Jellybeans In The City

With its mantra “Enticingly Japanese. For less.” you can expect mouthwatering yet affordable Japanese dishes at Kimono Ken. My faves here include:. Maguro (Php260). Fresh tuna sashimi sliced into bite-size pieces. California Maki (Php160). Rolled sushi made with crabstick, mango, lettuce, Japanese mayo and ebiko.
I love the yakisoba and gyoza together with their signature kimono ken special drink. Serving is so generous as their pricing that i enjoyed it a lot.
They have street level and basement parking but I did neither. This time I walked. 😁 I like walking because you get to see more. I just don't like the part when some drivers seem to want to run you over. 😱
The place is clean and neatly arranged. The servers are very polite, friendly and attentive. Kitchen is fast and you can hear them calling out the food orders. Despite the speed, the food came out looking great. I can't say I found anything I didn't like or maybe I got too hungry from all the walking. 😅
The food was good. Despite ordering so much, I still made it to dessert. 🤣
Best Japanese Curry ever - better than Coco Ichibanya. We love the sizzling tofu and chicken don too. A bit pricey but worth it. 😊
Minus a star because service is slow, staff are avoiding us when we are asking for refills and tables are arranged too close to each other.
Edit :
Crazy Maki is reaaaaaallly good! Large serving and great taste.
Been here a couple of times with my family when my parents and my brother went to medical city then I was pleasantly surprised that the waiters remembered me even when I was alone. They have really good service by remembering the little things like your choice of seat, water temperature and some orders. Serving time is quick too and the food is delicious. Good job 👍
This restaurant is walking distance from medical city ortigas. The restaurant is cozy and not too noisy. It is an incredible place with healthy and delicious japanese food options. We had an amazing sashimi appetizer. Slices are think and fresh.
We also ordered Chahan, Tontaksu, Chicken Teriyaki Salad, Ebi Katsudon, and Chicken Teridon. All of this dishes are delicious and nicely presented. I've been here several times and I can say that for food quality, it's very consistent.
Overall, food is great and not too pricey.
Food was okay. Rice bowls were good but sushi was subpar, but their service was quick and efficient. Will stop by again soon when I'm on break!
One of my go-to Japanese restaurants because of its location and good food. Just a few steps from my office and I can satisfy my Japanese food cravings. Service is great - the waiters are attentive and accomodating. Best to go here early, the restaurant gets packed especially during lunch 🍴
Spicy Fresh Maguro Salad (P320)
Beef Asparagus Maki (P210)
Creamy Spicy Tuna (P280)
Mango Ala Mode (P100)
Saturday brunch with a friend at Rockwell Business Center, and Kimono Ken made for a good stop. The place filled up easy, so we were fortunate to have arrived early.
Drinks- try the Kimono Ken special. Refreshing fruity mix: I could detect mangoes, oranges and another elusive fruit taste. The grape shake was also refreshing, albeit on the sweet side.
Food: Sukiyaki was delicious, filling and good for two. Broth had a balanced sweet-salty-umami taste, though beef cut could be better it was tender and still flavorful. Order the crispy chicken teriyaki for a crunchy delightful salty-sweet experience. Fried california maki also made for a good bite in between sips of the sukiyaki broth.
Spent around 900p for all that, and service was courteous, prompt and mostly attentive. Not a bad way to spend your Saturday morning.
Excellent service. Great value. Good food. :) Recommend the Salmon Sashimi, Agedashi Tofu, Gyoza and Beef teppan. :)
Yaki-soba is not recommended as it is more of a pancit canton than a soba. The noodles arent soba but it isn't bad at all. Just different from traditional soba. Curry sauce is more indian than japanese but its still pretty good and goes well with tonkatsu. :)
I've not eaten in a Kimono Ken restaurant in years. I'm pleasantly surprised that this branch has managed to maintain quality in terms of taste, preparation, and presentation. Value for money to address one's craving for good yet reasonably priced Japanese food in the Metro.
This is my go to place for good spicy salmon sashimi, gyoza and tempura soba. Their other dishes though - ramen, curry, sashimi, etc. are just ordinary.
Went here after going to Medical City since it's very near.
The place is good and the service is great. The food was also delicious as expected for a standard Japanese resto.
I'm quite surprised I didn't write a review the last time I was here, but I suppose good food can put the brain in a bit of a fog. There are so many amazing things about Kimono Ken that will make me a regular customer.
