Double Boiled Sea Conch Soup with Chicken in coconut Cup - Star of the Night! Artistically curated and super yummy.

Asparagus Wrapped Bamboo Fungus, Wolf Berry in Pumpkin Superior -

Wok Fried Flat Noodles with marinated Tender Beef - Smokey fragranced springy noodle with tender beef however not the usual chinese restaurant tenderizer tender beef.  You can still feel the meaty fiber shreds yet tender.  A very satisfying dish.

Pan Fried US Short ribs w/Black Pepper Sauce in Hot Iron Plate - Quite salty however the nicely caramelized onionssss are so flavourful and yummy.

Canton Singaure Fried Rice w/US Scallops and Shrimps - Lacks flavor despite of quality ingredients used to fry the rice.  Could have been better.

Simmered Free Range Chicken with Shallots in Black Truffle Sauce - The dish is good as it is, however lacks the truffle flavor I am craving for.

Szechuan Style Pouched Chili Grouper Fillet - Good but too little fish :)

In partnership with Zomato, I enjoyed a scrumptious lauriat— a grand feast ranging from cold cuts, mains, rice and dessert— at Canton Road, over at Shangrila the Fort. Focusing mainly on Cantonese, Huaiyang and Sichuan flavors, Canton Road serves up a real treat of modern oriental flavors using both local and non-traditional Chinese ingredients.

This set menu that I had was packaged with a private Dimsum Class that you and your family (or friends) can book for yourselves. It includes:
🦆 24-hour Marinated Salted Duck
🐔 Chicken in Shaoxing Yellow Wine
🥒 Marinated Chayote in Aged Soy Sauce and Chili
🐔 Double Boiled Chicken Soup with Black Garlic and Fish Maw
🦐 Crispy Prawn Ball in Osmanthus Sauce served with Seasonal Fruits
🐟 Crispy Cod Fish Roll filled with Mozzarella Cheese and Pumpkin Puree
🦆 Peking Duck Ball filled with Mushrooms, Celery and Black Truffle in Abalone Sauce
🐄 US Beef Tenderloin and crispy Foie Gras in Garlic Pepper Sauce
🥬 Bokchoy, Wood Fungus and Wolfberries in Superior Broth
🍚 Yin and Yang Duo Fried Rice with Egg White topped with Crab Roe, and Beets plus Black Truffle
🥭 Chilled Mango and Grapefruit Sago, Pan-seared Tikoy, and Red Date Rice cake shaped like a mouse

And you know what I love about this? It's very much different from the usual Chinese dishes I'd often have with family. Definitely a real treat for Chinese New Year. 🧧

This special Chinese New Year package goes for ₱28,000, held in one of their private rooms. It includes a Dimsum class where you can make your own dimsum and bring it home, along with the aforementioned set lunch good for 10 people. Very sulit indeed!

Canton Road is my favourite Dim Sum place in Metro Manila. Very very delicious, refined dim sum. Their chicken feet is the best, juicy, tender, well marinated, but unfortunately they no longer serve it.

Highly recommended for Dim Sum and fine Cantonese cuisine.

What a great experience! Dined here for my cousin's birthday and the guy who attended to us was so accommodating and funny! We love the fact that the staff knows their food enough that he has his own favorites!! A little pricey but I think worth going to on special occasions!

Sorry to reword the dishes!

We ordered the ff:

Roasting trio sampler- 9/10
- the asado is the best asado I've ever eaten in my whole life. IT WAS SOMETHING ELSE!! Even better than the ones in HK! Suckling pig was good but it was too fatty! Chicken was also good!

Salted egg bun a.k.a. Panda
- very good! Sudden explosion of the salted egg custard when you make your first bite!

Lobster wonton
- worth a try!

Cereal shrimp coated in Wasabi
- DEFINITELY A MUST TRY! It's served with enough quantities for all of us to try. A Very well executed dish!

Beef tenderloin with foie Gras
- this topped it all. The foie Gras was cooked perfectly. Outer part was solid enough with a little crisp! The beef cubes were very tender! Must try for me!

We also ordered a couple more dimsums, one thing that you should try is the black dimsum with scallops inside!

