The coffee (I had a plain latte and a regular black coffee) was tasty, and locally sourced (from Sagada, near Bagiuo, I believe), and the oatmeal orange cookie was delicious. Staff was friendly, the atmosphere was artsy and cordial, the playlist was inspired, and service was excellent--great place for a writer to while away an afternoon. My only regret is that I didn't pick up a bag of beans, but I'll pick some up next time. I've only been in Quezon City for a week; SGD Coffee Bodega has been on my list of places to try out since before I even moved to Pilipinas, and I was not disappointed.
Awesome place, best tasting coffee and delicious chicken tocino. Would come back again. Angelo was very kind and accomodating. :)
Quite a hidden gem in Quezon City. I would selfishly keep it that way.
Great service, very good coffee, and nice food choices too.
SGD Coffee is a cozy coffee shop in Maalalahanin St. (Teachers Village) that serves fine coffee and affordable Filipino meals. Their location is a quiet residential area so it's a great place for a solo time, catching up with friends, and/or working/studying.
You can be assured that you're getting high-quality coffee here because they recently won in the 3rd International Contest of Coffees Roasted in their Country of Origin held in Paris. If you are extra passionate about coffee, you can also enroll in their Coffee Workshop.
Awesome place to hang out with friends. I felt the passion they pour in every cup of coffee they serve. The yoghurt is also a must try! Nice interiors too.
The place is a welcome respite from the chaos of Quezon City. It transports you to a totally different and unfamiliar place, yet makes you feel right at home. Once the food and coffee is served, everything else feels like the warmth and rich traditions of the great Northern Cordillera people.
It's all about heritage and Filipino pride for our indigenous farmers -- truly a cafe that tugs at your heart.
The Bodega definitely feels like family.
SGD is a labor of love, a testament to undying faith and great pride in culture, family and oneness with nature. It continues to flourish despite the selfish actions against it (by neighbors). SGD is not just a place, it's an experience!
My first time today to taste SGD coffee and it is truly world class! The first local coffee that is on par with the best imported Espresso blend. Congrats Rich and Margaret for making an outstanding local product world class and never stop your passion and advocacy with the farmers. Salud!
#supportyourlocalcoffeeshop nice place, quiet enough..friendly staff. Will be back :)
If you're a coffee aficionado this place is a must try.
A common ground for all those connected to coffee. The perfect venue to learn, relax, and enjoy.
P.S. thank you for another gem here in the North! <3

Great place! Great food! Great people! Great coffee!
Sobrang sarap ng kape dito.. grabe ang pogi pa nung nagtitinda... d best to..
Great coffee! Nice ambiance, and cheers for the smoking area in the back :)
Pleasantly surpised. Didn't know this place until we searched for coffee shops near UP. Wanted to try something different.
Food: 5/5 Got the French toast while my siings got the champorado and the Egg On Toast. Check ang plating. Check ang lasa. Check lahat. 😊👏
Ambiance: 5/5 Simple lang ang interiors pero cozy. Ang saya dahil may parking space sila sa harap (mahirap humanap ng parking sa Teacher's Village). They also have a room for Basic Barista classes. Will most likely go back to try them out.
Service: 4.8/5 I asked a few questions about the shop and they staff was polite enough to answer them (dahil medyo makukit yung tanong ko). Food didn't take long to come (we were there around 8:30ish, tapos wala pa masyado tao)

I like the ambiance. It's peaceful, clean, spacious and has private or function room on the 2nd floor. Crew is courteous enough to answer my questions about their "SGD" came from and the "best seller selections with good explanation and all. Very good place to set meetings and to study. :) 👍
Ambience - hipster? Yes, but also mellow, chill and relaxing. Wooden furniture and eclectic music beckons to the mostly student/ creative patrons hanging out, acting blase while sipping their flat whites.
I doubt you can go wrong with any order. The etag carbonara was simple, unadulterated with those bits of smoked native meat providing a flavor and texture contrast to the smooth sauce and pasta. A hint of lemon rounded out the dish well.
