Here at Azumi Boutique hotel, at the bottom floor lies Romulo's. Romulo's is a Filipino restaurant named after the former statesman Carlos P. Romulo.
This is a place where you can go for a nice meal or have an event.
In this visit, we were checking out the venue for my sister's party. So for our lunch, we opted to have their fresh lumpia, inasal chicken sisig and binagoongan.
The fresh lumpia and the inasal sisig were excellent, no need to add any additional sauces to the dish. Both were flavorful on their own right, the binagoongan on the other hand lacked the bagoong flavor.
Overall, a good experience, good service and nice ambiance.
First time I was here was with my family. My mom and I celebrated our birthday lunch here and it did not disappoint. We ordered kare kare, crispy pork binagoongan, baby squid adobo and the suman latik which is probably one of the most delicious desserts I've had in my life! Everything we ordered taste great. Interior is cozy but posh. It can be quite expensive as this is a hotel restaurant but every penny is worth it. Service is excellent and now that this is on Eatigo, it made it even more appealing.
My family and I stayed in Azumi Boutique Hotel, and we had our breakfast at Romulo Cafe. The ambiance and interior is cute and attractive & the food is great.
This restaurant can cater to events of all sorts. They have ample space to carry out private functions like the one I attended today.
It was a buffet spread of their popular Filipino dishes. I wasn’t so hungry yet I got a number of viands on my plate. They all looked sumptuous.
The Kare Kare was creamy and its alamang made it even better. I didn’t have the Binagoongan but it paired well with Romulo’s take on Chicken Inasal.
I also suggest checking out their Gising Gising. For me, it was seasoned well and spiced just right. I also enjoyed the addition of some seafood, buttered shrimps and crablets!
It’s good to know Romulo’s is around to have reliable local cuisine and get to share it too with a crowd given their spacious restaurants. You can also have an event set-up in Tomas Morato and Jupiter branches.
Dined here on a Sunday afternoon, and I have to admit, I already had some hesitations about the place because I had attended an event there once and I didn't like the food that was served. Was pleasantly surprised to have had a good and hearty meal. I got the lengua, and I loved the soft texture and the sauce. One of my companions ordered chicken relleno, and though I'm not usually a fan of relleno, I also enjoyed the Bacolod chicken and the Ginataang Sigarillas. I absolutely loved the food and would definitely come back for more!
To celebrate my brother's birthday, i choose this place since it has great reviews and it's outside malls in alabang. Besides we had to pick up my sis in law from work good thing they're still open after 7pm. We ordered baby pusit, oyster kangkong i think topped with lechon kawali, lechon sisig and pasta. "Simut Sarap" "walang tapon" tagalog para intense. I recommend it 😍. One or two things that making me think twice to come back though are their Shakes and some crew. We ordered 3 mango shake and one buko shake. It's almost P200 each but you would prefer Fruitas shake or Cafe France for half the price. And lastly, the employee at the hotel entrance is way more courteous than the people in the resto. Only one crew knew how to smile. You'll never knw who's coming. Not all customers flaunt their money just for you to look at them then give the best customer service possible. Anyway, we still enjoy the food.
Looking to spend some quality time with your loved ones? Why not spend it at Romulo Cafe where the ambiance is good, and the food is sure to be a winner. 🙂. The place looked posh, clean and classy. I liked the whole green wallpaper design that matched beautifully with its marble flooring. It sets up the mood for a good dining experience.
Last Mother's day, we stayed at Azumi Boutique Hotel & ate at Romulo Cafe. It's not my first time here, kaya I can really say that their food is really good! 🤤
My personal fave is Mixed Bicol Express, may seafood & pork yun, and the price is just right hindi siya super pricey & for the food naman na sinerve its super worth it 😬
You guys should try it out!
PS: If nag stay kayo sa Azumi, dun din ang bfast buffet niyo & super pak ng bfast nila don ☺️☺️☺️
So happy with my room service dinner!!! Their Lechon Kawali Sisig Rice Bowl is super yummy! For P220, totally worth it! Crunchy Lechon Kawali with mayo and despite me not being a fan of red onions, I loved the meal! Would love to go back to stay or even just dine here again soon!
Update:
We stayed overnight so we have complimentary breakfast buffet. Sad to say, we were not happy with the spread. They only have smoked fish and sausage with scrambled eggs. Choice of rice and a few assortments of bread.
