PuNta is such a nice place to hang out. The location is easy to find. Located in Mandala Park, Shaw Blvd. Live bands every night, no door charge, generous space for parking, great food and drinks and the price? Totally affordable. I like the vibe of this place. There’s more room to dine as they have 4 options. The Al Fresco, The Sunken Lounge, VIP and the dining area. Walking on a red carpet once you enter, it felt like you’re kinda a celebrity or probably because there’s just the owner Paolo Bediones who welcomed us very warmly. While explaining the menu, you can really hear his passion for running this business. Once called Punyeta, as his outcry during the difficult time in his life, he started this business to make him feel good and be busy with more important things rather than think about the negativity in his life. And he actually did a pretty good job of running this restaurant with his siblings.

Nice that the place is spacey. Bands play regularly so you check which genre the band is at a specific day. (I think Thursdays are for throwback). Food is also delicious. A bit pricey for regular visits. Cocktails are only so-so.

Went here with my friends and we went here out of curiosity, but when we got here we enjoyed the live band (they were a Japanese band playing metal) together with the drinks, staying inside was a bit of a struggle since t'was too dark so we moved out side which was a lot better.

Didn’t try their food yet but we drank here, the place is big. The indoor is kinda dark but the outside doesn’t look crowded so it’s a chill place to hang out and drink. What I remember is they have 5+1 bottle promo which is about Php 250-300.

Seen this place in one of Zomato's recommendation and considered it on our Fridate!
Arriving at the place it seems relaxing and browsing the menu I was confused what to try first since there are lots of good item on the menu
So we decided to order the must try like nachos mexicana (my favorite so far) fried tortilla topped with Jalapeño , quesadilla and lots of cheese uuhhhhm great combo!
Then we had beef burrito ala chimichanga (fried) savory beef, annato rice and silantro envelope in a crispy fried burrito wrapper topped with jalapeño and red beans really good!
Then the main course Plato asado breast Chicken Barbecue soft, sweet and savory with silantro sauce of course Annato rice with grilled corn indeed a full meal.
Trying their desserts churritos as the name implies bite size round churros crispy outside and soft inside though it lacks the sweetness and churros like feel I'm looking for even the chocolate dip well just the usual chocolate sauce.
Over all I'm really amaze how this place can serve good food and maintain a great music and good vibes really a nice place for a gimik!

The Nachos Mexicana from Punta, which is a bar in the Mandala Park area, was really good. Shying away from the usual nacho chips that you'll get from bars, they used fried tortilla chips. The chips were topped with Picadillo which was made of ground beef that tasted like the the meat in Arroz a la Cubana and Pico de Gallo or salsa which was made of fresh tomatoes, onions, cilantro and lime juice. There was an hefty serving of the toppings!
The Punta Burger was equally good. Made from 100% Beef Sirloin patty, it had caramelized onions, a bed of crisp lettuce, tomato slices and fried egg on a Spanish Broiche Bun. The bun was a little toasted at the bottom, which I liked, and held the meat and egg well. I also liked that the fried egg was runny. The fries that it came with though was a let down. I didn't like their signature "8 Spice Blend" since it gave a really strong odd taste and smell for me. There was too much of it in the fries.

Their food is great. Love their chicken. Couldnt remember what dish it was called lol and also their nachos. Their chips were tortilla chopped into small triangles but it fitted their toppings. Love their food. Thumbs up!

The food here is one of the best ive had, I can brave the traffic all the way to Mandaluyong just to enjoy food with friends on a cool weekend evening. Start off with the Aticuchos of skewered chicken heart or liver and the Quesdadillas (they use grilled tortilla), for the mains..the Plato Asado Pork Belly does not disappoint and the Lo Mejor (oh my) is a heaven sent dish of Braised beef shank, cheeks and lengua in thick tomato sauce, never fails to heat things up. For dessert, try the Churriots with Dulce de Leche dipping sauce. Its a resto-bar so expect the same ambiance during evenings especially on weekends. The cocktails look promising, may try those on my next visit. Parking is available. Two thimbs up🖒🖒

Since were around the corner we decided to try this place as it was previously owned by a friend. For appetizer we got Quesadilla (Jalapeno Poppers) this bad boy is not your average quesadilla 😋😋😋 for the main course we ordered beef burrito serving is big enough to feed 2 people another winner.

My only gripe is the service 😞 it took couple of minutes (more than 15mins) before our food was served.

Over all great food, awesome ambiance will definitely come back for more!

Okay, okay, let me make a confession,  I'm a good girl and had always been one, but of course I do have flaws in my character at times and one of that is uttering a bad word.  Consider "a" when I say that I did curse.  But the only bad word that comes out in my mouth is the word "puñta," and only when I'm angry.

