite and something to be had for every Filipino! It gives you a new-found appreciation for Filipino cuisine.
Thank you Purple Yam! I’m recommending your restaurant to all my friends and family. I’m already planning to gift my parents with a dinner here.
