At last! After a long time of planning to visit and try this restaurant, i was able to push it through last Monday. This have been on my to go list for a very long time since i read somewhere along the internet its existence. And it didn't fail me! This is the first time I have tried a soupless ramen. I ordered their Zenbu Mazesoba. i think it is their most special menu because it is the most expensive among the other mazesoba. Although ramen soup for me is very necessary, I didn't get disappointed when I tried it because it's still tasty as with soup ramen. The tender meat, the soft and thick noodles, the boiled and pouched egg is very unforgettable. I am planning to return here with my friends so I can brag them about my new fave ramen resto. Hope you can put more branches in metro manila.

Always has a welcoming atmosphere, reminiscent of neighborhood Japanese ramen shops. Their specialty, the Mazesoba is definitely a hit! A mix of the flavorful ground meat, chives, green onions, dried seaweed, onion and spice mix is spot-on! The Oimeshi is a good finisher to sop up the tasty broth/sauce. As a side, the Cheese Gyoza is a winner. Not too salty, but cheesy, crunchy and juicy. Definitely, authentic Japanese!

First time to Menya Kokoro. I went here as part of my office eat out. I ordered an edamame and a Black garlic tonkatsu ramen. Edamame was fresh but a bit too salty. The ramen was great. Good portion, great presentation. Staff are friendly and service is ok. The table size are small so would be a good idea to remove the bulky spoon and chopstick box. Bill out was fast, although since I did not pay the bill not sure about service charges. I'll be back once more to check out other items on the menu

They give you moist towelettes that grow in front of your dumbass self. You should order their soupless ramen. They say it's good. Haven't tried.

For our appetizer, we tried their Takoyaki (PhP 140) which came with a contrasting sweet and savory taste. Topped with a generous amount of Japanese mayo and bonito flakes, this delicious Japanese treat was fried on the outside while the inside remained gooey. Yum!

Apart from Takoyaki, Menya Kokoro’s Karaage (PhP 200) was lovely as well. The Japanese-style fried chicken was juicy and came out light, crispy, and solid on flavor. It’s a total crowd-pleaser.

For the mains, we got their best sellers, Tokyo Mazesoba (PhP 350) for me and Zenbu Mazesoba (PhP 470) for Louie. We’re told that the best way to eat a bowl of mazesoba is to mix everything evenly. Tokyo Mazesoba had a mix of elements such as the spring onions, chives, and runny egg over a medley of minced meat. I liked the springy and chewy texture of the noodles, and the thickness was also quite satisfying for every bite. Adding a splash of their kombu vinegar can help cut through the creaminess of the sauce. Portion your noodles and give this a try!

With almost the same components as the Tokyo Mazesoba plus more, the Zenbu Mazesoba looked more enticing and it also burst with savory flavor. Give them a good toss and relish the delicious explosion of flavors! The bamboo shoots and slow-braised char siu (braised pork belly) were definitely great additions to the dish.

Both Zenbu and Tokyo Maseoba are available (per request) in a non-spicy version. We tried the spicy version and the heat was tolerable. I think spice-lovers will love this rendition.

All their mazesoba are served with a complimentary bowl of mushroom shoyu (soya sauce) soup on the side–not to be poured over the bowl of mazesoba. Once you’re almost done eating the noodles but still have a handful of tasty ingredients and sauce in the bowl, raise your hand and ask for the Oimeshi. It’s Japanese rice that goes perfectly when mixed with the remaining sauce and toppings.

For desserts, we had their Matcha Ice Cream (PhP 90) and Kurogoma Ice Cream (PhP 90). Both these ice cream flavors remind me of our Japan trip, particularly Arashiyama and Kuromon Ichiba Market. More than the matcha though, here I liked the black sesame more because of its creamy sweet nutty finish.

Menya Kokoro is the largest mazesoba restaurant chain in Japan, and it’s definitely showing no signs of slowing down. Here, even without the soupy ramen, there’s no denying the beauty of a great bowl of mazesoba. The springy noodles, the great quality of ingredients, and the creaminess of the sauce all bring a successful dish that justifies a good value for its price tag. It’s pure bliss, even on the hottest of days, and the good news is there are more variations of mazesoba you can expect to try at Menya Kokoro in the coming months. Check it out.

First time to try mazesoba ever and thank the heavens for Menya Kokoro because it did not disappoint at all. I ordered the curry mazesoba and no regrets!

