I was privileged to try Varra last month, thanks to Gel and Lovely. The Varra team was one of the most accommodating restaurant teams I’ve ever met. They were also so generous to serve so many dishes to me and my foodie blogger friends.

🍄 Crispy Shrooms (Oyster and Enoki Mushrooms) - Php 130
I like how the shrooms were super light on the stomach, making it a really good appetizer. I like the enoki ones better than the oyster.

🐽 Spam Chips (with garlic aioli) - Php 210
If you’re looking for something salty to partner your beer with, this appetizer is perfect. The chips were thin and not oily. It has a strong kick of saltiness in every bite. I didn’t notice that I ate half of it already.

🍟 Messy Fries (with beef, cheese and garlic aioli) - Php 230
No bar is not complete without their own version of fries with nachos-like topping. Varra’s Messy Fries had a delicious mix of cheese, beef and garlic aioli that’s not satiating.

🧀 Varra’s Nachos Overload - Php 350
Like their Messy Fries, the nachos tasted delicious!!

🐷 Sizzling Sisig with Egg - Php 270
Even though it was not crunchy, Varra’s version of this favorite Filipino dish was still tasty.

🥩 Varra’s Steak Salpicao - Php 380
Their beef salpicao had a small serving but it was good. Though it was more oily than garlicky, the meat was super tender and really soft.

🥚 Classic Carbonara (with poached egg) - Php 290
Varra made their version of the carbonara pretty straightforward. It had a light creamy taste that’s perfect for having a simple meal.

🍝 Bolognese - Php 250
One of the thing that should be highlighted for this pasta is that it is served with rosemary chicken on top of it. The bolognese pasta is on the sour side, like how the original bolognese is. The roast chicken was a good complement to the spaghetti.

🐮 Beef Tapa (with salted egg and salsa) - Php 240
Varra’s take on this breakfast favorite was surprising. Being the first rice meal I tasted, it was really good. The meat was tender and not salty. The serving was a little generous, too.

🍗 Soy Garlic Chicken Poppers (with coleslaw) - Php 240
The chicken poppers was another rice meal I’d probably alternate with beef tapa whenever I visit Varra. It was full of soy garlic flavor and tasted good even without the sauce on top.

🐔 Chicken Wings (Soy Garlic, Garlic Parmesan) - Php 230
It is no surprise that the soy garlic wings were good because their chicken poppers of the same flavor was delicious also. For me, it had almost the same taste - just different chicken parts. The garlic parmesan could’ve been better because it had more garlic than what I expected.

💙 Varra Mountain - Php 200
Listed under the signature cocktails of the resto, Varra Mountain looked fun and interesting. It had a mountain of crushed ice on top but it sure had a kick of alcohol in every sip.

💚 Basil Slush - Php 200
Basil Slush is technically a frozen mojito and is my personal favorite in Varra. I loved how this cocktail still had the taste of alcohol even though the crushed ice melted already.

💗 Rosée el Varra - Php 200
This cocktail is a collaboration between Varra and Hoegaarden. It features Hoegaarden’s newest products - Hoegaarden Rosée. I’m not a fan or flavored bottled beer but this cocktail might change my mind.

Plus, one thing to note is that they have so many outlets!!! There’s no reason for you to have an empty battery here!

This is a new turf in Greenhills aside from All the neighboring bars. I would Just Love to suggest for them to produce Hoegaarden Roseé as a Draft beer. Would definitely order the pint that is usually served in other bars. Though Their cocktails like Their Varra Sour, Gin Tonic and Lychee Spritz Are really great. I would also commend Their Crispy Shrooms though it has a Light serving, Sisig is really worth it, if you’re drunk, it’s the best kicker! Nachos Are great for sharing as well. Ive tried lokita for the very First Time and it tastes like Limoncello and smells like Citronella. Surely a Chill place to hang!

Indeed a good place for a good night! Unlike the usual resto bar this is somehow chill, not that loud. The interior is really good. High ceiling. By the way, they have private rooms if incase you prefer a more private celebration. The cost also is consumable so fair enough.

