IHOP UP Town is still going strong. I went here for breakfast today. This is about my 5th time here, but I've not had the chance to review it. About damn time, huh? It's strategically located at the center despite it being in the original building of UP Town; I've seen a few whose locations weren't as appealing after traffic got diverted post the two-building expansion.
Overall, I had a very good experience with the food, noting that the prices are really good and not unreasonable. But the kitchen service left much to be desired; our food arrived 30 minutes after we ordered. And the place wasn't even half full. So boo on the kitchen service. Plus the dine in staff weren't proactive enough to manage us in that (and my specific request to advance what could be done early like french toast) respect.
TIPS:
+ MUST ORDER: Corn beef hash. Awesome. Garlic rice and eggs of your choice. Under P300. They have other Filipino all day breakfast dishes all under P300.
+ Unli Coffee for under P100! For coffee junkies.
+ 30 minutes thereabouts appears to be the norm here (compared to BGC which is 15 to 20), hey I'm just managing your expectations. 🤣

> VERDICT: While Ihop doesn't have a side (pancakes, French toast, hash brown) I am impressed with, I like their Filipino dishes and some of their products like the ones I reviewed in their BGC (sorry I forget that now but it was more Tex Mex and Western). It's comfort / all day breakfast food that's got its own niche here. Back in 2013, I had my worries about its long term viability vs strong-and-steady Pancake House. But I'd say it looks like it's well managed by the CPK guys, positioning it a bit more upscale than Pancake House, I think.
This branch does need tweaking in the kitchen, though, but I told the manager that, so I hope they do step that up.
When I realized I have not eaten pancakes in a long time, I started to crave its fluffy and golden warm goodness. I just need to have one! And where else could you possibly get the best pancakes? I have a couple of ideas but I chose to fulfill my cravings by vising the nearest International House of Pancakes (IHOP) branch.

The food is a little bit bland. The ambiance and presentation are both above par. Service from the staff is amazing as well. :) Overall, I love how the staff made sure the customers are pampered but the food can definitely improve...
A favorite breakfast place for Miriam moms like me because it's near the school. We celebrate birthdays or just hangout with co-parents esp during exam week.
I love going to this IHOP, the service is always great, Kuya Marlon and Ate Mite are especially helpful! As an American it's a great reminder of the states!

Last August 13, 2016, Global Meets Local brought together people from different fields of the food industry and other influencers for a whole day food celebration at UP Town Center! Through this series, ForkSpoonManila (Alexis Manuel Deocaris) overhauled the traditional food crawl where the media and influencers can share their experiences and impressions regarding the food, through of course, social media. During the event, we not only got to socialize with each other, but more importantly, we met a lot of the people behind these restaurants and discovered the stories behind their dishes and store concepts.
First established in Toluca Lake, California, in 1958, IHOP or the International House of Pancakes serves a wide variety of breakfast, lunch, and dinner items loved by people of all ages. Although their world-famous Buttermilk Pancakes made them a global icon, their wide range of deliciously fresh and made to order food coupled with their warm, friendly, and intuitive service all work together towards fulfilled their promise of Spreading Happiness to each and every one of their guests.
For now, let me leave you with some of the snaps I took at IHOP Restaurant - the first out of eight stops that day. What we had: New York Cheesecake Pancakes, Double Blueberry Pancakes, Chicken Florentine Crepes, Bacon Temptation Omelette, Bacon Topped Chicken Breast with Potato Hash, Waffle Burger, BBQ Liempo, Chicken Parmesan with Pasta, Cajun Tilapia, Tuna Melt, and Strawberry Basil Smoothie.
My favorites were the New York Cheesecake Pancakes, Bacon Topped Chicken Breast with Potato Hash, and the Waffle Burger!

I am having a quick cup of coffee since my meeting is stuck in traffic at 8 AM. The coffee taste nice and I manage to finish two whole thermoses within one hour for only around 100 pesos. What a bargain! The waiter is also very friendly and attentive. My only comment is that it is way too hot. This is actually the case in most restaurants in UP Town Center that I have been to. I really hope that Ayala Malls can do something about this. I know for a fact that this is not the fault of IHOP. It is the mall operator, in this case Ayala! I will be back here again in a couple of weeks and I hope this is solved then.

I liked this IHOP visit. I had a bad experience last time in another branch which was so horrible I didn't want to go in any IHOP branch anymore. After some urging, I gave in.
We got the following:
Plain Waffle coz it's my favorite! I didn't smother it with butter nor drown it with syrup but it was pretty good. Warm and crunchy outside but soft inside.
Appetizer Sampler - Mozzarella Cheese Sticks, Onion Rings and Chicken Strips - all fried to golden brown perfection. The sampler came in with honey mustard and marinara dips. All were tasty and had crunchy coating. Great start for a full meal ahead!
Husband got their corned beef meal which he liked. Nothing special for me though.
Southern Fried Chicken - there wasn't too much of complication with this chicken. It was plain and straight forward, juicy and tasty. The chicken parts were marinated with buttermilk then coated with flour that has some salt and pepper. What I liked about this though was the country gravy! It was knock out good! Made from milk, flour, black pepper and BACON FAT!
IHOP Tacos - we tried the hard and soft shell version and I would say that I liked the soft one more because it held the meat better. If you're getting the hard shell, better consume right away so that it won't get soggy.
The meat was pretty good. It was more like chili con carne without the heat and the beans. It also had diced tomatoes, onions, lettuce and lots of cheddar cheese!
Banana Crepe with Nutella - it was my first time to try this and I would say that it's super good! I mean Nutella with banana, how can you go wrong? It had generous serving of Nutella, slices of fresh banana, dusted with powdered sugar and topped with whipped cream. The crepe layers were a little thick though so an order of this is really filling.
