a japanese secret hideaway in bgc. everything was great and i would definitely come back for more. highly recommend the tofu with eggplant and panfried tuna. five star dining experience.
Good service and yummy food (sushi was awesome). Just lacking in ambience but it’s clean. I’ll come back. The menu selection is quite large and affordable.
This restaurant never fails to impress us and our taste buds!
They were kind enough to split the fish udon so we can share (they recommended to purchase additional soup because by default soup might not be enough for two).
Sashimi is extra smooth and silky!
Celebrated my boyfriend’s birthday here. They gave him a complementary rich Matcha Cheesecake that we would definitely order if it’s on the menu!

My mom and I really enjoy coming here for the modern Japanese cuisine that is standard fare in Tokyo. Highly recommend the cold tofu with uni and salmon roe, the wagyu burger steak, garlic rice, and the coffee jelly. Perfect! My mom loved the salmon and tomato salad from the seasonal menu.
Authentic Japanese cuisine with cozy and warm service! Try the makis and the Norwegian Roasted Salmon. It's located in Arya Residences in BGC
The place is modern Japanese. Quite cozy. there's a long sushi bar and an open kitchen. Sitting is spacious and comfortable. The wait staff is fantastic, efficient but not obstrusive. No need to request refill of you tea cup the wait staff is observant and acts fast. Food is ok and many have different interpretations. The japanese egg omelet is a pleasant surprise. Cooked ala minute and served warm. The seafood kakiage was yet another nice interpretation, the veggies are cut in chunks not the usual jullien which was good but the seafood was a token tiny slice of salmon. The Chirashi Sushi is perfect. Quality seafood on a very flavorful perfectly cooked rice. We also ordered the spicy beef with cabbage soup. I could not find any fault in it but neither were the angles singing praises. Lastly the shrimp of the tempura was not to my liking but the batter was perfect not too little and not too much. Probably vannamei shrimp. I was expecting a little more as it has two Japanese chefs. Over all not a bad experience and would be back just for the service and the Chirashi sushi.
We’ve had really great Japanese dining in the past, so what does Fukudaya bring to the table? Moving away from the traditional and into more modern cooking techniques, Chef Koji Oki’s creations bring about a new take for those tired of the same, old, traditional Japanese food. In creating its offerings, Fukudaya openly borrows from the cooking techniques of other times and cultures — and the result is magnificent!
Arya-Plaza-FukudayaSalmon Carpaccio with Sliced Radish Pickles (P380)
Take a bite of their Salmon Carpaccio and their Australian Wagyu Steak, if you don’t believe me. None are traditionally Japanese, but for both you will find the distinctly Oriental tastes the Japanese are known for. Even classic sushi and tempura got their international upgrades! Needless to say, if you want to take your palate for a new spin, then this is the place to go.
June 28, 2018 Deckard, Puppycat and I had second dinner here with the family. Since there was a lot of us I don't remember all of the orders but I'll just list here those that particularly pleased me.
Potato Salad - they serve this with a boiled egg on the side. Anything with Japanese mayo is a winner for me.
Smoked cheddar cheese cubes submerged in sweet soy with Wasabi on the side - I don't remember the exact name of this dish but I'm just calling it as I saw it lol. This was so interesting, it looks like it won't work but it does! I'm even thinking of recreating this at home.
Fried oysters - delicious and crispy. They serve this with potato salad on the side too and there are 2 dips. I went for the dip that was like tartar sauce.
Vegetable tempura - this looks like a blooming onion ring and they also serve this with awesome pickles on the side.
Karaage - everyone likes fried chicken. We squeezed lemon on top of ours.
All the sushi and sashimi - their salmon was like butter melting in my mouth
This seared tuna - at first glance it looks like the Japanese version of beef carpaccio and I'm not a fan of that so I just ignored it. Then someone told me, no it's tuna, so I gave it a go. Delicious!
Puppycat had her own order of beef strips over garlic rice. This came in a steel pot. She said it was delicious. She wasn't able to finish the entire dish, so we took home the leftovers.
The other kids had Udon, tempura and more of the Karaage.
For dessert, I liked the chocolate cake with vanilla ice cream. Some of the others had coffee jelly that had whiskey in it.
Overall, it was a very enjoyable meal that we shared. Pricewise, it's comparable to the restos at Little Tokyo in Makati. The service was good too and they also offer parking validation.
Fukudaya is easily among the Top 3 Japanese restaurants in Manila.