Chicken pesto salad was also a winner, that homemade bread is worth its weight in gold (you can also order a loaf to take home. Pricey but worth every cent).
If you can only order one thing - get the All meat pizza, I'm still dreaming of it today. Perfectly baked crust, cheese, sauce and meat almost indistinguishable from each other, topped with an (arugula?) leaf to finish strong.
For dessert, try the lengua de nata, or the crumby, chewy choco chip cookie. Have it warmed for the best experience. And of course, have it with one of their signature brews.
That's a formula for a perfect day, right there.
They also offer sensory and roast workshops for aficionados.
A quiet, hidden gem in the Maginhawa area. The place is homey and cozy. A great place to hang alone or with your significant other. We ordered the affogato and SGD black. Beverages we ordered were good, straightforward good quality coffee. Will go back next time to try their food.
We arrived early in Metro Manila and needed a place to have breakfast with a good cup of coffee. It's a great thing that they open early! :)
Coffee is 🙌
Also, their rice meals are really filling. Is it because it's red rice? Would recommend this place if you are nearby!
An ideal place for hanging out with friends or loved ones. I really appreciate that they serve locally-made food and their drinks are great. Would totally go back.
Quiet and accessible from Maginhawa. Been trying to look for places where I can read in peace, and this is perfect for it. Coffee’s excellent and the pastries are ok
I love their food. This hidden gem provides a twist to the local flavors. I've been here twice and I wasn't disappoi ted in both occasions. We ordered longganisa rice, and adobo rice. On the second visit, we got their fried chicken and pesto pasta. Their coffee is also good. The place has 2 flights of cafe space and 4 parking slots.
My only concern is that it gets extra warm in the afternoon and the aircon wasn't enough to keep us cool. We had to leave after a while because the heat was a bit uncomfortable.
Amazing place. Reminds me of Al fresco dining. The view is just fantastic! Food was equally delish. The rice was from the highlands, and it was filling. The adobo was drenched in coffee sauce, which complemented the spicy savory taste. The coffee was also brewed just right, not burnt, not acidic, just enough to wake up your senses
I need to grab some food before heading to Dapitan arcade. SGD opens as early as 8 am.
PLACE- 4 OUT OF 5 STARS
The place is well ventilated and is spacious enough. They have a large window for natural light.
SERVICE - 4 out of 5 STARS
The one in charge of taking the orders is a bit seroius but she answered all my querries on what should I order.
FOOD - 4 out of 5 stars
SGD Omellette
SGD Lemonade
Capuccino
The omellete was delicious and it really complemeted the bread that it was served with. The cappucino was okay, the Barista told me that I should order SGD Black coffee since it is their best seller. If you're going to visit SGD coffee and you're not a coffee drinker, you should get the SGD lemonade. It is my new fave.
INSTAGRAMMABLE - 3 out of 5 stars
Though the place was well lit and you can take good photos of your food. The interoir of the place is a bit dated.
SERVING TIME - 3 out of 5 stars
Since the one in charge of taking the orders is also their barista, I waited for my coffee a bit longer. Though it is okay since she got the order pa from other customers and I'm not in a hurry naman.
Lovely coffeehouse tucked away in a residential area.
Besides strong local coffee, SGD Coffee Bodega serves tasty and hearty breakfasts. We had Chicken Tocino, pleasantly soft and fresh, and not like the over-processed tocino we get elsewhere. Paired with 2 eggs, vegetable side and healthy black mountain rice.
Sagada Omelette with 3 eggs, choice veggies and country bread toast was good too.
I miss going to this place. I was here during my last days of reviewing for med boards. The people were very nice. On my first day, they gave me a free donut fresh from the oven. It was soft and warm both to the mouth and heart, hehe. I was so stressed during those days, I just find comfort in coffee and food. I remember ordering inadobo sa kape. It was unique and it was really good. I also had the affogato, loved it! But what I cannot forget is the longganisa, it was totally different from what Im accustomed to, so savoury, herb-y, garlicky, im at lost for words to describe it. I hope to go back one day and have that longganisa again.
