This place reminds me of Chinese restaurants in the late 90s/ early 2000. Food quality is great. The beef tenderloin Chinesw style is cooked well - meat is tender and drizzled in sweet sauce. The black mushroom chicken soup is on point - chicken is tender and the broth is packed with great flavors.

Service is great, fast and efficient.

This restaurant is one of the favorites of a dear friend, Kash. In fact when we went, some of the staff there recognized her. This establishment has likely been here for years (based on look) and they serve Hotpot like no other.

It starts with a checklist of type of soup, vegetables, meats, seafoods, balls and other add ons. Be careful checking too many like we did because portions are quite generous. We barely finished what we got. It was good for 4 or more.

We got clear and satay as soup based. They can half the pot for it. We got Angus Beef as our most expensive add on at Php 270. It was tender and well seasoned but it wasn't our favorite. The Mushroom Balls were clearly the best one with its tasty and soft texture. The other balls we got, Lobster and Shrimp were not as impressive.

The vegetables were fresh and green. One of the ones we got was spinach, my favorite and it was evidently new from its color. For seafood scallops were a steal at Php 150 for its portion.

The first round of satay is free but you'll likely get more like we did. It was so good. Just add Php 60 for another serving. On too of satay, I suggest adding raw egg with it together with soy sauce, ginger and some chopped chili.

This place also offers Seafood and other Cantonese cuisine classics. They serve it in sets and ala carte.

Food - authentic Chinese cuisine 👍🏻. Yummy hotpot.
Service - very good and food attendants are very attentive to our needs
Cleanliness - saw 4 small cockroaches under the table and place is a little old and not well maintained

We have been eating here for years and this is our all-time favorite restaurant. We love their shabu shabu. The dumplings and meat balls are very good. The vegetables are always freshly served. The seafoods and raw meat are excellent. They also have the best Yang Chow fried rice in town (for me 😂). They have very good customer service. Value for money: 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟

Dont be fooled by the external looks. The food is superb and really authentic. Love the live seafood available. I especially like the taro in claypot and the lobster with noodles. Will be going back!

Yue Lai is one of the few Chinese restaurants I've gone to. It's pricey but certainly, the seafood is superb. Also, the staff are accomodating and turns to their customer's needs in time.

Yue Lai is one of the oldies buIt goodies on Mabini St in Malate. Typical tea house interiors (white tiled walls, round tables with lazy Susans) won't tell you right away how much good stuff you can pick off the menu. While the interiors won't make up for the prices, the food will. The restaurant menu is extensive, and some come just for the hot pot food.

We ordered three delicious items, which I'll rank from the top:
(1) fried prawns with salted egg - six pieces of plump juicy (and jumbo!) prawn, deep fried with a salted egg coating. You'll taste butter, the egg, and some of the garlic garnish. Delicious - and not for the faint of heart! This cost above P500. Worth every single hard-earned peso.

(2) Duck with taro - the "small" portion is generous, to say the least. Boneless duck with delicate crispy skin, served face down, comes with a thick layer of mashed taro overlaid with fried tung min flour coating. We debated whether the taro overwhelmed the duck with its slight lack of seasoning. It's okay; we'll try it again to decide. :)

(3) Crispy pork with raspberry sauce - Delicious pork, but the garnish came with strawberries. I think the sauce wasn't made from raspberry, but I wasn't entirely sure. Still it was nice...

Tourists have spotted this place - so you'll see foreigners. One group started smoking and the staff didn't ask them to stop. It didn't bother me, but I am sure it did others.

There's a roasted meats chopping area near the entrance, if you really must do take-out.