I’d rather not spoil the enjoyment of the food, but rest assured every dish pictured (all 4 apps, 4 mains, and 3 desserts) is priced accurately to its level of quality. Foodgasms all around. (slight exception to the Duck Breast - approx P1200 but could’ve been had for slightly less, although this was my personal favorite)
The service was impressively lightning quick. Our server Reggie was on top of everything, and the food arrived to the table with no time wasted.
No significant complaints, a rarity. Thank you.
Hello everyone! How’s your 2018 been going so far? Just a week ago it was still January and now, we are already in the second month of the year. It’s time to say hello again to February, the love month. As husband and wife, we still look forward to this very special month because it’s time for us to celebrate our love for each other. We have become more conscious about celebrating Valentine’s now that we have a baby because we rarely spend alone time. Good thing every once in a while, we can leave our baby with grandma and grandpa so that we can have some quality time over movie, coffee, lunch, or dinner. In this edition of EATSplorations, we will be sharing with you about our very special Valentine’s Dinner at Fukudaya Japanese Dining in Arya Residences, BGC. Keep on reading to find out more about our Valentine’s EATSperience. Enjoy!
Was excited to try Fukudaya and expected excellent food but somehow I think it fell short.
Expected the moriawase pieces to be fresh and slices are kinda thin.
Sukiyaki is good and quality of beef is excellent. This is a good dish.
The tempura coating/ batter is light and excellent. The shrimp pieces are tiny.
Service is so so. They have off menu offerings that they didn't offer when I was ordering it looks good pa naman.
Tell them you like the soup very hotho, otherwise you will end up sipping warm soup after 5 mins.

The best and most authentic Japanese restaurant in Manila. The sushi tastes like you could be sitting in some of Tokyo's great sushi restaurants.
EATIGO, there will be more! enjoyed 30% off from this lovely and classy jap resto, a hidden gem we found at the Arya Residences. the Sashimi 3 (salmon, tuna and mackerel) and the Aburi Salmon Roll were delish, the salmon skin added a lovely chewy crunchy texture to every bite and the roe just bursts of sea salty goodness! i couldnt get enough - for those with big appetites getting double orders or extra dishes will be the solution. our server was more than accommodating for she gamely oblige fajah with his questions, insights and jokes. complimentary parking stubs for diners are available upon request.
Fukudaya is a semi-upscale Japanese restaurant in the posh Arya residences.
Food: They have a wide selection to choose from. Apart from the usual tonkatsus, they have set meals that is sure to satisfy a hungry tummy.
Price: Not for the faint pocket.
Don't let the price intimidate you from trying them out. There are single orders even the budget eaters like myself can opt for. You can also order sushi 🍣 by the piece at approximately Php 70 each. Pair it up with udon and you are set!
Its interior is modern and clean, the kind you'd expect from a stylish Japanese restaurant.
Very friendly staff.
Cash & cards accepted.
Single person cost - approximately Php 400-600.

Food: we ordered 2 kind of sushi that were really good, and chicken that I really liked it.
Ambiance: i liked the place... quiet and chill, Japanese style. Good with friends or a date.
Service: the place wasn't busy when we arrived. The servers approached us well.
Price: was not to pricy, but still went there with a discount.
I ve been coming here for 1 month now. love their interiors. very minimalist! I usually order the sashimi plate. A good go to for me at Fukudaya that has yet to disappoint!
Will try more of their dishes when I visit again!
We loved the food ... service was excellent and the place was great.
We had pork tenderloin tonkatsu, salmon sashimi, spicy salmon maki and shrimp tempura. Oishi!
Will definitely come back and recommend with friends.
Wasn't sure if 4.5 is fair for the best Japanese restaurant I've been to in the Philippines. The location is very convenient for me and I appreciate the private parking and mellow, dignified ambiance. The service was flawless as well.
The food though - oh man. The devil is in the details and these chefs deliver. Their soy sauce spritzers were an unexpected pleasure in both convenience and taste. Their maki are proportioned for a great overall mouth feel and subtly tangy flavor profile. The Gindara was rich and buttery as sin while the Wagyu was as tender while remaining relatively trim.
This place has my full recommendation and I will be returning.
As our first stop at the Mother's Day Foodcrawl hosted by Zomato, Fukudaya has welcomed us into a world of Modern-Traditional Japanese cuisine. Fukudaya introduces modern twists into classical favorites, keeping in the humble yet simple flavors, with a twist.