For the food I really appreciate everything except the carbonara. It's not bad but I'm pretty sure they can do better. For non alchol guest they serve mocktails but hey, why go if you won't drink right? I suggest you try the Varra's signature mountain cocktail and the other green one. I think it hit me a bit that's why i forgot what its called. Lol.

I can’t remember a time when I would consider going to San Juan for a night out with friends. Shopping, yes, because of Greenhills shopping center. But many of us don’t realize that even before BGC or other gastronomic destination ever existed, San Juan has been a stable area for food finds and I'm not only talking about restos in Greenhills but also neighboring vicinity like Wilson St., Annapolis St., P. Guevarra St. and Little Baguio.

VARRA RESTO BAR - Located in P. Guevarra where they got its name.  A newly opened resto bar, not even a month old, but had already people talking about them as they have so much to offer - from their affordable sumptuous meals to their colorful drinks and because of its homey minimalist relaxing vibe. (PS: Ms. Lovely Tan designed the place herself.)

San Juan City is a place well known for restaurants that serves delicious food with hefty servings. I recently been to this newly opened restaurant/bar in the area called Varra which stays true to this tradition. Located at the third floor of this building in P. Guevarra St., you have to go at the back end to reach this one-month old tryst.

This newly opened resto-bar will surely give you the best chill place you want for you and your friends. I recommend the place for those who want to catch up and chill at the same time.

You can also rent the private room for a consumable amount for a no hassle party or reunions.

The food are sumptuous and very inviting. My personal favorite is the crispy shrooms and salpicao. I suggest you don't forget to order both.

They also offer variety of drinks that are freshly prepared when ordered.

Prices are reasonable and staffs are approachable too.

Best chill place and absolutely a one to go back place for me. 💪

There’s a new resto bar in San Juan that is worth the visit, despite it being a new kid on the block. Varra Resto Bar has a lot to bring to the table, showcasing their sumptuous yet affordable comfort food, colorful and delicious cocktails, and a cozy ambiance in the early evening, which eventually becomes party-ready once the clock strikes 10pm.

If ever you’re in the San Juan area and you’re looking for a place to dine and drink, or just chill for the night, why don’t you give Varra Resto + Bar a try? The newly opened resto-bar serves a wide variety of comfort food and an extensive selection of alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages.

The verdict? You’ll be surprised at how good the food is at Varra!

STARTERS

I feel like it’s a must for bars to have pica-pica food in its menu. Varra offers an extensive line-up of appetizers and bar chows to help start your dining experience in a good note, or just to have food to go with your drink.

1. Mushroom chips are very common now, but Varra’s Crispy Shrooms (🌟) is a class of its own. Fried oyster mushroom chips and enoki mushroom shreds lightly seasoned with salt. Perfect for those who want to eat without the guilt.
2. Nachos is such a bar staple. It’s the perfect finger food and it’s good for sharing, making it an easy choice for groups. Varra’s Nacho Overload, as the name suggests, is a big platter of crispy tortilla chips smothered with lots and lots of toppings - ground beef, salsa, olives, jalapeno slices, and cheese sauce!
3. What’s better than French fries? French fries with toppings! Varra’s Messy Fries, just like their nachos, is overloaded with chili con carne, cheese sauce and garlic sauce! You just can’ help but lick that extra sauce off your fingers. Yum!

4. The Soy Garlic Chicken Wings (🌟) is the bomb! I just love how despite coating the chicken in sauce, the skin remained crispy. Each bite is an explosion of sweet, salty, and garlicky flavors.
5. The Honey Sriracha Chicken Wings, on the other hand, has a good balance of sweet and spicy; although I think it may need a dash or more of sriracha for a spicier kick.