Always a fave. This one and Shang Palace in Makati Shang. The place is very tranquil unlike other chinese restaurants. This one isn’t loud at all. You have to try their pork ribs and short ribs. Too satisfying not to. 💯

Food is satisfactory but not authentic Cantonese. Service is overwhelming; too many different servers doing too many different things. The manager who was promoted from Summer Palace recognized me. It’s encouraging to see career progression opportunities for the staff.

Really good chinese food. if you are not on a budget and looking for good chinese food this restaurant is probably it. i love their lobster cooked with egg white, bbq pork charsiu, fried rice and roasted pork. they have a good fish in claypot too. Get a private room for a more intimate setting, but they have a minimum spend in order for you to stay in the room.
service is good, the kind you will get from a 5 star hotel.

Some of the highlights from my dining experience at Canton road in Shangri la the Fort.

- Scrumptious and crispy macanese pork.
- Opulent restaurant setting.
- Best pork and shrimp dumpings I've had
so far.
- Uniquely refreshing iced tea called
Canton Garden with lotus flower.
- Yangzhou fried rice that is so good
which we never failed to order on every
visit.
- Iberico pork on variety of dishes (e.g.
crispy belly, sweet and sour pork)

Review as of August 2018

Starting off with a bit of trivia, Canton is Guangdong. I didn't know that, so much for being Chinese 😅

At my little sister's request, we dined at the youngest of Shangri-La's chinese restaurants, Canton Road. Comparing with the older two chinese restaurants, Shang Palace and Summer Palace, Canton Road delivers the same Shangri-la level of attention to detail and service albeit in a more contemporary outfit. The waitstaff are very sensitive to the needs of their diners and spare no effort to ensure that we were comfortable during our meal.

The food was incredible. Each dish was served piping hot from the kitchen and served exactly as described on the menu (I cannot count the number of times when a restaurant's menu says Prawn and yet we're served shrimp instead! But order a plate of the Crispy Wasabi Prawn dish and see the size of their Prawns for yourself). I personally loved the consistency of the soup that we had ordered, it was just as thick as it needed to be. As someone who cooks, I would have loved to hear how each dish was prepared by the chef himself, but maybe that is reserved for Media and Golden Circle members.

Ok, that's all from me, I hope whoever you are reading this review will also enjoy dining at Canton Road in the future. Below are a list of the dishes I've tried here, still have a way to go before I can recommend a full spread. As with my other reviews, dishes I highly recommend ordering are marked with a star (⭐):
- Braised Seafood Soup with Crab Roe & Fish Maw ⭐
- Steamed Custard and Salted Duck Egg Bun ⭐
- Baked Pumpkin, black truffle and chicken puff ⭐
- Crispy Wasabi cooked Prawn ball with mango pearls
- Wok tossed chicken thigh in green lime and osmanthus sauce
-Asparagus wrapped bamboo fungus and wolf berry in pumpkin superior broth

Canton Road at Shangri-La at The Fort is one of my favorite Chinese restaurants in Manila. None of the dishes will disappoint.

Must-try dishes include the Macau pork belly, the US beef tenderloin with foie gras, the kung pao shrimp, the iberico sweet and sour pork, the stir fried green beans, the fried soft-shell crab and the Canton Road fried rice.

Kudos to Canton Road!

We celebrated the birthday of my friend in Canton Road and it was so memorable that I want to commend those people who made is more special.

We requested for a special dim sum set menu and Chef Wang designed a remarkable one. On the day of the celebration, Chef Wang is not on duty and he entrusted our lunch with Chef Irish. She made sure that our dishes are incomparable to anything we had tried before. I also requested for a special birthday cheesecake from Chef Myles and his creations were beyond my expectations.

We were feel welcomed by Cha and Nicko who are at the same time our server throughout the meal. What I like most of them was they know how to start a conversation to their guests. When the dishes started to come at the table it was well explained up to details by Karen and her knowledge of the cuisine is good. My friends were impressed. We ordered tea from Jason and he even recommend what kind of tea we should enjoy with our food. It was a superb lunch indeed!