Being a resident of Mandaluyong, one place I know that's been buzzing in my area is Punta Mandala. They specialize in Latin American cuisine and is located along Shaw Boulevard in the commercial complex known as Mandala (formerly Liberty Center). I was really about to try it out when timing has it that a Zomato foodie meet up was organized to review the place and I was fortunate to participate in that.

We were able to try a cross-section of Punta Mandala's prime offers. I've earmarked below the ones that I liked the most:

Nachos Mexicana - a pleasantly light starter. For me, what makes the mark is its fresh and crisp tortilla. It matches quite well with its meaty and cheesy toppings.

Anticuchos or Skewered Meats marinated in Spiced Vinegar - this comes in 2 variants, beef tongue and chicken heart. Quite exotic and indeed out of the ordinary yet surprisingly appetizing. I particularly like it because of the unusual texture and flavor the grilled meats provide.

Plato Asado or Latin American Barbecued Meat - choose between chicken breast or pork belly. Interestingly savory because of the mix of spices in its marinate. A full meal as it comes with Annato Rice and your choice of 2 sidings. Their version of the renowned South American barbecue fixes are sure to win your approval.

Sopa de Mariscus or Spanish Seafood Soup - for me is an utter stand out for its potent taste and definitive texture. The soup is velvety and creamy. The taste is strong yet a balanced mix of seafoods. By itself, it's enough to give you a good fill as well as a good feel.

A Latin American staple that's also worth having at Punta Mandala is the Ropa Vieja or Shredded Beef Brisket stew. A favorite across South American countries.

If you're up for burgers then thay have a couple of selections to try. Chorizo Burger is a tasty treat. Made with chorizo picante patty, it is festive to the palate as chorizo should be. They also have the Punta Burger which is hefty and made with pure sirloin patty. Both versions use Spanish Brioche buns, topped with fried egg and come with generous sidings.

For dessert, try the Churritos. Small balls of churros which you can either dip in Chocolate or Dulce De Leche sauce. The place also offer a wide array of cocktails and spirits. A specialty concoction to try is their Salty Snow Queen or Coconut Mojito.

Something to note and watch out for at Punta Mandala are their sauces. In particular, look out for the Punta Sauce and the Chimuchuri Sauce. Somewhat of a specialty blend which you'll only find there and both go very well with their grilled and meat selections.

First impression works to their advantage. You'll likely get interested with the place outright just seeing its inviting appearance. You can choose to dine in their indoor / air-conditioned area or go al fresco. The place bear a trendy and modern industrial feel. The al fresco area is the one that greets you when you get there. It is spacious and perfect for cozy chats with friends over good food and fine spirits. The air-conditioned area on the other hand is equally spacious. There is a stage for band performances that transpire during the latter part of the night. The place is equiped with excellent lights and sound system and enables a roster of popular bands to perform there regularly. In terms of pricing, I'd say they offer good value for money for the quality of food and service they provide. It's actually a good place to recommend for events and even company parties.

About a month ago, I attended the Zomato foodie meet up at Punta in Mandala Park (formerly Liberty Center).  Punta serves Latin American inspired dishes,  mixes up interesting cocktails and provides live entertainment nightly.  They do not have cover charge regardless of who is performing.  The likes of Freestyle, MYMP, True Faith, Kitchie Nadal and Rouge have conquered their stage.  They encourage you to jam with the performers and on that night Paolo Bediones (one of the owners) jumped up on stage and joined the band on keyboards.

The restaurant is divided into 4 sections - the main dining area which is directly in front of the stage and where I'd stay if I come over for dinner, the sunken lounge which has a more relaxed feel and where I'd hang out with friends or my cousins for drinks, the mez and the al fresco area.  We spent most of the night in the sunken lounge, dined family style and sampled a whole range of dishes.  We transferred to the main dining area afterwards where we were served shots of some of their cocktails and listened to the live band who indulged us with some of our song requests as well.

Now on to the food and drinks....

APERITIVOS (Appetizers)
🔹Nachos Mexicana - visually appetizing and mouthwatering, loved the tortilla chips.  I think I had seconds or even thirds.
🔹Patatas Bravas - heavy and cheesy, very addicting
🔹Cuban Corn - seasoned well, fuss free way to eat corn

ANTICUCHOS (Skewered Meats Marinated in Spiced Vinegar)
🔹Beef Tongue and Chicken Heart - not sure which was which but both of these did not give me that fear factor feeling.  I think I would have eaten more if I didn't know what they were.

SOUP
🔹Sopa de Maiz
🔹Sopa de Mariscos - strong seafood smell and taste

PAN AMERICAS
🔹Punta Burger and Chorizo Burger - Not sure which one I was able to taste but it was really juicy.

