One of Singapore and Japan's best selling ramen, Ramen Keisuke, is finally here in the Philippines.
Tori King Ramen has 4 variants:
- Rich Soup
- Black Spicy
- Red Spicy
- Clear Soup
When I say rich, it's really rich and creamy. You can adjust the oil (the normal one is quite oily for me, so I think, next time, I'll choose the less oil instead). I also like the fact that in every bowl.
The Black Spicy Tori King Ramen is spicier (my opinion only) than the Red Spicy because it has Sichuan Black Peppercorn blend but it has the same richness of soup.
The Red Spicy one uses chili peppers and chili oil blend and the spiciness is tolerable than the black spicy.
The Clear Soup is for those who like a lighter broth instead.
Each ramen bosl comes with a big part of roasted chicken which is tender enough and the chicken skin is somehow salty/crispy.
Customers can even customize the noodle texture, chicken oil, and the taste of the soup. What I even like here is that they offer free boiled eggs.
For the sides, they have karaage (P200.00) and gyoza (P250.00/6 pcs, P150.00/3 pcs). I like the boneless karaage.
Price point is reasonable enough. Ramen price is around P400.00+ but the serving size and everything in your bowl is worth the money.
The soup/broth is really thick and creamy, the Tori King Original Ramen really taste like chicken aside from the leg quarter chicken that is included in the bowl. All the rich soup is really tasty and flavorful. The chicken is so tender it falls off the bone and the pork as well. The flavored egg doneness is just perfect, I like the oozing yolk. The noodles are kinda done hard-medium (I think) and softens as time goes by. Price is justifiable and reasonable just as it taste, but I think it’s still a bit pricey. For the service, I am giving a 3/5 rating for now, because serving water takes time, need to ask for many times before it was served. Place is really clean, the overall all design gave us the Japanese style feel with the special mention of the sakura flowers and japanese inspired wall with newspaper like designs with Japanese characters, well the music is fine but I don't really remember what played when we were there, Lighting is just fine aswell with all the glass windows which lets all the sunrays into the restaurant (well I just don't remember if there are cloth/ blinds or something that would prevent the hot sunrays of the sun in the room), however at night it is fully lighted. I find the place cozy but I feel like it is so small that I cannot move too much because of the restriction of the space.
Definitely one of the best ramen places here in Metro Manila. A delightful flavor broth without the “umay” factor and the oh-so tender chicken meat that easily falls off from its bone.