We had quite a lot of food such as the French Beans, Two way duck, Bird’s Nest, beef with Foie Gras and many others. The quality is amazing, like the ingredients are fresh, the pots were not used on all the dishes and it feels like Chinese food has been given a fresh take. I also loved that the plate chargers were bone China in Chinoiserie prints and that they played Chinese music all through out. All in all a very good experience. 💙

Luxurious Cantonese restaurant at BGC! I like Canton Road’s interior and restaurant ambience. It feels both high-end and relaxing. The restaurant opens at 11:30am for lunch. We ordered a couple of dishes which were shared for about 6 pax. We ordered Green Grouper (fish), peking duck with soup, mapo tofu, pork, baked pumpkin, Xiao Long Bao, and I opted for Black Sesame Cheesecake for my dessert. I will definitely come back for their baked pumpkin and black sesame cheesecake! This restaurant has good food but really pricey so be financially prepared if you want to dine here!

i love the whole interior of the restaurant! it's so extravagant just like their food. we dined there last december for our christmas party and our group ordered whole set of food from appetizer down to dessert and they were all good. The freshness of the ingredients and the simplicity of the taste gives all the food their natural taste & when u go there i highly recommend the U.S beef tenderloin with foie gras in pepper sauce and the crispy soft shell grab. it's a must when you visit the restaurant. in addition to my review is that i liked their comfort room that they're using a branded lotions and soaps. :) can't wait to come back again.... i lacked some photos but when u dine in group don't forget to order whole set.

Ohh I was very impressed by Canton Road. I've always been a bit skeptical about restaurants in luxury hotels. I feel that they never really have to 'try' to serve delicious food, just because they are in a fancy establishment. Well, Canton Road proved that wrong.
Much better than the Chinese restaurant at the EDSA Shangri La! The interior decor is beautiful, with a soft carpet to make it extra cozy. The staff were extremely attentive and polite. Our food didn't take long at all to be served, and I didn't have to remind them twice for anything.
We came for a family lunch, and ordered the yang chow friend rice, lechon, radish, and some egg noodles. Portions were generous and staff always checked up on us to see if we needed anything extra.
The prices are reasonable for the quality of food and service you receive. It was a wonderful dining experience. We came happy and left happy.
If you have a hankering for good Chinese food. This is the place to be!

Ok so before I provide my perspective, when it comes to authentic Chinese food, nothing will ever beat a bustling alley-way generational Chinese chef in Hong Kong. So let’s smile on.

If you’re looking for an upscale atmosphere that has an aura of privacy from the busyness of Manila, with carefully prepared Chinese meals that have luxurious fusions, then this place will hit the spot.

I give it 5-stars because one doesn’t come here just for the Chinese food. They come here for the value add of the succinct well mannered staff, the opulent decor and the small details of the service that is of a very high quality.

The food. Is top notch. 9/10 in my books because of the fusions that really take the dishes to another level. I’ve barely scratched the surface of the menu so I’m excited to discover the menu at this well managed restaurant. Kudos to the managers and chefs for the well put together experience for your diners. At least the ones that notice the attention to detail of the entire business 👌🏼

It was an amazing dinner ordered so much food variety, each of which are made intricately and it does deserve praise.

Our server Ralph deserves a thumbs up for providing us with excellent service. Their Dimsum is one of the best!!! Will definitely comeback!

I'm going to post the soup because it looks mesmerizing. This sums up my experience at Canton Road. Visited this restaurant a couple of times it didn't disappoint. I especially like the angus beef with foie gras. Finding the foie gras in the dish is a joy in itself. Ambiance is spot on, private rooms are replete with everything you'd need including your own toilet. Great for a big family gathering or a celebration with your friends and colleagues.

The Canton Road Restaurant of Shangri-La at the Fort Hotel serves one of the best dim-sum menus in the world. The 2011 vintage of Chateau Simard Saint-Emilion Grand Cru, the only St-Emilion available on the wine list, paired amazingly well with Shrimp Dumplings, Bamboo-Charcoal Scallop Dumplings, Beef Curry Buns, Bean Curd-Wrapped Shrimp Rolls, Fried Shrimp Wontons and Spring Rolls.