PASTA
🔹Tequila Pasta - lacked the oomph of tequila.  It was more of a mac and cheese dish but since I loved their cheese, I didn't mind as much.
🔹Shrimp and Chorizo Pasta

PLATO ASADO (Full Meal)
🔹Chicken Breast - a bit dry but flavors were spot on.  I could probably finish one whole plate on my own.
🔹Pork Belly - flavorful and smelled great

GUISADOS (Stews)
🔹Callos - this lacked that richness that is characteristic of Callos.
🔹Ropa Vieja - found it weird that there were bananas but the sweetness of the bananas actually worked well with the tender shredded beef.  One of my favorites from the night.

DESSERT
🔹Churritos - the perfect sweet ending, fried donut holes tossed in cinnamon sugar dipped in Chocolate or Dulce De Leche.  I popped several of these in my mouth.

COCKTAILS
🔹Salty Snow Queen - great flavors and textures.  surprised that I liked this even if it had coconut.
🔹"Punch Me" Ponche
🔹Tropical Zombie

My favorites were mostly dishes with cheese simply because I just love cheese.  I can't wait to come back with hubby or maybe my friends/cousins as a few bites and a few shots of their cocktails are not enough to fully appreciate the delectable dishes and interesting cocktails.

*I love how passionate and hands on Paolo Bediones and his sisters are about Punta.

Haven't tried enough food to give this place a higher rating, though so far, two of the food we ordered didn't disappoint. It was the chicken wings with spices and potato in cheese. Both were delicious and filled with flavor. Contrasting flavors + beer = perfect combi

Punta is a restaurant in Mandala Park area of Liberty Center on Shaw Boulevard, Mandaluyong. This particular area of the mall has undergone a gradual transformation and has two other up and coming bars - Commissaire and Madly British Bar - as neighbors. Mandala enjoys the presence of a semi-regular weekend food market that boosts the vibe of this area.

Punta is open from 5 pm to 3 am, and it has had a lineup of live performances from showbands, acoustic groups, and established performers of the last 10-15 years (True Faith, Jimmy Bondoc, MYMP, Kitchie Nadal), and according to Paolo Bediones, who is one of Punta's owners, there is no cover charge. Yay!

Since Punta is quite spacious and the acoustics are great, there's the option to watch them either from their main dining area, their sunken lounge, or the tent outside, where you can catch the breeze.

Zomato and Punta partnered for one evening some days ago to give us some highlights from their Latin American-inspired food, starting with some "anticuchos," or Peruvian-style marinated meat skewers, using chicken heart and beef tongue. This was a delicious treat all by itself, while the marinated vinegar dip that went with these skewers should be bottled and sold - it was so good.

Some of their other items are certified crowdpleasers, from their nachos, their eight-spiced fries, to a corn soup, and an egg-topped chorizo burger with spicy potatoes.

Things get more interesting with richly infused sopa de mariscos, a seafood soup that tasted both of crab and shrimp; their tomatoey beef stew ropa vieja, which works as a light supper on its own, great with a beer; and their platos asados. Of the latter, we tried two - pork belly and chicken. Both were smoky and tasty, grilled to the right point. Paired with Mexican-style dirty rice and the lemony-grassiness of chimichurri, these two combos were hard to beat.

We tried two fun desserts - churritos shaped into balls, with dulce de leche and chocolate sauce, and crepes with vanilla ice cream and grated cheese. I vote for the churritos.

The evening ended with a live music show with an acoustic trio singing 90s songs - and they invited the audience to jam for whomever was up to it. We discovered Paolo is an awesome keyboardist!

Punta looks promising, if I'm to gauge them also from their drinks - the Salty Snow Queen, their punch drinks (ponches), and Tropical Zombies (Zombies are so very 90s).  They're an asset to the neighborhood, with their live music performances and satisfying food.

Thank you to Zomato once again and to Punta for hosting this visit.

PuNta Manila ( known as Puñta before ) is situated at Mandala Park in Mandaluyong City. It's a decent watering hole that serves Latin American inspired dishes with local ingredients sourced locally in the Philippines.

As interesting as its name, it was tremendously appealing for us to taste their selection of Anticuchos or the traditional Peruvian street fare consisting of skewered meat and innards!

We love how tender their Mollejas de Pollo or chicken gizzard is. We also love their Higado de pollo or chicken liver, and Chinchulines or pork intestines that are equally tasty and savory.

Anticuchos is similar to Filipino street food, like our all time favorite, “isaw”.

PuNta Manila got their edge and served theirs with their house salsa and sauces: crema de ajo, chimichurri, salsa roja and hot aceite de Puñta (which we all loved!)

Aside from their Anticuchos, I also enjoyed eating their Nacho Mexicana! I love how the Red Bean Chili, Crunchy Cabbage, baked pulled chicken, cheese, pico de gallo, frijole charros, and garlic cream went well together.

And lastly their cute Chorittos! ( round churros that would resemble a munchkin ) served with either Chocolate or Dulce de Leche dip

Now to call it a Night,

PuNta is a perfect place where you can enjoy live performances! (Along with a few bottles of beer or a glass of cocktail or whiskey).

