Looking to unwind this Friday night? If you’re looking for a place to be with your buddies, then try this lively bar in BGC. This place does scream Australia but don’t fret, this place is welcome to all. It is the apt venue to watch those football games but all the more, a good place to bond with your buddies. With its lively ambiance (even during midday), I can just imagine the energy this place has during the evening. Before we head on over to their classic offers, they do have lunch dishes to cater to those working in the vicinity.

Skippy’s Gastropub is a true blue Aussie sports bar! Turning 5 this year, the pub from Oz adds some new dishes alongside the Aussie Favorites. Pretty much like everything in the land down under, Skippy’s serving is ginormous!. Skippy’s GastropubSkippy’s Gastropub. Skippy was a bush kangaroo who starred in an Australian TV series airing from 1968 to 1970. The intelligent kangaroo was the pet of a young boy and son of a park ranger in the series. Together, they went on adventures around the national park. Growing up, owner Stephen Burn loved watching Skippy on TV. He fondly recounted the time when his grandpa took him to see Skippy in person. (Trivia: Skippy the Bush Kangaroo was actually female because she had a pouch!) Steve eventually managed to procure Skippy’s paw after she passed away, and anyone who would ring the bell attached to Skippy’s paw would buy drinks for everyone in the pub! [Read More]

Cliché though it may be, no other nation does barbecues like they do Down Under – good beer and great ingredients (and loads of both). Ask most Aussies what their favourite comfort food is and if they don’t say pie, they’re probably lying. Ask what they want in it, and they’ll usually accept nothing less than local beef and a decent beer. Aussies love their steak in perfect prime cut, this we were able to learn after we stumbled upon an Australian food hub. I recently discovered an Aussie sports restaurant right in the heart of Bonifacio Global City called Skippy’s Gastropub Manila.

Skippy’s Bourbon Ribs are made by the said restaurant’s owner, Stephen Bird himself which he does for a total of eight hours. It’s a secret recipe which he has perfected for years. On tasting the ribs, you can immediately notice the smokey charcoal aroma of the sauce(make sure you spread the sauce residue from the plate before eating) which works well with the surprisingly tender meat and unlike other ribs we have tried before, these ribs contain a good amount of meat. If you’re a rib fan like us, we were happy to note that the Bourbon wasn’t too overpowering in terms of flavor, but just right. Their bourbon ribs were slow-cooked Aussie style and served with homemade barbecue bourbon sauce served with steamed vegetables and a side of fries. Available at 300 grams, 800 grams , 600 grams and 1,400 grams.

There isn’t a nation in the world that doesn’t deep-fry something, but we reckon beer-battered fish and chips is the ultimate. Skippy’s Seafood Platter reminds us of the fresh bounties from the sea. That flaky fresh ebi with the crispy, ever-so-slightly oily batter is to die for, and perfect eaten while looking out to sea – and when you have this dish, it feels like you’re on the coastline of Australia, enjoying the freshest harvest.

And before we forget, you MUST tray their Diablo Wings. We highly recommend them because believe us, but they taste a WHOLE LOT better than the ones we have tried in Korean Chicken restaurants. What’s more? They’re perfect combination with some of the alcohol drinks available here at Skippy’s.

We also recommend you take advantage of their promo. From Monday to Wednesday from 11:00 am to 2:00 am, one can order minimum 15 pieces of these yummy fried Diablo wings with beer for just Php 10.00 per piece. The chicken is very tasty and very similar in taste and comparable to a well-known restaurant which specializes on buffalo wings or Korean chicken.

Since it is a Gastropub, sports events are also being held here. In fact, they have wide huge screens and TV for sports fanatics. They also have live performances by bands who does regular gigs at Skippys.

I have been in this place too many times already. The ambience is quite OK specially in the mornings where there will be just a few people. The staff is accommodating and friendly. They really follow through customer requests such as making a cocktail a little stronger. The food here is quite OK as well, very normal but not exceptional. I would recommend this place simply for the service, the ambience and fact that they slash the price of their drinks during unholy hours.

It's my MacLaren's pub for himym reference.

Catch their promo Chicken wings at 10php (minimum order of 15pcs). It's an all day promo for MWF. On Fridays, same price but at 5pm-7pm. Beers happy hour as well, 75php a bottle.

Mild to spicy chicken wings and a bottle of beer to end the day. You can also order rice (55php) if you want it as a meal.

