Ambiance is just so-so but you don't eat ambiance! You can't go wrong with this place if you want to fill your tummy and not break the bank. We usually go for the P499 meal, super sulit! Love their fried rice, chicken (admittedly they let it go cold but it's still good) and other side dishes. We've never ordered from the ala carte menu because the P499 meal is the way to go. Take note that if you go late, they stop refilling the side dishes at a certain point so there might not be much left if you arrive late :( Parking is a bit of a hassle in the area though so don't bring a car. For dessert, you can buy some Korean ice cream from one of the nearby Korean grocery stores.

It was the best korean bbq i've ever had, typical hole in the wall joint which i really am comfy with and most importantly the food was amazing, fresh, tasty and very cheap!!!! I would come back again and recommend it to everyone!

So far Matgalne is the only place I know that offers korean bbq in Shang, thus we usually resort to this place to satisfy our kbbq cravings. Surprisingly whenever my friends and I dine here, the place is either empty or has few customers so we’re always accommodated immediately. Their restaurant is spacious, and with each table having grills, it’s very convenient that they have proper ventilation. Matgalne does not offer unlimited meat, but their ala carte serving is good for sharing, plus the price is reasonable considering that they provide premium meat. Each order comes with 10 refillable fresh side dishes (lettuce, kimchi, potatoes, radish, eggplant, soybean sprout etc). We would always go for their samgyeopsal (marinated pork belly) and woo samgyeop (marinated beef belly). The meat is tender and nicely seasoned. I also like that grill is designed that the excess oil will go straightly to the sides, away from where we cook the meat. Service is always good and they gave us complementary hot tea while waiting for the bill.

Overall rating would be 5. Food, ambience is great!
Favorite korean restaurant, I go here often with my family in big groups.
The order tends to delay when the resto is full, but was never served cold or bland.

Their meat servings are generous, better quality than the unli kbbq places Ive been to. I like the food's spiciness overall, not too spicy but just tasty enough.

This is the one and only place that fills my korean cravings!! I have been a fan of their ortigas branch (with unli kbbq) but now I find the whole unli thing and visit their shang branch.

It seemed like they become really crowded on weekends, so probably going at off-peak hours would be better. I didn't have to wait at all and was attained by the waiter every now and then - we were there at 2pm ish recently.

Generally, their food is great, with generous servings and various menus. Some menus have large portions like their meat, soup and appetizers.

If youre sick of the whole unlimited craze, this branch is perfect! Not very noisy, nice ambience, perfect for business or family meetings.

The family loves eating here because we get to eat good food at reasonable prices. Their dishes are delicious and their meat for grilling are of good quality. We also love how generous they are with the side dishes. During the multiple times we've visited, their customer service was always good.

I love their buffet, I had the chance to eat here twice. I love their selection of soups, noodles and fried meat and seafood like the fried chicken and tempura! Unlimited samgyupsal was good, too. I enjoy eating at Matgalne, the place is nice, the service and of course the food.

We typically spend our weekend family dinner/lunch here! We love the unlimited refill of banchan (side dishes) and the healthy food selection too (because of all the veggies! Not sure about the meat though hahaha!). The place is not too pricey and the food is yummy! We love it here! Try their soy garlic fried chicken and their woo samgyup!

We had the family weekend dinner at Matgalne as requested by our niece.  We were seated outside, as the place was full.  We ordered Galbijjim, Bulgogi, Pajeon, Sampgeopsal, Ramen, Bibimbap.  The unlimited side dishes was a plus.   Food tasted very good.  Galbijjim is tender and very flavorful.  Service was very good as well.  Price is average.

I particularly liked the Ramyeon here at Matgalne although they only use instant noodles. Most Korean restaurants only serve spicy ramyun - Matgalne has two variants for the soup base (spicy and mild). My stomach reacts to spicy food so the mild soup base is just right for me. It was also my first time to try the Haemul Pajeon (Korean pancake with green onion and seafood). It was good but their egg rolls (side dish) are the best. For desserts, they offer a lot of Korean branded ice creams. We just chose from their freezer and they just add it up to our bill.

I’ve been searching for a place where i could find spicy cold noodles and i finally found it!!! It tasted authentic! Surprisingly similar to the one i had in Korea.

The meat we had for grilling was good, but it seems a bit overpriced because it had the same quality as some kbbq places who serve unli meat @ 499.

Side dishes were amazing! I loved the potatoes in sweet sauce, the kimchi, and the fish cake!

Will definitely go back for the cold noodles!