There are 3 ways to eat mazesoba -- 1) as is; 2) add some vinegar into the mazesoba; 3) mix the free rice into the remaining sauce. I loved how each method gave a different experience and I could not choose which one was the best.

Excited to eat here again especially since I love noodle dishes!

I didn't expect I can eat Taiwan mazesoba here In the Philippines. The quality of food was much better than I expected. Though the serving size may be quite small for guys, it's worth trying the dishes here.

Our girls love to eat Ramen so when I heard that there is this newest ramen place in Uptown, thought we give it a try. I didn’t realize that this restaurant’s specialty is dried ramen. I was hesitant at first because our girls like the traditional ramen with this tasteful broth and all. But since we got all curious we ended up eating here. I can only count in my fingers how many of us eating that are not Japanese. My eldest daughter ordered cheese mazesoba, mine is the everything on it soba (I forgot the name) and my husband got their best seller soba. While waiting for our orders, we studied how to enjoy the mazesoba - mix, slurp, put vinegar and then put the complimentary rice to enjoy the remaining soba sauce. When our order finally arrived, we loved the food. My daughter who is a picky eater almost finished her bowl of cheese mazesoba (👍🏻👍🏻 for me)The prices are enough for the serving and the quality is excellent. We will definitely go back to this and try some other dishes they offer.

First time to try Menya Kokoro and it did mot disappoint. The soupless ramen is very flavorful and portion is sufficient for one serving. While the menu consists of mostly ramen, there are a few side dishes like Takoyaki and Cheese Gyoka that are worth trying.

Ramen has always been the ultimate comfort food for ages. So imagine our curiosity when Menya Kokoro entered the scene offering a different take to ramen - soup-less! Mazesoba, is what they call it, kind of like, yakisoba with different toppings.

We definitely loved the Japanese bar ambiance. There's also a way to eating their Mazesoba, and I appreciated that they provided an infographic standees on the tables - especially for first-timers like me.

We ordered their Cheese Gyoza to start, and the usual pork dumpling had a distinct creaminess in every bite because of the cheese.

On to the main courses, ordered the Curry Mazesoba because we're huge fans of Japanese curry and it's super flavorful! I even prefer this more than their signature Tokyo Mazesoba. Aside from their usual toppings of gindara, egg, minced pork, and the works, they have delicious Japanese curry coating the noodles. We also enjoyed the Zenbu Mazesoba which means, everything in it. Aside from the fact that it has the most toppings with the addition of chasu, soft-boiled egg, and bamboo shoots, the flavors really come through together, especially when mixed with the Konbu Vinegar.

Tip: Make sure to follow the 4 steps to eating your Mazesoba to ensure the best eating experience.

I was invited to Menya Kokoro a day after the opening (sorry, backlog). And together with some foodie friends enjoyed what can be described as, ramen without the broth.

Yes, ramen without the broth. From the list, my friend and I opted for the non-spicy version of Zenbu Mazesoba and the Cheese Mazesoba which we shared after we finish our orders. Wrong. After (almost) finishing my own order there was space in my tummy no more. I tried to stall a bit but my overworked stomach was already demanding for something sweet.

What’s my take on Mazesoba? Well, I will just take my Dad as an example. When eating ramen, my Dad would always have a moment of focused soup slurping that you would think that you are watching a hallowed activity. A sacred ritual. And I guess most of Filipinos behave like that. Good thing, I’m not one of those. I can enjoy my ramen, without and without the broth.

Together with the Mazesoba we were served the Karaage and the Gyoza.

The Gyoza Cheese I loved. On the other hand, the Karaage, well, not so much. It was on the chewy and on the bland side. Hope that you, guys, would do something about it. But the same, congratulations for the first branch and good luck.

For noodle lovers out there, this place is worth a visit! Nice chewy thick noodles and when you add the vinegar sauce to mazesoba it delivers a different flavor. I also really like the concept of adding rice to the leftover sauce (when all the noodles are finished) so you can finish off all that yummy goodness! No waste! My reco is to tell them to lessen the spring onions because its really too much. Come early because its a small space and tables fill up fast during meal times.

Tokyo Mazesoba from Menya Kokoro is now in Manila! How lucky we are to be one of the few countries to have this outlet! I had the original Tokyo Mazesoba (mixed noodles). Tastes great with leeks, chives, special ground beef and egg. The buckwheat noodles are done perfectly with just the right bite. The sauce is tasty and a bit spicy and can be livened up with their special vinegar. They give a small bowl of rice if you ask for it; it's a good way to finish off the sauce at the bottom of the bowl.

