I rarely visit Uptown Mall since I live in Makati. I only visit BGC when I have to meet some friends and family. But in those rare times that I do, I'm really glad I can find awesome restaurants with good food AND service. One of them is this WATAMI branch. First of all, I really love the house tea. It's nice to sip a hot cup of tea while waiting for your food! Every time I go to Japanese restaurants, my basic order would be GYOZA + BEEF BOWL. Watami's gyoza is surprisingly one of the best ones I've ever had so far. I also love their mozzarella balls. Though I was already full after eating my beef bowl, I'm glad I still made some room for it! ❤🍵🥘
Selling of bistro card was too aggressive.
The serving and the quality justifies its prices. The service is good, the ambiance is great, and the location is convenient too. I love this place!
I brought my friends here to have lunch for my birthday. We went on a Saturday and took advantage of the 50% treat from Citibank. We ordered the mozzarella balls, nori nachos, shrimp tempura, assorted skewers, king dragon roll, salmon stone pot, pork chashu, sliced beef, I forgot the other dish 😁, then for the drinks we had the kiwi cooler, orange yakult, green mango shake, and a Bottomless iced tea for one of my friends. Everything was delicious, and my friends were so full and satisfied when we left. The staff were polite, and the place has ample seating. The only problem is the restroom is located inside Texas Roadhouse which is quite a walk if you are inside Watami. Anyway, the overall experience is fine and we'll probably be back. Thank you.
The family is always on the look out for new promo or products from The Bistro Group. So it is not a surprise that the piggery found out about Watami's latest offering- TENDON LUNCH BOWLS starting at P275 from 11 am to 5 pm
For this budget-conscious-mom-of-4, the come-on was its price.

Their king dragon sushi roll and grilled premium salmon head never disappoints!
Watami is our favorite sushi restaurant. :)
Rice bowls are awesome, suggest you ask them to cook it as they can do a better job of it, if we do it ourselves, we end up burning the bottom layer of rice.
Get a BFF card, sulit!
The foods are averagely nice and the services are at the top notch. The guy who served me, I assume is their manager, he did his best at serving us, as satisfying every single request of mine. I would definitely recommend for a come back meal for sure. Peace out, love from Malaysia.

Wataminis one of my go-to Japanese restaurants. The food is delicious and reasonably priced for students plus if you have a bistro card you can save more. The servers are also accommodating and gives good suggestions.
One of the best casual Japanese restaurants in the metro. Try their Sukiyaki Hotpot, assorted skewers, volcano roll. Friendly and promp staff!
I love going to Watami! It is definitely our go to place to eat out. Especially with the Bistro card, we tend to frequent the place a lot.
Service is always very good in a Bistro restaurant. Since we frequent Watami a lot, I find it funny but also appreciate that they already know my face and usual orders. It's one of the biggest reasons I also keep coming back. Despite the amount of guests, they are usually attentive and ensure all orders are prepared correctly and quickly.
For food - they have a lot of options from sushi, sashimi, salads, ramen, rice meals, etc. I haven't tried a dish so far that I don't like.
Drinks are also a plus. My favorite is their complementary cold tea and the yakult drink.
We'll definitely keep coming back for more!
Passion fruit and mango tea is a must! Their mug is bigger than my head (haha) so P135 is really worth it. Tried their pork cutlet and spicy miso ramen as well and I can’t think of anything else but YUMMY! Thumbs up for the creative skewers 👍🏻 Friendly and accommodating staff and a nice ambience in Uptown mall. Thanks for the good experience! 😍 #happytummy PS: they also have free 30minutes wifi. See pictures for individual picture and prices.
Watami in Uptown Mall could be found at the top floor such that you get to see a little of the outdoors.
Dishes worth trying are...
Nori Nachos - crispy lightly battered nori (dried Japanese seaweed that you use for sushi)
Tako maki aburi - sushi with crispy nori which you could get with the tuna or salmon torched with that extra smoky flavor.
Salmon Stone Pot - reminds me of the Korean bibimbap. You mix the rice and the toppings. The rice becomes toasted because of the stone pot.
Kani Udon - thick chewy udon noodles with rich creamy crab fat! Crazy good!