Update 2:
We dined again for lunch and since I haven’t had enough of the lechon kawali sisig, we ordered that again. Monggo soup was good and tasty. Kare Kare was just so-so for me despite it being an heirloom recipe as indicated on the menu. They used grounded roasted peanuts for the sauce but taste-wise, hubby and I found it just ok and nothing spectacular.
If you are looking for a private and intimate setting to spend with family, this is the go to place. I might suggest to call in ahead of time to reserve a table since the space is quite limited. I love the ambiance of this place since it is situated far from the busy restos of the south.
The food selection is Filipino and is sooo good! The price is not that steep and the servings are huge!
We ordered the following:
Vigan Longganisa Dumpling
Kare Kare
Binagoonang Baboy
Pancit Puti
Baby Squid in Garlic and Olive Oil
Buco Pandan
I will definitely be back to order the other dishes to try!
We had a breakfast buffet here last sunday. Limited food choices, pero it was okay naman kase masarap naman yung foods. I loved their scrambled egg. The place is good, the staffs are nice. 👏👏👏
Great choice for Filipino food in Alabang area! Keep it in mind as an option the next time you eat out with your family. Try the heirloom recipes which will surely not disappoint!
Really delicious filipino food. Loved almost anything we’ve ordered. The Sinigang na salmon, Flying tilapia, Kare kare are the ones the must try for me. 🤗
What can I say? The food here is superb, the ambiance is nice and cozy and the staff were very friendly and accommodating. We dined here to celebrate my mom's birthday and all our family and friends loved it here!!!
PLACE:
Place is nice. Kinda posh but not intimidating.
FOOD:
Tito Greg's Kare Kare: Super yummy! Sauce was thick and you can really taste the peanut. Meat was so tender, it almost melts in your mouth.
Crispy Squid: This is a must try! Super crunchy and tasty! You can eat it with or without rice. Super yummy. I would love to munch this one anytime of the day. You won't regret trying this.
Chicken Adobo: Sauce was separated from the meat yet you can still taste the adobo flavor in the meat with or without the sauce. I rarely eat adobo specially if it's not cooked by my Dad but Romulo's adobo didn't disappoint me. They probably fried the chicken after cooking it in adobo sauce since you can see how beautiful the color of the chicken is.
Shrimp: I forgot the name of the dish but this one is so good as well. Shrimps are fresh and sauce doesn't overpower the natural taste of the shrimps.
Lechon Kawali: Crispy skin and tender meat. Sooo good!
Molo Soup: This is sooo good also. I just wish there had been more molo.
PRICE:
Quite pricey but definitely a good value for your money.
SERVICE:
Friendly and accommodating staff. Very attentive as well.
VERDICT:
Did I enjoy it? - Yes
Will I recommend it? - Yes
Will I come back? - Yes
We booked a small event here last weekend with a short notice and they accommodate us very well. They have a great place perfect for small events or any intimate gatherings and the interiors were very charming. The food was outstanding and the staff were great. Thank you!
I asked my team to report during a Client Holiday to work on a planning session. I wanted to reward them by having dinner outside the office and one of my Team Managers recommended this restaurant.
This well lit, artsy black and white interior restaurant is located at the ground floor of Azumi Boutique Hotel. Known for the breakfast buffet station if Azumi, this place also serves lunch and dinner.
Pomelo Salad - salad greens, salted egg and pomelo tidbits in strawberry and apple cider vinaigrette
Sinigang na Sugpo - Big Bowl serves 5-6 with reasonable size prawns. Soup in nice but there is lingering aftertaste of Patis on the soup.
Bangus Sisig - this one is better than the greasy version from Gerry's Grill.
Inihaw na Pusit - Typical squid relleno. This one has cheese and serve sliced open face. The black ink rice that comes with it is nicely seasoned. - Just the rice
General's Chicken - a failed attempt to establish an original "house" version of the fowl staple
Boneless Crispy Pata Binagoongan- an innovative version. It looked different on this picture because I asked the sauce to be separated (not sure at that time if everyone in my team will appreciate the pata dredged in the bagoong sauce).