We're a family who loves Chinese / Cantonese foods, so our every visit to Canton Road is a delight for us. We love this resto, and the hotel (Shangri-la at The Fort) even more!
These are some of the dishes we've already enjoyed:
1. Crispy free range chicken with five spiced salt - an upgrade to the regular chicken dishes
2. US beef tenderloin, foie gras in crispy garlic pepper sauce - classy, yummy dish
3. Yangzhou fried rice with chicken, mushroom, and ham - kids loved it!
4. Chef's shrimp dumplings - packed with fresh shrimps
5. Chef's pork dumplings - Iberico pork is the best!
6. a lobster dish which is a special offering during their New Year's Eve menu - really good

Highly recommended, though prepare to feel its effects not only on your tummy, but also on your wallet. :) It's worth every peso, though.

For the location it's not that expensive.

Food - 9/10 loved the way they present the food. The dishes were priced at 300php and up for sharing already. Pretty reasonable if you ask me considering it's inside a hotel.

Service - 9/10 not many go here or maybe it's not peak when we had dinner but each attendant has a different task at hand and they're very serious about it.

Ambiance - 9/10 traditional Chinese decor and the soulful Chinese music background. My fiancè who was Chinese would tell me the titles of the songs if he knew them.

Would definitely go back!

I have been wanting to visit Canton Road ever since I saw its panda bun stuffed with salted egg yolk. It was a powerful combination of two things I love and I couldn’t help nag R about it. However, our weekend schedules were uncooperative and we couldn’t find the time to drop by this new Chinese restaurant in Shangri-La at the Fort. And while I was weeping with sadness, I got an invite from the lovely gals of Zomato to feast on some of Canton Road’s spectacular dishes. Woohoo!

Food 5/5
Portion 5/5
Value for money 2.5/5
Service 5/5
Ambience 5/5
Parking 4/5
Cleanliness 5/5
Overall dining experience 4.5/5

Prepare your big fat wallet. Expensive but without thinking twice, Canton Road is worth the price tag. The very spacious dining area is so elegant, posh, and LIT. They have fabulous private dining rooms, perfect for families and friends. Service, I must say, is not only five star. If there's ten stars I would definitely give it a perfect 10! Sadly though, they dont validate your parking ticket -- would have been another attraction to customers if ticket validation was granted free of charge.

As for our visit, it was just a spontaneous dinner with my family. We had the following:

Starters
They served a small amount of complimentary starter and a shot of fresh fruit drink, which as far as I could remember was a combination of berries and dates. They were both amazing.
•Crispy pork belly, Macau style - WOW!!!! EXPLOSION! This is how lechon macau should be made!!! I assume the skin was blowtorched to make it extra crispy? I dont really know, but this is perfection.

Soup
•Yangzhou soft bean curd soup - Very impressed that what's pictured on the menu is exactly what they will serve right to your table. This was also good, but not much of an explosion like the lechon macau. Will try the other soups in their menu next time I visit.

Mains
•Duck waffles - Not for the inadventurous palate. To me it was amazing. Duck was fresh, soft, and juicy. Sprinkled with walnuts and drizzled in some syrup. I loved it.
•Beef tenderloin and foie gras in crispy garlic pepper sauce - AMAZING ALL CAPS. SUPER GOOOOOD. Enough said!
•Aged black vinegar kung pao prawn - SOOO DELICIOUS!!! Excellent dish. Honestly all the food we ordered was PERFECT!

Vegetables
•Sauteed french beans - crispy and garlicky french beans with chili. Not too spicy, nor too salty. To me it was just right - perfect blend of flavours just the way I like it.

Rice
• Canton Road signature fried rice - Don't expect the average chinese fried rice. To me this was simple yet superb. I love how natural the flavours are. It seemed like there wasnt even a pinch of artificial flavor in it.

Drinks
• Lemon tea with yellow ginger (forgot the exact name) - refreshing, but would try other drinks in the menu next time around

Props to the chef for his beautiful creations! Canton Road is a MUST- TRY! Definitely would come back and recommend to friends!!

we are a family of three, who walks in most Sundays with no reservations (because its Sunday!) ~ let me say Canton Road has accomodated us for lunches and dinners countless times till they have finally stopped asking us "why dont you call us first next time" because sometimes with a young, active toddler, you dont know where you will be going on a weekend.