Good food! Hindi gaanong matagal maghintay sa pag-serve ng food. Thank you Chari for serving us. ☺️ The best ang Spicy Miso Ramen!! ♥️yung Passion Fruit Tea masarap din, medyo matamis lang ng konti. Thank you Watami more power and God bless!
I will always love Japanese cuisine. I’ve never went to a Japanese restaurant that I didn’t like, whether it’s high-end or fast food. It’s always a gastronomic experience for me. Every time I eat Japanese food, I know I’m always all set for an enjoyable encounter, and more often than not, I walk away satisfied and with a smile on my face.
If you find yourself craving for sushi in Uptown mall, head over to Watami. While they are actually known for their yakitori they also have a very good sushi selection. We recommend trying their salmon tako maki aburi, and tuna tako maki aburi. Both are well seasoned, torched, and tasty. No need to add any sauces. Another thing we also enjoyed was their japanese style nachos that uses nori instead of the typical corn chips.
Service was also very good.
I love this restaurant! I really do! Their food is 👌🏽. I’d even be willing to spend on this, even if I’ve tried other legit Japanese restaurants in Makati that are as good but less expensive. Their enoki is to die for! Best paired with Spicy Salmon Maki.
My only concern with this branch is the serving time. Service is good, staff are polite and attentive but wow, I’ve been here about 5 times already but man, they always take at least 35-45 minutes for the order to arrive. I’m not even exaggerating. I ate here with different people, and I experienced it all with each of them. I wish they could really improve on this.
It's a quiet place at the top of the mall, the sushi is great, the presentation of dishes are also picturesque, and the price is affordable, I'd recommend going here for some alone time
Small place with very friendly staff. The beef with egg on a bowl was so-so. Their set meal, sushi and sake were good. But not something that I would come back to.
If you want affordable Katsu with unlimited rice and cabbage salad, then Watami is the place to be. Also ordered Assorted Chicken Skewers. Food was just okay. Staff was helpful. The place though was swarming with flies (not really swarming but there’s a lot that it’s annoying) that you need to have candles on your table to get rid of them.

Watami Grill and Sushi Bar is a Japanese restaurant in Uptown Mall, Bonifacio Global City. Located on the 4th floor of the said mall, it's very easy to find as you will see upfront a familiar Japanese themed exterior right away. We love Japanese food in general and been wanting to try some katsudon and ramen. The interior itself is fairly small but there are tables outside and the dining space there is much more bigger.
It was my first time to eat here and I’m so glad I did 😊 It was like eating in Ooma or Nihonbashitei, although, Ooma’s Salmon Skin Aburi Maki and Nihonbashitei’s Toro Spicy Make still hold my Japanese-food-loving heart ❤️
Anyway, we ordered the Spicy Salmon Maki, Fatty Salmon Sashimi, Teriyaki Chicken Steak on Hotpot, and a bottle of Takara Sho Chiku Bai Josen. I’m not sure if we were just hungry, but for some reason, everything tasted heavenly 😮 The sashimi was fresh and buttery, the maki was pleasantly spicy, the teriyaki chicken was chewy and had a good teriyaki flavor, and the sake had a good kick (which I unfortunately felt until morning, the next day 😆).
Since we got a bit tipsy (haha), we ordered additional skewers—chicken thigh and pork and enoki. These were a bit anticlimactic though, as the flavors were superficial. Plus we had to request for the chicken to be re-grilled as it wasn’t cooked that well.
Our bill was also on the expensive side, but all good. It was a gratifying overall experience, and will likely be back 👍🏼
One of the affordable restaurant within the Bistro Group. They offer a variety of japanese food. From ramens, sashimi, sushi, tempura, etc.
The restaurant is located at the top floor of Uptown Mall in BGC.

THE PLACE
Ambiance is nice. The place is clean and origanized.
THE STAFF AND SERVICE
It should have been an off peak time, but at 3:30pm on a Sunday, there were a lot of family groups eating at the same time we arrived. Visibly, there were only 3 staff members: a server, a manager, and the cook/griller in front. With that said, they were somewhat understaffed. Nevertheless, they were friendly and courteous. Waiting time is longer than usual, but tolerable. One note though, there were times that there were no staff “visible”/available, probably in the kitchen collecting orders for other tables.
