Great authentic Japanese Restaurant
Tuna taco at @ichojapaneseresto
I really love Japanese food and this probably is my favorite of all. To have the perfect mixture of crunchiness and raw tuna with mayo.
I forgot what the occasion was, but we learned about Icho from my grandmother who had dined there with her amigas a few months back. I feel as I've been living under a rock as Icho has been around for nearly two years. Anyway, she couldn't stop raving about how good it was, so we decided to give it a try. It's been my go-to Japanese restaurant for when I need my fix!
Would give this place an overall rating of 5/5. Quality of food, specifically the seafood, is consistently fresh. Like, quality is always A++++++. Service is really good, waiting time is never too long, really. Ambiance is also quite nice. Highly recommended!!
Authentic Jap food at the heart of metro. Quite pricey, but all dishes we got were worth the price. We ate here on a Sunday for lunch, and the place was jam-packed. Hence, we opted to sit at the bar to avoid the wait.
Service was still fast throughout our stay. Food was superb, too. Particularly commend their sashimis—they were fresh and I would say, of top quality. Melts in the mouth!!!💕
Almost everything about this restaurant, I liked.
The relatively ample parking and inside, the well-ventilated and spacious dining area, the attentive and well-trained service staff and of course, the no-nonsense menu.
Speaking food, I fell in love with the Foie Gras Aburi, that lightly broiled good liver with balsamic teriyaki sauce with susi rice. Another masterpiece I admired was the Hiroshima Kaki Motoyaki, baked oysters with creamy mayonnaise based sauce.
The Icho Roll was this colorful and beautifully presented bestseller. Well-balanced reds and greens playfully dotted this maki sushi number. Tastewise? Equally a winner.
On the downside, I didn’t much enjoy the Robata Platter. It’s a collection of grilled meat in skewers that, in my opinion, was on the dry side. Or maybe because our photo session took longer than it should. On the plus side, it was really interesting were the ginko bilboa seeds, also skewered and grilled.
On the beverage department, I liked the Matcha Milk Smoothie, which you can mistake for avocado ice cream, the expected herby aftertaste was almost near zero. And my order of Watermelon Shake was also a stand out. Now that’s what I call genuinely refreshing.
We finished the meal with vanilla ice cream sandwiched by chocolate and vanilla sponge cake with mochi. It was a simple dessert that successfully fulfilled what a good dessert’s expected to do.
End the meal. Satisfyingly.

A friday well spent at ICHO! I was overwhelmed with the dishes they served us. The Kani Salad ( ₱ 235) was very refreshing! The sweetness of the mango and sourness of the tomatoes along with the lettuce is a perfect combo. I think I had more than I should haha! The Aburi Foie Gras ( ₱ 250) was so nice, it has that smokey flavor. It was luscious, kind of melt in your mouth. The Robata Platter is advisable for sharing. My favorite is the wagyu, it was so soft!
Icho is found in the tail end of Annapolis close to EDSA. They have parking at the back of the restaurant as well as a parking lot closer to EDSA.
The menu is diverse with some dishes you don't see in other Jap restaurant. The dish prices range from reasonable to the more expensive side. So better to study the menu and pick whatever suits your budget.
Tempura Moriawase (Mixed tempura) - Php450 - Light crispy tempura batter. Ours had 3 pieces of shrimps then 1 piece each of asuhos (fish), sliced onion, carrot and sweet potato.
Kamo Nanban Udon - sliced duck breast in a light soy broth with udon noodles. Nicely balanced flavors. Recommended!
Salmon Teppanyaki - 3 pieces of salmon fillet cooked with garlic, soy sauce and butter. Maybe they could undercook it a little.
Alligator Roll - Php250 - Shrimp tempura, eel, crabstick, avocado and fish roe. Skip the usual California Roll and go for this one. This is a must-try!
Ichō Roll - Php260 - my favorite maki roll! Shrimp tempura, crabsticks and lost of ebiko caviar! You have to order this!
Spicy Tofu Forai - Php220 - deep fried tofu with a spicy miso paste. Served over salad greens. Great for tofu lovers!
Sashimi Goshu Mori - 5 kinds of fresh sashimi selection 🐟🐠🐡
Hiroshima Kaki Motoyaki - baked oysters with creamy Motoyaki sauce 🧀 Must Try!
Salmon Saikyo Miso - salmon with sweet miso paste 🍣 the salmon just melts in your mouth!
Foie Gras Aburi Sushi - lightly broiled goose liver with a balsamic teriyaki sauce ,🦆 rich yet delicate. The foie gras just tastes like heaven!
Spicy Tuna Salad - spicy fresh tuna tartar served with mixed greens 🐟🌶️
At a reasonable price you get to have sumptouos Japanese meals here at ICHO JAPANESE RESTAURANT.
