Awesome food great staff and the best place to have a brew or two with friends

Proper fish and chips--the British/English way is pretty difficult to find here in Manila, or mainly even the Philippines overall. Thankfully, we have CargoFish to turn to for that authentic grub.

CargoFish isn't new in town. This branch in City Golf Plaza is their 2nd branch that opened recently. The 1st branch opened well over a year ago I believe, and it's located in Uptown mall. That place has always been bookmarked, I just never had a chance to go and try CargoFish. It wasn't until recently that I tried it out, and I really enjoyed it. And to be honest, I just had a meal at another restaurant in the area, and wasn't satisfied or happy with it. As I walked into CargoFish, I dearly hoped it would cheer up my foodie spirits.

I was torn as to what to try for my 1st CargoFish experience. I asked what the best-sellers were and opted for Cobbler with sides of Onion Rings and Proper Chips along with Tartar sauce. I also knew that malt vinegar was the way they do it in England, and I was more than happy that they put a bottle of it next to the Philippine spiced vinegar bottle.

The basket/mini crate box was full when it was served to me. I was surprised at the generous portion sizes. There were 2 big strips of fish, and hefty sides. Suddenly, I felt a little overwhelmed but still went for the food.

The fish was fabulous. Breading was thick but light. Oily, but the oil doesn't coat the mouth in a disgusting way. It was yummy with the tartar, but in my opinion, superb with the malt vinegar. That made the tartar a dip for my sides, which was fantastic. Rings and chips were nice and crisp. The entire meal was oily, in a yummy way. Since I was partially full from my previous meal, I didn't finish my sides, but took it home with me.

Food: 5.0 - Fantabulous fried food!

Price: 5.0 - Doable prices starting at P165 for big portions.

Service: 5.0 - Super friendly and knowledgeable staff.

Ambience: 5.0 - Chilled back vibes. Design is somewhat of a pub.

CargoFish is authentic. There was a British guy that went in and sat at a table that seemed to do auditing. He said hi. Nice guy, great grub. Can't wait to come back and try other fish options. 🐟😋♥️

Great place to drink in because of the more affordable prices of alcoholic beverages (beers are priced at Php 40-90). Iced Coffee is also only Php 40.

Love the beer-battered fish and chips, it's not oily and it's not soggy.

Perhaps the best thing about CargoFish is that they have a variety of choices for the fish---around 5---unlike the lone Dory used in other restaurants.

Here in Cargofish they have three steps to have your Fish & Chips. You've to build your own fish & chips combo. They are battered and deep fried with real potatoes on the side.

1st choose from Fish or Meat with beer battered flavor. Available are
Cod, Salmon, Chicken & Sausage.
I liked the Sausage and Salmon fillet!

2nd choose two sides,
Sweet Potato chips, Onion Rings, Proper Chips, Slaw Salad or Cargo rice.
We've tried the first three sides and I'd say they're the most common side orders. Yummy!

3rd choose 1 sauce from
Tartar, Honey Jalapeño, Seafood Barbeque.
Additional sauce is P25.

This is a place to drink & you dont need to go anywhere else to eat after you have a bottle of beer with these combo choices. 😍

Open hours is from M-Th 11-4am,
Fri-Sat 11-6am, Sunday 11-1am

Carho fish and Burnt Bamboo share a restaurant in one. They have more seats at the open area veranda where you could drink or smoke or chill. 😍

CargoFish is not a new concept as they already have a branch in BGC. However, not everyone is into Fish and Chips 'coz rice is life after all. Hahaha!!! But, Fish and Chips plus Booze is a good combination.

So, if you are around City Golf or Ortigas area and you wanna eat, chill/drink, smoke and have fun CargoFish is the place to be!

You will be welcomed by a very artistic vibe that is gonna bring you to another place -- from the interiors to the murals and neon lights present. Also, I love the simplicity of the menu. I did not even need to ask if this is per piece or whatsoever because it is all clear. And lastly, it is really convenient especially to those who smoke because there is a smoking area available.

Everyone is very accommodating and easy to approach. Every crew is attentive and makes sure that all your orders are complete. Also, they do know what they serve and even the difference of each so, this is really a plus for me.

I did order the Salmon plus Onion Rings and Sweet Potato Fries with Toasted Garlic Sauce. The presentation is really good and a steal for its price and the quality. The Salmon is so good, tender, easy to slice and is flavorful on its own but the dip would enhance it more. While the onion rings is not oily at all and has less breading. While the Sweet Potato Fries is more of a wedge. Pretty big and very generous serving. The Toasted Garlic Sauce is something that I really love -- the creaminess and texture is perfect and it feels like it melts in my mouth.

They also serve Smirnoff Mule which is way cheaper than other bars nearby. Also, they have variety of options.

I will definitely come back and bring in more people!
