A good lunch stop. Lor Mee and the Shredded pork was really good. I don't understand the other reviews calling out the serving sizes. I ordered a lunch set for myself but I think the size was good enough for 2 or even 3. Must try. I was the only one dining at the time so all their attention was on me, I couldn't ask for more. I also love the take out bag. :-)
PROS: Food is high quality and authentic, serving size is adequate, servers are attentive and prompt, place is clean, food presentation is unique eye-catching, ambiance is suitable for its price points.
CONS: There were too many waitstaff on the floor. Some seats/tables do not afford much privacy.
I found the noodles (Lor Mee and Bee Hoon)

By far my biggest food surprise of 2019, Putien is a refreshing addition to the Chinese food market scene. Locally, we have a vast number of “Cantonese” restaurants, easily dwarfing the numbers of Shanghainese, Szechuan, and Peking. Putien is known for their traditional Hokkien diets and I came away impressed. Perhaps it was the constant Peking duck or sweet and sour pork we would expect from a “Chinese” restaurant, a change was definitely needed. That’s why I truly appreciated Putien’s excellent Hokkien fare, from the bee hon noodles to the taro. Don’t forget to order the crabs and the pork buns as well!
Everything tasted so fresh, clean and authentic. Its become one of my favorite restaurants in mnl!
We liked our chicken n veggies meal here a lot! Claypot Chicken in Fermented Red Rice Wine was very tasty! Succulent chunks of chicken in thick red gravy. Stir Fried Yam was quite unique. Spinach with Salted Egg and Century Egg in Supreme Stock was a revelation - really good. Sambal Kangkong was ok.
Top quality oolong tea Tieguanyin was expensive but good.
Chilled Loquat in Herbal Jelly was a good dessert
Their yellow Crocker fish is really fresh. I liked this dessert selections, tofu, yam and misua.
OMG! They have the best pepper crab in the metro - the very same taste I love Singapore for. The sauce is perfect. The 100-second stewed yellow croaker is also delightful. Both very fresh. My hubby liked the crispy oyster - I only took a mouthful as I was so busy with my crab. The deep-fried durian puree was a nice ending to our meal. Truly deserving of a Michelin star!
Manila's food scene is on fire with the influx of local and foreign brands opening left and right. And with Singapore's One-Michelin Star Putien entering the market, we could definitely say that Christmas came in early this year.
Hello, Putien!
Putien started as a humble coffee shop in Singapore back in 2000. Named after Putian, a suburb of Fujian, China, it was Putien's founder, Mr. Fong Chi Chung's way to pay tribute to his hometown. By serving food made with fresh ingredients and packed with flavors, Putien eventually grew into a full scale restaurant and earned its One-Star Michelin in 2016. Now with several branches worldwide, Putien found a new home in Manila, its 67th worldwide.
Enjoyed the food here, but service needs serious improvement.
This restaurant serves Fujian cuisine. It is not your traditional Chinese restaurant, which is generally Cantonese fare.
The free pork buns were great and very tasty. The shrimp in garlic was excellent. And their tea is served differently and definitely worth a try.
Putien serves delicious, authentic food from my ancestral hometown of Putian City. I will definitely come again. Only grouse is that the Large Lor Mee (800+ peso) on my visit has too little ingredients (Photo is from my first visit). I am quite sure Putien Singapore’s Lor Mee has more ingredients than this.
This is an all time favorite restaurant whenever we travel to Singapore or Malaysia. Quality for the ordered food were quite consistent with its original store in SG cept that the pork trotters were quite burnt thus giving us a bitter aftertaste which made lower the collagen satisfaction. The free sesame pork bun was tad oily. Lor Mee , Braised Tofu & Cabbage Pot and Cereal Prawn were superb! Will go back for this.
A suggestion though that the Self service Checkout process has to be emphasized and make known to Diners. We were kept waiting for the bill when we asked for bill out with all servers being called upon all nod and acknowledged the request and nobody was bringing us the check , later on we realized they were trying to adapt the bill out process of SG MY where diners have to go pay at the cashier themselves.
NEW MICHELIN STAR RESTO ALERT AT THE PODIUM!
The Vikings Group is at it again, this time bringing over One-Michelin-Star Putien , the Singapore-based restaurant to Manila specifically at the 5th level of The Podium Mall.
Putien formally opened its doors to the public last November 15 ...
Another Michelin Star restaurant opens in Manila! The Vikings Group has franchised Singapore’s Putien, offering Fujian or Hokkien cuisine.
Putien as a brand came from Mr. Fong Chi Chung’s hometown, Putian, a city in Fujian, China. The menu is generally flavorful using only premium, fresh ingredients. Expect also some exotic dishes here.
If you’re a first-timer, I highly recommend having the light, 100-Second Stewed Yellow Croaker. It’s stewed for just 100 seconds to give customers a natural sweet taste and tender texture. This is also available in a spicy version. Pair that up with the plump, Homemade Bean Curd. The imported, silken tofu cubes are served with sugar snap peas and mushrooms.
For appetizers, go for the Seaweed and Mini Shrimps Dressed with Sauce and The Shredded Pork with Sesame Bun. The former is a tiny bowl that’s intensely flavored and the latter, value for money starter at only Php 99 per piece.
Then there’s the unconventional serving of the 12 inches, Braised Pig Intestine. It is looped, cooked and extended into 9 folds that translate into a gummy bite.
Putien Century Egg is deep-fried, coated in the tangy crust. The yolk must be soft to create a more satisfying experience.
Another interesting bite would be the collagen filled, Cold Pork Trotters Jelly. This pig’s feet delicacy is a staple in Fujian. The kids might enjoy this, without sharing what it is.
Since this is a Singapore brand, Putien gives you a few of their popular pieces. Go for the Chili Crab with Mantao or a more earthy fill in Black Pepper Crab.
I also found the Cereal Prawns enjoyable. It’s crisp and crunchy, with savory and sweet tastes. Am sure this will be a group favorite.
For dessert, the Chilled Lemongrass Jelly with Fruits will give you a refreshing finish. This is an ideal treat and a palate cleanser too!
For the opening, diners will be treated to a free Putien Shredded Pork with Sesame Bun until November 21. Vikings Reward Card members will be given complimentary featured dessert for the day from November 25 to 29.