Here are some of the delectable dishes we have tried:
SASHMI GORU MORI (5 Kinds of Sashimi) 5/5
- one of the most affordable priced mixed sashimi I ever had.
SPICY TUNA SALAD 4/5
- the spiciness of this dish really bursts in my mouth, a little over the spicy level I can taste but it was good.
KANI SALAD 4/5
- kani salad will always be one of my favorites.
HIROSHIMA KAKI MOTOYAKI (Baked Oysters) 5/5
- this has been the best baked oyster I ever had! It was creamy, cheesy and tasty!!!
SALMON SAIKYO MISO ABURI 4/5
- I like the smoky taste that it has.
FOIE GRAS ABURI 5/5
- this is just so tasty, delicious and luxurious.
ICHO ROLL 4/5
- the most affordable rolls and you will definitely get full with this dish.
CHEF'S SPECIAL NABE HOT POT 5/5
- i really like how simple this hot pot is. They said the soup is a little bland but I find it just fine and balanced.
ROBATA PLATTER 4/5
- interesting platter with real ginko biloba, wagyu cubes melts in your mouth, mushroom is juicy, chickwn wings is simply seasoned and other meat are cooked just right.
VANILLA ICE CREAM SANDWICH 4/5
- just me being a kid, eating cake with ice cream.
And refreshing drinks:
ICHO ICED TEA 4/5
- refreshing citrus blend iced tea
MATCHA MILK SMOOTHIE 4/5
- matcha lover will agree with me in this one, and I like it that it is not too sweet.
RIPE MANGO SHAKE 4/5
- refreshing ripe mango freshly made with real fruit.
WATERMELON SHAKE 4/5
- refreshing shake with real watermelon fruit.
We would definitely come back to this place for more.
The place is also so spacious, well lighted and super spic and span. The simple and crisp design gives you the real Japanese ambiance.
The staffs are so accommodating and quick too.
Also we want to thank Chef Enrico for the wonderful experience.

Located along the busy Annapolis Street, no more than a minute’s ride after turning right from the traffic-infested EDSA is a haven for Japanese food lovers. ICHO Japanese Restaurant is named after the gingko trees in Japan. Known to be highly resilient as they can withstand pollution and salt in their native environment, they also beautify their surroundings and as well as provide nourishment and medicinal benefits.
We love the ambience of the restaurant. Love how accomodating the waiters n waitresses and Food was really awesome. We had a very good dinner. We ordered a lot too..
First time trying ICHO and will definitely be going back again! Everything was of good quality and flavor. Wagyu was also the real deal! I felt like I was back in Japan. HAHAHAH
The price of the food is more expensive than usual but the portions are bigger. The California Maki looks big and good, the icho roll was also good with panko and tobiko sprinkled over each piece although I want expecting the kani to have wasabi infused in it. The sukiyaki was also good and the size was big but couldn't used more ingredients.
Good ambiance. Good quality sushi and sashimi. A new addition to "the best japanese restaurants in Manila". It gets crowded during weekends especially Sundays. You need to get a reservation unless you're okay to dine at the counters. Goes to show that this place really has the good stuff.

I heard this is same owner of Choi Garden Restaurant, the expetations were set high! They serve modern inspired japanese food, and like best the oysters on spoos. Their tempura is also good. Servings are a bit small and pricey for me. But you would see this place packed night after night after night.
Icho is one of the "legit" japanese restaurant in the san juan area. They serve fresh sashimis. A good selection of rolls. I like their ribeye teppanyaki. Great for family gatherings.
Greenhills area lacks good japanese restaurants and icho fills this void. Thanks!
They have front and rear parking, but still not enough since there are just too many patrons. It would be best to come early or to have reservations. Service of both wait staff and kitchen staff are fast, but diners usually take their sweet time eating and chatting so you're in for a wait if you come In late and have no reservations. I'd say a good 20 to 30 minutes, but the food is worth it. You should order the Icho Roll, it's a meal on it's own, but if you're a heavy eater like me, you can breeze right through it. So I had the Chicken Teriyaki Jyu, which comes with Miso Soup. I also had Futo Maki. I definitely have to come back. By the way, they have two menu, the white and red one. I ordered from the White, the Red one is meat and I think the more expensive of the two, which I'm definitely trying on my next visit. I was in a hurry this time so no pictures 🤗
Passing by this everytime I go home, makes me wonder how come there are alot of vehicles parked around it. Despite the not so good location, it gave me an impression that customers really go here. Finally, I got to try it on a lunch time. I must say, now I understand why people do come. Food is great! a little expensive, but you can really feel and taste the quality of the food; which you are paying for. Most legit Wasabi we have ever tasted. just a bit of it still kicks. so beware. I must say, you should go for their sashimis and sushis. Its really fresh.
