My family and I went here to celebrate my birthday, we used to eat at an old branch in Banawe as far as I remember. We ordered their famous sisig which for me is one of the best sisig because it has a crunch to it. But it was overdone and had this burnt taste to it. Aside from that the food was great. We also ordered Ox Tripe and Tail Kare Kare, Stuffed Squid and Krispy Kangkong.
Dined here for my boyfriends’ birthday c/o our boss😁 We ordered stuffed squid, pork sisig, pinakbet rice, plain rice for me, mango bites for our shared dessert and sago’t gulaman for my drink and san mig pale pilsen for my boyfie. All for a reasonable price.👍🏼
Didn’t really get to taste the squid and pinakbet rice because of my allergy. But according to my companions, squid was soft and the sauce was sweet. Pinakbet rice was just ok, it was like java rice with veggies on top. As for the sisig, it was good. “Malinamnam” according to my bf😅 The mango bites was also good.
It’s also good that they have a basement parking.
Our family just had a wonderful birthday celebration at this branch. The place is new, clean and tables are properly spaced. Parking is available, up front and at the basement. The food is good and reasonably priced. The service is exceptionally good. We’d like to commend the manager, Noel Enriquez, for giving us a very special consideration during our recent event. He allowed our Golden Retriever to be brought inside the restaurant! It was an awesome gesture as bringing our dog wasn't really part of the plan, and despite the special consideration given to us, our dog behaved well. Sometimes that’s all it takes for a restaurant and its crew to be exceptionally great and special and this is one restaurant which is more than just food, price and place. Thank you, Congo Grille!
Note: If you’re coming here with your dog, it’s best that you call first and ask if your dog can be brought inside as they made a special arrangement just for us in our situation.
Congo Grille has been our family’s go-to restaurant especially when we’re with our relatives because of their Tribal Feasts. The food choices under each feast is absolutely delicious. It can be quite steep but if your dining with your relatives it’s worth it. The branch we always visit is at Tomas Morato and it takes us about 20-30 minutes (more if there’s traffic). That’s not bad though but it would be better if there’s a branch closer to us. To our surprise, Congo Grille opens their newest branch at Visayas Avenue Corner Road 20 Street.
Congo Grille is one of the newer franchise restaurants sprouting at our side of town. I was running errands when I saw their promotion for 5 grilled meats for P100 and I thought I'd give it a try. You have a choice from pork barbecue, chicken isaw, pork isaw, grilled hotdog, chicken gizzard and chicken liver, I opted for barbecue, hotdog and pork isaw.
... and I wish I had gone to my suki. The barbecue and hotdog were okay, nothing spectacular but okay as beer chow. The pork isaw was nearly unpalatable, it was rubbery and tough. It needed to be boiled some more. It was for take out so I had the option to fry it to eat it. But I loved the service. I hope the other dishes are a lot better, because I kind of miss their ginataang kuhol.