I've never had affogato done so right before! This place is a study on control and restraint in a sea of chain coffee shops that err on the side inundating customers with too many mediocre options. Just a handful of beverage options done exceptionally well, with just the right amount of playful tweaks on familiar dishes to put a subtle smile on the corner of your mouth. All this in the pretention-free, motown/old school soul and r&b laden atmosphere of a tastefully redecorated mid-century modern house in a tucked away corner of Teachers Village.
I was able to eat here because my cousin loves this place and this is where we used to meet when planning for my wedding. This restaurant tucked in a quiet neighborhood serves innovative Filipino food with ingredients coming from the restaurant’s patronized farms. I’ve tried their danggit and it’s really good! Whenever I visit the place, there are usually students studying. More than serving good food, this must be a conducive spot for meeting and studying.
My husband brought me here because he really liked the coffee when he and his friends were here.
Taste/Food - the food was fantastic and I loved how they tried to innovate traditional Filipino fare. We ordered Inadobo sa Kape and I loved how they were able to subtly infuse coffee flavor in the adobo which had very tender and moist meat. They also had Longganisa which they said was homemade. It’s a bit dry compared to what you would usually get in the market but it’s all meat, not fatty like other longganisas. We added P30 to our meal to get SGD coffee and SGD lemonade. It was really good coffee! Take it black to fully appreciate the flavor. The lemonade also tasted fresh, not powdered. The orange oatmeal cookie had good flavor but was dry and kind of tough.
Service - staff were friendly and food service was pretty fast.
Place - i love the simplicity of their interiors. It was also relatively quiet, unlike other cafes/restos where you have to raise your voice to talk with the person you’re with. It’s a good place to hangout for some conversation with friends.
What I had:
Sagada Coffee and the Yogurt with Bugnay jam
What I Liked:
It’s the perfect combination! Just don't put any sugar or cream in your coffee, cos it matches well with the sweetness of the jam embedded in the sour yogurt. ☺️
Being so much in love with Sagada, I am in awe of this resto. The warmth and the coziness of the place makes you feel that it's cold outside, as if you're actually in Mountain Province!
SGD Yogurt reminded me so much of the quaint and quiet cafes of Sagada. The Lemon Square made me miss the authentic Lemon Pie. I also liked their Revel Bar.
Though I haven't had any ice cream in Sagada, I tried their SGD Ice Cream. It was too small for the price.
I would definitely dine here again if I would crave for Sagada food but wouldn't have the luxury or time to travel.
OVERALL: Ambiance 5/5, Food 4/5, Drinks 3/5, Price 2/5, Service 4/5
AMBIANCE: It's just a perfect spot for what I was looking for, a well-lit and very comfy place to work and study. It has big windows, very spacious and it's quiet outside as it is a residential area with only few vehicles passing by.
DRINKS: I'm not coffee enthusiast but I tried their Flat Coffee Latte (iced) and Cappuccino (hot). Both taste ok for me. But it won't make me start loving coffee. I also tried the Lemonade and Brewed Iced Tea. I like those better than the coffee but still no extraordinary taste for me. They have free service water and I love water so that raised my rating 😄
FOOD: Tried Chicken Pesto, Etag Carbonara and Orange Oatmeal Cookie. Pesto is my favorite pasta flavor and this one, I can say, is one of the best pesto I've tried. Etag Carbonara is best seller according to them but I prefer the pesto. Carbonara is not the ordinary taste and they make point for it! For the cookie, it's just a bit sweet for me.
RECOMMENDED: Chicken Pesto
PRICE: Overall, they sell at very high price considering the amount of servings. Their coffee worth 150 is just less than a cup, even smaller than the smallest size in starbucks. For their food, it's acceptable I think.