I love Japanese food, and having come off a three-meal sushi bender (a friend and I ordered a party platter, no judgement) - I was a little hesitant to go for Japanese again, but we both knew how delicious sashimi was and Kimono Ken serves really good, quality sashimi. Personal recommendation: Get the Shake (Salmon), Maguro (Tuna), Uni (Sea Urchin), and Ebi sashimi.
If you're newer to Japanese cuisine and not feeling adventurous, go for the rice toppings or Donburi - seriously, you can't go wrong with prawns, chicken, unagi (eel), beef tendon, pork katsudon. Pretty sure it's a fan favorite - it's definitely a favorite of mine. The portions are also generous yet very affordable.
The feel here was simple, comfortable. Their tables are spread out really well, so you definitely don't feel like you and other tables are on top of each other, which I liked. The service was very good, very standard, very Japanese in culture. I can't wait to go back and try more from the menu.
If you're lookong for a quick and affordable fix for your Japanese craving, this place is a good option.
Their Kimono Roll, Sakura Roll, and Dynamite Maki are pretty good. The Kimono Roll only has 5 piece but pretty big ones. The other 2 is served with 6 pieces each.
I personally did not like their Creamy Spicy Tuna Sashimi because it was spiced with wasabi. I am NOT a fan of wasabi.
Service was pretty good durinf my visit. Our server made sure the Sushi Chef could accommodate our requests for the makis we ordered.
Great customer service kahit one minute na lang sarado na sila, they still entertained us. And I love Japanese food so I really enjoyed dinner! Me and boyfriend loved the Cali Maki! And super affordable! Thumbs up!!!!
Kimono ken is ok ... They serve uni , and their chirashi is good . Not all japanese resto serve uni so am glad they have it in their menu 👍

The food is really great, we always eat here for celebrations like passing sprints, etc. The only downside is the food is really pricey and the serving is 'meh' the place is good, though.
When the staff of a restaurant are in Kimonos, you know they mean business, Japanese food serving business.
Kimono Ken is nestled at the ground floor of Rockwell Business Center's Tower 1, in Ortigas. I remember seeing this to be one of long-lasting restaurants still up and running since Rockwell Business Center opened a few years back.
Up front, I will tell you there are better, more authentic, and cheaper Japanese restaurants out there, BUT, Kimono Ken can still pack that punch to match with flavor, service and dining experience.
I had the opportunity to dine here coming from a training workshop in one of the companies in RBC, so we needed a quick lunch fix and we decided Kimono Ken. Serving is fast; the staff, in their Kimonos, all courteous and accommodating.
LUNCH-FIX;
1) Chahan Rice - it's a special Fried rice which had a mix of vegetables, ground beef, egg & perhaps other ingredients which blended well because it could've been a stand-alone dish.
2) Gyu Hireniku (Beef Tenderloin Teppanyaki) - now, this is no Wagyu or Kobe Beef, but the beef was indeed tender, and the vegetables served with it were seasoned perfectly. This dish can be made into beef salpicao has we not ordered it Teppanyaki style.
3) Crunch Chicken Teriyaki - I heard this was a commonly ordered dish & a best seller. I agree. It's perfect with the Chahan. They could've added more serving though.
4) Pork Tonkatsu - with all the tonkatsu places opening here and there, we've been spoiled by these other places serving Kurobota pork that's just juicy, tender and flavorful. Their Tonkatsu is just normal, nothing fancy, but fulfills your appetite.
YAKUZA's WORD:
On any given work day, I would recommend Kimono Ken for your lunch breaks or dinners. It's most convenient especially if you're coming from the companies here in Rockwelle Business Center, or after your doctor's appointment from Medical City.
Their food prices are within the P200 and above range; service is fast within 7-10 minutes; staff is accommodating (in their kimonos), and lastly, you'll be left to wonder...where's Ken?
Cheers!
One of my favorite restaurants in the area, Kimono Ken never fails in delivering quality dishes. The service can be quite slow during lunch, but I keep on coming back.
My favorites are Crunchy Chicken Teriyaki, Philadelphia Roll, Dynamite Maki and California Maki.
and just recently, I discovered that the Iced Coffee tastes good too!
I have to emphasize that they have the best-tasting Cali Maki since they use sweet mangoes.
Kudos to this restaurant! :)
