Curry katsu was really good. Though a bit salty for my taste, nevertheless, authentic and delicious. Will be returning. 🙂

Edit: 5/5 for the 2010s weeaboo music.

Great fastfood setup, these udon places are beginning to establish its place in the manila culinary scene.

The problem with this setup is most of the food are served cold. The udon while is of good quality, lacks the bite(al dente) which I love about udons. The broth was very flavorful but a bit too sweet for me.

Their tempura are crunchy but the shrimp is a bit soft, the softboiled egg tempura was good..

Another restaurant styled like a Japanese cafeteria. I ordered the gyudon, curry rice and some tempura. The gyudon was a bit tough and I was expecting it to be thinly sliced. The tempura was good (as you'd know the shrimp is fresh) and the curry rice was authentic.

I’ve been craving for udon near my workplace and I love the convenience of this place from work!

Tsurumaru is my go to japanese restaurant in Manila. I love their Beef Bukake Udon. 🥰 Their bowl of Udon ranges from 200-300 pesos and comes in two sizes: regular and large. Their serving size is based in the weight of their noodles. It is super worth the money! Their soup base is not too salty and tastes perfect! I love it. Aside from the Beef Bukake, i’ve tried the Beef Sukiyaki. It’s sweetness is just right for my taste buds and makes you crave for more! 😱 Aside from their Udon, Donburi and sides are available too. I’ve tried their Beef Gyudon. The beef is soft but the dish itself tastes bland for me. the price range is around 170-250 for the donburi. As for their side or short orders, i recommend their Tamago, Pork Tonkatsu and Ebi Tempura. To be honest, It is quite expensive ranging from 40-80 pesos per pc but I assure you that every money spent is worth it. Will definitely go back! ✨

Finally, i love their beef teriyaki udon. The taste is authentic. I feel like im in japan when i tasted their soup. It is sooo tasty and affordable too... Large oder is good for two... you cam also ask for extra soup. Their side dishes are always pre-filled and fresh.
I will definitely recommend this to everyone and will always come back for more!

Although I'm not a fan of thick-cut noodles, I must say that their Wakame Udon (Kelp/Seaweed Noodles) is really good and has a distinct taste. You may wish to add some chopped scallions and a bit of minced ginger if you like the broth to be more flavorful. I just ordered a small bowl of the Wakame Udon and the serving that I got is bigger than I expected.

Their Kakiage (Vegetable Fritters) is also nice. Also bigger than I expected. It appears that it's supposed to be consumed by two people.

Areas for improvement: a more flavorful tempura sauce, more condiments like nori flakes and sesame seeds, and availability of side dishes.

Very similar to Marugame Udon.

Since I'm not a big fan of Udon, I tried their Curry Rice (Donburi)

Food was okay. The curry was good but a bit watered down.

Service is a bit slow, but forgivable since they are still on soft opening.

Ambiance feels like eating in a "Cafeteria" than a resto.

Value for money since food is very cheap.

Overall, 3.5/5.

One of the new Japanese places in Manila. I like that this place has a "cafeteria" feel where you can order your food at the counter and build your own meal combination. They will actually prepare your meal as you order. And they also make their own udon noodles in house. So the quality of food is really good.

The udon bukkake has a lot of meat. Very generous and the broth itself is very rich. You can jazz up your broth with the usual condiments like chili powder and chopped green onions.

The tempura is crispy. And aside from the usual shrimp tempura they have some pretty unusual ones too. Like a whole boiled egg battered and fried, tempura style. Imagine a Japanese style kwek kwek. You can also add grated ginger or radish to your tempura sauce.

The gyuuji don which is like a combination of gyudon and katsudon. Has a lot of tender meat toppings. And like katsudon has scrambled eggs and onions. Very filling.

The onigiri also has generous fillings.

Ambience is nice. It looks like a Japanese hole in the wall with wooden tables and chairs and the cooks working behind the counter wearing white uniforms. Very much like in Japan. So I guess it's really authentic.

Price point is reasonable. Not too expensive and serving size is generous.

May I add also that when we were eating here, we saw maybe 2 or 3 Japanese or Chinese foreigners enjoying their meals. So I guess that's another sign that the food is really authentic and good.