In terms of food, it is one of our family's fav place to dine in search for fresh, great taste and hospitality.
Our Must haves ~ signature fried rice (make sure its dry, not wet...otherwise let them know)
Roast pork belly aka siew yok
Braised pork belly (tell them the prymid shaped dish)
Siew Mai with mini abalone

Great people too, but wished that those in the jackets were more friendlier, not only during special occasions.
SMILE more!
Thanks Brian and crew, and the chef who sometimes would come out to speak to us about the food's quality.

Lunch at Canton Road was truly an experience, and I thank our friend for treating us! The place is elegant but very relaxing. Although the staff stayed at a distance, I was surprised when one of of the staff approached me and offered to put a cushion at my back to ease my discomfort!

The food was excellent! For starters we had steamed xiao long bao dumplings, steamed pork and shrimp dumplings with mud crab roe and crispy pork belly Macau style. The crispy pork was cut in small cubes but very crispy, nakakabitin! :)

Then we had Yangzhou fried rice with chicken, mushroom and ham, truly yummy! Aged black vinegar kung pao prawn, roasted hazelnuts, this dish was so good you can't resist having seconds! We also had leshan organic chicken with dried chili; Szechuan pepper and double boiled sea conch soup green olive and Jinhua ham and poached broccoli

We were so full that we couldn't think of having dessert. After our meal my sister requested to see their function rooms so we can plan our next family occasion there!

I went to Shangri-la Fort for dinner at Canton Road, a Shang Dining Experience. While walking to quiet aisle of the hotel... the bright and elegant interior set-up of the place really amazed me. Its like I am destined in another place. As I enter the restaurant, the receptionist assisted me to my table before the staff approached me for my order. I asked the staff if the Panda Bun is available, she said "during lunch time only but I will check inside the kitchen if there is..." I also asked if the Wonton Noodle Soup is available, again she said "thats during lunch time sir, but I will check inside the kitchen". After few minutes, she said that the bun and noodles were available which I can order.

I got Wonton Noodles Soup with Honey Glazed BBQ Pork for Php288.00 and paired it with Steamed Custard and Salted Duck Egg Bun for Php228.00.

While waiting for my order one of the staff serves glazed peanut and a shot of Iced with dates.

🍜 Wonton Noodle-Soup with Honey Glazed BBQ Pork - ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 5/5
"Average serving is for 1 pax only, but this is uber loaded noodles with wonton and honey glazed bbq which 2 people can share (madaming sahog hinde tinipid). They have good presentation of the food and it's very appetizing. I like the balance taste of the soup not that salty and not that too hot (which you're tongue will not get burnt for the first sip). I add some chili garlic oil to add some spice... masarap!"

🍜 Steamed Custard and Salted Duck Egg Bun - ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 5/5
"These three pieces cute little panda bun with custard and salted egg inside were super "hirap kainin" because of the cute presentation. And it really taste good, "nakakawala ng umay and nakakabusog".

Canton Road restaurant is huge. They have function halls too. Using some dark colors where the warms lights in the ceiling reflects with the classy table of the restaurant looks really fantastic and elegant.

Canton Road is located at the 2nd Level of Shangri-la Hotel - The Fort, Bonifacio Global City, Taguig City.

Absolutely fantastic Cantonese food with a twist. It was love at first bite as we started our meal with the salted egg bun (which made me feel guilty biting into the cute panda bear), then it just kept on getting better with the siumai, hakaw and the roasted duck & Macau pork belly. Midway thru dimsum, there was a caucasian guy who dropped by our table, probably maitre d', & made some suggestions. We ordered the French beans he recommended & it too did not disappoint. It was so crunchy & full of flavor that bursts in your mouth as you take bite; better than the 5 Treasure vegetables we 1st decided on. A must try here is the Fried black rice. First time to have such a dish, i was wondering what gave it so much flavor then realized it was taro! Wonderful mixture of flavor in one pot. Service was impeccable too, our waiter Ralph was really attentive & quick to serve our needs. Food came out quickly and still warm considering it was family day sunday lunch. The place is spacious & comfortable enough for big families like ours(group of 12) and kids feel right at home despite the seemingly ostentatious decor. Definitely the new place to be when looking for chinese food.

