This cafe is very special as we had our wedding reception here! :) Perfect food and drinks, ambiance, music, magazine selection, furniture, staff and owner. We made the right decision to celebrate edible love in this tiny, charming cafe. See how nicely styled the place was: www. themicroweddingofteamchosan. com

Bloc leaf has a great selection of pastries partnered with amazing local coffee. The ambiance instantly transports you to your happy place Service is also great, their baristas are very attentive!
I had a pleasant visit here. T’was very chill. Loved the vibe and how relaxed it is. I ordered the white espresso brew which was pretty good and thai tea latte(iced) which tasted like diluted milk, nothing like a thai tea.
I had their cheesy gojuchang pasta and americano combo for P200. Best value for money! And the ambience is so relaxing.
Just like what the folks over at Escolta are doing by breathing life yet again to Manila, Blocleaf goes beyond good coffee and design. We're glad they didn't settle for a more 'hip' city like Fort BGC or Makati. To be honest, these areas are too commercially congested. There is a growing interest by the general nostalgia public to bring back spots like Malate back to life. This coffee shop is a reminder to most of us that there's so much to explore in Manila.
The Vibe
This neighborhood coffee shop is similar to neighborhood shops you see in Japan. Their concept might be foreign in nature, but their menu is everything Filipino.
What to Get
Do order their cup of mocha using local cacao chocolate and a good cup of cappuccino. We were pretty satisfied with the depth of flavors and how good the roast was. They source their beans from Kalsada who champions Philippine specialty coffee.
Love this tiny but instagrammable café. The kind of coffee house you'd go to from afar. It got limited seats though but a perfect spot for those who want to study/work or just hangout up to 2-3 people. It got good lightings and ambiance. Ordered hot mocha - it's good but I think the cup's too small for the price of P150. Good thing's that they have a stable wifi.
I liked their peppermint tea. I'm a digger for black tea but their black tea tastes like old tap water (lol).
Their avocado cheesecake's really a treat. The carrot cake was moist.
Ambience is nice. They don't really get a lot of customers so more often than not, you get the whole place all to yourself. They have a great playlist too!
I have been curious about Blocleaf Café because my friend posted about them.
So out of curiosity, I did try going there.
Ambiance - 5.0/5.0
Its a small cafe that shares space with Hop Inn Hotel in Ermita but its really minimalist and they play great music.
Service - 4.0/5.0
This is more of a self-service cafe but the staff is helpful and knowledgable of what they offer in the cafe.
Food - 4.0/5.0
I tried their Longganisa Pasta and Hot Americano. I guess, they should add something to the Longganisa Pasta (more oil I guess so that it is not too dry) but the toppings are generous. The Hot Americano is strong which is good.
And then I went back on another date and tried their breakfast sandwich. I tried the 3 Cheese Panini with Juice. The Panini is good and suits with how the cheese melts in the mouth. The juice is also good.
Should come back for more.
I loved my visit at Blocleaf Café! Coffee is good (I believe they get their beans from Kalsada?) and the minimalist/rustic place just adds a nice layer of peacefulness to the experience :)
Blocleaf is my go to cafe whenever I want to study alone or just have coffee and quiet time. It's this small but comfortable space located at the skirt of Hop Inn hotel in Malate. I love how it has glass walls enclosing it and how plants and wood textures complete the ambience. It's like super low-key and intimate perfect for alone time or catching up with a friend or two.
This café has just a tiny space but they made the most out of it. They got good lighting and beautiful interiors. Perfect for instagram pictures. I was also happy with the food that we ordered. We had café mocha and choc-nut cake. The staffs are polite and attentive. Can't wait to go back to try the other items in their menu.
There's newly opened café in Malate. It's located at the ground floor of HOP INN Hotel. The place is quite small but intimate. A perfect venue for friends or family to bond over good food. Based on my estimation, it can accommodate 20 to 30 customers. They provide variety of magazines and other reading materials their customers can read while waiting for their order to be served. Also, I really enjoyed their chocolate cake, it is super moist and decadent. I tried their Matcha Latte, it is not that sweet and the taste of matcha isn't overpowering. Though, I wish they would serve it with more milk. 🙂 I also tasted their Tuyo Puttanesca, the pasta is al dente or is firm to the bite. The sauce is enough to cover the pasta. I liked that they used rotini pasta, so the sauce could adhere to the pasta easily. The pasta is served with a slice of bread with butter.
I really enjoyed the experience of dining here and I would definitely be back to try more of what's on their menu.