This is my top 1 most favorite korean restaurant in Manila! I'm not sure about how authentic their food is but they sure do tastes as one. I would recommend their Woo Samgyeop - it comes with 8 side dishes already which are refillable. If you are looking for premium korean restaurant, this is the best place to go. They have got plenty of options available and the value for money is 💯! I dine to this place almost every Sunday with my mom and it deserves the five star!!

Matgalne has been my favorite korean restaurant especially their buffet ortigas branch. This new Matgalne restaurant in Shanrgrila Mall offer good food as well. We enjoyed Samgyeopsal meal set with 10 side dishes especially my favorite egg roll and fish cake. My only suggestion is to have unlimited steamed rice for those set to match with other competitors. Im surely customers will like it. I hope you also offer hot soup for the customer like bone marrow soup just like the other.

My Favourite!

Granted, it's not the cheapest KBBQ place, but they have such a good selection and even the cheap options are amazing! The Mandu-guk and Seafood Pajeon are winners in the cooked food category and even though they already have free egg banchan, their Gyeran-jim is so fluffy and umami! Servers are efficient, though sometimes it can take a while before your request gets to you, but it's not been an issue.

The tables and floor can get a little slick, like all bbq places, so be careful!

When we ordered a Pajeon to go, they even added all the types of banchan to go with it! That was a pleasant surprise since most restos won't even consider that na.

Good for celebrating (call in advance for large parties) or just treating yo self!

We've been here twice since we love Korean food, from the grilling of the food to the variety of unlimited side dishes. The Haemul Pajeon wasn't the best we've had but the serving size was pleasing. The Samgyeopsal was good and the veggie wraps were huge!

Service was good despite the extra time needed for the trainees to learn the practices of the restaurant. They were generous with water refills and made the effort to smile a little.

Restaurant is good... a bit pricy but good. We ordered the Samgyeopsal and Woo Samgyeop and they were better than most Korean BBQ restaurants I’ve eaten in. The Galbijim is also worth a try. There’s room for improvement with their service but other than that, will definitely be back!

Kimbap-Tuna: It was okay, and big serving.

Samgeopsal: It was alright, full of fat though.

Woo-Samgeop: It was full of fat, but I prefer this than the pork one.

Haemul Pajeon Pancake: At first, I didn’t like it but huhuhu it was so good after my first one (LOL)

The place was pretty, and big. The service wasn’t that good though, but job well done for cooking the meats for us :) I just feel that they need more coordination.

Tried Matgalne Restaurant a few months back. Hopeful this time around that experience will be better.

Ordered Soy Chicken for the piggery. Shades of Bon Chon aside, it was good. Chicken was moist.

Galbi jim my favorite was fall off the bone this time vs before.

All in all the experience was generally better compared to our first visit months back

Our family went here for dinner while staying at Shangri-la Hotel. There were many diners on a Saturday night but there are ample tables when we arrived about 8pm. Indoor seating allows you to grill your own meat but for the “outdoor seaters,” meat is cooked in the kitchen and served on sizzling plates so it is still hot. The menu is more extensive than the other Korean restaurant I’ve been to. We were still a little full from buffet lunch at Heat but I was excited to try this restaurant. It did not disapppoint! The food was seasoned well, very tasty and not salty. Ample refillable side dishes. Will likely come back to try other Korean dishes.

Located at the 6th floor of Shangrila Plaza, Matgalne is a hidden gem among the number of restaurants in the mall. More popularly known for their buffet set up in other other locations, Matgalne in Shang is different as they offer ala carte items only.

Ambiance-4/5
This branch surprising looks a whole lot better than their other branches. I've been to their Makati, J Vargas and this branch so far is the best looking.

Food-4/5
Our group ordered sets of samgyupsal and woosamgyup for the grill, ramyun and kimbap. Their banchan (unli-sides) is so good that I was actually impressed that the Matgalne I know can step up their game for a mall like Shang.

Value-4.5
Value for money! Our order came at around 1.5k total for a group of three. To justify the P500/person, we were so full and satisfied at the end of the meal that we had a hard time standing up 🤣

After I tried korean food the last time, I thought of giving it a try again. So my sibs and I went here and tried their Dishes. Just like the usual, we ordered a Samgyeopsal, which I think is becoming my favorite. Anyway, we went here on a weekend so it's a given that the place is full-packed so we had to wait for a table. It took us an hour so it's a minus. But I can give them a little credit for making us enjoy the food.

The Place: It has a nice ambiance, the interiors are goo to look at too. But I think they should add more tables with grills because I think that's what the guests' prefer. While waiting I heard that the other waiting guests prefer the same thing too. The staff told me that our table wouldn't be the one with a grill but I insisted so we had to wait for another half hour for our request to be granted. I also liked how their tables are spacious enough, though. Matgalne has 3 brances, one is in Makati, the one in Shangri-La and in Ortigas.

