Jellybeans In The City

With its mantra “Enticingly Japanese. For less.” you can expect mouthwatering yet affordable Japanese dishes at Kimono Ken. My faves here include:. Maguro (Php260). Fresh tuna sashimi sliced into bite-size pieces. California Maki (Php160). Rolled sushi made with crabstick, mango, lettuce, Japanese mayo and ebiko.
I love the yakisoba and gyoza together with their signature kimono ken special drink. Serving is so generous as their pricing that i enjoyed it a lot.
They have street level and basement parking but I did neither. This time I walked. 😁 I like walking because you get to see more. I just don't like the part when some drivers seem to want to run you over. 😱
The place is clean and neatly arranged. The servers are very polite, friendly and attentive. Kitchen is fast and you can hear them calling out the food orders. Despite the speed, the food came out looking great. I can't say I found anything I didn't like or maybe I got too hungry from all the walking. 😅
The food was good. Despite ordering so much, I still made it to dessert. 🤣
Best Japanese Curry ever - better than Coco Ichibanya. We love the sizzling tofu and chicken don too. A bit pricey but worth it. 😊
Minus a star because service is slow, staff are avoiding us when we are asking for refills and tables are arranged too close to each other.
Edit :
Crazy Maki is reaaaaaallly good! Large serving and great taste.
Been here a couple of times with my family when my parents and my brother went to medical city then I was pleasantly surprised that the waiters remembered me even when I was alone. They have really good service by remembering the little things like your choice of seat, water temperature and some orders. Serving time is quick too and the food is delicious. Good job 👍
This restaurant is walking distance from medical city ortigas. The restaurant is cozy and not too noisy. It is an incredible place with healthy and delicious japanese food options. We had an amazing sashimi appetizer. Slices are think and fresh.
We also ordered Chahan, Tontaksu, Chicken Teriyaki Salad, Ebi Katsudon, and Chicken Teridon. All of this dishes are delicious and nicely presented. I've been here several times and I can say that for food quality, it's very consistent.
Overall, food is great and not too pricey.
Food was okay. Rice bowls were good but sushi was subpar, but their service was quick and efficient. Will stop by again soon when I'm on break!
One of my go-to Japanese restaurants because of its location and good food. Just a few steps from my office and I can satisfy my Japanese food cravings. Service is great - the waiters are attentive and accomodating. Best to go here early, the restaurant gets packed especially during lunch 🍴
Spicy Fresh Maguro Salad (P320)
Beef Asparagus Maki (P210)
Creamy Spicy Tuna (P280)
Mango Ala Mode (P100)
Saturday brunch with a friend at Rockwell Business Center, and Kimono Ken made for a good stop. The place filled up easy, so we were fortunate to have arrived early.
Drinks- try the Kimono Ken special. Refreshing fruity mix: I could detect mangoes, oranges and another elusive fruit taste. The grape shake was also refreshing, albeit on the sweet side.
Food: Sukiyaki was delicious, filling and good for two. Broth had a balanced sweet-salty-umami taste, though beef cut could be better it was tender and still flavorful. Order the crispy chicken teriyaki for a crunchy delightful salty-sweet experience. Fried california maki also made for a good bite in between sips of the sukiyaki broth.
Spent around 900p for all that, and service was courteous, prompt and mostly attentive. Not a bad way to spend your Saturday morning.
Excellent service. Great value. Good food. :) Recommend the Salmon Sashimi, Agedashi Tofu, Gyoza and Beef teppan. :)
Yaki-soba is not recommended as it is more of a pancit canton than a soba. The noodles arent soba but it isn't bad at all. Just different from traditional soba. Curry sauce is more indian than japanese but its still pretty good and goes well with tonkatsu. :)