SERVICE: accommodating but one time, the staff punched the wrong order and I just knew it when they already served it. I told them it's not my order and they are considerate but not the one I initially talked to. She didn't clearly respond and just went somewhere which I just knew in the end that she is looking for someone to talk to me, I think someone like a supervisor. But I can still rate them high as they also have available outlets and wifi is just with right speed. CR is very clean.
Great place if you're a coffee lover or if you want a place to study.
They pride themselves with serving high-quality coffee, so it goes without saying that they have delicious, strong coffee - not the typical kind that you will find in most coffee shops.
It's very spacious, quiet, and well-lit.
If you're looking for something to nibble on while enjoying your coffee, they also serve pastries.
They also have decent wifi.
I have been to this cafè thrice...yes!!! I love the place so much...it always has that "feeling at home"...love their Adobo sa Kape with Sagada coffee...fresh pesto pasta...highly recommended!!! Will keep on coming back..
I love the place/ambiance, that it has parking slots (limited) and with electric sockets all around.. My only suggestion is to add more items in the menu ☺️
Went here since I wanted to get away from busy maginhawa today to get some work done. I haven't even left this place yet as I am typing this but I feel like I have to give this place the thumbs up in deserves STAT.
The SGD black is the best coffee I've had in a long time (or ever?). Had the inadobo sa kape for lunch and I felt like I was transported somewhere else up in the mountains. Will try the other food offerings in the future but the coffee alone is more than enough reason to keep coming back!
This place is an absolute treasure!
I am doing intermittent fasting right now so I usually take a walk here first thing in the -morning or afternoon, whenever the hell I wake up. It is 5 minutes away from where I live so it is super convenient. I order their long black coffee-- hands down the best I have tried (just look at that crema!).
A lot of places do not give much importance to their black coffee. Sometimes, I feel like I am drinking a packet of nescafe when I order brewed coffee. It's this one place that reminds me that coffee is an experience. It's not to wake you up or to give you energy to hustle or to look cool (although it is all those things too).
Coffee is a very private moment with yourself. It is the melding of your soul and some dark matter that together moves the universe in alignment. At least, that's my working theory.
Alright, I am done attempting to describe beautiful things. This is too difficult a task.
Just try it. for yourself.

They serve really good coffee. Loved the flat white and affogato that we ordered. Our other companions had the cold brew and almond coffee. Strawberry ice cream was very very creamy, butter cake was moist. Wifi available, spotted a lot of students there. Sockets available for charging laptops and phones while enjoying coffee. Very beautiful wooden furniture by Sibol.
SGD Bodega feels like an ancestral home revamped specifically for coffee enthusiasts craving for quality Sagada flavors.
In my opinion, this is the ultimate neighborhood cafe! Tucked in the myriad of streets of Teachers Village, you'll come across great local coffee freshly made from handpicked Sagada beans rightfully served with the place's homey, laid-back feel. The baristas being so accommodating, friendly & open to share their craft is also a big plus!
Their signature SGD black (P120) has the ability to transport you to the cordilleras which made me feel quite nostalgic of my trip in Sagada two years ago. It's full-bodied with hints of berry! Kinapeng Adobo (P250) was an instant comfort food favorite! Its flavors were mild, meat was soft, well-cooked & it just had the right coffee tang to validate its uniqueness. Their Brewed Iced Tea (P120) also tasted unique & fresh but it was just a little too sweet for my own personal preference.
To add, I love that SGD Bodega advocates to grow our local coffee industry having a direct line to Sagada farmers where it sources its beans.
Overall, great place, great food & great coffee! Highly recommended for you to come visit!
Saturday morning after our shift, we usually find some cafe or resto where we can do a bible study. Good thing there's ZOMATO and we found SGD Coffee. Since we're adventurous, we do DIY.
How to get here?
From Philcoa, you ride a tricycle and just say to the driver "Manong number 45 maalalahanin po" then alam na nila yon.
Such a cozy place. Recommended for students and for amigas for catch up. Nagexpect lang ako na amoy coffee yung cafe.. since ang lakas ng hatal ng amoy kape kapag sa mga cafe..