THE FOOD
What we ordered:
* Ebi Dynamite Roll - this is probably my favorite. With an Ebu Tempura as the maki filling, topped with raw tuna in sriracha mayo
* Pepper Beef Stone Pot - this is okay for the price. Nothing special
* Variety of grilled skewers: Bacon Asparagus, Bacon Quail Egg, Chicken Thigh, Chicken Balls, and Chicken Skin - for a quick meal, these do not disappoint.
* Orange Yakult - subtle but yummy!
Simply what you see in the menu is what you get here at Watami! First time eating here, and was not disappointed! Staff were extremely kind and helpful, and food was delivered so fast and fresh. Definitely will be back!

I accompanied my friends coz I'm craving for sashimi, so I ordered Salmon Sashimi worth PHP375 for 5 slices. Looks good and fresh and was not disappointed. I also ordered tamago with mentai and cheese, PHP255 for 6 slices but I didn't taste any cheese or might be because the mentai has strong flavor. Might not go well in my opinion. Miso soup at PHP65 taste average. Rice and miso soup takes time to serve and was served after the tamago and sashimi and I had to follow up with this order. I suggest to sanitize the table rag after and before using. No offense, but the table smells bad and we have to request to sanitize the table.
I really enjoyed the food! Everything tastes good! I really like their sushi rolls. We ordered Volcano Roll, Spicy Salmon and Spicy Tuna, Watami Sad, Caesar Sad, Roasted Squid and Assorted Creative Skewer. The place looks so Japanese. I like their chopsticks too! It’s not a wood.
I really love their assorted chicken skewers and their assorted creative skewers. It's kinda pricey but it really tastes good. The ambiance is also nice.
I really enjoy digging some of the known Japanese food at Watami Uptown Mall branch. Some of the recommendable dishes you should try are the Sukiyaki Rice Ball, Sushi and the Salad.
I also like to recommend the Grilled Salmon and Wagyu sticks. These two were my favorites during our late lunch on the said restaurant. Ang sarap!
#ilovetoeatph 😃❤️
Here's my top five picks off their menu:
- Volcano Roll (PhP 295.00)
- Beef Wagyu (PhP 195.00)
- Salmon Belly (PhP 95.00)
- Salmon Sashimi (PhP 375.00)
- Beef Rice with Hot Spring Egg in Tokyo Style (PhP 285.00)

My first Watami experience was at the defunct-Greenbelt branch. All I can remember was the scent and taste of the delicious meal we had.
Coming full circle, we dined at the Watami branch in Uptown BGC. Watami never fails to amaze me. This outlet has an open galley kitchen where you can view how they grill their famous skewered treats.
First off the menu is their very eye-catching Assorted Sashimi Salad, pegged at P425. A huge bowl offers wholesome healthy goodness, with the slight tang of the vinaigrette pairing quite well with the slivers of tuna and salmon sashimi on top. It's like two dishes in one as it lets you enjoy your proteins and leafy greens at the same time.
A parade of different rolls and appetizers certainly proved to be a welcome sight. The Handmade Rolled Omelette (P175) was perfectly sweet and delightful, this egg creation was fluffy and soft. The Angel Roll (P375) is a mix of shrimp and kani sushi. Very pretty and tasty too!
We were also served a variety of premium skewers fresh off the grill. The Assorted Chicken Skewers (P295) were a good choice; it has liver, thigh, skin and chicken balls. Everything on the assortment was marinated well and grilled perfectly. We were also treated to sticks of crispy Salmon Belly (P95) and delectable Beef Wagyu cubes (P195). You definitely can't help but eat rice!
Lastly, a heaping Beef Sukiyaki Rice Box (P345) was the death of me. This was so good! The rice was richly smothered in the sukiyaki sauce, with the strips of tender meat, grilled peppers and roasted enoki mushrooms balancing the flavors of the dish. Indeed, this was a wonderful medley of Japanese savory goodness filling you up.
It is certainly nice to know there are at least 3 more branches of Watami in the metro. I find this casual dining place a fun foray where you can be sure to indulge in a helping of your favorite premium meat skewers. Don't skimp and enjoy their wagyu! A must-try!