Here were some of the dishes they have served us that day:
Edamame
Shiromi Carpaccio
Ebi Tempura 6 pcs
Fukudaya Maki
Sauteed Oyster (Can be ordered ala carte but is actually off the menu item!)
Foie Gras Zume
Gindara Collar (Grilled)
Asu Wagyu
Garlic Kamameshi
Assorted Dessert (Green Tea/Black Sesame Ice cream- Homemade)
Fukudaya offers Mother's Day Det Meals for a group ranging from 3 to 8 people to enjoy.
The food is authentic Japanese, you can tell because many Japanese expats dine here. The dishes are seasoned just right for my taste - light and fresh. I liked the uni and the sushis. Above the usual Japanese restaurants.
Modern meets Traditional! That’s what exactly Fukudaya at Arya Residences in BGC is trying to achieve. We had the opportunity to try the mouthwatering Mother’s Day Menu (Set C) which was worth PhP 8,500.00 of Shiromi Carpaccio, Ebi Tempura, Fukudaya Maki, Sauteed Oyster, Foie Gras Zume, Gindara Collar (Grilled), Asu Wagyu, Garlic Kamameshi and Assorted Desserts!
Ambience – 5/5
Service – 4/5
Food:
Edamame – 3/5
Immature soybeans in the pod. Not for all because it is too fibrous.
Shiromi Carpaccio – 3/5
At first I thought it was some kind of dessert. Apparently it was an appetizer made from white fish with vinegar. A good dish to start your feast.
Ebi Tempura – 3/5
The batter was just the way I like it, it wasn’t that thick. However, the shrimp was a little over cooked.
Fukudaya Maki – 3/5
A mixed flavored maki that was plated perfectly! Good, but nothing out of the ordinary.
Sauteed Oyster – 4/5
An off the menu item, but you can order it ala carte. Just smile and ask the staff nicely.
Foie Gras Zume – 2/5
The chicken was dry and I wasn’t able to taste the buttery and livery flavour of Foie Gras.
Gindara Collar – 4/5
Their Gindara Collar was an automatic favourite. It wasn’t too oily as expected and the marinade was not too strong, that was able to give way to its natural taste.
Asu Wagyu – 3/5
The meat was tender, but I wasn’t able to taste anything noteworthy.
Garlic Kamameshi – 4/5
A soft and flavorful garlic rice.
Assorted Dessert (Black Sesame/Green Tea Ice Cream) – 4/5
Ice cream was extremely good, especially the Black Sesame Ice Cream! They should sell it in pints!
Honestly, I’m not a big fan of japanese food but Fukudaya made me appreciate and love what does authentic japanese food could offer. I’ve only been to a handful of times to some japanese restaurants and I must say that it is by far the best japanese restaurant I have been to. Almost all of their dishes was appetizing to see and tasted soo good. Fukudaya is our first stop in our Zomato Mother’s Day Food crawl and we’ve tried the Set C of the Mother’s Day Set Menu worth P8,500 which includes the following:
Ebi Tempura - You can never go wrong with Tempura! This was always been my favorite japanese food like I know almost all filipino love it. Though there’s nothing extraordinary on what they have to the other jap restaurants I just wish they could make it bigger hehe.
Fukudaya Maki - Artistry in a plate. All of the maki are very well presented and executed it was appetizing all of the flavors from the spicy tuna, salmon, cucumber, egg, duck, roast beef etc.. they were all pretty though I’ve only tried the spicy salmon maki, at first didn’t know what is it until I tasted the spiciness and the freshness of the salmon and it was good.
Australian Wagyu Steak - A wagyu steak should be rich-beef taste and it has to be so tender and honestly I didn’t have it in Fukudaya it was good though for me it still lacks in flavor and it was a bit chewy and unappetizing but this is the purpose of reviews right? There’s always a room for improvement.
Garlic Kamameshi - Hands down for Fukudaya for their kamameshi. It was soft and flavourful.
Shiromi Sakana Carpaccio Tosazu Jelly - I like how this modern twist refreshing appetizer combined white fish carpaccio and the bonito vinegar perfectly melts in your mouth.
Oyster sauteed in cucumber sauce - My favorite in fukudaya! It was my first time to taste this and I didn’t expect that it will be so good than I expected.
Foa Gura Zume Teriyaki Chicken - It doesn’t tasted good as it was presented I honestly find the chicken dry.