Also had their exquisite Cheese Gyoza

Worth a try. I’m personally not a big fan of soupless mazesoba, so found the items a tad pricey. But the noodles were good and it’s worth trying out. They also have great vegan meat which we found delicious.

They only have one high chair. So we had to ask for the waiter to borrow from the next restaurant. But service is quick and staff is friendly.

I remember those days when I went out and tried the ramen of different Japanese restaurants. All of those dishes were great and definitely heavy on the stomach especially the broth. So when I heard that there is a Japanese restaurant in Uptown Mall, BGC, that sells dry ramen, I went ahead and tried it out with my friends.

First specialty store in PH for Mazesoba or brothless ramen. Their mazesoba is best when you mix it with their vinegar. It really changes the taste! I just find their store very small, but not bad for a start! More branches soon please!

It is common to restaurants in Uptown to have a small location. Big groups can be entertained here during off peak hours unless willing to wait.

I appreciate the great service of the crew. They offer tissue and alcohol before you dine (something I haven't experience with other restaurants).

I ordered mazedon rice - spicy version. It was really spicy for my taste buds but fret not! Their konbu vinegar will do the trick and control the taste

If you ordered noodle mazesoba - they will provide a complimentary rice so you can finish the sauce mixture.

This place is great for their side dish and mazesoba of course! Service took 20-30 mins over lunch time.

Looking forward to try the Cheese Mazesoba next time 🙂

This Mazezoba place is a good break from the usual Japanese restaurants. They bring quite a unique dining experience with the addition if of a complementary handtowel to freshen-up with and rice to end the mix with the remaining sauce to end the experience. The taste could've been better as there seemed to be nothing sepcial with their flavor profile and their "spicy" was barely noticeable. The staff was also quite hospitable. Overall, its a good place to try something different.

Was it just me or we just had the longest summer so far in Pinas? I know I heard it somewhere, but anyways… rain’s finally here! And because we are natural foodies, we are always ‘game’ to try out something new to indulge during the rainy season. Of course, there’s always the best goto, lugaw, arrozcaldo, and other Pinoy food perfect for the “Netflix and chill” weather. Well aside from those yummies, we also love ramens which are almost everywhere. You know what’s new? MAZESOBA!

When most Japanese restaurants have ramen in their menu, it makes so much sense to open a full-on Mazesoba concept in Manila. It’s your flavorful ramen bowl without the broth.

I was on the very first day of operations yesterday, and Mazesoba Kokoro gave me a pleasant surprise. Their Vegan bowl with its thick and chewy, multigrain noodle and tare sauce was beyond impressive. It had soy meat, wild rockets, pickles, tomatoes, sliced cucumbers, and young corn topped with a tofu-based sauce that mimics the egg.

I opted for the no meat option because of its unique and colorful compositions. But my companion loved the signature Tokyo Mazesoba as well, which had an incredible synergy of nine ingredients- chashu (pork), spicy minced pork, ground saba (mackerel), seaweed flakes, green onions, chives, minced garlic, nori (dried seaweed), raw egg yolk, soft-boiled egg, and bamboo shoots.

For rice option, Currydon I highly recommend especially if you can only down one dish from this establishment’s menu. It’s like having the Tokyo Mazesoba but with rich and spicy, Japanese curry.

The Chicken Karaage as a side dish can use more seasoning though, as our table found it bland.

Menya Kokoro is located on the third floor of Uptown Mall in BGC. If you work and live in the area, you are blessed.

Noodle fans all over the Metro, we have an announcement to make! THERE’S A NEW NOODLE PLACE IN TOWN! We repeat, there’s a new noodle place in town! Just a couple of days ago, we were able to try out one of the most famous soba (noodle) places from Tokyo and we would like to share about it in this edition of EATSplorations. This soba place is called Menya Kokoro Tokyo Mazesoba at Uptown Mall in BGC! Menya Kokoro is known for its amazing Mazesoba. Just in case you don’t know about what Mazesoba means, “Maze” means mix and “Soba” means noodles so in direct translation “Mazesoba” means mix noodles. Mazesoba is also not your ordinary Japanese noodles because it is like ramen but without broth. However, it has its own special sauce and signature ingredients that will surely blow you away. Keep on reading to know more about Menya Kokoro Tokyo Mazesoba, enjoy!
