The first spoonful of wu's fried rice transported me back to that favorite roadside hole in the wall restaurant that I visit whenever I am in SG. Couple that with tender meat from their roasted pork offerings made me crave for more of their signature dishes. I also had some of my favorite chinese dumplings which of course made me think about coming back for more espcially for their roasted duck.
i tried the place out for their custard bun / salted egg bun and it did not disappoint. however, a lot of the items were not available when we visited - lechon macau, roasted duck and funnily enough, coca cola.
The place was quite intimidating from the outside. Named after the owner's great grandfather—who happened to master all the recipes on their menu, Wu's kitchen is truly a haven exuberating traditional Mandarin flavors! Coupled by elegant lightings, walls enveloped by pictures of Shanghai, the atmosphere will surely delve you closer to Binondo. The space between tables ensures privacy while allowing diners to enjoy a glimpse of their spacious, glass-covered kitchen.
MENU
- The price was quite intimidating but nevertheless encouraging as their reviews ubiquitously waft positive feedbacks in social media. They were raving about their "3 Way Roasting Combination", so we ordered it for main course. The plate is composed of asado(braised pork), Lechon Macau and Roasted Peking duck. Asado was just okay while Cath and I can truly vouch for Lechon Macau and Peking Duck. It was not over-cooked nor raw, but was just perfect. Few minutes more, mouthfuls seemed to be endless as we paired it with their yangchow! We also highly recommend their siomai and hakaw! Indeed, our soul ended up flying through reinvigoration after what seemed an everlasting feast. It was a hearty experience for my tastebuds to savour such enormous flavors!