Okay, let's not kid ourselves here - This is the kind of place that you need to be ready to spend a little money, remembering that what you are paying for is not just a drink or a meal. You can go to a fast food Chinese restaurant and pay much less if that is what you want. Here, you are paying for the atmosphere and the experience, to which Canton Road delivers in bulk.

My positive rating is for the service and ambience. My partner, who is not Filipino, was in complete awe of 'the luxury!' I rolled my eyes and calmly explained that that is how we Filipinos roll. We had a set menu. The signature fried rice with uni was gimmicky. No uni flavor. Uni's wonderful texture was wasted. My favorites were the crisp vegetable appetizer -- a rainbow timbale of shredded goodness, and the soup -- a clear, clean tasting, umami-rich broth with spareribs, conch, and green olives. The food was fresh but the chef just wasn't skillful enough.

Exquisite Chinese food partnered with a great ambiance and excellent service. What more can one ask for? Canton Road is one of the best---if not the BEST---- restaurants in the Philippines offering Cantonese cuisine. The people there are so nice and warm. I had such an enjoyable experience.

First, let me just say this place is AWESOME. So much of the awesomeness of this spot comes from the vibe. It's been a long time since I've been in such an elegant Chinese restaurant to chow down.

The dark wood with the high ceilings and the thoughtful accents with textured silk panels make the space feel so grand. The decor is reminiscent of what I imagine Shanghai would've been like in the 1920s - antique furniture, paintings, and soft, comfortable seats. I've only been here for lunch, but I can imagine the ambience at dinner would be even better.

The food definitely upped the experience even more. I love Chinese Food so I had high hopes for Canton Road, and it did not disappoint. The menu has mostly traditional dishes featuring the Huaiyang Cuisine in the Jiangsu province but includes other regional Chinese options with a few newschool items thrown in for good measure. They did several of my favourite Cantonese dishes really well.

For appetizers, we had some Poached free-range chicken in Shaoxing yellow wine, Jiangnan Sweet and Sour Pork Ribs, and Marinated White Raddish in aged white vinegar. These are simple yet sophisticated meal starters and will surely whet anyone's appetite.

Next, we had their Flamed Trio Barbecue Sampler. This platter truly stole the show and was one of the highlights of our lunch. It had Honey-glazed Iberico Pork, Roasted Peking Duck, and Macau-style Crispy Pork Belly. My favourite of the bunch would have to be the Roast Duck. It had the shiniest skin and the juiciest meat. While these meats are good on their own, I reckon they're also best eaten with fried rice.

Then, we had their Soft bean curd soup with Yunnan Ham. It may look like your typical soup but I kid you not when I tell you that the method of making this soup wasn't like a walk in the park. The bean curd and the Yunnan Ham were sliced so thinly--so thin you wouldn't even recognize that it was in fact, tofu. The knife skills of the Chef was just mind-blowing and absolutely impressed everyone in the dining room. This soup was mildly-flavoured but the Yunnan Ham provided the "umami" taste.

Another favourite item on the menu was the Mingnan Five Spice Marinated Pork Wrapped with dried bean curd sheet (or in plain words - Kikiam, the legit kind). Honestly, I've never had Kikiam this good. It was crunchy in all the right ways, juicy, extremely flavorful but still very light.

We then moved to sampling a few of their best-selling dumplings. The steamed Iberico Pork Dumpling with Abalone and Black Truffle was without a doubt, a cut above the rest. The Pork Dumpling on its own was already amazing but it was generously topped with Black Truffle and Abalone really packing in a punch. The richness of the pork, the saltiness of the abalone, and the earthy flavor of the truffle complement each other really well, and this may very well be THE BEST "Siomai" I've eaten yet.