** They have unli chicken wings for Php 359, and it comes with rice!

MAINS

1. Varra’s Steak Salpicao (🌟) is life changing! I just can’t put to words just how good it is. The tenderloin steak is cooked to a perfect medium rare, with each slice showing a reddish pink color. It is drizzled with the salpicao sauce and smothered with lots and lots of fried garlic bits! To finish, cloves of roasted garlic are added as garnish. Okay, I got hungry writing about it.
2. Another sizzling option is their Sisig. I love sisig and as a Kapampangan, I have high standards for sisig and Varra has met that. Their version is more on the crispy side, but it’s the same sisig taste I am looking for in a sisig (ma-calamansi!).
3. Other than the above items, Varra also offers pasta dishes, just like the Chicken Pesto Marinara and Classic Carbonara we’ve tried, and also rice bowls, like the Beef Tapa, which are all very good too!

DRINKS

1. Varra Sour (🌟) is a sweet and sour drink that is Varra’s rendition of the classic Amaretto Sour - almond liqueur, citrus base and a maraschino cherry.
2. The Basil Slush is an ice blended cocktail with fresh basil leaves - a drink that will surely leave you a refreshingly herby taste.
3. Another exquisite drink is this Hoegaarden Rosée (🌟) - a raspberry flavored beer drink. The presentation is interesting as there’s a whole bottle of Hoegaarden Rosée submerged in the drinking glass.
4. Other drinks we’ve tried are the Chocquila, Varra Mountain and Frozen Peach Iced Tea. And just so you know, they offer unlimited wines and unlimited whiskey too!

Before heading my way to Varra, I was expecting it to be like a club that is dark and noisy. On the contrary, it was one of the relaxing and perfect family/friends hang out place in San Juan area.

Located at P. Guevarra (that is where thet got their name), this newly opened restobar is a place I would definitely go back often.

Foods/Drinks ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
Variety of comfort foods can be ordered but the must try are the following:
✔️ Crispy Shrooms
✔️ Steak Salpicao
✔️ Nachos

There is a wide selection of alcoholic drinks that barkada can enjoy.

Ambiance ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
If there is anything that makes me wanna go back to this place, it is the place itself. It has a very chill vibe where you and your friends can casually dine in and have a great time.

They also have secret room for group or people who wants to have a private event.

Interiors were pleasing to the eyes.

Price ⭐⭐⭐⭐
Surprisingly, considering the taste of foods and the place, the price were very reasonable.

Untold Notes:
The restobar is only open at night time. The aircon was cold in a good way. Parking can be found at the back area where the carwash is located. Staffs were very nice and is willing to take assistance on your needs. And oh, I like the faucet in their comfort room.

A lot of businesses are born every day, and most of these are food-related, may it be manufacturing, distribution retail or restaurants. We all need to eat so why not profit out of it?

Varra in P. Guevarra just opened. And yes, they got its name from the street. This homey spot is both a restaurant and a place to chill with your go-to, alcoholic fix.

Since I don’t drink, I went on a feast instead. I got 11 items from the newly minted menu, a combination of familiar and uniquely curated dishes. The chef is also a kitchen guru in Providore, BGC.

So what stood out for me? For starters, it’s the well-marinated, Salpicao in steak cuts. I recommend pairing this with cheesy, Dirty Fries. It’s a combination that’s truly comforting.

Another should not miss dish is Varra’s version of crisp, Pork Sisig with a runny egg. This is one of the best Sisig I’ve tried. Don’t forget to have this with rice, or better with their take on Tapsilog.

This restobar also takes pride in their Wings, both the ones I got to nimble on were promising. No need for an additional dip, especially on the Honey Sriracha.

If you got drinks, worth checking out too is the unique, Spam Chips and Enoki Mushrooms. Both are deep-fried, accompanied by on-point dips.

Varra has Pasta as well, and for this line, I recommend the Chicken Pesto Bolognese. A complete meal on one plate. It’s good for 2 people as well.

Super nice ambiance, and the food is so good! The salpicao is a must order since the meat is so tender. My fave is the truffle pasta. We also ordered the sisig and the tapa. The sisig is perfect with rice! Will definitely come back for more. Their unli-wings and unli-whiskey is 🥰🥰🥰🥰. So glad they opened in San Juan.