PuNta can also be a place where you can sing your heart out or request your favorite song then sing-along with the band. (Must-try!)***

All Thanks to Zomato and Mr. Paolo Bediones for the invite! Sure we had one hell of a night!! Cheers!

A little-known place that’s been right under our noses is a bar restaurant in Mandala Park called PuNta. (Mandala Park is located along Shaw Boulevard, right where Puregold is.) TV host/radio announcer turned entrepreneur, Paolo Bediones had originally named it PuÑta (pronounced “punyeta”, a curse word in Spanish), an outcry of frustration on the recent events of his life and a symbolism of recovery. However, society wasn’t ready for such a bold statement, so PuÑta became PuNta, which meant “point” in Spanish and “to go/come” in Filipino. Hence, the establishment also came to be known as PuNta Mandala with the possible interpretation of “Mandala Point” or “Come to Mandala”...[Read more]

Punta is a restobar located at the Mandala Park along Shaw Boulevard. Punta has a spacious indoor area divided into three sections: the main dining area, the mezzanine area for those who want more privacy and the sunken lounge for those who want to just drink and relax. An al fresco area can also be found right in front of the main entrance; the area is tented for rainy days and is excellent for those who want to enjoy the night air or for the smoking crowd. It’s no secret that I am a big fan of tapas & dry aged-chorizos, and when I had an invite at this up and coming Latin American restaurant in Shaw, I just couldn't say no. All thanks to Zomato!

My absolute favorite? Ropa Vieja. Chunks of burnished pork belly squeezed into a puffy broth that's actually stewed for long periods of time. On our first visit these tasted monochromatically salty, but there's been ongoing tweaking over the first several weeks, and for our second sampling, a slathering of mojo added a much needed note of contrast. Strips of platanos are present as garnishing, yet it exudes authenicity in a very good way.

The menu is an eye-opening melange of Latin fusion with elements of Cuban, Haitian, Mexican, Peruvian, Venezuelan, Spanish, Mariscos, Argentinian and even New Mexican ingredients used in sundry and creative ways. As with true fusion, menu items have combined those elements – Mexican chimichurri with Spanish grilled lenguas, for example. It wouldn’t be a true fusion restaurant if diverse, sometimes disparate culinary traditions, elements and ingredients didn’t form an entirely unique genre. Punta is a true fusion restaurant, not one which offers menu items from several Latin speaking nations.

So - after two trips and nearly twenty dishes (yes, there were still others I tried that I didn't describe here) - how do I feel about Punta? Let me state it simply: this is already one of the top restaurants in Mandala Park. It is not exactly ground-breaking, and it is not entirely flawless. But the food is flavorful and fun, sometimes even complex and elegant. The menu is ambitious and diverse. The space, and the staff, all exude elegance without stuffiness - though on our two visits, the venue is a bit warm & food's been taking quite a while to be served still. It is a relief to see Mr. Paolo Bediones (one of its owners, a well-known TV personality) come to town and not feel compelled to dumb down the brand, but instead seek out ways to expand and adapt it to the local audience.

PS: If you're into feel good, live music entertainment, then Punta is the place for you. Everyday of the week, expect live performers from acoustic indie artists to the country's top key players in the industry!

Punta also has a stage and a complete sound system for regular performances! Best part is there is never an entrance or cover charge!

Punta was established by TV celebrity Mr. Paolo Bediones. Mr. Bediones first named the place Puneta (very catchy) but eventually changed it to Punta because of some problems the word Puneta might cause in a predominantly conservative society. Mr. Bediones is very passionate about Punta and is always working on improving the ambiance, food and service with his personable and hands-on approach. He is usually there to oversee the operations and get a feel of the crowd and the flow of things. Do approach him and chat with him if you get a chance!

The food at Punta is predominantly Latin American but mixed with some western cuisine. We were able to taste a variety of food from their appetizers to their desserts. Here are the dishes that we tasted with my comments on each:

APPETIZERS
Patatas Bravas -twice fried potatoes with cheese sauce and paprika aioli.
Cuban Corn -grilled corn shredded and tossed in their 8 spice blend.
Nachos Mexicana -my favorite among the appetizers! The freshly made nachos are a stark contrast to the ready cooked bagged ones that many other restobars serve.
Anticuchos Beef Tongue -needs a little bit of consistency because some of the orders were a bit rubbery; but the ones that were cooked right were quite good!
Anticuchos Chicken Heart -very good. A must try here at Punta.
Sopa de Maiz -creamy corn soup. This could use a little more taste.
Sopa de Mariscus -spanish seafood soup. A thick soup that is rich in flavor.