We ordered Chicken Tonico, Etag Carbonara and Flat White. Kinda pricey, pero masarap. Hindi ko lang masyadong bet yung carbonara, I prefer creamy than oily. Masarap yung Chicken Tocino, big serving but good for 1 lang talaga. Tnry kasi namin ni BF magsharing pero kulang since matakaw kami. For coffee lovers, I recommend yung Flat White..
Staffs?
Super accommodating!!! Thumbs up.
SGD Coffee is one of my favorite hiding places in the Metro. This place has great food, a spacious and calm ambiance, ample wifi and sockets, great service, and fantastic award winning coffee. For a coffee drinker like myself, I cannot say that I've found a better cup of coffee than theirs within Metro Manila. Their SGD Black Coffee is enough to keep me running for long hours without the crazy palpitations. They put their advocacy for their coffee, its origins, and its farmers at the forefront of everything they do and this is what makes their place really special. They also have beautifully curated wooden furniture from Sibol Furniture that showcases great craftsmanship and true Filipino heritage. This place is dear to my heart and will always be somewhere I can go for dates with friends, to get work done, or just to treat myself. Keep up the good work SGD coffee!

After a particular hiccup with Momo, A and I went inside this cafe to cool down. We visited yesterday, 23 March 2018 around 2 PM.
PARKING:
💖 Spacious! It's inside a neighborhood so we had ample parking for our car.
ORDERED:
💖 SGD Black Coffee (P120): ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
- Very yummy. It's rich and with hints of berry. I ordered unsweetened and added my own Stevia. A tried this and almost drank half in one gulp. Nakakaloka. :D
💖 SGD Brewed Iced Tea (P120): ⭐️⭐️⭐️
- We both liked this, but I felt like it wasn't worth this price, since it tasted like Bon Chon's iced tea lang. Perhaps consider making it more affordable?
SERVICE:
💖 Warm & friendly crew who smiled at us during ordering.
💖 Self-service of water + condiments which was nice.
AMBIANCE:
💖 Yay for Wifi + sockets! You can work here. :)
🙋♀️ Please make a keto option - pork salad? :D
We’ll be back as soon as Momo's fever subsides.

I LOVED THE COFFEE I know I'm not supposed to be drinking coffee but.....The ambiance was great it's got that rustic and homey fell to it and the service they were polite the only reason why I gave them 4 stars instead of 5 is because 5 stars is heaven and it was not heaven close but not.My overall rating is 4 stars,AND REMEMBER THATS STILL A BIG DEAL
If you want a quiet place to work from, reflect all your life decisions, think about your mistakes and finish paperwork, I suggest you go here. Char.
It’s not in the “main roads” (Maginhawa, Malingap) so it’s super quiet.
The SGD Black is so good but if you like iced coffee, SGD Cold is for you. It’s so addicting, it’s like giving head charot!!!!
The interior is so chic and features amazing woodwork.
Not gonna lie, the coffee serving is small and it’s pricey. However, imagine the journey of the beans. From Sagada to Manila. Ain’t no joke, man. Sige nga ikaw ipa-luwas ka ng Maynila tapos gilingin ka, pakuluan, etc. Imagine the trauma. Charot!!!
Basta punta kayo.
We don't drink coffee so we ordered three of their desserts: their Revel Bar, Oatmeal Orange Cooke, and Oatmeal Choco Chip Cookie. All of them tasted great, especially the Oatmeal Choco Chip Cookie. Don't expect that it's your regular oatmeal cookie, it has a delightful twist in flavor and texture that I really like.
The place is very conducive for productivity. It's quiet and well-lit, plus everyone else is working on something. I love the tiny details too, like the broken plates for the desserts.
SGD Coffee looks like a cafe that can do no wrong, and I'd definitely want to come back to try their meals.
Food: their carbonara's really good. I also enjoyed the bugnay yoghurt. I'm not a coffee drinker so haven't tried their drinks.