First time to try this Japanese restaurant. Being a Japanese food aficionado, I'd say their food is just alright. Nothing too remarkable about the Ramen noodles we had. Takoyaki was fresh and nakakabusog. Good thing i finished our dinner with a cooling matcha drink. Pero i like the ambiance and feel of their BGC branch.

From the same company that brought us Friday’s, Village Tavern, and Italliani’s, Watami Grill and Sushi Bar is a Japanese restaurant in Bonifacio Global City. I like Japanese food in general so having a Zomato FMU here got me excited. The restaurant is located beside Texas Roadhouse at the 4th floor of Uptown Mall. The restaurant has a small dining area inside but can accommodate large groups of diners outside. It has an open kitchen where diners can see how their meals are being prepared. One may even opt to be seated in the bar area facing the kitchen to have a more authentic Japanese grill experience.
Watami is a Japanese Restaurant that is probably a one stop shop for (almost) everything you like about japanese cuisine. The restaurant itself looks like a one stop shop for everything good that you associate with japanese cuisine. Their open kitchen gives a view of their a sushi bar where you can see the Chefs make the rolls and the sashimi by hand next to a grill where you can see you yakitori and kushiyaki get cooked to perfection. Watami’s menu is quite extensive so we only tried a few dishes that gave us an idea of what they are really about. Here’s the rundown.
Skewers: For those who want something a little casual and rustic, Watami has several Yakitori Options to choose from including Assorted Chicken Parts, Bacon Wrapped Goodies, Salmon, and of course, Wagyu Cubes. We tried out their Salmon Belly, Chicken Thighs, Chicken Skin, Chicken Balls, Chicken Wings, Chicken Liver, and Wagyu Cubes. Each skewer was grilled nicely, cooked through with a light char and everything seemed to have been brushed with a sweet soy glaze.
My favorites were the Chicken Thighs and the Chicken Balls because they were juicy with a nice savory and sweet dynamic yet remained nice and light. The grilled salmon was melt-in-your-mouth delicious! I liked the contrast between the buttery fish and the crispy skin. Unfortunately i felt a little bit letdown by the wagyu cubes because it tasted pretty much like every other stick of grilled wagyu cubes out there, and the mediocre taste and chewy texture did not match the price (P195 per stick!).
I suggest that you get their Assorted Chicken Platter (P295) so you can try out all of their delicious chicken yakitori, i swear this is even better and less sinful than a bucket of fried chicken.
Sushi Rolls: Watami also offers a lot of crazy and unique sushi rolls for the adventurous eaters, don’t worry there are no weird seafood guts involved, just good old sushi rolls served in a unique manner with a lot more toppings than you’re used to.
We had their angel rolls which were an assortment of maki rolls with shrimp, crabsticks, or tempura. The result was a gorgeous, picture perfect platter consisting of different textures and patterns. Flavorwise, i was underwhelmed at how ordinary it tasted but it wasn’t that bad just very ordinary. I guess I was looking for something a little more interesting in terms of flavor profiles.
For those who want something simple, i suggest that you get their homemade omelette rolls which were like fluffy and creamy blankets of egg-y goodness!
My absolute favorite among those dishes was their Beef Sukiyaki Rice Box (P345.). The dish itself is deceivingly simple (just top rice with beef and im sold) but what really made the dish a winner were the small details that make it extra special. I loved the thinly slice slivers of beef which were cooked in a sweet, soy based sukiyaki sauce which made them melt in your mouth like candy. The glass noodle also collected some of the tasty sauce but the real winned was the sticky rice at the bottom which collected all of the lovely juices from the meat and the sauce. It’s served in a cute lunch box and i swear if i had this everyday i’d be in heaven. Oh the simple things.
Overall, the Experience at Watami was alright. The food was not terrible but it didn’t blow my mind and the good dishes really made it for me. I like that they offer a variety so diners can easily get what they want in one place (a lot of japanese restaurants nowadays specialize) and their dishes still felt true to its Japanese roots. The restaurant itself was cozy and cool but i feel like those who eat outside will have a harder time getting the attention of their server (like me). The service was also okay, they were polite but not to attentive like when a request to reheat a single wagyu cube skewer took 20 mins. Nonetheless, i still liked me overall experience and i suggest Watami for those who want a family friendly (or work lunch friendly) restaurant that wont hurt the pocket but still have authentic Japanese food.