MAIN COURSES

Punta Burger/Chorizo Burger -very tasty but has these stringy ligament-like pieces of meat in the patty. I think the patty needs to be cooked a little more to lessen the stringy bits. The 8 spice flavored fries were very good.
Plato Asado (Chicken Breast or Pork Belly) -the Plato Asado is and should be their main seller! The smell of the grilled meat is very appetizing and the meat are quite tender. The various sauces are also very interesting (Latin American sauces).
Callos -a promising dish that just needs more consistency in the cooking process. Tripe is not easy to prepare.
Ropa Vieja -shredded beef brisket. The taste is too similar to the Callos.

DESSERT

Churritos -fried munchkins with chocolate or dulce de leche dip! yummy!
Dulce De Leche Crepe -ice cream on tortilla! much like the popular ice cream crepe but this time with a Latin American twist.

COCKTAILS

We were served a variety of cocktails. I am a whisky drinker (straight or on the rocks) so I cannot really give good comments but most of the cocktails I tried were pretty good and well prepared.

Punta is a great place to get a meal, have drinks, or enjoy good music. You can even reserve the whole place for an event! Parking is readily available and they can handle big crowds with their spacious setup and well trained staff. I am definitely bringing my friends here for some drinks.

Thanks to Zomato and Punta for giving us a chance to experience Punta's food, service, ambiance and music!

The Mandala Park will revolutionize the food selections against the hustle and bustle of Shaw Boulevard. And serving as its front liners is Punta serving delicious dishes from Latin America.
Let me first talk about the ambiance - whether you're looking for a good place to eat, or a place to listen to live music, or have a night cap, or have a blissful date with your special someone, you should not go further and consider this place. The place is spacious with a beautiful AL fresco dining nurturing the cool January breeze. Whilst inside is very laid back with great singer and a large projector screen where you can watch your favorite games. A VIP room as dwells on the second floor perfect for more intimate celebrations for the barkada.
The food has pretty good range of appetizers, soups and mains. And surprisingly decent desserts.
If you need a night cap, they also have a great range of alcoholic beverages, wine and scotch selection.
The food, place and service were phenomenal but the food had its own hits and misses. So let me talk instead of the ones I absolutely loved!
Must Order:
Nachos Mexicana - delicious nachos poured with generous load of cheese!
Beef Tounge - grilled beef tongue perfectly paired with a cold bottle of beer
Tequila Pasta - not to worry because this isn't going to make you tipsy. It kinda tastes like Mac N Cheese.
Plato Asados - I hope you come in two's when you pay Punta a visit because these 2 is a MUST ORDER FOR REALZZZZ! The chicken and pork portions are so juicy, soft and flavorful and it blends perfectly well with the flavored rice!
Punta Burger - egg with burger? Who would've thought that combination would be good. We'll you have to try this one!
Churritos - surprisingly decent dessert. Order the Dulce the Leche rather than the cake. It's definitely a great end to a hearty Latin American meal!
Thanks to the management of Punta and Mr.Paolo Bediones for hosting this foodie meet up.

Punta is one of those stellar places that offers whatever it can to the table.. Aside from food and drinks, what it really aims for is for us customers to have a good time, right from parking your car, up to eating your food, and finally leaving the premises with fun memories.

I appreciated that the resto was well thought out. The location is strategically placed in Ortigas to cater to yuppies, it has space for parking (a factor most resto owners overlook), and different areas to dine, drink, and enjoy. There's an alfresco area, common dining area, sunken space for a more private feel, and a VIP area. The best part is that it has a stage for live performances from local artists such as Kitchie Nadal, MYMP, Paolo Santos, and Jimmy Bondoc BUT you can enter without extra door charge. The owner, Paolo Bediones occasionally jams with them as well.

I went here for dinner and drinks with Zomato's foodie meet-up crowd. Since this is first and foremost a bar, you can go here solely for an after-dinner affair and order pulutan-type dishes. I personally prefer their appetizers: Nachos Mexicana, Cuban Corn, and 8 spice fries for a cheesy, texturiffic, and addicting matches to your chosen poison. (I prefer beer. :>) I also enjoyed devouring their anticuchos: chicken heart and beef tongue (lengua). Despite them being uncanny choices for barbecue, they were able to exceed expectations because of the exquisite "triple S" taste--salty, sweet, and smokey. I mean, I actually enjoyed it too much that when I finished eating up my share of the skewers, I felt sad. LOL. Guisados such as the Ropa Vieja is a great choic too. It was a tasty plate of saucy shredded beef brisket perfect for meat lovers like me.

I also enjoyed other dishes that are perfect for lunch/dinner such as the Sopa de Maiz, a sweet and corny (hehe) flavor to start off the night. Plato Asado dishes (Chicken breast & Pork Belly) are no-brainers--YOU SHOULD ORDER THEM. Just make sure you can handle the occasional craving for it a few days after your visit. For dessert, the Churritos are an absolute must-try. These fried munchkins can rule the world someday.

