Love the food. I just wish the serving sizes were a little bigger.

Their bingsus are so good! It might be too sweet for some, but the sweetness is perfect for me. Their bingsus are also great alternatives to the usual ice cream and halo-halo to beat the heat and humidity.

One of my favorite places for cheap ramen noodles. Plus it has a cozy ambience that is just the perfect place to chill. I love eating here even if it's just by myself.

The ramen here rarely goes up to P250 and it's tasty af. A bit on the spicy side but that's standard for a korean resto. In the morning they have breakfast promos and free coffee. Perfect for a quick meal before heading to the office.

One time I had some errands but along the way I was hit by a sharp PMS abdominal pain, without warning. It was a real torture, but I had go on moving. In a flash, I was thinking of a hot soup that would help mitigate this nasty ache. I am usually a "cheap thrills"-seeker so I just wanted a nice hot soup that I could afford.

I checked out some Ortigas restaurants from my phone, and alternately looked around as I was walking down F. Ortigas Jr. Road (I still prefer to call it in its old name, Emerald Avenue -- bakit kasi pinalitan eh hahaha). Looked like help was within my reach -- Sopoong Food House, a Korean restaurant which is located at the ground floor of Grand Emerald Tower, at the corner of Emerald Avenue and Garnet Road. I had been to Subspace which is also located in the same building.

Sopoong offers ramen (or more correctly, ramyun) whose price range goes from ₱99 to ₱200+. Fortunately, it also serves coffee as well.

I saw their toast dishes on their menu and would like to have a Red Bean toast meal (with brewed coffee) sana, but unfortunately all kinds of toasts were unavailable at the moment.

🔘 Sopoong Ramen (₱99) - The cheapest ramen on the menu. Yay! Since I am not completely knowledgeable about Korean cuisine, I did not know what to expect from this dish. I just wanted a hot meal to help lessen my pre-menstrual abdominal pain.

It turned out to be really good. I did not expect it to have some "heat" -- I usually like spicy foods but I thought their Jjmapong would be too spicy to my liking (and might probably worsen my pain). So I had the Sopoong Ramen instead. It tasted like the Rainy Day Ramyun that I had from Love Monday Cafe in Kapitolyo. Probably they used the same brand of ramyun, only this Soopong Ramen had a bit more heat. Even if the soup had turned cold, it was okay because it was spicy enough naman.

🔘 Steamed pork dumplings (4 pieces, ₱65 / 8 pieces, ₱120) - In other words, mandu. Hehehe. Typical, classic "earthy" mandu flavor, but I'm just a sucker for dumplings (steamed over fried anytime) so I enjoyed them nonentheless. I had the four-piece option and I ate them along with the spicy soup of my Sopoong Ramen. Bagay naman!

🔘 Sopoong Coffee (₱49) - Strong coffee which I liked. Even after I added sugar and cream in it, its nicely robust flavor remained.

I loved the interiors -- predominantly accented by faux brick walls and faux plants. The space was brightly lit due to the combination of natural light from the outside and indoor lighting. The long tables at the middle of the space were ideal for large groups of diners.

Servers would greet you with "annyeonghaseyo" as you enter the premises, and then "kamsamhamnida" as you leave. Plus points for that!

This is a self-service restaurant. Even though I was handed the menu as I was sitting in my table, I still had to go to the counter myself to place my orders (instead of calling out the waitress and mentioning the orders to her). 🤔

The restaurant didn't have any restroom as well (as far as I knew).

But other than those little inconveniences, I had a good first experience at Sopoong Food House. I hope for their toasts to become available when I come back there again. It also offers other usual Korean stuff like kimbap, bibimbap, deopbap, bingsu and smoothies.

Sophie Says drop everything and get this Bingsu at Sopoong Food House stat!!!

Before discovering other big bingsu spots, I fell in love with this lovely korean dessert at this quaint little store in Ortigas.

The only drawback is that they open at 10am ( or 9, not 100% accurate for a dog lah! ) and the person who operates the machine for the Bingsu is not there. The Horror!!!

It's all worth it though, the ice is soft and creamy laced with mango syrup/puree and the fruit is also overflowing as a topping. Worth it Indeed!

I tried some of their other offers, the soups were good - hot/spicy but good and average on the rice meals.

The Bingsu saves them. 😂🤣

And that's what Sophie Says!

An affordable Korean stop at the heart of Ortigas Center. I always order the Happy Bibimbap (vegetables with rice) and the Vegetable Kimbap. Their rice dishes are served with their yummy seaweed soup. Servers are friendly and accommodating. They open early and also serve breakfast toasts with coffee. You have the option of ordering their rice meals for breakfast and avail of the free brewed coffee. Their vegetable toast is also one of my favorites. The Jjambbong Ramen however, is no different from your regular store-bought Korean instant cup noodles. I have yet to try their Bingsu and Smoothies.

Another affordable korean food in Ortigas. What I liked about in here is the good service of staff to their customers. Friendly and accommodating staff were a plus points.

Authentic korean food on a budget.
The dumpling is tasty and light while the kimbap is fresh and finely sliced just right for bite size cut.
Tried their ramen it has the right spicyness and very savory. Also, their seaweed clear soup is so good and soothing!