Japanese restaurants are popping up like mushrooms all over Metro Manila. Frankly, I’m not complaining. The latest chain that I tried is WATAMI GRILL and SUSHI BAR in Uptown Ball, Bonifacio Global City. What drew me to this place is the kushiyaki, better known to Filipinos as yakitori. I’m a huge fan of this salary man staple in Japan. In the Philippines, this would be referred to as “pulutan.” In Japan, office workers often flock to a tiny alley somewhere along their route home from work. They would sit around a cramped bar and have a few drinks while watching the lone chef grilling some skewered meats on an open charcoal grill.
Always wanted to try watami for their legit wagyu cubes. Watami is bistro group's take if what a modern japanese grill restaurant would be. Aside from skewers they have other japanese meals available for you and your friends.
We had Skewered meats particularly Wagyu beef (P195), Chicken Balls (p85), Chicken thighs(P60), Chicken Wings(P60) and Salmon belly(95). Aside from that we had other japanese dishes as well like the Assorted Sashimi Salad(P425), Angel roll(P375) 60cs if variety sushi), beef sukiyaki rice box(P345) and Home made rolled omelet (p175).
The chicken thighs were savory and juicy at the same time giving jollibee a run for their thigh part. While the chicken balls tastes and feels like it was made from scratch. The chicken wings was okay but it was hard to eat cos it wasn't boneless. The wagyu cubes shine and glisten from its juices, taking a bite at it unleashes an explosion of umami for the tastebuds. Speaking of umami explosion, their salmon belly is literally the BOMB.COM of umami. Considering the omega 3 benefits and it isn' fried, it's a good choice to indulge with guilty pleasure. One stick isn't enough for their skewers, expect to order 3 to 5 sticks and an extra rice.
The assorted sashimi was on the fruity citrus side. The raw and tuna sashimi complemented with the greens. It can be a stand alone meal for those diet conscious folks and a good pairing with the skewers' acidic nature.
Remember how japanese people love their eggs and omelet preparation? This is a fine example of that! A modern take with a sweet twist.
The sukiyaki is another favorite! An all in one meal that hits all food groups. The meat was delicious, soft and sweet while the vegetables provided the crunchy texture.
Favorites:omelet, sukiyaki, wagyu beef, chicken thigh, salmon belly
Food 5/5 - very yummy and filled with umami
Service- 3.5/5 - considering how many the tables were i think they lack servers and when all the food was served the presence of the servers were a bit lackluster specially when we were having leftovers for takeaways.
Price 4/5- price is a little steep for some of the skewers but the chicken prices were affordable. Considering the amount of the other dishes it's pretty affordable.
Ambiance 3.5/5 - ambiance was pretty okay on the outside i love the bricks. Although i felt something lacking with their modern take of japanese grill. What's cool tho is you get to see your food being cooked outside the window.
Fire up the grill!
Watami has a lot of choices for those who love Japanese food, but its main draw is its yakiniku (grilled meat). Guests sitting outside the restaurant can view the grill in action through the window. Once in a while they might even be treated to a leaping gout of flame as the embers are sprayed to life.
My personal favorites among the yakiniku include the Chicken Balls, the Chicken Thighs, the Salmon Belly, and the Wagyu Beef Cubes. The chicken balls are crunchy and go great with soy sauce. The chicken thighs have a sweet and sour taste to them thanks to their marinade. The salmon belly is soft and creamy, feeling almost like butter with each bite, and the Wagyu beef cubes are soft and chewy, and full of flavor even though they only have a salt and pepper rub. Wash everything down with some hot rice tea or some of their choices of alcohol and you are all set.
Delicious Japanese mainstays at affordable prices, particularly liked the chicken teriyaki bites.
Servings are generous with friendly staff.
Would love to go back for more!
Food was okey. Volcano roll looks good but when they serve it, I was shocked that it was only spring roll and carrots in the center. Sukiyaki was okey. Staff were friendly.