Aside from the food, we also got to try some of the finest teas (hot and cold) they offer. Their signature tea - the Canton Garden had a very distinctive but delicate smoky taste. I enjoyed it iced, but I bet it's also best served warm. To sweeten the palate, the lunch concluded with Mango Pudding, Baked Swan Taro Puff, and some seasonal fruits. Pudding was creamy, light, and not overly sweet. The fruits were fresh and the perfect palate cleanser.

All in all, the meal was excellent! The food was impeccable, beautiful, and impressive. The appetizers and entrées are so good that I recommend getting different items and sharing them for the table. The service is wonderful with knowledgeable and attentive staff. Dining at Canton Road definitely feels more like an experience.

*Many thanks to the staff of Shangri-la Fort and Canton Road for hosting me.

Woohoo!

Canton Road is one of the newest restaurants in Shangri-La at the Fort and I was so happy when I got an invite from Zomato to take part in its food tasting event. I was looking forward to try its adorable panda buns stuffed with salted egg yolk and breathtakingly beautiful tea drinks. And that day finally came and I enjoyed my lunch more than I pictured.

We got to try several dishes, from the flavorful sweet and sour ribs to the crowd favorite barbecue trio sampler, from the succulent Iberico pork dumpling with abalone and black truffle to the beautiful swan taro puff. Every single dish was delectable and I am drooling right now as I remember each one.

My blog about this must visit restaurant will be up soon. :)

Thank you, Canton Road and Zomato!

I was excited when Zomato invited me to Canton Road, Shangri-La at the Fort’s Chinese fine dining restaurant. It had an amazing interior with intricate, luxurious-yet-trendy details. There were also a lot private dining rooms with couches, dedicated servers and their own washrooms. To add to the level of sophistication, the music was in Chinese but rotated between American 30’s and French 40’s. Truly a 1st class experience!

Canton Road is the newest restaurant in Shangri-La The Fort. It boasts cuisines derived from all over China with tons of expat chef imported from their own respective provinces.

The design and concept of the restaurant can be described as pure elegance. Without the touch of reds, wooden Chinese furnitures and intricately designed carpets and wall hangings will welcome you.

The excellent vibe of just being in 'Shangri-La hotel' is present. From the first step to the hotel upto the restaurant has the feel of royalty. People would sincerely approach to assist you on where you're heading. The details of their service to the interior is also evident in the food of Canton Road.

Jiangnan Sweet and Sour Pork Ribs is their version of the vinegared pork ribs that uses bkack vinegar. Their version is much lighter and has a balance of sweet and sour. Can't get enough of this.

Their roast BBQ sampler or our cold cuts as we are familiar with is the best. Their asado uses Iberico pork which has a dense pork flavor, slightly sweet but perfect. Crispy Pork Belly or Lechon Macau has a nice thin crisp skin that is like potato chips to the bite. It has a hint of five spice powder that gave it a new dimension to the dish. The jellyfish side dish was jelly and crunchy. They added some sichuan peppercorn that gave it a floral-spiced kick!

Soft Bean Curd soup with yunan ham. A simple tofu soup that is flavored with the smokey ham and dried scallops. The most amazing thing in this dish was the silken tofu was sliced so thinly that it made it look like a misua and just melts in your mouth!!!

Mingnan Five Spice Marinated Pork or what we know as 'ngo hiong keng' or some kikiam for the Chinese was fantastic! Chopped spiced pork, pork fat, and water chestnuts wrapped in a tofu skin wrapper then fried to crisp! The balance of fat and meat gave it a multi textural composition in your mouth! It's just addicting!

Steamed Crystal Skin Shrimps👑🍤 Dumpling
or hakaw was sweet and succulent! They used King prawns that gave it a ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ flavor!

