Good food on a very affordable price. Their fried rice with scrambled egg on top is really delicious. Champagne spareribs is also 👌🏻👌🏻👌🏻. Would love to come back and try other dishes on the menu.

My friends and I were resto hopping in Binondo and have been to 3 other restaurants when one friend surprisingly arrived late. He hasn't eaten yet so he and I decided to go somewhere to dine. He suggested Hou Kui. I don't know much about Binondo restos so I just said yes.

We arrived in this old looking simple place (which I liked a lot). No feeling of pressure or whatsoever. He ordered the Oyster Cake that didn't look like a cake, but like oyster balls. I took a bite and surprisingly, took another and more, and this was the best oyster cake I've had so far. Then, the Spinach Soup came. The rich flavor is smooth and soothing especially on a rainy day. Then here came their gorgeous fried rice nicely covered in egg and sauce, kinda like omurice but smoother and better. He also ordered the Champaigne Spareribs which partnered just right with the fried rice.

So I thought I wouldn't be able to eat anymore but I was wrong. Their food is always prepared fresh and in servings good to share. I will surely come back here and bring my family.

Our friend  Dennis "Cookingmasterboy" Lim brought us here to try some of the some of the intriguing and delicious Fujian iimmigrant cuisine you find in Manila's Binondo town.

This Mom and Pop restaurant is in the San Nicolas district, slightly off the grid from Binondo's main attractions and more well-known restaurants. If you have a "guide" like we had, or want to venture out a little further than usual, give this place a visit.

Our opening dish, a soup of freshly made fish ball dumplings in broth and patola and vegetables, comforted us on the hot, rainy day we were there.

Moments later, we had their egg-covered "house" fried rice, ever so slightly smoky from high heat sauteeing. I loved it.

This went super well with their "pipa" rolled tofu dumplings, silky but with an interesting golden covering and a classic glossy sauce. I'm dying to know how they were shaped. This is an awesome dish for vegetarians and vegetarian food lovers.

"Champagne" spareribs were our meaty mains for this meal. They were tender, lemony and simply great.

What a satisfying meal. This is humble cooking made with lots of TLC.

It inexpensive to eat here. Order a lot!
