I went here with a friend last year! We only ordered a drink and a dessert (can’t remember which) and they were good. We didn’t stay for too long since we just killed time. But anyhow, the customer service is good and the drink + dessert was good enough. Would love to come back here soon to try out more!

My interest on 1919 started when it was featured by no other than the Manila Mayor on TV as his new favorite restaurant. On TV it looked like a restaurant fit for an Oscars after party event. I had to see it myself. Thankfully my father-in-law invited us there for lunch a few days later.

The location is inside a very old building which used to be the HSBC Binondo branch. Upon entering, the first thing I noticed was how different the interior was from the exterior/surroundings of the building. It can easily beat a 5-star hotel lobby in my opinion. I cannot imagine the amount of effort put out to make the venue as modern and classy as possible. We ordered Pasta Negra, Carbonara, 4 Kinds of Cheese Pizza, Chicken Cordon Bleu and Crispy Pork Belly. Loved how creamy the Carbonara was. Pasta Negra did a good job in coloring our teeth black, it was also a little salty for my taste. The unexpected standout was the 4 Kinds of Cheese pizza. The size was just around 8 to 10 inches but the taste of the combined cheese was intense. I would definitely recommend it whether you are a pizza lover or not. I also recommend that you stay a little longer after your meal as you might see celebrities coming in. If you get hungry, they also have pastries for take out. I can't wait to be back here to try their breakfast.

Tried their pasta and crispy pork belly. Both tastes divine and the serving of food is good for two people. Not a fan of cheesecakes, but their blueberry cheesecake took the cake here. No pun intended.

Will definitely recommend this place especially for date nights and special ocassions.

We went for dinner and were the 15th in the waiting line so we walked to Jones bridge, which is just a block away, to kill some time. We got seated a few mins upon returning to the restaurant.
The 2nd floor has private dining areas for groups so that's great. It's just a bit difficult to call service from the rooms. But our overall experience was good bc the food arrived fast and the waiter, Raymond, was attentive and checked on us frequently.
Food is a bit pricey and none of what we ate that night really stood out. Not in photo, but we liked the 4 cheese pizza. Their pizza is small and reminds me of Pizza Hut but less oily and slightly more sweet. Vegetable pizza was ok. Not a fan of the Salt and Pepper Squid breading and the Thai Chicken Salad. The salad dressing had a lot of patis, I think, bc it was a bit saltier than expected. We liked the Baby Back Ribs and the Spareribs. The meat was tender and their servings were generous.
Overall ok, the seats are cute and comfy. Will probably try other dishes and the coffee on an off peak day/hour.

We had breakfast at Grand Cafe and ordered Adobo Pork Ribs, Daing Bagus Belly and Beef Tapa. All of it was 380 pesos each it's a bit pricey but it's worth because the serving was big and delicious 😋. Adobo Pork Ribs was the best! We also had Blueberry Cheesecake which was delicious for only 150. Their coffee is unlimited with milk and muscavado sugar :). Though I did not like their Strawberry Yogurt Smoothie. The place is really cozy and have a great ambience. Their service crews are very attentive to our needs. Though some of the cakes aren't available yet in the morning. Also, if you order the breakfast menu in lunch time it will cost 510 pesos each instead of the original price. We will surely comeback here 💗

This cafè stays true to their historical ambience in their interiors-- high ceiling, well-lit place, fancy chairs, and a wine cellar. I'd say the place is really a magnificent backdrop for the 'gram. I've read some reviews prior visiting their place that their food isn't that delish. I'd say otherwise. We didn't order a lot but personally, we got a bang for our buck. Too bad, I wasn't able to take a photo of the platter of the spareribs that we've ordered. Nothing so special about that. Just ah-okay. We've also ordered Almond and Floss Bread for takeouts and those too taste okay. The dough was soft. I'll give them that. We'll definitely come back to try their other options in the menu. Ta ta!

1919 Grand Cafe has some of the most accommodating and pleasant staff I've ever met in Manila. Also, there's a guard outside so it wouldn't be a problem for those visiting via bicycles.

It was my first time to encounter the word “Albondigas” (PhP 450) on the menu. I asked the waiter and he said it’s vegetarian balls with pomodoro sauce. Inside, there’s white fungus, potatoes, and mushrooms.

Served fried in a richly tart tomato sauce, these meatless balls are the ultimate comfort food for vegetarians. With a bevy of textures, it’s a healthy adaptation of a classic Spanish dish. Suddenly, I got interested to try creating these myself at home. I found a recipe here. It’s a must-try for vegans!

We were warned that the pizza would take about 45 minutes to serve, so it’s best to order it right away if you intend to. Hence, it was a delight to have the Assorted Flavor of Pizza (PhP 680) on the table before half an hour passed. The four flavors were: cheese, vegetarian, seafood, and Hawaiian (bacon and pineapples).

We each got a thin slice of everything and were thoroughly pleased. The crust was pretty good. It had the exact right balance of soft, chewy and crunchy. Taste-wise, the pizza was perfect on its own, no need to beg for condiments. So yes, it was worth the wait!

Baked Rice Caldereta (PhP 490) is one of the house specialties. Packed with rice and topped with cheese, the baked beef caldereta was extremely flavorful. Showing off savory essence, the beef was tender and lean, while the chopped carrots imparted a balancing sweetness. Order with confidence.

Wonderfully plated with garlic bread, Pasta Negra (PhP 430) or the Squid-Ink Pasta was another striking dish. Imbued with a noticeable brine from the squid ink, the pasta consisted of clams, squid, and shrimp. Each one contributed to more notes of the ocean. Love it!

Crisp, tender, and tasty are probably the best three words to describe 1919 Grand Cafe’s Salt and Pepper Spareribs (PhP 380). These are always a crowd-pleaser as a popular dish in Chinese cuisine. The flavors of salt and pepper seemed to temper and complement each other.

Great place and ambience. Food is very good also. Bit on the pricey side and I found the servings a bit small. But they dont scrimp on the ingredients. Ordered the seafood marinara. Was a little upset because it had more seafood than pasta. Also ordered the cheese pizza. It was also good. Only thing was they put too much cheese that it was too overpowering for my palate. And since servings was small, had to order the carbonara. But will definitely be back to try other items on the menu.

Really good place! I loved the adaptive reuse of the place but the food also doesn't disappoint. It favors quality over quantity. Even the mashed potato side dish doesnt disappoint--tastes heavenly (I hope they have a larger batch to order here). Looking forward to trying so much more here!
