Really good value for the price. Super delicious and servings are not too small. The foie long bao is a must. Everything is excellent, except for the baos. They're good but I'd skip if I want room for other dishes.

WOW. Their food is wow.

But lemme give you the backstory - You see, my boyfriend and I had our first fancy date in the original Black Sheep. We were dating for 3 months and he took me here to impress me. it was good but we found it expensive. So when I heard the original closed and reopened down the block from me, I held off from visiting, unsure what to expect. But i was always super super curious. After all, I enjoyed my meal, even if my boyfriend did not enjoy paying for it.

Today I just figured, eff it. I'm going. By myself. Yolo. And so I went. Laptop in tow. Determined to work and eat.

Their food was terrific. I had: Two-Na, Salmon Char-Sui and the Famous Foie Long Bao. (Again, yolo) I had every intention to order Champorado for dessert but I was so darned full. So I'll save that for a future visit. The bill damage: Php1,000 less a P300 booky coupon. For that caliber of food, Worth it. So worth it. This was a top notch meal and the plates were beautiful.

It made me sad however that it was empty on a lunch hour. I think the biggest thing Black Sheep has going *against* it, is its reputation.. the original was associated with being expensive, overly fancy, slightly pretentious and intimidating. The new Black Sheep is none of that! Thank God. Now This will be a restaurant I will add into our dinner date rotation. But maybe KKB from time to time kasi matakaw ako. But kami na so no need to act all demure, right? Ilabas ang true self! hahaha. Or should I say Baa.. baaa.. baaaaa? (Or oink oink oink?)

Fine dining hid in the heart of Chino Roces in Makati. I feel that this resto deserves more audience to the quality of good food that they're serving.

Must try are their foie long bao and all kinds of bun. For entrees, their prawn dish tasted really good. Also, try their set menu offered every lunch and dinner. Very affordable at p700 for all the best-selling gourmet dishes, gastronomically combined to give you great fill!

Available beers do not match the cuisine. Lights, Pale Pilsen & Corona + a few others. No Premium, Paulaner or Hoegaarden...You get the picture. Food was good though.

Had father's day lunch with my family. My dad ordered the tasting menu set while we enjoyed the ala carte meal.

The xiao long bao with Foie Gras inside is pretty good!! The rice dish was good and the peking duck dish thing. The overall experience was pretty nice and you know it's expensive. Hehe our bill ended up to be 13k.

Tried this restaurant for the 3rd time and it never fails! Service is good, food is great!! They really make sure you get value for your money with the best ingredients. Their Foie Long Bao with foie gras, xiaoxing broth, plum and peanuts is the best, one serving is not enough. It's what I keep coming back for. You have to order 2 or 3 to keep yourself satisfied! Definitely a piece of heaven in your mouth!! Another favorite is the Two-Na, with spict tuna, ma lai goo, chicken liver and grapes. You can't go wrong with it. Their Pig on a Pillow with crispy pork face, uni, spiced honey, kale wrapped in a bao and Hmmba with niman ranch pork, black rice, apricot and lima beans are good too! Tried the 23 ingredient Sheep Jumps Over a Wall fried rice as well. Everything was oozing with flavor. Their chefs make it a point to explain the dishes to you as well. Head chef Pat Go really found a way to keep their customers coming. This restaurant is a must try!

Have you ever gone out on a date and knew right from the very beginning that this was going to be an awesome date? Its been a while since I have had one of those but R from Chicago made sure that when we had our first date, it was going to be one of those nights.

Upon getting to Black Sheep, this is what greeted me. I have to say that the place was pretty impressive. Fine, it was very impressive. I really liked it.

When we got to our table, I was surprised to see that our menu for the night was personalized. It was a very nice touch and I just had an inkling that it was going to be a really good date.

This was the view that was facing us when we got to our table.

At night, this was the view. I had to borrow from Anton Diaz because by night time, I was too busy talking to my date that I had no time to snap a photo.

Some of the dishes we had that stood out for me were the following:

This is the Chicken and Egg which is a deep fried chicken fillet with dark beer glaze orange mandarin foam topped with salmon roe. It was so different. I liked it but up to now, I still don't know why. The soup inside the egg was a little tangy and it was like eating a small chicken fillet that was dipped in some really tasty chicken stew.

I fell in love with this. The Prawn Duo which consisted of prawn dumpling on the spoon with peanut and coconut broth inside partnered with fried prawn roll with prawn head mayo. ACK. THIS WAS SO SO SO AWESOME. If I could have asked for my date's plate, I would have haha. It was just soooooo good.

Next on my list is the Bahay Kubo. This was truly something since I can definitely say that this is the first time that I have eaten something like this. When it was first served on the table, I thought to myself "what's the potted plant for?"

It turned out to be a salad with 18 kinds of veggies in it. All the 18 vegetables in this salad are part of the song Bahay Kubo which makes it even more interesting. As for me, this was good enough for me to finish the entire thing. The black stuff on top is actually grounded eggplant. It seems I like eggplants when they are beaten to a fine tiny pulp.

The main course that I had was the Grilled Eel. It was okay but I realized that I am really not a fan of eel. I was still able to finish this though so it had to be pretty good and for those who love eel, I'm sure that this would be a hit for them.

The grilled eel was served with radish and kabayana zest which is a local lime from Mindanao. It also came with a bowl of poached egg and asparagus, seaweed tapioca and fish broth. I liked the soup more than the eel.

After, they served my dessert and the presentation for my dessert was just awesome. My date was actually envious haha.

This is the banana cashew cream with caramelized banana, popcorn, and brown sugar ice cream topped with beer butter mousse and they used liquid nitrogen for it. This was more of a novelty than anything else for me. I took delight in how it was presented but for the taste, I really don't care much for anything that has liquid nitrogen. Still, props to the presentation.

Thank you R for a wonderful first date. I had so much fun talking and discussing things with you. It really was a memorable night and I look forward to possibly hanging out again once you get back from Chicago. Till then ...
