Their crispy california maki was really good! I really love it! I really recommend to try that one. Also their ramen tastes really good for a very affordable price. Ang mura lng ng foods nila pero masarap. 👍
Intrigued by how authentic & affordable this place is as indicated in their menu and posters, we finally had our first meal here.
We weren't looking for anything heavy as we weren't so hungry that time for dinner. (We already had alot during the day.)
We had their Overload California Roll. One serving already gives 8 pcs of the usual California Maki Roll with tuna salad as its topping. The serving took awhile but we thought it was worth it. (So long serving time should be noted our next visit.)
It was freshly made and delicious. We didnt expect the tuna salad topping to be crunchy and a really good complement to the roll.
We would recommend this Overload California Roll just for P200. 👍
Next time, we'll go for their ramen and other dishes to have a better review of their food.
This place deserves better reviews. I was so satisfied to the point that I went out on a leg just to give them a good review. I don't understand those complaining about the ramen - it was VERY good. The spiciness was there, noodle consistency just right. Their spicy beef was VERY tender. Seafood rice tasted light - in a good way. Sashimi salad was also good. What impressed me the most was how they managed to put a lot of flavor into their dishes, without coming off as salty. Even better - their servings are appropriately sized (even for a huge eater like me), and very well priced. Place was neat and tidy. Water was clean and so were the utensils. For someone who has lived beside maginhawa all his life, this place has my gratuitous approval! 🙂☺
Dined here yesterday, on a Sunday afternoon and I was disappointed to know that all of their sushi rolls (except the Califonia Maki) were out of stock. So we ordered 2 different kinds of ramen, gyu-don, katsu curry rice and spicy beef lunch set.
The Gekikara Ramen was good enough, considering the price. It wasn't as spicy as they initially made us believe. The noodles weren't as firm like in other well-known ramen restos, but it is satisfactory for the price. It's one of the things that you would love to eat on a chilly weather if you are on a budget. The Chashu Tantanmen was okay, the pork slices were really tender but the soup was nothing remarkable.
The gyudon was such a disappointment. It tasted too sweet for my liking and the egg was overcooked. The katsu curry and the spicy beef tasted okay given the price point, but I think there are better-tasting katsu with the same price points out there.
Service was fast, but we came here at around 3pm. I'm not sure if service will be similar during peak hours.
After church we went start to Maginhawa to take our lunch. We ordered Katsu Don (Donburi), Bento Katsu and Chasu Ramen. Food is tastey but its is kinda pricey. The staffs are accomodating.
I wanted to have a simple and cheap ramen after a rainy weekend so my sister and I found ourselves in this joint. Because it was mid-afternoon, the place was sparsely staffed and service took longer than usual (but the attendant was still courteous. We ordered the small tonkotsu ramen, ika ring age (squid) bento, gyoza and matcha ice cream.
Tonkotsu Ramen - it was flavorful though I wish it had more of the toppings. Maybe if I ordered the bigger bowl... It was okay. Not as good as ramen nagi but not bad either.
Ika Ring Age Bento - The squid was cooked just right. It was good as well but nothing to rave about.
Gyoza - they held together (which is more than I could say for many restaurants that always mangle these dumplings and the skin is soggy and apart. They were savory and firm here, just the way I like them.
Matcha Ice cream - I'm not a fan of matcha because the tea flavor overpowers the ice cream but my sister likes this just fine so I guess it's a plus. I would come here again but with the other unique offerings of Maginhawa, it may not be my first choice. It has potential though, and the prices are very reasonable.
If you're looking/craving for Japanese food with huge serving but affordable price, Takeiya is the place to be! All their sushi/maki/rolls were very tasty, especially the Crazy Maki. Kani Salad is another favorite. Huge serving, very flavorful and super affordable.
What we ordered:
Crazy roll - it was good and tasty.
Ramen - it was fine
Tempura - also good
Curry - also good
Chicken cordon bleu - it wasn't what I expected and too matigas.
No wifi
They have a parking space.
Lovely place, attentive staff, delicious food (I've only tasted their bento meals and their rolls though. I'm not yet sure about their ramens). Cheap compared to other Japanese Restos. I especially liked their Overload Roll.
cravings satisfied! their crispy california maki is the best! and the sashime here is addicting. definitely we will be back here soon. #happytummy #happykid