Ordered:
Hamburger set - it was alright. The sushi is pretty small but tastewise tuna was good. The salmon was falling apart. The hamburger was yummy. Slightly oily but flavorful. Did not like the miso soup.
Will return with the bistro card.

Never really know this restaurant we only ate there for lunch treat by my boss i was really hungry and because i am not familiar with the place i ordered a safe food on the other hand did not regret it because it was satisfying i order the beef pepper rice it was love ❤️ on my mouth. I will definitely going back for sure to explore the menu. 😊
talk about courtesy, hospitality and friendly service -not to mention their mouthwatering sushi and jap roll offerings! guys, if you have a #Booky app (w/c ive been so keen and religiously using) they have a BOGO for Watami's spicy salmon roll! nit included in the pic was a warm miso-licious soup and a melt in your mouth beef wagyu stick that captured fajah's love for something skewered. i loved how game the supervisor was to all of fajah's demand (see the bowl of peanuts?! that's from the neighboring bistro resto that he sportily got ensure his taxing senior citizen customer was pleased) i admire you sir, because you were patient w/ my father, hehe.
Overall, great service especially the crew because they are attentive. Restaurant is a bit difficult to find. Food are delicious and they serve it on time.
The place is a bit small with nice interior. I like their spicy salmon maki and watami salad. Spicy salmon maki has generous amount of salmon and mayo on top. With their salad, I love the crunchy strips of wanton on top. Beef pepper rice is serve raw in hot bowl. They'll offer to assist you in mixing your bowl of rice for even cooking of meat. It was similar with pepperlunch. What I didn't like about their food is the creative skewer. It has a dull taste. Worst is the beef with spring onion. I end up removing all the spring onions inside and just ate the beef. The manager and staff were friendly but the service were slow. The price is affordable but the serving is small.
Enjoyed their Beef Pepper Rice, it was served in a nice box that truly maintained the heat of the platter. Beef was raw when served but once they mixed the rice and toppings it was cooked already. Our server offered that she will be the one to mix it. I liked this dish will order it again next time.
Great food and the liquors are surprisingly, reasonably priced. Serving size is an ok for me, a bit pricey most especially for the skewers. Their branch at Uptown Mall is actually connected to two other restaurants handled by the Bistro Group - Texas Roadhouse and Moe's Mexican (?), you can actually order from the other two while dining at Watami.

We dined outside Watami and there was a live acoustic playing by us. Even though we were far from the servers, we always got their attention when we ordered, or requesting for something we need. I enjoyed eating their sushi and katsudon. Make sure to ask for the sauce when eating their skewers.
Watami BGC has really great service, they're always smiling the moment you're in and after you bill out. They ask how your order is and if we needed anything, which was a plus. I just don't like the fact that the area has a LOT of flies.
Their sushi was between average to above average. I love the tuna maki roll (originally salmon, but we exchanged it for tuna for the richer flavor). The beef bowl tastes really good as well. While not the best, affordable and great for date nights or dinners with friends.
I just tried their Watami Salad since I'm on a diet that time but boy their salad is super worth your money. It costs only 140 pesos but it is really tasty. Their veggies is super fresh and their dressing brings out the natural taste of each of the veggies. This kind of salad should always be on your list to eat whenever your on a diet or just feeling healthy. Very budget friendly and super worth it!
I love Watami so much, I don't even know how to describe what I ate just now!
Always wanted to try this restaurant, I'm so happy mom brought me here! Ordered for their spicy salmon tempura (Php245) & beef pepper rice (Php 195). Honestly, the latter, presented in a cute bowl, tasted like the one from Pepper Lunch BUT the spicy salmon tempura is super duper yunmy!!!! Super duper fancy! I will definitely come back for it!
Moreover, the people from Watami is approachable & attentive. Downside is that you'll smell like the peper rice after eating it.
P.S. Enjoy discounts by using your Bistro card!
My husband and I ate at this restaurant last Valentine's Day. Prior to our dinner date, I went around Uptown Mall while waiting for him to be off from office to look for a restaurant where we can eat. Since I'm a pescetarian, I need to find a restaurant that serves seafood, fish and vegetables because I do not eat meat. The staff of this restaurant are friendly and accommodating. They readily showed me the menu.