The Serving: They served us our meal in a well-presented manner. I guess they should mention the name of the side dish one by one so the guests' would know what the dishes are for them to be aware of what they'll be eating. I also loved how the meat are presented. I'm not a food critic but presentation of the food technically adds up to the impression of the one who will eat it, right? Lol.

The Staff: Is it just me or did the staff really served our food long? I mean it shouldn't take them a while since we'll be the one to grill our food. 🙄 It took them 20 long minutes I thought I was going to starve to death. Another thing, one of their staff is not accommodating. Too bad he was the one to serve us. First, he served us 9 side dishes which was supposedly 12 and he kept on saying, "Wait lang Ma'am/Sir" when we're going to ask for something. We asked for an additional thongs, chopsticks, cabbages, water, the other side dishes, spoon, napkins, and none of it was given immediately. Just by having the thought of it makes me a little annoyed again because clearly they weren't doing their job well. We asked for one thing but they'll get back to us after God knows how many minutes long. We tried asking for a manager but we weren't accommodated. I mean, we paid our meal so I guess we deserve a good service. We ended up asking another staff and he immediately responded to our requests.

The Food: It's all amazingly good. After we had our meal, I was in a food coma. We ordered Samgyeopsal (the premium pork belly) and Woo Samgyeop (the sliced USDA choice beef belly). I really loved the latter because it was easy to grill and chew. The cooking of the pork belly was time consuming and we all enjoyed the second one. So we ordered three plates of those. T'was HEAVEN. I was in HEAVEN. I love how juicy it was, both meats are. And also love their fish cakes, their spinach, egg rolls, and their kimchi is very appealing. Oh, please take note that their side dishes are refillable so don't you worry about lavishing them because you can definitely ask for it again. No additional charges will apply. You can enjoy your dish at your most enjoyable time. The dishes are all scrumptious and tasty. No other words for that.

The Price: The dishes were sold at the most reasonable and affordable price. The Samgyeopsal would only cost you Php 345.00 and Woo Samgyeop for about Php 395.00. The rice is excluded, so you have to add Php 60.00 or if you want to have a soju partnered with your meal, you have to pay Php 200.00 for each bottle. For desserts, we bought Samanco, it's an ice cream wrapped in a fish-like bread. Trust me, it's tasty. Not your ordinary ice cream. Lol. For me, it's affordable and you get to enjoy the meal without thinking about how much you'll pay. They also have other meals that you can choose from (see the menu)
I guess that's pretty much it 😏 You guys can try this out. It's a good place with a really good food, I think I'll be back here again, given that the locations are pretty much convenient for me. No need to travel for hours. It's definitely going to be one of my favorite restos! 😉

Decent Korean BBQ resto at Shang mall.

We had a couple of beef choices for grilling at the table - one was prime short rib and the other was Angus Rib Eye. Priced around Php 900 for 150g each, they were good quality meat. The banchan that were served were ok, I felt they were not as tasty as the ones in a couple of other top Korean restos in the Ortigas/Oranbo area. Still the dishes with radish, eggplant, tofu and the kimchi were good.

They gave us a small soup of soybean paste and cabbage . We ordered a japchae dish which was quite good.

Ignore the other review that says Matgalne "falters in comparison " to the previous Korean restaurant it replaced in the same location.  This restaurant is the real deal. I lived in Korea for five years and made it a point to only eat the finest food from the finest dining establishments. The previous restaurant was total crap in terms of quality, while Matgalne 's food is comparable to the best Korean food you'll get in their 5-star hotels like the Shilla Hotel or the Westin Chosun Hotels in Seoul.  The food is ALWAYS authentically cooked, with nothing but the finest, authentic ingredients and condiments used. (Their kimchi, for instance, is first-class).  I live in a nearby condo, and it is no exaggeration to say that I love this place so much I eat here at least once a week... The service from the smiling staff is always good, and the Korean owner/manager is always friendly, especially as I get to converse with her in Korean... I'm a stickler for absolute authenticity, and, if you want a REAL taste of good Korean food you can't go wrong with, I honestly can't do much better in the Philippines than recommend you try Matgalne.  This is the sort of food actual Koreans will recognize and enjoy, and all at a very reasonable price too... :)  What makes the meal even more worth it is the set of yummy, unlimited, all you can eat grade-A appetizers (including the aforementioned kimchi) they serve along with your orders... Take it from me, whenever I want a REAL, authentic taste of Korea, I ONLY go to Matgalne... It is absolutely SUPERB! :)