The crowd mostly: Foreigners and yuppies.

Good staff, great service! Shout out to Rofel ;) and the lady owner is super nice 👍🏻

A small out of the way bar at the back of 26th Street. It could get busy and packed on weeknights specially if there's a rugby game showing. My husband is a regular here and me in tow. I like their food actually it's very flavorful. Lots to choose from their menu and sometimes it takes me too long to pick what I really want. The slushy margarita was yummy though.

Lucky enough to eat at this place when there's just me and my group around. Another good thing was their 10Php per wing deal. We tried their shawarma pizza which was interesting. Other items on the menu are quite cheap too.

Skippy's is an Australian bar, known for their longest happy hours (80 PHP on cocktails?!?) and Australian dishes fused with Filipino cuisine. It's your typical bar with lots of drinks, great company, and even a pool table. They even have a television that offers a host of channels either from AU or the PH, and a band that plays almost every night. It's definitely loud, and while it isn't the best place to chill and catch up with friends, it's somewhere you can go all out and make new ones (like what I said, the LONGEST happy hour!)

We started off with a few drinks. I got a cocktail called "Down Under", containing tequila, vodka, gin, Blue Curaco, and orange juice with Sprite. A bit strong, but tasted addicting!

Started off with finger food! Potato wedges, chips, potato scallops. All the potato lovers out there will enjoy this! Pair it with your drinks and you're good to go!

I love the fact that the pizzas were thin crust, so it wouldn't fill you up too much and is right to the crunch. Fine amount of toppings, with the cheese winning!

Shrimp Gambas - Just yum! Shrimp popped in my mouth, good sauce and well-cooked.

Pork Sisig - Your typical pork sisig... Addicting and perfect with beer.

Sausage Trinity - Hot sausages with pepper, nicely seasoned and not too chewy.

Beef Salpicao - This is where my photos (and state of mind) started being loopy, LOL. But I do remember this! Beef was a bit too chewy and hard. Flavor was bland so I wouldn't recommend this.

Beef and Chicken Pot Pies tasted great! I love the presentation, though I would throw the breadsticks away and get right on to the good stuff - the pie itself. Mashed potatoes, though bland, combined well with the gravy (I guess that's the point!)

OOOOH YES, my ultimate favorite - the Crispy Pata! Crunchy, right amount of savory and did NOT need sauce for me to enjoy. Unfortunately only had one piece before everyone else got it all. That's how good it was. :(

Hot Wings were delicious. I don't normally eat wings and fries, but these were addicting and salted well, so I just kept going! Wings weren't crunchy, but they had good Buffalo sauce!

Caldereta wasn't much of a winner. I wish they blended the cheese rather than add blocks of it on top. But it tasted like my grandfather's cooking, and that equals a good dish!

First time that dessert (Chocolate Brownie) wasn't my favorite dish! While I did like the softness and chocolate-y beauty of the brownie, Crispy Pata will forever win my heart. But great presentation and portion size for just 170 PHP!

We ended the night with just three more drinks. Well, three HUMONGOUS drinks, LOL! We got two strawberry margaritas (slushy and iced), as well as one more round of iced tea (unpictured). This was what definitely got me loosen up! :p

PS: Post a picture of you and your pitcher of margarita/mojito, tag Skippy's, and get 50% off on your next pitcher!

All in all, I DEFINITELY had an awesome time in Skippy's with my new friends! With awesome promos and activities, I'm coming back for more than just the happy hour. ;)

We arrived at a Saturday evening and was surprised and glad to find it mostly empty. We went here with the intention of having a quick drink only since we were planning to eat on a different resto. We ended up ordering some food as well since it's no fun to drink without snacks.

By that time, we were still within their happy hour which ranged from 10 AM-8 PM. I first had their Classic Mojito while my friends ordered Pinacolada, Humming Bird, and Orange Smoothie. We also ordered a BLT and Meat Lover's Pizza. The cocktails were really good value for money since they were only Php80 per glass! I did not expect to have my cheapest cocktail ever at a restaurant in BGC. The pizza crusts were really thin, though, so don't expect you'll be filled with just eating it. Before their happy hour ended, I ordered another cocktail, the Dry Martini. This was really good and strong.

I will be back very soon to avail of their Php10/wing promo on Mondays-Wednesday all day or Thursdays-Sundays 11PM-something. Also, they have open mic on Sundays!