Ambience: i really go here for the ambience! It's spacious and homey, and quiet. I get stressed out at other coffeeshops coz of the feel and crowd but this place feels sincere and down to earth if u get what i mean. It's a nice escape from the busier maginhawa shops too.
Service: the baristas are always nice and accomodating
Great ambiance. Awesome customer service and very delicious food esp the inadobo sa kape.
You'd want to visit Sagada again as you relive the experience here :)
Within the neighborhood of Teacher's Village you would be able to spot this quiet-looking coffee place.
🏖 AMBIENCE:
One would notice that most likely it is a house that was turned into a coffee shop. So expect the "homey" kind of feeling even before entering. Once you've stepped inside, you would immediately be greeted with the high-ceiling warm yet naturally lit interior. You would be able to see some coffee sacks that is lined-up going to the second floor of SGD as well.
🍽 FOOD & 🍹DRINKS:
Since I am not an intense coffee lover, basing from the opinion from people that I came with, they enjoyed the coffee that was served.
I must say that I enjoyed the SGD Yogurt w/ Bugnay Jam and also their rice meals that are available.
💆♂️ SERVICE:
Nice and polite service crews. I do really like the voice of one of their crew members. Haha! :D
🚳 PARKING:
it has ample parking space for 4-5 cars and some motorcycles.
🌏 OVERALL:
I would recommend this place for people who would like to have a quiet time especially when one would study/review.
Going al-fresco is not an option here though.
The ambiance of this place is relaxed and there is a hipster vibe to it. It also has a coffee lab upstairs where you can see how they roast and brew their coffee. They are a dedicated to keeping the culture of Coffee alive, they also help coffee farmers in Sagada.
The wait staff are courteous, attentive and nice.
I ordered SGD Cold coffee and Inadobo sa Kape. The Inadobo sa Kape was a pork dish, it was tender, it melts in your mouth kind of tender. It also had the sweet and bitter taste of the coffee.
The SGD Cold Coffee, is a gem, I would have this every time. It tasted like cherries, it was sweet, although I take my coffee usually black, it had a creamy foam that doesn't seem to mix with the coffee. Over all this is my favorite coffee. The brew and the roast perfectly captured what it's like to be on Sagada.
Place and Ambiance: The place is located on a small street and has very limited parking. The interior looks nice and seats were comfortable. Air conditioning could be better on the second floor, though. Plates and utensils were nice to use.
Service: The cashier / barista / waiter was nice and accommodating. He also kept a smile on his face while he was servicing us. The place is a self-service café (maybe because of the limited staff), so you get your own water, condiments, etc.
Food: I had the Kinapeng Adobo meal, and I must say it was very good! The coffee-flavored sauce of the adobo just works. The sauce is lightly flavored, but the flavor of coffee can be tasted evidently. It also compliments rather than overpower the adobo dish.
They had a generous serving of rice to go with it plus some diced tomatoes in pesto sauce (also delicious) on the side. Coffee was good.
Right now, I am sitting here content and satisfied, listening to the elevator music they have playing. Just after polishing off my meal of Adobe sa Kape and half of my daughter's Eta Carbonara.
Great food and you get value for your money. The quality of their ingredients is obvious in every bite, lick and smack.
I am really sorry that I am already full, otherwise I still would have had a coffee (SGD Cold) and tried their yogurt.

Coffee is astounding, not so bitter but full in body and flavor. You must try their lemon bar, its as if youve been to Sagada without going far the metro. You won't go wrong with this place. A hidden gem definitely.

One of the best places to chill and have coffee in Teachers Village. The place is really cozy; it gives you a slice of how it feels like to be in Sagada. Their food is good too! I highly recommend the Etag Carbonara, Longganisa, and ELT Sandwich!
Just WOW. Discovered this place by chance. Before even getting started with the coffee and the food. I just want to say how charmed I was with the place, even from the outside it was beautiful, they renovated an old house probably from the 70s or 80s into this beautiful antique house with the modern and classy rustic feel. In which they used for furniture many elegant wooden pieces. At the same time also incorporating a touch of Sagada into the cafe (the coffee beans and many of the ingredients of the food are from Sagada).