Food: 2.5

I enjoyed the cozy atmosphere added to the homey feel of the boutique hotel. Food spread of the buffet was good native dishes. I look forward to a staycation and a breakfast meal to match. Staff are very attentive too. This will not be the last time we come here.
During our 3 days 2 nights stay at Azumi Boutique Hotel, we had our breakfast buffet here at Romulo Cafe. The choices during my stay were Filipino dishes like Fish Sarciado, Chicken Sarciado, Champorado, Pancit Guisado.
As I am quite very particular with breakfast and don't want breakfast with a lot of sauce. I requested for them to serve me instead ham and sausages. However, for our second breakfast buffet, they already served sausages and ham. The design of this Cafe is very nice! and somehow looks greenery.

Romulo serves traditional Filipino comfort food with a twist amidst a museum- style setting. Though located inside a boutique hotel, in my opinion it lacks that certain "taking things up to a higher level" feel. Service is average, both times we dined there a fly or two would swarm around our table, making it difficult to enjoy the food. My two favorites are the Fried Lumpiang Ubod and Tinapa Rolls. Generous servings and the vinegar dip is yummy. My mom loves the Molo Soup. Chicken Adobo sa Gata is just alright. Lacks depth of flavor considering there were 2 opportunities in that one dish to achieve yummy- adobo & gata. Hard to get that wrong. Tried Suman Latik for dessert- really cute presentation! Think Suman Shots. Genius! Overall the experience of dining at Romulo Cafe was average. There's lotsa room for improvement, and great potential to be awesome😊
Visited a couple of times, and was very satisfied with what they have to offer.
The kare-kare is huge and could serve 4-5 people. This is by far one of the best kare-kare I've tried. Creamy and nutty flavor packed with vegetables and meat.
Another dish I liked was the Pansit Pilipino. This is their take in the booming craze of salted egg dishes. Topped with tuyo (dried salted fish) and chili, the sodium is toned down with the sweetness of the onions and a generous drizzle of olive oil. However, they could have taken it up a notch by toasting the crostinis.
I also recommend the Pomelo salad. The tangyness of the pomelo dressing is just too refreshing. Perfect for summer.
My friends' wedding reception was held here and i can say that their food is great. They serve no frills traditional Filipino comfort food. Place was quite small but the interiors are minimalist and I loved it.
What to try: Gising Gising, Beef Caldereta, and Honey Garlic Pork.
Sisig Rice was great also the Pork Humba. Beef Caldereta w/ Quezo de bola is quite disappointing. The taste was great but the beef, potatiea and carrots sgould have been cooked well also the quezo de bola were so few. The chocolate dome was great for dessert.
We ordered Adobo, Caldereta and Tito Greg's Kare-Kare. While it's not bad, only the kare-kare is worth a return visit. It was served in a huge bowl with enough twalya, beef and vegetables to serve 5! The buko pandan is a deconstructed version and was surprisingly good! Try the cool as cucumber drink too.. definitely refreshing!
Buffet breakfast (complimentary with check-in) has very few choices, especially for a January 1 special: bangus, ham, sausage, eggs, pancakes, champorado and toast.

Romulo's cafe is Azumi Boutique Hotel's restaurant on the ground floor. This place serves family style filipino food for a reasonable price.
I LOVED my ginataang hipon sa kamias. Shrimps were fresh, and thecoconut broth burst with flavour. The other dish we had was the lengue in red wine sauce. I liked this too not because the sauce was flavourful, but because the lengua was cooked very well.
The quality or the food here is great, and the service is tops.
Had dinner at Romulo's Cafe and it was a nice experience. Ordered the Bulalo soup, Beef Kaldereta, Pork Humba, Crispy Crablet's and Grilled Squid & Black Ink Rice = Foodgasm!!
We had our buffet breakfast at Romulo's cafe Alabang when we stayed at Azumi. The food was good with an average variety of choices. The resto has a nice ambience and great location plus the staff were all courteous and attentive.
This one in Azumi Hotel is pretty crowded since most of the hotel guests dine here. Quite small space but they managed to put some effort on the details on their interior design.
📌 Flying Tilapia
Of course, who can resist deep fried crispy tilapia huh? Let's go check the sauce/dips they have on the side.