I did not regret bringing my husband to this restaurant. Food is tasty and fresh. We tried their Watami salad, miso soup, volcano maki, beef bowl and grilled sword fish. I enjoyed all the dishes. I will definitely go back to this restaurant together with our 12 year-old son who loves Japanese food.
Super latepost.
Their Beef Pepper Rice is a must try!!! The fish is perfectly cooked as well, and doesn't taste 'fishy'. However, some of the lettuce leaves of their Watami Salad is not that fresh anymore (there were brown spots). Their servers were also attentive even if the restaurant was jam-packed😂. We will definitely come back again:)

Thank you, Japan!
Product: we got the Salmon Sashimi, Skewers (Chicken Thigh, Roasted Beef & Spring Onion Roll, and Bacon Quail Egg), Tempura, Beef Pepper Rice, and some Houseblended Iced Tea.
The salmon was soft and easy to slice, it gives that "melt in your mouth" feel to it. You can tell that it was cooked for a long time yet it still gives the raw flavor that it needs to have. The sauce could be better, I feel like it doesn't bring out the flavor of the sashimi but it does add to it.
The chicken was really good. If your kids don't seem to like anything on the menu, I bet that they would love this one. It is just like roasted chicken, marinated so well that the flavor is there up to the last bite. Two thumbs up! The roasted beef also had a lot of flavor but the onion roll balances it out, it is sweet and savory in the best way possible. The bacon quail egg reminded me of a famous filipino street food but with a twist, the ever lovable, bacon. I didn't regret choosing this because how can you go wrong with bacon?
The tempura had probably the least-flour-and-more-shrimp tempura I have ever had and that was amazing, not only are they big they also taste amazing, with or without the sauce. I just couldn't get enough but sadly, my tummy did.
The beef pepper rice was served in such a cool way, two servers came to us and asked if they can mix the rice for us, and we said yes. It was very fun to watch. The taste was okay, it had a generous amount of beef, I can tell you that. However, It did lack a bit of sauce into it. I was thinking that this was a more authentic kind of taste. Nonetheless, it is still delicious.
The iced tea, was bitter and sweet. You can probably already imagine what it tastes like. Nothing special but there's nothing bad about it.
Venue: It's located near it's other sister restaurants, The Bistro Group. It a bit loud outside if you want a quiet evening. We didn't mind it. The overlook of the place is cute, there were bottles of sake or wine probably so high that I couldn't get a nice picture of it. There's also a mini kitchen near the entrance where you can watch some dishes being cooked. The servers a little bit hard to call but it's probably due to a crowded place. The service was okay, we did wait 15 minutes as told but it was very much worth it. Looking forward to dining here again.
My family decided to have a late lunch in this branch to celebrate my dad's 65th yr being on Earth. Yes, my mother saw this in Pop Talk and decided to try it out for himself. There were some hits and misses with this branch as some of things we ordered are worth returning to like the Watami Salad, Gyoza on a Hot Pan and some of the skewers like the chicken thigh, salmon kani, bacon asparagus and the baby octopus. The rice meal toppings I'm not much of a fan of it as it doesn't appeal to my palate. Also the service that needs improvement as some of the servers are not attentive and lacked training to serve us properly. Overall this is a good option for something Japanese if you manage to drop by the Bistro Group floor of the Uptown mall.

Pricey but authentic Japanese grilled food. Good presentation and the sauce is really appealing to the taste buds, worth the try! But given the price, I'd enjoy this only with my parents. Lol
Last month, I wrote about a Food Run I attended that Zomato hosted featuring The Bisto Group x Citi. I’ve already included the first three restos in my last post. This time, I’m going to talk about the second half of those six restos we tried. Like the first three, Watami and Texas Roadhouse’s food were served in Texas Roadhouse while we went to Village Tavern. So this time, I can tell you guys about my experience in dining in the actual places where the food was from.
I love watami! Everything i had was yum yum yum! The staff is very helpful too, as they help you pick items from the menu. Ambiance is casual, perfect for a quick catch up with some friends.