Comfort food options I enjoyed are the Punta burger (just say that you prefer your sunny side-up eg malasado because they might overcook it) and their shrimp and Chorizo pasta. For cocktails, their Salty Snow Queen got me mind-blown with a delicious, coconut flavor I rarely encounter.

Despite (a tad bit) slow service during our stay, I will vouch for it. Punta is more than just a bar & grill, it's a foodie haven of latin-american flavors and drinks. Their food plus good music and great company is a lethal combination perfect for anyone's Friday night. Can't wait to be back!

Punta Comida Callejera was a revamped Puñta bar with the same menu, but with a platform/stage for daily band performances. It serves Latin inspired dishes and bar chows. It doubles as a restaurant in the morning and converts to a bar at night. At the first glance, they have different areas from the regular dining area, to lounge, and al fresco.

Nachos Mexicana was fried flour tortillas generously topped with cheese sauce, salsa, and ground beef picadillo. I like how they presented this dish. The mixture of flavors in this dish is like a Mexican fiesta in your mouth. Oozing cheeziness blended the crispy tortilla and compliments with everything.

Anticuchos was their skewered meats with spiced vinegar. We were served the beef tongue and chicken heart. It reminded me of Japan's Yurakucho alley where they served yakitoris. It is the unusual parts that they use in yakitori like innards. It was perfectly grilled that gave it a charry-burnt flavor that complimented with the flavorful spiced vinegar.

Sopa de Mariscus is their seafood soup that reminded me of a seafood bisque. It is nice, smooth, creamy texture with the flavor notes of crab fat and shrimp heads. It was served with some chopped squid & shrimp.

Chorizo Burger was chorizo patty, pickled red onions, coleslaw, banana aioli in brioche bun. I like the smokey, paprikaish chorizo patty with the right amount of fat that makes it juicy. It was served with a patatas bravas siding.

Pork Belly plato asado was chopped grilled pork belly served with annatto rice and corn salsa on the side. The pork belly was cooked perfectly with a nice charry finish. It is best paired with the chimichurri sauce that has a citrusy, herby flavor that compliments all their grilled items.

Ropa Viejo was a shredded beef brisket stew in annatto-sofrito broth, Perfectly tender beef in a tomatoey-peppery broth that is both light and refreshing. It is similar to a pares, light broth and soft meat.

Churritos is their version of churros like a munchkin that is served with either Chocolate or Dulce de Leche sauce. It has a perfect chewy texture like a donut, but because of its size, i lack the light texture of the original thin churros. The chocolate sauce is made from tablea cocoa that is not that sweet that makes it perfectly paired with the sugar dusted churritos.

Punta just reminds me of the bars in the late 90's and 2000's, my era, that has a chill ambience and a perfect band to enjoy the night. What more can I ask for, good food, great music, and fun friends.

I never thought I'll go to the stretch of Shaw blvd to satisfy my cravings. Let alone find a decent chill place to dine, drink and be merry.

Then I was introduced to Punta.

It was definitely a surprise. I didn't even know there was a place like this. It's situated at Mandala Park (used to be Liberty Center) and one of the good thing about the place is their huge parking space.

The place looks modern. I like how one of it's owners (Paolo Bediones), designed it personally and I think he did a good job.

But more than the aesthetics, I think the owners are more passionate about their food. I like how they took almost an hour to discuss what their food was about.

They offer Latin-American food at a really competitive price. Please believe me when I say that it really does taste like an authentic latin american food.

You have got to order atleast one of their Appetizers. Personal favorite is the Nachos Mexicana. Huge serving and really tastes good, all that cheese and piccadillo is just yummy AF.

Best part for me was the Anticuchos which is basically marinated skewered meats. Chicken heart was the best chicken heart i've tasted ever. Perfect with their vinegar.

I also liked their Plato Asado. Chicken was tender and flavorful but what really sets it apart from other plato asado served vy other latin american joint here in the Ph is their Chimichurri sauce, wait erase that, ALL THEIR SAUCES. I would love to take them out if only it was possible! Really yum!

Theybalso have guisados. I recommend Ropa Vieja. For the soup, get the one with Shrimp in it. And for those who like burger I suggest you get their take on the chori burger.

Overall, i'm very satisfied with what they have to offer. Di ka mapapahiya when you bring someone in.

And did I mention they also have live bands, every night? And not just random bands, they get really cool local bands every now and then!

So It's a no brainer, i'm coming back. And you should try it now, as in now.