Chili Garlic - 👍🏻
Soy Vinegar - okay
Honey Bagoong - 👎🏻 it's too sweet. More of honey than bagoong, I guess. We've tasted a more better version of this (of course I won't mention where 🙊)
So we really hope they can learn to balance the right amount of sweet and saltiness on this dip
📌 Bagnet Pakbet
Good number of Bagnet pieces on the plate. Right amount of saltiness cause of the bagoong. Veggies were cooked just well.
*Dishes we ordered were paired with garlic rice
Since we dine on a late night, service was quite fast. Well they only have around two table to attend to, they we're preparing to close, so I guess that's kinda obvious.
Perhaps, we'll go back to try some of the other dishes they offer...and also check on the quality of service as well. 'Till then! Burrrrp 😜
Romulo Cafe is one of those restaurants in Manila that I really like because of two things: the menu and the ambiance. Their menu consists of old-fashioned Filipino comfort food which are mainly heirloom recipes of the Romulo family. The beautiful and well-thought of interior design of the place is something that can't be missed.
It's a very good choice for a upper scale ambience for a Filipino restaurant with good food to boot.
The food is Solid but the price is a little bit more then your typical Filipino restaurant.

Loooove the unique dinning experience. Aside from the interior and ambiance, the food is excellent! They did a good job in Filipino fusion. A but pricey for Filipino food, but it's the service and dinning experience you pay for.
This restaurant caught my eye while I was registering my room at Azumi.
I automatically fell in love with its black, green and white interior. It was simply sophisticated.
As we're still waiting for our family members to arrive, I invited my mom for a light snack at Romulo Cafe.
We ordered their Pinoy Nachos and their Penne Carbonara with Vigan Longganisa. My mom and I enjoyed the pasta so much. The combination of cream and the garlicy flavor of the vigan longganisa is just perfect. I'm still craving for it right now. On the other hand, the nacho chips were also good.
Would have rated this a 4.5 if not because of the service, which I know they can improve.
Nevertheless, I'd still love to go back to this place.
The interior of the restaurant is impeccably beautiful. The whole restaurant is instagram-worthy 👌🏻 However the menu line up for breakfast is not worth it. Although Azumi is only a boutique hotel but I believe they can improve their breakfast buffet offering. No yogurt, few fruits, and limited drinks. We asked the server about the offering and they told us that on a Sundays there are more variations, but if you are to think about it... Most of the guests are businessmen who are there on a weekdays, so I believe they have to review and reconsider on what days to offer much. One more thing, I saw a lot of servers unattended why not whenever a guest comes in upon greeting them you can also ask them if they want coffee, milk or tea. Just my own opinion and is just based on what I experience with other hotels.
What I like most about this cafe is the ambiance and the terrific interior design. The green, blck and white color scheme is really relaxing. The food is good as well. Breakfast Buffet though is quite boring but you ahould try the ala
carte menu. I recommend the Binagoongang Baboy.
Filipinos often look for home cooked meals whenever they go out for fine dining. It's probably a popular contradiction and Manila is littered with quite a number of establishments that cater to such cravings. Romulo Cafe is one such place. Great food. Friendly sevice. And a chique ambiance that one would not automatically identity with a historic figure; President Carlos P. Romulo. My personal favorites are their Sisig Rice and their Prawns in Aligue (crab fat) Sauce. Dishes that are dangerously delicious. You'll probably die with a smile on your face.

Probably one of my fave restos in the South. Price is really worth what you get as their dishes are delicious. My fave would have to be their veggie dishes - the gising gising especially, and the pakbet, and the ginataang sigarillas.
For the rice, I recommend their sisig rice. It's what I always have when I'm there, even if the dishes I get would seem to go better with plain rice (since I usually order their saucy dishes). Somehow, the sisig rice compliments the flavors of their dishes.
Only disappointment I got with their food was of the meatless tortang talong. Except for the amazing fact that it was meatless, I didn't find anything else extraordinary with this dish and it's serving was extremely small. Still, I'd say to give it a try so you can see how good food can still taste without the need for meat.
good Filipino food, meals are served on a timely manner, quiet surroundings, classy ambiance with a touch of Philippine history. a must try if you're tired of the south's usually crowded eating spots.
