This resto is literally a two-minute walk from our office in Rada Street, so whenever we wanted to have a nice, affordable lunch out (or after-work drinks), we go to Don Bao. The beef cubes were perfectly cooked- juicy and tasty, while their crispy chicken karaage skin came with a large serving. For dessert we got the fried bao with milo and condensed milk which turned out really nice too.
Don Bao is a nice little Japanese resto along Rada Street. They offer affordable yet filling meals (and unlimited rice refills for rice bowls). The taste of the food is authentic and the ambiance is quiet and chill. The place is usually packed during lunch time and they sometimes run out of stock on the ramen.
The first time I went here, my friend had the spicy salmon roll and I ordered the Katsudon, it was tender and pretty standard. Initially we thought that the serving is small because of the photos in the menu but they're big in actual.
Second time my friend and I went here, we shared a plate of Crunchy California roll, Gyoza and Chicken skin karaage. I clearly enjoyed our second visit because the food was really good that I forgot to take photos of them.
If you're dining here, it's better to share with friends because of the serving size and so you can try many dishes at once.
Overall, I definitely recommend the Spicy Salmon roll, Crunchy California roll, Chicken skin karaage and some miso soup to complete your meal.
My faves here are ninja rolls and chicken skin. They are the kinds of don bao goodies you’d crave from time to time. I still haven’t eaten dine-in cos usually I have it delivered but I wanna try more of what’s in their menu.👌🏼😊

The food is great! Easy 4/5 for the donburi but the roll deserves 5 stars. 🌟 🌟 🌟 🌟 🌟 The ambience is good but the sits in the middle of anticipation to mild irritation. We went here during lunch time, though, so it's understandable that the staff might have had their hands full. I went here during my internship so it's kind of pricey for me. Now that I'm working, I'm willing to try it again. The food is definitely worth going back for.
Heard about this place from a friend so I went and tried it out last July.
I tried the SoFISHticated Bao. It’s basically fish tempura with coriander and some pickles. The taste is a bit sweet because of its sauce. The mayo used here is miso-based. I love how soft the texture of their bao is!
The ebi tempura was so filling! It’s 3 pieces only (best to eat with chahan rice if you don’t like to eat bao).
However, when I ordered this last Nov. 13, 2018, I was disappointed that the tempura shrinked :( I imagined it how it was like 4 months ago with the same quality.
But overall, I like Don Bao for its price range. It’s affordable and it will satisfy your Japanese food cravings.
I didn’t expect that they have good food!!!! ❤️❤️❤️❤️ although it’s quite expensive but it’s worth it!! I tried their gyudon that comes with unlimited japanese rice. The sauce is perfect together with their tender beef. Ohh, the service is quite big also.
I also ordered their ninja roll. I really cannot explain much about their roll but trust me, it’s really yummy! I like it! :)
As for their kani nachos, I was really expecting nachos but instead, it’s potato chips. This one, I just didn’t like it much because it lacks cheese, kani, and other toppings. I was expecting something’s different in here but it’s not. They also have good service by the way. They are very accommodating.
200+ plus good food with unli Japanese rice? Yep, I love this place already and will definitely come back. Love the food we ordered and their tasty bao desserts too. ❤️ I also appreciate that they have complimentary tea. The price range for their food is not that expensive unlike other restaurants in the area.
The food went beyond my expectation. I had not heard of Don Bao before and I thought it was just another Japanese fast food restaurant.
My family was extemely happy with the quality of food, the serving size, the service and the cleanliness of the restaurant.
Nice addition to the restaurants in Legaspi Village.
A chill new restaurant in Legaspi Village, I think it replaced the previous Indian Restaurant in the area. Ambience is quite cozy perfect for lunch out venues or dinner and drinks after office hours. Servers were all attentive and nice.
Food is great, reasonably priced.
Their don bowls comes with unli rice add Php30 for some miso soup, but the actual serving of meat to the rice bowl can actually allow you 1 to 2 additional cups of rice.
Gyudon is good. Well marinated beef (beef has some fat and some tendons mixed into it along with lean meat, which I don't mind, just a note for those who like their meat on the leaner side), nice fluffy rice, sweet onions.
The crispy chicken don is also great, huge pieces of fried chicken on top of the rice.
