Date of visit: January 2020

I dined here with my hubby during one of our grocery trip days. I can't remember the exact dish that I ordered but it was a chicken yakitori dish. Simple but tasty food. And it's really affordable. The place is small with only a few seats available but the ambiance is nice. I like its whole theme. I'll definitely go back and try their other meals.

Important Points:
- This is one good spot for Jap Food lovers.
- Their branch is kinda open-Japanese-Themed having an open-kitchen available for viewers. The place is small yet Ventilation is fine.
- Definitely try the ⭐️ food above.
- The colorful ape murals inside the resto is kinda artsy (instagrammable)
- Really love their sushi especially the Crunchy Tempura. ❤️
- If you will order an Udon, better to eat it before it gets cold and becomes a fatty-noodled soup.
- Free soup and water is available. But you can buy some bottled drinks also (Softdrinks, beer, Sake)
- Bring your own lunch box for take out meals to get 10% OFF.
- Environment-friendly resto (No plastics, and receipts are sent through emails)

Grillin Ape opened last November 28, 2019, as the new food establishment to serve those Japanese cravings, they're specializing with Yakitori and Udon. It's located on the 3rd floor of Eastwood Cybermall. . Once you enter the stall you'll notice the colorful murals and banners. It was said that it was the owner's friend who designed the place. I love the colors, I wish I was that artistic. LOL

Could do believe that even though my number one favorite cuisine in the whole wide world is Japanese and that I have been travelling since 2009 that I have never been to the Land of the Rising Sun? One of my dream destinations is definitely Japan. I have always envisaged about the things that I would do when I go there.

Decent place to dine in at Eastwood. Specially when you're craving for a yakitori bowls and tired of usual fastfood. The meat on the grills are tender and easy to munch. Nice rice servings too if you're a rice person. I liked their lava cake, it's kind of like a big california maki. The tempura sushi is a must have as well. Grilled banana is so subtle and blends perfect with caramel. Location wise it is neat with nice mural art and Japanese Street vibe. Worth for its price.😊

There are no cooking primates here nor do they serve any simian meat. Grillin’ Ape is a newly-opened eatery specializing in Yakitori with a highly-interesting brand name.

Let’s talk about their Yakitori. Grillin’Ape is just so ready to accommodate big groups with their Yakitori Big Bowl with 20 sticks of pork belly, chicken fillet, quail eggs, pork meatballs, liver wrapped in bacon with rice drowning in Teriyaki Sauce. The bowl can feed a barkada of four to five famished monkeys, er, men and women.

There is also Sushi Rolls and we were served four: Mango Kani, Spicy Tuna Lava, Tempura Caviar Overload and my favorite, Crunchy Tempura.

We ended the meal with the Banana Ape (caramelized banana with vanilla ice cream) and the Grilled Banana (grilled skewered bananas with caramel sauce) and both were playfully good. But I liked the Grilled Banana better.

And yes, I forgot to mention how I fell in love with the Kirei Peach Sake. Sweet and light, no better than served chilled. It’s a bit pricey but it’s worth it. Congratulations and good luck, Grillin’ Ap

The ambiance is so Japaneesy. The ape murals were so artistic. The place is small. There's an open kitchen so you can see how they grill the food, how they prepare it, and so on.

We got to try some of the dishes they are offering:Lava Donut (P230.00) - is a big chunk of sushi in a form of donut topped with Yuzu Kyozu Mayo, Mozarella Cheese, Egg, and tempura. I recommend it. Just by looking at it, you'll see how gooey and cheesy it is.

Chicken Liver wrapped in Grilled Bacon (P80.00/3 pcs) - no other words to describe but delicious (and tender). My only concern is the consistency of grilling it because the other parts were just burned too much.

Rice meals are available and I suggest you go for the Yakitori Bowls if you like different combinations of Yakitori to pair with rice.

I also love the Shrimp Kani Roll. As I said before, their cheesy/goeey Yuzu Kyozu Mayo made it tatsy and exciting to eat. The seafood taste was also there so it's a plus. The roll with bits of nori wraps was somehow okay (maybe because the kani roll stood out for me) but to be honest, these rolls were not dry and I didn't look for soy sauce/wasabi to flavor it up because it's tasty already. The flavor is there already so what more do I have to look for?

We also tried the Bacon Udon. It was on the 'not too sweet' side, just right while it's hot. I'm not a fan of soup with super thick noodles like.

For a sweet ending, we tried the Grilled Banana. It gives a slightly smoky flavor while giving a sweet taste due to the sauce that's drizzled on it.

Price range is on the affordable side. The Chicken Liver wrapped in Grilled Bacon is just P80.00/3 pcs with a remarkable juicy smoky taste. The looks (ambiance) might tell you it's expensive but at least glance at their menu and see how the price range is budget friendly.

The room for improvement would be the ventilation as it gets hot during our stay.

the tempura sushi donut was plate-lickin’ good and so was the crunchy shrimp kani roll. there was no need for soy sauce and wasabi as they concocted a delightful special sauce to complement the jap roll
.

Filipinos have a heart for food and they are very welcoming with Japanese flavors. So when a new restaurant opened in Eastwood, we cannot help but start craving for more. This new Japanese restaurant that will fire your meals is called Grillin’ Ape. Grillin’ Ape opened last November 25, but it is already winning the hearts of people, food lover or not. It can be found at Eastwood Cybermall Level 3, Bagumbayan, Quezon City. The restaurant is accessible to many so location is a plus.

Looking for a place with affordable and yummy eats just within Eastwood Mall? Then you'll definitely go bananas over this new Japanese dining concept called Grillin Ape! 🐵

From Sushi Donuts to their Yakitori— a large bowl filled with Japanese rice and tons of skewered meats to choose from that's fit for a gorilla's appetite, 🦍 Grillin Ape offers many choices for everyone. Plus, they make sure to use good quality Japanese rice and ingredients. And as a treat, each rice bowl comes with Dashi broth— a warm and lovely alternative to Miso soup.

Highlights include their:
🍢 Yakitori Set Meal (₱599): comes with 4 cups of rice and chicken karaage, plus skewers like Chicken Liver & Bacon, Pork Belly, Chicken Meatball with Quail Eggs and Corn. Meats are all tender, and you must try their Chicken liver and bacon combo. It's something you can't get anywhere else!
🍣 Crunchy Tempura (₱150): spicy and creamy combo with bold flavors. Comes with a crispy mix of tempura bits and aburi sauce on top.
🍣 Mango Kani (₱130): mangoes, crabsticks and cucumber all rolled together, just like a California Maki.
🍣 Tempura Caviar Overload (₱160): crunchy bites of shrimp plus sweet and salty teriyaki sauce.
🍣 Spicy Tuna Lava (₱150): spicy and creamy roll with diced tuna sashimi.
🥯 Lava Donut (₱230): features tempura, egg, Kyozu Mayo and mozzarella cheese on vinegared sushi rice. Creamy and cheesy— my favorite combo yet!
🍜 Bacon Udon (₱180): a twist to the classic and their newest menu yet! This one features a sweet broth and bites of salty bacon to go with soft noodles.
🍌 Grilled Banana (₱40): slices of banana with a nice char. Comes with a drizzle of caramel and sugar.

Visit them at the 3/F Food Court in Eastwood Cybermall, Quezon City. Ooh ooh ahh ahh! 🐵 Thanks for having me! ❤️