Punta Mandala foodie meetup would be one of my most memorable so far, simply because I never expect to meet in person and even talk to Paolo Bediones.  He is one of the owners of this elegant restaurant and bar.  What was the place and the food like?  Well read on and find out. Paolo Bediones joins the live band

Punta Comida Callejera serves Latin American inspired dishes with ingredients sourced locally in the Philippines. Paolo Bediones (one of the owners) shared to us a brief history of how they all started. Their name used to be Puñta (as in Punyeta) so as to sound catchy, something to tickle the curious minds of the public and a sure conversation starter. However, since we are in the Philippines and the conservative majority tend to find the restaurant's name offensive, they had to change it to Punta (meaning, point in Spanish). Now the ambiance? Oh I like how cozy the place is. With warm, blue, pink and purple lights, Im betting that you'll easily love this restaurant-turned-bar at night. The place is huge which is separated into the main dining, mez or vip room, lower room with comfortable red couches and of course alfresco dining area which you'll definitely enjoy specially in the cool of the night. They have live band everyday with OPM artists playing for Punta like Freestyle, True Faith, Paolo Santos and MYMP to name a few.

Punta Mandala served us dishes that transcend national borders - yes, from Latin America straight to Asia. I love it! Ive always been a fan of Latin American cuisine and after being introduced to this restaurant through a foodie meet-up invite by Zomato Philippines, I now have more reasons to love carne asadas and other peruvian, argentinian dishes.

For appetizers we had their Patatas Bravas, Cuban Corn, Nachos Mexicana and 8 spice fries. My favorite would be their Nachos as they made their very own fried tortilla chips topped with picadillo, jalapeño cheese sauce and pico de gallo! Sooo good! I suggest the Patatas Bravas to be fried to a crisp rather than soft. The Cuban Corn needs some spice or more seasoning to it. The 8 spice fries was a crowd favorite. Its crispy and yummy.

After the appetizers, we had some Anticuchos (skewered meats marinated in spiced vinegar). Honestly, I was hesitant to try both as its my first time to try Chicken heart and Grilled Beef Tongue. I was surprised that it wasnt so bad after all.

For soup, we had two: Sopa de Maiz and Sopa de Mariscus. The first one tasted like your normal corn soup and lacks some rich and creamy texture to it. However, I like how its served with thinly sliced grilled tortilla. The Mariscus soup is more for the seafood lovers. Its thick and creamy, one can smell crab fat mixed in it.

For pasta, we had their Tequila Pasta and Shrimp and Chorizo Pasta. One cant barely taste the tequila on their tequila pasta thus this dish needs a bit of a kick, probably more spice so as to give it a more distinct flavor. The other pasta was good and tasty.

For mains we had their plato asado and guisados. The chicken breast and pork belly latin american barbecue meat served with annato rice and two sides were a hit for me! I enjoyed eating them both. We had issues with their guisados. They served us callos (beef cheeks, tripe stewed in spanish tomatoes, red wine and spices topped with crispy garbanzos). The sauce needs more texture but the tripe was boiled perfectly. They also served Ropa Vieja (shredded beef brisket stew with annato and sofrito latino). Id probably eat this one when Im sick. Its taste is so comforting. Mmmmm

We were served with two burgers: 1. Punta (pure sirloin beef patty, fried egg, tomatoes and caramelized onions on a spanish brioche bun served with side 8 spice fries) 2. Chorizo (chorizo picante patty, fried egg, pickled red onions, coleslaw and sweet banana aioli on a spanish brioche bun served with patatas bravas). Both taste average to me but if you ask which one I liked better, Id say I'll go for Punta.

For desserts we had their churritos and crepes topped with vanilla ice cream. I was expecting that their churritos would have your usual crispy churros texture so I was surprised that they came out to be some sweet fried munchkins with puntas warm chocolate and dulce de leche dip. I enjoyed the latter dip better. The crepe was forgettable and could be improved.

Since its a bar at night, they served us a few cocktail shots like their punch me ponche, tropical zombie and their bestseller, salty snow queen. All were great for light drinkers like me.

Overall, I enjoyed my dining experience here. Did I mention that their prices are so reasonable too? So gooo! Dont pass up on the chance to enjoy a chill night out with your friends or loved one. I cant wait to be back! Thank you again Zomato Philippines and Punta Mandala for the invite.

Cheers!

Love the coziness of this place and it's versatility. You have the option of dining in while listening to latin/bossa music or outside with a live band. This latin fusion restobar has created a soothing atmosphere for diners to feast while enjoying a cocktail during a live band. The servers are friendly, well trained, & their bathrooms are very clean. Considering this place grills food, there's no smell at all inside the resto & smoking is outside only. I frequent this place often to enjoy good food & music. I've tried almost everything(except pork dishes) & it's hard to narrow down my favorite. See you here!

Just came here for dinner and not for drinks. For starters, we had the Queso Quesadillas ala Medialuna and the Callos (Pan y Chapuzon version). The Quesadillas were very good with generous amounts of their salsa toppings. It is served on a wood board like a half-pizza. However, their Callos were forgettable (but the toasted tortillas that came with it were very nice).