I heard some acquaintances saying the breakfast buffet here is good, since it's not just one person, but 3 of them said the same thing, the ever excitedly curious moi, dropped by for breakfast for 2 consecutive days, why two consecutive days? Not because of what you are thinking 😄 but Because I thought maybe the breakfast offering on Wednesday would be totally different on Thursday. Big mistake, it was not the case. Same LIMITED menu except the "pancit bijon" on Wednesday became "pancit malabon" on Thursday. The rest looked like they didn't move at all from their posts 😄
It was too late, but I should have asked on my first morning the menu differences. My only excuse was the excitement to immerse myself to the experience got in the way of my brain waves. So I asked those basic questions on my second day "blah blah blah" breakfast:
Moi: sir, do you always serve the same dishes everyday?
Waiter: Yes Ma'am
Moi: Do you ever serve a breakfast other than the ones like yesterday and today?
Waiter: Yes Ma'am , Sunday
Moi: What's on a Sunday menu?
Waiter: A lot ma'am, all SPECIAL Filipino dishes served as breakfast!
Moi: Like?
Waiter: Fried Bangus, Fried Tapa, fried ....
I know, I know, it was one dragging conversation and I'm pretty sure you're also rolling your eyes like I did 😄.
I still have to find out what the Special Breakfast buffet is that a few are talking about :) so yes one more try on the breakfast buffet 😊
I refused to get disheartened, my friend and I went to have dinner there, and amazingly, we like what we ordered, on both times we visited. Except the Lengua which was not properly prepared based on the fishy stench. The Manager was very apologetic after checking the questionable dish. I'm sure it was just an isolated commodity 😉.
Food was okay. I love their bar located at the hotel's penthouse. The waiters are attentive and accommodating to your needs.
Food - excellent. Gising-gising, laing, kare-kare.
Service - very attentive servers. Good job.
Ambiance - very nice place.
Price - affordable. Worth your money.
I used to attend bible study in CCF every Wednesday night before that I realized that the restaurant on the hotel lobby was Romulo Cafe. As a food adventurer, it was just fitting to try it for the first time when I checked-in in the hotel last week. I thought the entire cafe was cozy and I liked the idea that there were also table set-ups outside for a more personal dining experience. I had reservation in Tony Roma's in ATC for lunch that day and got so full and didn't have any more tummy space for snack. At dinner, still feeling a bit full, I ordered pansit sotanghon and it was simply good. I actually did not avail of the hotel breakfast but having tasted the pansit sotanghon the night before, which sealed the deal for me to finally decide to have a taste of what the cafe had to offer, I proceeded to the restaurant upon waking up at 8:00 am for breakfast. I was greeted by Efren (whom I later found it to be the manager) and that alone made me feel hotel guests are treated important in this hotel. Scrambled eggs, asado siopao, a chicken dish and a vegetable dish were on the buffet area. I got a taste of everything and I must admit that I had 2nd set of all as all of the dishes were just delicious. Breads were also presented but I didn't have the chance to get to taste them because during that time, I had more than what I could bear :). I had fruits though as my dessert and they too were sweet and completed my meal for the day. I also had a conversation with Efren who sat next to me the entire time, he was just so pleasant. I noticed he'd from time to time get up to check the food supply and at one point served me juice to drink. I requested to meet the chef on duty too to commend his cooking and Efren gladly called Chef Ron who was equally friendly and accommodating like his manager. Great food plus excellent customer service equals superb experience! I'm coming back with friends.
Upon entering Azumi for our check-in, this modern and sleek cafe actually caught my attention. I would have loved to dine in there but my circumstances were not that good. I was a little bit tired so we only ordered room service. We had the Crispy Squid, Pork Belly Humba and a cup of Garlic Rice. The food were surprisingly good! The food is just as good as how the place looks.
we have several visits here including their makati branch. romulo's cafe was introduced to us by one of our close friend and we also fell in love with its food. its menu is typical pinoy but with a twist. each visit is definitely worth it.
It was our family's second time to eat in Romulo Cafe but the first time in this branch. I think I had a better food experience today but that was probably because we had a variety of food choices as compared to when we ate in the Jupiter branch the first time. I remember eating a couple of their chicken dishes in Jupiter, which I didn't really like that much.
I recommend the red egg pasta! It was delicious! We also ordered a couple of their mini cakes--the banoffee cake was really good.
Oh yeah, celebrated Mother's Day here and we had a lovely time ☺️
