Food was great and so was the ambiance. When we went there our only qualm was that the waitresses were blatantly new to the food service industry, was extremely slow in taking orders, and even forgot some of our orders. Given that everything else was excellent and I don’t want to give them a bad review solely because of the incompetence of the staff, I highly recommend this place.
Been to the place. Service was good. Servers were alert and caring. Food delivery to table is fast. A perfect example of Japanese culture in a restaurant. A must try for people!
Ordered the Shima special, salmon skin roll, chahan (fried rice), tempura, cold udon, okonomiyaki, etc. It was so DELICIOUS and AUTHENTIC. The chefs are genuinely from Shima, Japan. You can taste that they didn’t scrimp on ingredients. I had mine delivered. The presentation in the delivery crates were still impeccable. They still managed to do some good plating on it. The sushi rolls are really great! Even in delivery, they didn’t spoil and they still taste fresh. Shima Eats is very creative with sushi rolls. I want to try the sushi donut next time. I was surprised that after I did the online order through the website, and paid via GCash, they already processed it and the order was on the way. I got mine in time for lunch. No delays! The staff were also very kind and accommodating. (Please leave at least a 10% tip because they’re working hard!) I would highly recommend Shima Eats because I could have that authentic taste of Japanese food I had in Japan even at home. I wish I could dine there but I’m still mostly at home now.
Wide variety of food to choose from. Food is pretty good esp their ebi maki. Large seating capacity. Great service, good ambiance.👍
Been here twice, the staff were adequately accommodating. The price for the food were reasonable and I love that they maintained the homemade taste of the dishes.
I really like their Hawaiian Rolls and will try their Kitsune Udon on our next visit.
Food is great! If you miss authentic sashimi and sushi from your Japan trip, this is where you go.
Shima is a definite must try if you're into authentic Japanese cuisine! The owner was also very accommodating. The price may be a little high, but trust me the experience was worth it! Get their sukiyaki and I promise you that there'll be a little surprise at the end.
Came here for dinner with my family. Service was alright, quick too. Their sashimi tasted good - we were all just surprised by how thick the sashimi slicer were. They were probably 2x the regular size. Their spicy tuna wasn't that special. I believe they could've presented it better too bc it just looked sad. Their Hawaiian rolls looked very appetizing, but didn't taste like it. The flavors were just weird. The Yasai itame was cooked well and their gyudon was really good - I love how the sauce tastes with the rice YUMMMM. Their tempura and karaage had a good crunch and taste to it. Their Sukiyaki was weird. They ask if u want them to cook it or if we'll do it by ourselves. We let them do it and they had a separate bowl of just the meat, just the soup, a raw egg, and all the veggies and noodles. We asked them how do we eat it?? Bc we order sukiyaki a lot in many Jap restos but everything is together?? She said u get the meat, dip it in the egg and eat it? Wtf weird. She said the same for the veg too. Idk if she was just misinformed or what but it was very strange to us so we just mixed it all together like we normally do. Other than that, everything was above average. Not a bad price too for the amount of food we got.
Best Japanese food in the south so far !!! Staffs are friendly even Sato ! Regular customer here! Must try are tantanmen, tuna roll and tuna salad. Negima and yakisoba ! Also try their okonomiyaki prepared by Sato itself !
A hidden gem. Great quality, fair price. Sushi rolls and sashimi were good. Yakiniku was great. Definitely my new go-to place for Japanese food in the south.
Dined here last night with my mom. The food was good. We ordered 3 kinds of sushi rolls (Shima special, Tempura special and another one... Can't remember the name) and kakiage. The Tempura Special was great and also the other one, just can't remember the name. The Shima Special (4pcs only) wasn't really that good. It wasn't bad but the other two were far better. Kakiage was just... Basic.
Anyway, really enjoyed the sushi rolls. Would've rated 5 stars but service was slow. They had this bell on the table which you press when you need service and had to press 4x when we had some additional orders. First 2x I pressed it a waitress came but another table waved at her and she completely ignored us. Last 2x we still had to wait as 2 waitresses kept passing us off to the other saying "ikaw nalang mag take ng order" but then the other one would do so distractedly that i had to ring a 4th time just to make sure.
Would I come back? Definitely. Jap owner was friendly, btw and would greet guests coming in.
We had the Spicy Tuna Roll, Spicy Salmon Sashimi, Zaru Soba, Tori Teriyaki, Mushroom wrapped in Beef, and Kaisen Donburi. The verdict- everything was fresh and pleasing to the palate. Prices on the menu were cheap and here’s why- servings were small. Tastewise, superior but presentation could be improved. The maki, for instance, was cut in different sizes. Service was also a bit slow. It was good at the beginning, but steadily deteriorated as the meal progressed. Would i come back? Of course. Ambience and taste more than made up for the tiny issues that are easily rectified.
