Pagkaing Pinoy na hindi mo inakalang pwede palang i-level up sa sara at presentation. Medyo pricey nga lang lalo yung kwek-kwek pero okay na okay na eating experience. Total ng bill namin ay 1500+ para sa apat na tao.

Kusina Moderne is now my favorite Filipino fusion restaurant! Everything we had was absolutely perfect for a lunch date.

We started it off with the Mechado Tacos, which in our first bite, blew us off right away. The beef was so tender, and the red onions and sour cream complemented the whole dish. Who would’ve thought to put a Filipino staple inside a taco? Yum!
Next we had the Adobong Manok and Tuna Belly with Chimichurri for our ulam. Partnered with sides of their adobo and aligue rice, these two dishes really hit the spot. To finish it off, we had a slice of their Cheesecake Flan for dessert which was the absolute winner for our quick lunch. Inspired by leche flan, it was served with crushed Marie biscuits (everyone’s childhood favorite), mango bits, whipped cream, and walnuts; a dessert I’ll be thinking about as I go back to work in the afternoon.

As compared to authentic Filipino food everything we had was very light in the stomach; flavorful yet balanced. And we really felt all dishes were well thought of. Other than that, the dishes were beautifully plated, service was superb, and price is super worth it. Kusina Moderne is a Poblacion gem! Will definitely go back and try their different dishes. ✨💕

Basing on the name itself, Kusina Moderne is basically a restaurant serving modern, reinvented Filipino recipes that will surely take you down memory lane and tickle your taste for something new. . Mechado Tacos P195. My official, first food for the day was the mechado taco and I was immediately mind-blown. That soft and tender braised beef mechado was more flavorful than I expected. It had a nice play of sweet and salty flavors that later on combined so beautifully with a bit of calamansi juice. I also loved that it had a fried wanton for a taco shell as it was thin and crispy and it highlighted the flavor of the filling. It's definitely a must-try!

The choco mousse brownie tastes amazingly decadent, not too sweet and not too heavy either. Goes great with the vanilla ice cream paired with it. And the sweet mango flan that we received was pretty great too especially when eaten together with the whipped cream beside it provides the perfect balance of the tart sweetness and subtlety of the cream

I don't know if anyone shares the same opinion as me but I think claiming your food as a "modern twist" to a specific cuisine is just a lazy excuse to not  being able to execute a classic dish well. I had my doubts with this resto but when I got to try it, my opinion changed.

It was a weekend when some friends invited me to come join them here for lunch. I had another engagement in Makati so I accepted the invitation. The place felt plain. Like it was trying to have an industrial them but lacked some materials to finish it. Spacious but quite dull in my opinion. When our food was served, I realized why.

The  blank atmosphere of the place became a very nice contrast to the colorful and dynamic flavor of the food that they have. Beautiful and very impressing to the palatte.  Classic filipino favorites all dressed up in a very different way but when tasted, that punch of familiarity kicks in. Below are some of the food items we tried.
> Mechado tacos - Think mechado with a crunch. Or think taco carnitas but pinoy style. Really well cooked meat and the sour note in the end was just perfect!
> Kwek-kwek - Damn! One of my streetfood faves and they have elevated it to a whole new level. The egg was soft-boiled and the yolk was runny. Loved it so much. The fritters on the side added some teture to it.
> Binagoongang Baboy - Very very tender pork and the puree was just magic to the taste.

Really impressed with this place. Hopefully they continue to deliver on tastes and wow us more.

We’ve all tasted Filipino food before, but have you tried Filipino food at Kusina Moderne in Poblacion yet? It’s a different take on our classic favorite Filipino dishes. With its no-nonsense industrial interior design mainly of wood and steel, the place is clean and open. Bright, warm lights light up the place. And really, the place doesn’t need any frilly decorations, because I think they want you to focus on what really matters: the company of friends, and most especially their delicious Filipino food.

Maslow could not have summarized human needs any more elaborately, human beings subsists on fundamental needs in the order as he described, the core of which is physiological, safety and love and belongingness. Some say that you need the first three to get to the last 2 hence they are considered core,
Kusina Moderne is a microcosm of this.

It’s a restaurant that provides superb Pinoy food under a spartan, yet cozy banquet (this is nearing farm to table levels) with an open kitchen that constantly hums adulation for good cuisine and exceptional company. It manages to thoroughly satisfy the most fundamental gastronomic needs like a straight line that connects 2 separate dots. I love their rendition of Pinoy classics spruced with a unique western twist. From the savory and unbelievably tender Mechado tacos, to their perfectly smoke grilled grilled tuna belly drizzled with zesty chimichurri to their creatively crafted embotido scotch eggs, the superb variation breaks the monotony the Pinoy palate occasionally experiences.

Do you remember the food served during your family’s get-togethers? The recipes passed down from your great-grandmas? The dishes that your mom and titas magically put together in the kitchen before calling everybody in to partake of the meal?. These are comfort food: down-home cooking that evoke a feeling of well-being. They may not be haute cuisine nor even exciting at times but they do call to mind the joys of childhood and family.
