I've patronized Pepi since they were just a take-out window at an old house in Dian St, Makati. I just craved for Cubanos especially after Jon Favreau's "Chef." The same guy who brought in RDJ for the role of Tony Stark in the first "Iron Man" movie. This was in 2008 when he both directed the movie and played Happy Hogan, Tony Stark's driver.

This will be the second time for me to try their rice meals. This time I opted for the Pollo Asado Cubano (P195), Queso Rollo (P65) and a Guava Lemonade (P80).

Their Cuban garlic roast chicken was really good. Crispy skin, juicy meat and well-cooked thru. My pet-peeve with chicken dishes is if I find blood near the bone area. I could eat medium rare beef or raw fish but I can never eat poorly cooked chicken or pork for that matter. I guess in these instances l'm a germophobe.

The flavors were spot on South American with the combination of salsa made of tomatoes, onions, parsley and a sprinkling of corn kernels. The well-fried scrumptious plantains helped, too.

I was surprised at the size of the Queso Rollo. I thought from the pictures it would be small. Good meal at a good price.

To be honest, i only tried this bacause i love the movie “Chef” and i got curious on cuban food. Well, Pepi Cubano surely didn’t disappoint. Their bread is crunchy and flavorful with that touch of butter while grilling. The beef and onions, soft and complement each other. Will comeback and try their other sandwiches.

Perfect merienda! I love the crunch of the bread. Very flavorful meat. Very simple, right serving and affordable. Will definitely gonna come back.

Success is really something that will come if your food tastes very good.  I remember my first encounter with this brand, March 2016 at Valero Eat Street 2.  During that time they only have one physical store and that's it but today they have 8 outlets so far in Metro Manila.  Here is our PEPI CUBANO REVIEW.

I have no idea what an authentic Cuban sandwich spot could offer, but I have a feeling Pepi Cubano comes close! I've had the pleasure of trying their Pan De Bistec and Tito Choripan. Color me impressed! My only gripe is things can get oily at times, so make sure to ask for lots of tissue so there's no issue! If they add more variety to their menu, specially their drinks, I just might change my rating from 4 stars to 5! 👌🏼

Pepi Cubano serves excellent sandwiches - crusty and full of flavor. They dispense with veggies like cabbage or tomatoes or cucumber and, in their case, it really makes for a hearty, tasty sandwich.

We had Pan de Bistecca - thinly sliced beef with caramelized onions providing sweetness, spicy shoestring potatoes the crunch and spice. Pan de Pollo with roasted chicken is also good.

We had their fried banana chips - Tostones - at php 100 for 3 packs - in bbq and cheese flavors

The Cuban flavor is now in Manila! Almost all types of cuisines can be found now in Philippine shores. It was interesting to discover, however, that Arroz ala Cubana is one of their staple dishes. I had this sweet and savory combination of a meal since I was a child.

I also had one of their many picks of sandwiches, Pan de Gayuba. It was a flat sandwich with cream cheese and guava jam. It was like Cuba's version of the American peanut butter and jelly. This was a good deal for just Php. It was simple yet filling and delicious!

This was once located at the food hall at Mega Fashion Hall before it moved to a bigger space at the second floor of Building A. I used to like the Pan de Pollo but I now switched to their bestseller, the Pepi Cubano. One cubano sandwich is huge enough and very filling (I can’t finish it in one sitting). It has generous slices of pork.

Don’t miss their version of turon, the Cigarro Cubanos. I love the taste but I honestly think the price is steep at 75php per piece. We just got them in a buy 1 get 1 promo the last time we ate there.

Much like some of the people here, I was introduced to cubanos through the movie Chef. Ever since, I've always wanted to try one but it just isn't a popular dish here in the Philippines... that is, until Pepi Cubano.

Eating the original Pepi Cubano is a literal feast of the senses - the sandwich smelled of both butter and mustard, it was perfectly toasted and crisp that upon biting it there was an actual crunching sound, and the flavors just exploded once it hit my tongue. The other variant that I was able to try, the Torrejas, literally translates to French toast. When combined with ham and egg, it is like a Cuban version of a breakfast burger/burrito. It was just a regular ham and egg sandwich topped with maple syrup. Between the two, I'd still pick the original.

Their only dessert option, called a Cigarro Cubano because of its look resembling a Cuban cigar, is their version of our local turon. It was dense and tightly packed with banana and chocolate hazelnut and the wrapper was a bit too thick so it was a bit heavy on the tummy.

Ultimately, I will have to thank my friend who gave me a copy of Chef. If it wasn't for him, I wouldn't have known what a cubano is and I would have missed out on this delicious sandwich variant.

Finally tried Pepi Cubano ☺
I've been hearing good reviews on their cuban sandwiches and they did not disappoint. We also tried their Pan de Bistec, Arroz ala Cubana, Cigarro Cubanos and Guava Lemonade.

Pan de Bistec- thinly sliced beef with  shoestring potatoes, cheese, jalapeños and caramelized onions.
Cigarro Cubanos- Chocolate hazelnut banana fritters.

Love their bread; it's uniquely crisp. I wish the sandwich was a lil more spicy though (without the help of hot sauce). Arroz ala cubana, yum also. The plantain was perfectly cooked.

Cigarro Cubanos (cuban version of our turon?)lol, I think the egg-roll wrapper is an overkill. The banana is wrapped first in a chocolate-crepe-like thingy before the egg-roll/lumpia wrapper. The wrapper is crispy but tough towards both ends once fried.

Can't wait to try their #1 Pepi Cubano Sandwich and Tito choripan.