For the coffee, I won't say i'm learned in the art of fine coffee or appreciating it either but for some reason, I don't know if it was the place itself or the explanation by the barista on what I was actually drinking but I enjoyed every but of it. I got the SGD Black Coffee and the Flat White. I've been going to Starbucks for 6 years due to college and boards but when I drank the coffee here in SGD damn was it refreshing!! They also offer numerous classes on the art of coffee if a person is interested.
On to the food. WOW. I ate their for breakfast and got the Longanisa (no picture sorry) it had 2 eggs, 3 reasonable sizes of Longanisa, and a heaping serving of fresh and moist vegetables on the side, plus the rice. I was skeptical at first but when I tried the Longanisa I was like WOW. This wasn't like any Longanisa i've ever tried, not the oily type, this was minimally oily and had this clean and refreshing taste to it. This went very well with the veggies. No need for vinegar just enjoy. On to the pasta DAMN was it good (i'm a stickler for pasta since i've been to Italy twice) I can't begin to describe it. For the Carbonara they used Sagada yogurt and hell was it good not the usual Carbonara. For the Bolognese it was good also period. Only thing lacking was more noodles. BUT STILL WORTH IT. The pastries i've only tried the Lemon Square but damn was it good also.
Loved the ambiance, the coffee, the food, the free internet, the nice owner and baristas.
Probably lack an aircon on the second floor but whatever there are ceiling fans.
I shall be back.
I have officially found my perfect neighborhood coffee shop.
Along Maalalahanin st., parallel to the famous Malingap st., is the SGD Coffee BODEGA Roastery and Coffeehouse. Graveled parking is adequate: 5 vehicles maximum, I'd estimate. On the left sidewall is a black and white mural that's absolutely stunning.
Even before entering, you can see the many windows from the facade and the glass-wooden door. It's so inviting! Even more so when you actually enter. White walls enclose this spacious shop, black metal hangings and wooden furniture strategically scattered all around. According to a post on their official Facebook site, they use "a mix of recycled, reclaimed, and repurposed materials for its interiors; discarded wood cargo pallets, junkshop-quality GI sheets, and old wooden door jambs." The coffee bar I especially love. Because of the windows, you get amazing lighting in the room, a huge upgrade from the stereotypical dim lights of usual coffee shops. Let’s face it, it’s healthier (and feels better) to study/work in well-lit places.
Marty (was it?), the guy at the counter, was ready to entertain my questions in all aspects of the establishment, from food, to its' founding, and of course, the coffee itself.
SGD (from the word Sagada) partners with different farmers in Sagada to get the best beans and personally roasts them in Las Pinas. They pride themselves in roasting frequent, small batches (10-15kg is already a huge deal for them). I personally enjoy this as you will receive freshly brewed coffee from freshly roasted beans. I love the idea of it all as it gives the utmost respect to the farmers, the customers, and to the product itself.
Speaking of the coffee, they offer espresso based drinks. I tried the black, an Americano. The familiar rich, but mellow taste of Sagada made me smile. I can’t wait to try the others.
Another surprising thing I enjoyed very much was the dessert I paired my coffee with. Orange oatmeal cookies! 🍊🍪 Sugary oatmeal cookies with candied orange slices on top. I heard their other sweet treats are on demand (their revel bar in particular - as a certain customer comes all the way down from Paranaque to purchase it [As of March 11 - the revel bars really are good! I'm ordering another hahaha!]). So aside from the drinks, I’ll be exploring more of the food that they’ll offer (they have savoury dishes as well).
They also offer barista courses here! You'll notice their coffee cupping lab on the 2nd floor. Just inquire about the classes itself, schedule, and prices in the counter up front.
Fast facts:
✅Great coffee
✅Sweet treats
✅Comfy tables and chairs
✅Many sockets