Place/staff: When we arrived here, they were in the process of opening it again since they close during the afternoon. Place was big and cozy with typical japanese designs.. Staff were unfriendly, and service is a bit on the slow side.
Food: Icho roll was really good and contains shrimp, egg, crabsticks and some more.. Salmon sashimi was fresh and yummy. Kobatayaki beef was bland, and pork had too much fat.. Usuyaki beef was very good too especially with mushroom stuffed into it but it was a bit oily. California roll was typical.
Friendly staff. Clean. Very good food. Has vegetarian options. Reasonable prices. The menu is quite varied. Restroom well maintained.
My friends and I had a lovely time.
Parking may become an issue if the place is full. Highly recommended.
Knew about Ichō opening last April, but wanted to give it more time before giving it a try. Tonight since it was a holiday, traveling to Makati to GH wasn’t an issue.
First thing that caught my attention was the decor. Simple, clean and has the authentic Japanese ambiance to complete the theme. The attention to detail was on point.
Food is diverse, from various appetizers, sushi, sashimi, ramen, yakitori, tempura, hot pot, Katsu, wagyu and noodles. If you’re craving it, they most likely have it. In fact, I need to go back a few more times if I’m in the area to try the others dishes.
The flavors of each dish ordered is straight to the point Japanese. There’s no twist and frills on what they serve and it was fresh and appetizing.
Service was decent since there were hardly any diners due to being an early dinner. Overall, a great experience and a place worth revisiting.
Very good food. Well prepared. Presentation. Quality. Service could use a little bit of hastening but just a tad. A truly nice dinner. Havent had a good one in a long time. Seared tuna. Spicy salmon salad. Mushroom seafood soup. Maki roll with angus beef and tempura. Agadeshi tofu was perfectly crunchy outside and tender inside.
Today's lunch includes our must-haves in every Japanese restaurant— Spicy Tuna Salad and Salmon Sashimi.
Unlike the usual Spicy Tuna salads which include chunks of diced Tuna Sashimi in a spicy mayonnaise-based sauce, theirs comes in a crunchy shell, much like a taco. 🌮 It has the right amount of spiciness this time— a pleasant kind of burn that isn't overpowering.
The salmon Sashimi, on the other hand, was fresh and you can really tell from the firm, springy consistency it has. Plus, they give it to you in thick slices, making it worth the price you pay. ❤️ Make it even better by adding a spritz of lemon directly on the fish, or even in the wasabi and soy sauce dipping sauce to make the Sashimi so much yummier. 😋
Loving the ambiance of the place too. It's well-lit, making it perfect for taking photos of your food. This photo I took didn't need filters, and it already looked that good. Service was great— staff were efficient in giving us our orders, and accommodating with our constant requests for tea refills.
Parking here may be a bit difficult, so I suggest going earlier or after peak hours. You can also opt to ride together with friends or just commute going there. It's located in Annapolis street, just before turning into EDSA.
I love how R's parents are always on the lookout for new restaurants to try. They're awesome foodies who would often discover gems in the city that are outside my radar. And one of the restaurants they stumbled upon was ICHŌ Japanese Restaurant. . Hello, ICHŌ Japanese Restaurant. . Located along the busy Annapolis near Greenhills Shopping Center, ICHŌ is a stand alone restaurant that took the place of a former Chinese restaurant.
I was hesitant to try out ICHO after seeing some of the reviews online, but the food was worth the price! The servings of the sushi were larger than expected.
The selling point of the restaurant though has to be the ambiance — the place was new and clean, well-lit, and it really seemed like an authentic Japanese experience. There was a sushi bar area, regular tables, private rooms, and even some traditional-style tables where you can take off your shoes to sit. There’s a lot of parking available at the back for guests, too.
Our new go to Japanese restaurant in Greenhills.
So far food is good but a little bit pricey. Hope they’ll maintain the quality.
More details soon.
I strongly recommend the Surf and Turf roll, and saikoro. These dishes were very tasty and easy to consume. I had a hard time choosing between the Gindara, Sea bass and Hamachi since they were all best-sellers. I ended up getting the Gindara and I can say that it didn’t disappoint. We followed up with the Hamachi jaw since the dishes weren’t that filling. It lacked flavor and was also pretty expensive. Their Gyoza was too light.
The ambiance was great so we stayed a little longer than our typical meal duration. It’s the perfect setting to have a quality conversation. Although it was a bit pricey, I would definitely come back.
Its our first time dining in ICHO. Everything is okay. The food serving is generous. The price is reasonable. The ambience is pleasant. The sashimi and sushi is great. ^^
Though only in their soft opening, there's a good selection of sashimi and sushi to choose from. I particularly liked the Surf and Turf Roll which have a good serving size and very tasty Wagyu Beef.
Only suggestion is to add more description on your menu to help customer choose better especially on the sashimi types included on the packages.