Zomato together with Citibank setup a CITIxZOMATO Food Run of the various restaurants of the Bistro Group. It was a two day event and I was lucky enough to have the time to join them on the first day. Citibank was promoting their current partnership promo with the Bistro Group for 30% off appetizers and salads from August 15 to September 15, 2016. (blog entry on the full details click here)
Watami is the leading food and beverage brand in Japan and now has over 700 branches in the Asia Pacific region. We were able to try three dishes from Watami namely the Watami Salad, Caesar Salad and Gyoza on Hot Pan. I particularly like the Caesar Salad because it was topped with teriyaki chicken and hot spring egg! Definitely something new with this Asian twist to the classic Caesar salad.
In line with the Citibank Dining Program, I was invited together with some Zomato Foodies on a two day food run of the participating restaurants for their ongoing promo of 30% OFF on selected menus.
Watami Salad (Php 255)
Caesar Salad (Php 255)
Gyoza on Hot Pan (Php 255)
The Watami Salad is a myriad of textures and was kind of refreshing. Mixed garden greens, tomatoes, grilled teriyaki chicken, fresh shrimp, crispy wonton chips and special tuna mayo dressing. The gyoza was served hot and really enjoyed it. Their Ceasar Salad had a hot spring egg that added flavors to it.
We had a memorable family dinner at Watami Grill and Sushi Bar last weekend. We ordered both watami salad and caesar salad with teriyaki chicken & hot spring egg. Both offered a refreshing take on salad greens. We also enjoyed the salmon flake rice and beef pepper rice. Portions were good enough for sharing. Same goes for the spicy salmon tempura, california maki, and assorted sushi platters. Servers were attentive and helpful. Ambiance was very casual and warm. Will definitely recommend.
Was able to try 3 of Watami's dishes as part of a salads & appetizers food run: we had the
- Watami Salad (P145)
- Caesar Salad with Teriyaki Chicken and Hot Spring Egg (P155), and
- Gyoza on Hot PAN (P175)
I actually really enjoyed the salads. It was Japanese-inspired but tweaked. The Watami Salad was a very nice mix of crunchy lettuce, chicken salad and crunchy fried taco strips.
I also liked the Caesar Salad with Hot Spring Egg -- the egg yolk mixed with the salad dressing makes it richer and unique. Get this if you love molten egg yolk.
The prices are not as high as I expected, too. Around P150 for an order of salad with this many ingredients is very reasonable. Couple that with their current promo of 30% OFF using a Citibank card and it's a steal!
Watami is a typical modern japanese restaurant and they serve good food. The pepper steak, california maki, assorted skewers, gyoza are all 8/10. Service is 8/10 as well. Too bad the spicy tuna is not available at that time. Will be back soon.
Ordered the Watami salad, Salmon sashimi, Salmon flakes rice and the California Maki. It's supposed to be Spicy Salmon Tempura but they ran out of salmon so we settled for California Maki instead, they also substituted Tuna in the Salmon Flakes Rice.
But overall, the food was great. We really enjoyed it since my boyfriend and I were craving for Jap food :) the salad was already good for the two of us. Sashimi is really great! The flakes rice was too spicy for my tastebuds cause I'm really not a fan of spicy foods. 😁 price is reasonable enough. The crew were accommodating. Only downside is that serving the food takes time even though there were only two tables occupied during that time.
on the table: watami salad, shrimp tempura & pepper beef rice in stone pot
My-Food-O-Meter:
taste: 4/5
price: 4/5
service: 4/5
the tempura has a light and tasty batter, we only ordered the half size of the watami salad but it was enough for the theee of us to share and I like their beef pepper rice over pepper lunch's version, considering they are of the same price.

I was craving for sashimi, and Watami is the only japanese restaurant in UptownMall. So me and my gf gave it a try. We ordered the fatty salmon sashimi, assorted yakitori, spicy tuna roll, salmon fried rice & salmon Ceasar Salad.
The sashimi was amazing! It loterally melts in your mouth. The sushi was great, i love how they deep fried it, to make it crunchy on the outside. Yakitori was okay? They all tasted the same, because i think they all have the same sauce. Fried rice was bad, it was salty. Salad was okay. Nothing really special about it.
Overall it was good. I recommend the sashimi. It was delicious! :)

We enjoyed the assorted yakitori and spicy salmon tempura maki. The beef pepper rice can still be improved. The ambiance of the place is nice.