Mero No Kama Teriyaki (Gindara Collar) - This is the dish that I enjoyed the most here in Fukudaya because I know that the collar part was the most delicate part of the fish you’ll really expect that it would be fatty, tender and flavourful and Fukudaya simply gave what I expected, it was seasoned right you’ll taste the savoriness plus sweetness in it.
Assorted Desserts/Black Sesame ice cream - Good about this assorted desserts is that you’ll get to taste every dessert they offer. Forgot each name but all of the sweets in this platter was all soo good they were all flavorful, creamy and the sweetness was just right. I also tried the Black sesame ice cream which I’ve never tried before and I super loved it. The flavor was unique didn’t expect that it would be so good the flavour of the black sesame was so rich that made the ice cream so creamy and delicious ! A must-try dessert. ;)
I find Fukudaya’s ambiance intimate, quiet as its location was quite hidden around BGC and I like the interiors it was a modern japanese vibe and very sophisticated. The staffs were good though there are times that they were not there as you need them urgently. Overall experience was good though there still some improvements to do and even though the price are quite expensive you’ll definitely eat what you pay for.

Fukudaya is one of the newest establishments here in BGC. They're known for using modern ingredients in creating their traditional Japanese dishes, giving you authentic flavors of Japan every time. They are located at The Plaza in Arya Residences, Bonifacio Global City. This hidden gem in the metro just opened last August and it has become an ideal place for those who live near the area.
Fukudaya's ambience is cozy, peaceful and comfortable making it a great place for romantic dates or important meetings. Another great thing to know about Fukudaya is that they have available seats near their open kitchen area so you can watch the chefs prepare the different dishes.
Although the prices of most dishes are expensive, at least they offer everyone with the freshest good quality ingredients, giving each customer satisfaction every time they dine in Fukudaya.
We had the Mother's Day Set #3 for 8,500+ and it consisted of incredibly good choices like, Fukudaya Maki, and Australian Wagyu Steak. Everything was really good but here is my list of the top dishes that I really enjoyed just to sum it all up: ☺️
🔴 Fukudaya Maki 🔴
This dish was a work of art. The different flavors of Maki such as, Cucumber, Egg, Roast Beef, Pork Belly, Spicy Tuna, Spicy Salmon, Crab Stick, Shrimp and Negitoro were incredible to look at. I had the Spicy Salmon Maki and it was good but nothing extraordinary. The fish however, was fresh and the rice was soft just how it should be.
🔴 Australian Wagyu Steak 🔴
A great tasting steak begins with a good cut of meat. Fukudaya's Wagyu Steak was good but I've tasted better ones. The meat was tender and moist however, the piece I had was a bit chewy.
🔴 Foa Gura Zume Teriyaki Zume 🔴
Chicken + Foie Gras? You got to be kidding me. This dish of grilled minced chicken stuffed with Foie Gras was a heavenly combination. Although I find the chicken a bit dry, the teriyaki sauce on top helped a lot in giving it a bit moisture.
🔴 Garlic Kamameshi 🔴
This dashi flavored garlic rice looked simple but was very tasty and I love how the seasoning was not very overpowering.
🔴 Shiromi Sakana Carpaccio 🔴
At first glance, you can already tell that the fish used, was very fresh. This cold appetizer was light and refreshing especially when paired with the bonito vinegar jelly.
🔴 Oyster sautéed in cucumber sauce 🔴
This dish was a big winner for me. The oyster was very tender and flavorful. The cucumber sauce on top really complimented the oyster and it did a great job giving the oyster extra flavor.
🔴 Mero No Kama Teriyaki 🔴 [Gindara Collar]
The Gindara (Black Cod) Collar was soft, fatty and surprisingly, not oily. You can taste the grilled teriyaki flavor coming through the fish which gave it a slight sweetness.
🔴 Kuro Goma Ice Cream 🔴
I never had Black Sesame ice cream this good before. It was sweet, creamy and the black sesame flavor was definitely present in every bite. To present the flavor even more, it was topped with even more crushed black sesame! Surely to be the perfect treat to satisfy your sweet cravings.
Fukudaya's concept of using modern ingredients in traditional Japanese dishes is a bit risky for me but I see that they manage to make some dishes work. Food was good but I would just like to point out that some dishes needed improvements. Overall, I wish success for Fukudaya and
I hope they would continue to maintain in serving everyone with only the freshest good quality ingredients everyday.