Steamed Iberico Pork🐖 dumpling with Abalone and Black Truffle, in short 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟 siomai! If I can give it a Michelin, i'll give it a 3 for the siomai alone! Sweet, succulent, earthy, tender, chewy, seafood umami. No words can describe this dish. And its just P488 per order! 🙌🏻🙌🏻🙌🏻

The cutest panda bun or their Steamed HK custard and salted egg bun! The bread was soft and the filling was rich without the overpowering of the salted egg. It's just a balance of flavor. Just be careful to bite into it, it's hot. The trick is to break it into two before biting. Don't be too excited to eat the panda, careful, they might bite! Super worth every penny! 🐼🐼🐼

Sweet Taro Puff was as cool as the panda, shaped like a swan. It was baked perfectly that created the thin, not oily, puff pastrt crust that breaks like a croissant. The taro filling was smooth and creamy. It was just a heaven for the taro lovers.

Canton road's Chinese cuisine is just at par, in terms of prices 💰, to other standalone high-end Chinese restos, but in terms of FLAVOR, I'll choose Canton Road. The food of canton road is just worth every penny.

THIS IS THE BEST CHINESE RESTAURANT IN MANILA. (Believe me, I'm talking as a chef and a Chinese)

Located at the Shangri-la at the Fort Manila, this Cantonese restaurant with a twist is a must try. The dining room is beautiful, the service was excellently efficient when we were there and the entrees are superb, making this a solid choice for a sit-down lunch or dinner while at BGC.

So go ahead. If you have a craving for Cantonese cuisine while at BGC, or you need a last minute ADR, give Canton Road a try. And order those dumpling favorites. Because you must.

One of the better Chinese / Cantonese Restaurants in The Metro. Good food, nice ambiance, great service. It's quite pricey & the portions are pretty small (all photos are 2 portions each). My only complaints will be Crispy Pork Belly is quite salty, Cod wasn't deboned properly, & they don't validate parking.

Chinese cuisine with a twist!

Canton Road opened last March 2016. I was pretty curious if this restaurant will measure up to Shang Palace. So, we decided to venture to the restaurant one fine day.

We started off with a free cold tea (with juice of some fresh berries) and wintermelon. Glass of tea was really small (shot glasses or slightly taller) so the liquid just sank straight down to my bottomless pit (my tummy). Wintermelon is wintermelon. Haha! Nothing special.

We were served with the bamboo pith with mushroom soup next. The soup really got me hooked and was served in a mini claypot. Heat retention was awesome because of the pot. Also, the soup was boiled then put in the oven to bake. Broth was chicken broth and it had fungi/sea cucumber in it aside from the bamboo pith and mushroom. Soup was really interesting.

For the mains, the standout dish is really the stirfry cod fish with celery and caramelized walnuts. everything blended so well. I usually do not eat celery coz of the strong taste but, for some reason, I kept eating this dish. They managed to temper the icky celery taste.

Other dishes with typical but they did apply some twist. For example, their lemon chicken was encrusted with almonds instead of your regular flour and lemon sauce was served on the side. Forgot the actual name of this dish in the menu but certainly tasted like lemon chicken. The stirfry veg is also normal.- what you would order in any Chi resto.

For dessert, we had black sesame cheesecake and jasmine tea with glutinous rice and sesame paste. Didn't get to try the second dessert. The cheesecake though is tasty - not too sweet and enough to get you hooked. But, again, I've tasted better cheesecakes.

Room had the modern Shanghai feel and you'll definitely feel cozy and welcomed. Staff was amazing. All of them are attentive to your needs.

Will I be back? Maybe dining once is enough experience. Do I regret dining here? Nope. Certainly not. Worth trying to experience a different angle of Chi dishes.

Food in Canton road shall I say is typical Chinese with a twist. What I appreciates with canton road is they you feel special right from the start. They will suggest food you will like

We start with yellow chicken with Xiao sing wine and I must say it taste good yet the chicken is tough to chew somewhere in the middle. Hot and sour soup has twist because it comes with cheese stick and crab claw. But the serving is somewhat slow for me... main course came with trio barbecue, red snapper and lamb tenderloin. All I can say is good but it's just average. Something you won't wow. The fish is quite overcook so the meat is a bit tough. The lamb has strong cumin taste that it overpowers the meat. But over all its good.

Dessert is heaven. I should have just order this more. It made my dinner complete. I had crysthenum tea to capped my dining experience and it's good but the pot is the smallest I have ever seen.

Would I come, I will say yes to try other food. Perhaps today is not the great day but it was a good day!
