The lechon here is really something. Great bang for your buck. Not only is the skin so crispy but the meat inside is flavorful as well, you can really taste the lemongrass amd all the seasonings inside. Sobrang sulit! We didn’t really plan on eating here because we only went to film a documentary film for school but we ended up dining. The food is very good and affordable.
I haven't visited this place for quite a while. In fact, if I can still remember, the last time I ate here was almost two decades ago, when my parents used to bring me or my brother for a regular check-up at Chinese Gen. I felt quite nostalgic in an instant. The set-up is still the same, although kinda looks old, it was kept clean. Most of the diners were on groups, either families or Beer Buddies, and because it's Christmas Season, people keep on coming and the place was almost full in an instant. Every food attendant seems busy and tired, maybe that's why none of them wears a good smile, except for Miss Weng who enthusiastically approached me and gladly took my orders.
For dinner, I ordered a half kilo of Lechon, a Camto Soup, Fried Rice and a Soda. The Lechon is best paired with the liver sauce(sarsa) to make it more delicous. Others might find it bland, especially for those who likes Cebu Style lechon, but for me, it's just right. Their Sarsa is sweet, like no tinge of sour taste on it (which I loved). The skin is crunchy and surprisingly not too oily nor dry. The fat layer is too thin to none(as evidenced by the photo I took). The meat is soft, tender, and not salty(perfect for the sarsa). The Camto soup is quite bland, although you can add some patis to suit up your taste. The beef is very soft and tender, like it was pressure cooked for a half day, and the fried rice was okay.
Overall, the price is relatively cheap compared to other lechon houses in the metro. It's a place to enjoy Tagalog Style Lechon, so don't expect a salty one. The place is kinda old but clean. The service was fine, thanks to Miss Weng.