We had been curious about this place for some time now as we regularly walk by Arya. A quick Zomato check later and it seemed like it was worth the experiment as the reviews seemed quite positive.
We ordered the Jyou Nigiri plate for each of us and the Foa Gura Zume Teriyaki Chicken to share. Staff was super attentive and made sure that we always had hot tea and water during the meal. Atmosphere was nice - it all felt pretty classy yet still chill.
The chicken was a delight and we loved the variety of veggies on the plate apart from the chicken. The foie gras was very subtle but enough to add an interesting twist to the flavor of the dish without overpowering the rest of it.
The Nigiri was exquisite and each piece of seafood wonderfully fresh. I'm normally not a big fan of the mackerel but this is the first time I loved it. The flavor was clean and light and not the usual oily fishy flavor I find with most other restaurants. The Tamago was one big chunk of egg without accompanying rice that made for a sweet counterpoint to the rest of the Nigiri. And I rather enjoyed the novelty of using a spray applicator for the soy sauce instead of just dipping into a soy sauce bowl as this was the first time I had encountered it at a restaurant.
I think my only caveat was wishing for the sweeter pickled ginger instead of the plainer ginger we were served. Prices are definitely on the higher end for most but this is worth the expense given the quality of the food. I would like to try the lunch sets sometime as we came for a late dinner.
Been here for a family member's birthday last year. The food was excellent; sashimi was fresh; succulent wagyu and delicate fish. The location is spot-on, and the ambience is sublime. Would love to visit again someday.

Suuuuuper late review, but fukudaya is still worth raving about. Loved the seven kind sashimi plate, ebiten roll, and nigiri sushi gozen (bento) served that night. Everything was so fresh and well presented. Eventho the place is quite hidden and hard to get to, i would go back here for sure!
I was really looking forward to trying Fukydaya but was rather disappointed when I went a few weeks ago. The interior is not very inviting and the staff isn't that friendly. I did really enjoy the sukiyaki though! The Fukudaya maki was bland and boring.
Second Visit - May 09, 2017
Second time to dine at Fukudaya and i am still mesmerized. I was completely enthralled with the food they serve - from taste down to the presentation.
I got to try their Special Menu for Mothers Day (i know, the review is late 😖, work was a riot). Anyway, the set includes the following:
Set 3 (Php 8500)
| Edamame. The perfect appetizer. And it is lovely bowl of greens.
| Shiromi Sakana Carpaccio Tozasu Jelly. Carpaccio is Italy's answer to Ceviche. Albeit being raw, the fish is doesn't reek of fishy flavor. Clean and refreshing flavors.
| Ebi Tempura. This is a plate full of deep fried goodness. Crispy on the outside and moist on the inside.
| Fukudaya Maki. (Cucumber, Egg, Roast Beef, Duck, Pork Belly, Spicy Tuna, Spicy Salmon, Crabstick, Shrimp and Negitoro) A colorful plate of assorted maki done the Fukudaya way!
| Oyster Sautéed in Cucumber Sauce. I love me some oysters! I can eat this all day!
| Foie Gras Zume Teriyaki Chicken. Grilled minced chicken stuffed with Foie Gras in Teriyaki Sauce. Foie Gras!!!! why you so yummy????
| Mero No Kama Teriyaki. Grilled Gindara fillet in Teriyaki Sauce. This is another winning dish. The dish is cooked in such a way that the natural and clean flavor of the fish stands out.
| Australia Wagyu Steak. Wagyu is always a good idea. The steak is cooked and flavored to perfection.
| Garlic Kamameshi. Dashi flavored garlic rice in hot iron pot. This is the best tasting rice dish in the Metro.
| Assorted Dessert. I didn't get to try this but the staff was kind enough to offer some Matcha Green Tea Ice Cream.
Fukudaya can never do wrong. The food they serve is worth every penny.
-----------------------
The past couple of months has been filled with good food and good company. And yes the streak is still on as I got invited to have lunch at Fukudaya. I've heard of 'em but i haven't had the time to do recon as it is location is somewhat hidden. I call it "the in between BGC and McKinley"
The interior exudes a quiet elegance. One would feel instantly at home. Classy and sophisticated. What i liked is the open kitchen, you get to see the Japanese Chefs in action - the expertise involved in cutting fish, removing the bones and coming up with the perfect filet.
Food.
