‪Can’t believe I’m actually giving Pancake House 5/5 this time. I was pleasantly surprised by how good the food was. Not only that, I enjoyed every dish ordered. Honestly my best Pancake House visit by far, considering that I’ve always expected to leave PH with a meh-feeling. I ordered the salisbury steak and beaded chicken fillet, 400 php for both (party of the 2-for-399 promo), and the Fiesta Taco Salad. Can’t really choose what the highlight was because I enjoyed everything. Customer service was good as well. Hopefully I’ll also be able to get the same experience in other branches. 😀‬

Pancake House still serves one of the best pancakes in town. We ordered the classic with cheddar which had the right amount of salty kick that goes well with the fluffiness and sweetness of the pancake. My husband got the banana pancakes which has too ripe banana for my liking. It’s the first time we ordered the chicken fingers and I must say they are rather good.

Pancake House is great for lunch when you already have a favorite and don't want to think anymore about other options. In my case, it's the Pan Chicken Special set: hot and juicy Pan Chicken, spaghetti and taco plus refreshing iced tea.

I've eaten here at Pancake House Malakas twice now, because I can't hang out at Starbucks anymore. I can't suffer through that blasted GERD bout again. T_T Anyway, I have to commend the staff of this particular Pancake House for being very accommodating without being overly pushy. I could tell that they were really sincere in their concept of customer service. Or maybe it's just Christmas season. lol. Kudos to Derrick, my server today.

I'll review what I've had from this store so far: the Lemon Tower stack, almondigas soup, and their holiday offering, Eggs Benedict.

Well, if there's anything Pancake House does right, it's their pancakes. Suffice it to say that enjoying that component of their two dishes is a given. In the case of the lemon tower, the pancakes were smeared with cream cheese in between layers, topped with a dollop of whipped cream, and doused with a good helping of lemon syrup, with more on the side. I thoroughly enjoyed it, especially the syrup, which I could tell was made from real lemons and not lemon extract or flavoring. The tart sweetness contrasted well with the salty, slightly sour richness of the cream cheese. I didn't care much for the whipped cream, though, but it didn't detract from meal's entirety. Good stuff.

On the other hand, my reservations about their Hawaiian Eggs Benedict proved right on target. It wasn't that bad: using pancakes as a substitute for the conventional English muffin worked for this offering. The grilled pineapple chunks, while not the fresh kind, did add a nice brightness. The country ham they used was surprisingly good. What let me down in this dish was the "Hollandaise sauce". You can't call it Eggs Benedict without the Hollandaise sauce, as far as I know. The first thing I did when the plate was placed in front of me was to poke my knife into the very pale yellow sauce (that clued me in)... and true enough, it was NOT a Hollandaise, more like a slightly more runny, flavored mayonnaise. #-o Not the slightest hint of lemon could be detected, and there was no butter. NO BUTTER! T_T Also, only in Eggs Benedict do I enjoy runny eggs, not in any other dish. While I appreciate that degree of doneness in this poached egg, it was a minus in this case.

As an afterthought, don't order the almondigas. I've tried some of their soups before, and that one falls far off the mark. The mystery meat was several shades of gray, and not nearly as appetizing as that dude. (You know to whom I was referring. O.o XD)

Still, I'd go back to this place. Like I said, their pancakes are really good. And I've yet to run through their entire menu. And this is the closest establishment to PHC which offers decent fare and where I can work in relative peace. So thanks for the hospitality, Pancake House. Keep it up. =)

Second afterthought: Happy Christmas, everyone! XD

I love the chocolate marble waffle of Pancake House and I could say that again for a thousand times and not get sick of it. The 3 piece panchicken here is not to be ignored as well. Their milkshakes are so divine that I will never get sick trying those drinks.

Their steaks are so heavenly that you will definitely realize you stumbled upon a comfort food restaurant. The service is great as well as they will already provide you with service water when you sit down.
