Seafood is very fresh and tasty. Salmon strips melts in your mouth. Taste and texture is very good. My only complaint with the place is the lack of good air conditioning, it was hot inside even at night.
Quality - 10/10
Service - 9/10
Value for money - 9/10
Ambience - 7/10 (it was too hot inside, please improve air conditioning)
try out the secret menu item 'spicy tuna maki (very cheap and tasty)'.
I would say that Sugi has been serving good Japanese food since time immemorial. Seriously, it has been there for a long time. And I did a revisit with a BFF, who is one of the conservative eater known to man. She's the type who would patronize a brand as long as she's happy. That was how I found myself with her in Sugi one dinner time. I'm glad we went.
My BFF had her Ebi Tempura and her steak and I, Salmon Cheese Maki. As expected, everything was in order even the dining staff did their thing as quietly as possible so as not to bother diners. One minor thing, though. I didn't so much like my friend's steak. For me, it was a tad leathery (but she was able to finish the whole thing).
Sugi has always been one of the go to Japanese restaurants that never fails to satisfy. My go to food here is the Katsu curry Bento. It has a generous serving of rice with tender pork cutlets with the thick and zesty curry on a gravy boat.
As a bento meal, it comes with the serving of potato salad, japanese pickles and hot soup.
The taste was on point, serving size was generous, and service was a delight.
Looking forward to come back!