For mains, we had the Pincho de Cerdo (pork) and the Pechuga de Pollo (chicken breast). Both were good but our favorite for the night was the Cerdo (the taste of grilled pork is tough to beat!). The included corn was nice and sweet, their chili beans also good. But their arroz amarillo (yellow rice) felt like leftovers and was too thick & heavy. Not my type of rice (but it comes free with the Pollo order). I erred in ordering an extra bowl which we did not finish. Their sauce tray is a nice selection of condiments. We liked the chili oil and coriander the most.

Being a cool evening, we dined al fresco. There was even a small band and singer belting out tunes in the al fresco area, and this being  Sunday night. Overall, a good value at least for the food. Not sure of the value for alcoholic drinks though.

Finally a decent watering hole on shaw boulevard! And it's open to 3am on all days!
Quite an extensive liquor menu though I did not notice any wines.
We had jack n coke and a few patron anejo shots. Prices are almost the same as any decent bar in makati
For food we tried the gambas (the worst gambas I've eaten) and to tostados with chicken (so good that we ordered another serving!)
Good service. Has got nice outside seating with candle lit tables.

Cheers to the weekend: to good vibes, good music & good food. And what cuisine can provide all of that, Latin American! Yes, our Latin American brothers & sisters definitely know how to celebrate life at its fullest. Their culture and cuisine transcends time, and would always have a festive vibe infused in it.

Enter, PUÑTA, a hip & new hidden gem at The Park in Liberty Center along Shaw Boulevard. It's a definite Comida Callejera (translated as food sold by outside vendors / street food), which serves the best of South American and Latin American Street food cuisine. They opened back in October (2014) and is slowly growing a following for their delicious food and intimate Latin American experience may it be fine dine or their night life. It's popularly owned by Paolo Bediones along with a few other business partners as well.

I had the fortunate experience to dine here thanks to the adventurous and "Carpe Diem" attitude of Zomato Philippines. So let's get down to business:

PROTONS (+):
+ Location. I can say they are in an exclusive location within the Shaw Boulevard area as I can definitely guarantee right now, living near this zone, that they're the most happening and classiest place with a night life on this neck of the metropolis. Their place can provide that exclusivity and escape with some privacy as you enjoy your drinks and meals.
+ Interiors. Yes, they remind you of a club/bar feel with the high chairs and tables, but they also serve fine dine lunch or dinner and Al Fresco dining. They have this unique chandelier the moment you enter that is definitely IG-worthy, as it is a bunch of bottles formed in a circular fashion, accented with dimmed lights.
+ the Food. Oh yes, this is what I can highly recommend. Tired of traditional Mexican food? Well, PUÑTA goes another level by representing Mexican, Argentinian, Peruvian and the list goes on with other Latin American cuisines. They serve:
> Apertivos (Appetizers),
> Plato Asados (plates of their generous meat which is full meal with their special rice & beans),
> Barbacoas (their grilled meats with chicken, beef & pork choices),
> Guisados (their slow-cooked stews which will remind you of your Mom's great home cooking),
> Anticuchos (morsels of skewered meats, best known to be Peruvian street food, it's their version of our street "isawan" and BBQ)
> Tacos, Burritos, Quesadillas (served generously through different Latin styles, traditional and authentic)
> Pan y Chapuzón (an Argentinian snack made of stew & fries tortillas), and their
> Guarnaciones (side dishes), Postres (deserts), and of course, their Cerveza (beer and liquor)
+ my personal favorite would be their Vientre de Cerdo Plato Asado. It's Pork Belly with crema de ajo (garlic sauce), Chimichurri (cilantro w/ parsley & vinegar), Salsa Roja (mix of tomatoes, paprika & pimientos) and Pico De Gallo. It also has Spanish Rice, Stewed Red Bean Chili, and Roasted Corn. The mix of the sauces compliment and highlight the pork. And the rice is perfectly steamed, they all mash up with a serving of beer.
+ their Menu. It gives you a Latin 101 with how meals, food items and meats are called and what sauces come with it. You know what you get and you learn in the process.

ELECTRONS (-):
- though their location is progressive and surely in no time, other more establishments will make their area a new hotspot, it's quite a challenge to find them, especially if you're new to the area. If you're from the South and you're not frequently visiting Shaw Boulevard, you'll miss your turn to this place. Their signs along Shaw aren't as visible especially at night because your car lights will reflect over the banner they have. Better rely on Zomato's in app map, then.
- I guess this is just a pet peeve of mine, but their Iced Tea was bland. I'm unsure if they use a commercial brand, but I drank around 2 glasses of this during dinner, so can't help but comment on it.

VEREDICTO:
Are you looking for a change in cuisine? Wanting to try flavors of Latin America besides your traditional and commercial Mexican food? Then this is the perfect place for it. Enjoy a night out with friends over good food and good drinks.

Don't let the restaurant's PUÑny name fool you, they pack all the punch which will make you say their name again and again and again.

Cheers!