They served a lot during lunch. I can't remember the names for the life of me. I am to blame as the visit was a month ago. Too many pending reviews, too many restaurants visited and the food gets mixed up somewhere in my brain. Before i start my rigmarole of words, lemme tell you that everything they served is awesome (raise that to the nth power).
These are the standouts:
Chirashi Sushi
Fukudaya Maki
Sashimi 9 Shu Mori
Beef Curry
Garlic Kamameshi
The Lunch Set Menu
Fukudaya Gozen
Nigiri Sushi Gozen
Tempura Gozen
Yazikanaka Gozen
I can't say much about the sashimi nor the sushi. If the seafood is fresh then expect nothing but awesomeness. Fukudaya takes pride in the quality and freshness of theit seafood. I mean, take a long hard look at that lovely plate of mouth-watering sashimi... You catch my drift???
The beef curry is hands down the best I've had. Calling the meat tender is an insult, why? This deserves a much better word, something Shakespearean perhaps??? I am gonna settle for magical? Sounds a lil sappy but it is heaven on every bite.
The garlic kamameshi is a welcome surprise. I mean, how in the bloody hell can they make rice this tasty??? What sorcery is this?? Trust me, man...it is wickedly delicious.
Sweets
| Mizu Shingen Mochi. Raindrop cake with soybean powder. I never took interest in raindrop cake hype hence I was a bit surprised at pretty it is. I mean, it looks like a giant blob of water frozen in time. I was skeptical in terms of taste, but the trick is to have perfect proportions of ze cake and the soybean paste. Voila! It is a symphony of texture and flavors.
| Kuro Goma Ice Cream. I've always liked black sesame ice cream because it is not the usual kind that reeks of sweetness.
| Matcha Ice Cream. Matcha is life. I rest my case.
Lunch at Fukudaya is terrific. Never had i encountered a restaurant with an extraordinary menu. I ain't kidding, everything is delicious! This is rarity in the restaurant scene, i strongly recommended you pay them a visit. NOW!
Authentic Japanese restautrant with authentic Japanese chefs. It's like a part of little Tokyo in Makati was placed in a small part of BGC for it's authenticity. There was no compromise with this restaurant as it was well lit and decorated. You can sit by the bar and see your order be made in front of you or you can mesmerize at the kitchen window as you see your order being made.
Sushi was fresh and coming from the best in the wet market has to offer. The Nigiri sushi,Chirashi and Sashimi platters were one of the best sushis they've served on par with the famous restaurant at little Tokyo. Their soy sauce spray is a fun treat as you can use a spray bottle, a brush or dip it traditionally. I loved how I was just spraying the sashimi in small amount and wasn't worry about big drops falling whilst travelling to my mouth.
We Asians love rice that's why the Garriku Kamameshi! Dashi was a crowd favorite and gently disappeared into thin air not more than 3 minutes. The smell of garlic radiates from it and the crispy rice texture ,just as pinoy would love every crispy toasty thing, made it a hit.
The sukiyaki was another delight to eat as it was a delicious sweet broth packed with umami from the beef and vegetables. You can dip it in raw egg or put the raw egg with the pot. I especially loved the beef that comes with it.
They have dessert and drinks as well. The black sesame ice cream is one of their unique flavors and surprisingly tasted delicious to my liking. Their matcha was legit and authentic, not too sweet and creamy yet it was not too bitter as well, just the right balance. They have a variety of drinks as well, we tried one of them and it was really smooth.
Price 4/5 - normal for a authentic Japanese resto.
Food 5/5 - superb authentic taste
Ambiance 4/5 - kitchen window was the highlight
Service 5/5 - Service was good, you get to talk to the Japanese chefs in English as well.
Authentic Japanese cuisine at its best! It is located at Residences, McKinley Parkway, Bonifacio Global City, Taguig City. It is actually away from the busy streets of Fort, It sits in the not so crowded space in Arya . But you will be surprise that this restaurant is always full packed with Japanese food lovers. They serve great sushi and sashimi. I love their Nigiri Sushi and Wagyu burger.. the ambiance is cool and serving is fast. A real quality Japanese restaurant worth to be revisited!
Fukudaya restaurant!! I wish I've known you before! I could probably say that you are, by far, the best Japanese restaurant I've been to. Everything was just too 😋😋😋😋😋 The staff are very accommodating, even the owner is very sociable. That's a plus, correct? I'm happy to give them a rating of 5 because I have no complains at all. I just had the perfect food, perfect peers with me and perfect experience! 😍😍
[Zomato Event]
It has been no secret that Japanese cuisine revolves around their respect in each ingredients and also visual appeal to its patrons. This new Japanese kid on the BGC block doesn't really go for that innovative feel in terms of presenting or serving their dishes but they stick with the traditional and elevate it further by doing their craft well. The best part is that they do not use monosodium glutamate at all to get that "umami" taste.
