When I arrived, there were just a couple of tables with people. For the 6 hours that we were there, people came and went. It was never empty, us excluded. It has a homey feel with the different chairs and couches used. The staff ws very attentive, always filling our glasses with water. That's one thing I don't see that much in restos. The food was good, I just don't remember what they're called. Gambas could probably be a bit bigger, though I appreciate that it's only a bit spicy. The pork belly was perfect with the ground green mush. The ice cream with churros was divine! I wonder who made their salted caramel ice cream? Carmen's Best? I'd definitely go back. Quaint, hidden, fantastic!
Relaxed ambience. Really good food. Attentive staff.
One of the places in our list worth coming back to.
I will definitely come back again with the one whom I recommend with.
Ate here on random Saturday afternoon. Hands down, already one of my favorite chill date places. A little bit hard to find but it has 4-5 parking slots, cozy dining seats, and great service.
Ordered Paella Valenciana which was good for 2-3 people. Best dish here for me as it had fresh sea food, authentic choziro bits and a generous serving of pork belly that was just crispy on the outside but juicy on every bite. The paella rice was also very flavorful (real saffron was definitely used)
Next up, had the butcher's steak. For 180g it was surprisingly good serving. Drenched with olive oil and chimichurri, with potatoes and deep fried oyster mushrooms, it was to die for. cooked perfectly medium rare. just like it should be.
Had the Pescado Asado next. Flavorful squid ink pasta with calamares cooked just right. not Tough, not chewy. The Mahi mahi was juicy as hell with nice browning on both sides.
Overall, the food was amazing. The plating was excellent. The ambiance was great. Service was awesome. Loved this place.
Very accommodating staff. Food is well-seasoned with good portion size for their price. I loved the callos, it was tender and very rich. I can eat this with either rice or with bread or maybe 1 ricecooker-worth of rice lol. The next thing we absolutely loved is their signature dish, Francesinha. Oh this was soooo good. Sauteed mushrooms, asiago cheese, cream cheese, and jamon serrano served with perfectly seasoned and perfectly deepfried potato wedges! I can eat this thing on a daily basis and not feel guilty at all!! Absolutely worth the calories!!! A suggestion would be to add caramel sauce to their choice of dipping for their churros as I'm not really a big fan of chocolate dip and another option is for a churro order with no cinnamon powder for those chums like me who can't stand cinnamon. Overall we're quite pleased. We will come visit again.
Loved the food and the service was very good. The place is very relaxing and peaceful. We ordered Churrasco Pork Belly, Pan-seared Mahihi and Jamon Serrano Salad. Portions are large and can serve 2-3 persons. We’ll definitely be back.
First time to dine here despite being a frequent passerby in this area. My favorite would definitely be the mushroom chips, super highly recommended.
If you’re looking for a quiet place with yummy food, this js a good option.
What I love about Cafe Sanso is the nice interior of the restaurant. Food is also great and plating is awesome. I like that each main dish has generous servings of unique sides. Cafe Sanso is a must try in San Juan.
A hole in the wall restaurant hidden in one of the sides streets in San Juan, Cafè Sanso doubles up as a cafe/gallery in one. We ordered the Mahi Mahi with Squid Ink Pasta, Paella Valenciana, Sous Vide Porkchop and the Bagnet Chips. The Mahi Mahi was the best out of all we ordered! The taste was very citrusy which I liked! Would have given a perfect rating if serving didnt take too long.
Great food. Calm ambiance
The café had a really good ambiance. The serving was more than enough! Got a salad, mushroom chicarones, the bruschetta and sundried tomato and asparagus pasta. All of the dishes tasted good. I would really recommend this place for people who just want a quick snack as the place has a lot of offerings, both food and drinks 😃
Used our zomato gold membership here. We had the smoked salmon triangles, paella Negra, hanger steak, paella valenciana, and churro cups for dessert. The smoked salmon triangles was really good- good enough to satisfy a tomatito/ rambla salmon tnt craving. Plus, it’s a lot more affordable at 295 for around 8 triangles, I think. The hanger steak was nicely done, it had a hint of salt which complemented the steak really well. I personally didn’t like the chimichurri sauce it came with but I was never really a fan of chimichurri anyways. Both paellas were really good, with a decent amount of toppings. They surely didn’t scrimp on them- good quality and fresh. We also liked the churro cups, I was worried it’d be overly sweet but it was actually just right. Service wise wasn’t bad, it took around 30 minutes for our food to arrive. Servers are attentive. Will definitely come back to dine at cafe sanso again.