The interior has this modern sleek style to it with some decors to accentuate the place. I like that they opted for the open kitchen type as it give patrons feel that they are involve in the preparation process. They also have small function room for those who want to have a lunch meeting or any meeting that one can think of that accompanies food to it. Oh! they also have free Wi-Fi.
Lunch Bento Box set menu are the ones that we sampled; each set comes with 4 kinds of appetizer (sweet corn tofu is the one that stood out for me) of course the main dish of your choice, and it also comes with a scoop of sesame ice cream. Price ranges from Php 450-680.
Their Sashimi and Sushi platter are probably the best I've sampled so far. The ingredients that they used screamed freshness and the best part is you get to witness them prepare these masterpieces right in front of you (if you're seated on the bar or your seat is facing the bar area). Also worth trying is th Garriku Kamameshi which is dashi-flavoured garlic rice in hot iron pot.
As the saying goes "there's always room for dessert", of all desserts that they offer their ice cream selections (matcha and sesame) stood out the most. For those who likes their coffee dark, the Kohi Zeri which is a coffee jelly infused with whiskey is worth trying.
Overall my experience is quite pleasant, trying their dishes brings back memories when I was in Japan. Fukudaya is definitely a must try!
Opening up a Japanese restaurant here in the metro feels like a challenge. It's either you offer something new to the customer, or you will have some problems with the hundreds of them scattered all throughout the mega city. Fukudaya is one of the recently opened recently opened restaurants in BGC and it has come to do only one thing : it is to take the classic, common Japanese dishes and turn it into 10 notches higher, and that's all I could ever hoped for.
Ambiance
It looks like the typical japanese restaurant that you will see everywhere with a few quirks here and there. It has an open kitchen, ensuring the customers of a really clean workplace. It also has a small function room for those who want a more intimate experience with their peers. The only negative thing that I can find here is the fact that the restaurant feels a bit small, but that's just me nitpicking.
Food
This is the really biggie of any restaurant, which holds true for Fukudaya. Their Sashimi and Sushi platter are among the best I've tried yet if not the best. All of the fish they've used are really fresh and I didn't imagine that it will have a really huge difference when it comes to the taste. it comes in different kinds so you can try it out for yourselves.
Another dish that I didn't expect that I will love is their Garriku Kamameshi. It's a Dashi flavored rice in hot iron pot which is basically an enhanced garlic fried rice. The garlic is crushed well within the rice adding that necessary spice to it while the crispiness on the side is a well come addition.
Also another awesome classic is their Beef Curry. I'm a really fan of Japanese curry wherever I try it out, and somehow they were able to elevate the taste even further. What's more is they used Wagyu beef for its meat, giving it a "it melts in your mouth" experience.
Besides their big guns, their dessert is also a must try. Their home-made matcha and black sesame ice cream is a real treat for sweettooths like me, offering really creamy and tasty versions of these Japanese flavors. If you want a darker experience, try out their Kohi Zeri, a coffee jelly infused Japanese whisky with dark chocolate covered dried mangos. The coffee jelly reminds me of the really dark Filipino coffee, the Kapeng Barako. I'm not really a fan of it, but I'm sure coffee lovers will really like it.
Overall, I found Fukudaya to be reasonable. They didn't serve a single food that I didn't love. Everything looks fresh, clean and really delectable. It might come with a hefty price tag, but I assure you, it's every bit worth it.
Japan cuisine shines bright (like a diamond) in this FAB(!) restaurant.
Fukudaya makes unassuming classic Japanese dishes into WOW creations.
Awesome Sashimi, Nigiri sushi and Chirashi. Fish choices changes depending on the availability so you get the best and freshest ingredients on your plate.
Have the Sukiyaki! Wonderful umami and sweet flavored broth, prime choice sliced beef with vegetables and noodles.
Unbelievable is the Garriku Kamameshi! Dashi flavored rice in hot iron pot to make the rice nice and toasty and then toasted fried garlic is tossed to just make this simple dish awe-some.
Have your dessert of their home-made matcha and black sesame ice cream. Or the Kohi Zeri, coffee jelly infused Japanese whisky with dark chocolate covered dried mangos. Or the Mizu Shingen Mochi, rain drop cake (gelatin based) with soy bean powder.
Need some jolt of alcohol? Take a pick from their great choices of sake. Or get a glass or bottle of Chardonnay that goes well with seafood.
Fantastic little Japanese restaurant. Friendly staff, an open plan and intriguing kitchen and most importantly tasty and incredibly fresh sushi and sashimi.
Go and give them a visit.

If you want quality and authentic Japanese in the heart of Fort, this is the place to be. Had the best beef with their US Gold prime rib which was super soft and juicy paired with their yummy garlic rice. Nigiri sushi is prepared fresh and by hand by their excellent sushi masters from Japan. The nigiri blow-torched salmon is a must-try. Their desserts are one of the bests I've had in a Japanese restaurant since most places only have basic desserts like coffee jelly. Their matcha red bean cream puff is light and fluffy. Black sesame icecream is addictive and you might be ordering another glass. And their best dessert for me is the coffee jelly infused with Japanese whisky.
It's like a Japanese authentic restaurant! (I'm a Japanese.) The dishes are arranged sophisticated modern cuisine and selected to match with Filipino based on traditional Japanese. Furthermore, the arrangement of the dishes are so beautiful and it has a sense of season.I strongly recommend here to entertain Japanese customer or date.I'm really happy to visit there because I don't have opportunity to eat "Shiraae" (Dressed with Tofu), "Shingenmochi" (transparent sweets) in other Japanese restaurants.
Favorites:Nigiri Sushi: Wagyu Beef, Torched Salmon, White Fish, Tuna, Squid, and Winter Melon Maki
My sushi dreams all in one plate. Now how could I complain. All worth the visit to Fukudaya! This plate of Nigiri Sushi is prepared by the hands of real Japanese chefs who flew from Japan to serve authentic Japanese sushi. Wagyu Beef, Torched Salmon, White Fish, Tuna, Squid and Winter Melon Maki, all freshly made from scratch and delicate in every bite.
There’s a little drama to it, if you want a touch of its Japanese soy sauce. Instead of dipping, Fukudaya asks you to spritz your sushi from its spray bottle of soy sauce. This gives you the right amount of soy, not overly dipped.
US Double Gold Prime Tenderloin Steak
The dining story continues with the outstanding US Double Gold Prime Tenderloin Steak. Normally, O and I would offer to share big servings plates to each other. But by just the look of this dashing steak, I’d think we would prefer our own plates. Without exaggeration, its meat was tender and juicy, topped with garlic sauce for extra rich flavors. Balancing its colors and for a guilt-free plate, a bed of vegetables were also served.
Coffee Jelly with Japanese Whisky
Now this Coffee Jelly with Japanese Whisky redeemed Fukudaya’s desserts to me. The best coffee jelly I’ve had in Manila that’s infused with Hakushu Single Malt Whisky. My best bet, my star of the night, it was loaded with the powerful combination of dark coffee and Japanese whisky, tamed by its layer of cream. A taste of heaven that I want to take home with me for my daily dose of coffee and whisky!
Wait wait wait. This whisky madness continues with its whisky-infused dried mango covered in dark chocolate. Something to munch and pair with your coffee jelly.

You know whats the best part about their food? Its good. The bad part? it takes them quite a while to get it to you.
The thing about nigiri is that there is that there is very little room for error. The fish has to be fresh, rice cooked perfectly and they have to be assembled perfectly into one amazing mouthful of culinary goodness. Fukudaya comes pretty close to providing that one amazing mouthful of culinary goodness. Having tried the super deluxe nigiri platter I've gotten to try several of their nigiri and all of them have not disappointed with the exception of the salmon roe one where I felt that there was a tad bit too much of it ontop (but hey better that they're generous right?).
Also got to try the sashimi which is of the same quality as the nigiri. The futomaki is a pleasant surprise as there is a medley of flavours that take turns satisfying your tastebuds. My only critique of it is that the way the maki was cut after rolling was not consistent. The slices were of inconsistent widths and you could see some parts where the knife did not cut smoothly, nevertheless it did not take away from the experience.
The sukiyaki was very satisfying, the broth had a certain richness of flavour to it which made its way to everything inside the bowl.
I'd like to seem them get our dishes out quicker but it seems to be that some dishes just take longer than others. Fukudaya is one of the places I'd recommend people go to because it their food will not disappoint.
