I rarely give a perfect score. Tonight’s meal at Old Swiss Inn Paco branch deserved it. The personal touch on the service was exceptional, and all three items we had were stellar!
The price points here are on the high side but justified with the quality of the dishes. Mia and I had a taste of beef, pork, and chicken mains.
What impressed me most was the house specialty in Fresh Corned Beef. More than the tender meat is a well-seasoned brisket complimented with sautéed cabbage and boiled potatoes. For varied taste, go ahead and dip the corned beef in either horseradish or mustard.
I also love the flavors of both the Chicken Forrestiere and the Zurich Geschnetzeltes. The former is grilled chicken with mushrooms and peppered gravy in a bed of buttered linguini while the latter is shredded pork tenderloin in mushroom cream sauce, accompanied by lovely roesti potatoes.
I will be back to visit you soon, Old Swiss Inn. I’ll likely go to your Makati branch instead, given its proximity.
The place is pretty dated, but i guess its part of its charm. The cheese fondue is good, it'll be nice if they added the option of adding different items to dip into it. The zurich is a must try
Really appreciated the food and ambiance. The steak I ordered to be medium rare came a bit more rare than I wanted, so docking some points off for that.
The most appealing thing to me about food is combining and layering flavors, tastes, and textures. And eating with cheese is the best element to that. So, when I knew about Old Swiss Inn serving Raclette and now Scamorza, I told my cheese-lover self that I needed to drop by any soonest date. It was just befitting when the Fat Girls Day Out invited me to join them for the launch of Old Swiss Inn's new menu which apparently is also a partnership with Pinkie's Farm.
I really love Old Swiss Inn. Everytime I think of this, I remember childhood favorites like their Fresh Corned Beef, Gnagi and the fondues.
We went to their Paco branch to sample a single serving of Raclette (P548), Black Seabass (P690), Vegetarian Roesti (P200) and for dessert, their famous Dark Toblerone Chocolate Fondue (P650 and free with zomato gold being 2nd highest priced).
Everything was magnificent and makes me want to visit again, not just for the food but for the impeccable service accorded their patrons.
Same old good food! Makati or Manila branch is always the fantastic. You can never go wrong with this one. Crew is nice and helpful. Though in Manila i think they are renovating.
Manila may be both chaotic and crammed, but never dull. New shopping malls are rising next to the slum areas, the poverty and the luxury coexist in some weird alignment just next to each other. Manila may not be famous for its beauty nowadays, but its magnetic energy gives you this special feel, dissimilar and lively in so many ways, it’s a great city to explore even if you only have one day of time.
Good service. They screwed up the reservation I made but eventually made up for it by getting us a comfy seat and giving us a complimentary dessert. The staff was kind enough to consider my requests.
Food was good, but pricey.
had dinner with hubby and friends and satisfied with the quick and friendly service of Ms. Kath. She knows how to make customers feel good when you enter the place, during and after dining.
💕 Date for Two: Chocolate Fondue
💌 Total: P650
Overall: Since the 1940’s, Old Swiss Inn has been prized for this authentic Swiss and European cuisine. They have developed a loyal clientele over the past 70 years, ranging from politicians, celebrities, expatriates, and other patrons wanting a taste of Swiss cuisine.
Chocolate Fondue (P650) – a visit to Old Swiss Inn wouldn’t be complete without having their chocolate fondue. This heaven on earth specialty features Toblerone Chocolate and pure cream. We had milk chocolate but there were two other options – Dark Chocolate and White Chocolate.
A platter of marshmallows, cake bites, and slices of fruits were also included in this set. Long forks were also provided for ease of dipping.
One dip and one bite showed us the Swiss’ passion for chocolates, every bite was delightful and captivated our hearts over and over. It was a nice ending to an enjoyable lunch.
Value for money: Worth it!
#DateForTwo at Old Swiss Inn
Had a nice business dinner with a regular client and not just a client but a good friend. I normally go to this restaurant in particular with this client due to his strong family history and the generations in his family that have been coming to this restaurant(s).
One of the most popular dishes had to be the Shrimp and Bacon Pasta - spaghetti noodles tossed in olive oil and basil, with bacon and shrimp and a pinch of chili. Again both restaurant chains really have mastered this dish to perfection. So if u want a noodle based dish and come here this is a must try.
My father took us here for my birthday. He said this was one of the more secret food havens. We ordered the Angus Prime rib and it did not dissapoint. It was perfectly done, and the seasonings were just right and did not mask the taste of the meat. It came with a sauce which had lots of pepper, bell pepper and tomato, i believe. It brought a fresh new taste to eating steaks but honestly, the steak on its own was good enough for me. They serve the angus beef ribs with angus rice(or other side dishes) and a plate of sauteed vegetables.
The Old Swiss Inn really takes you back with its medieval decorations and setup. The food is nice, some are so so food, some are very delicious.
US Black Angus Prime Rib - one of their bestsellers, really tender and succulent and you can also taste and feel the smokiness in the steak. They also serve a big slice so you will get your money's worth. The rice side dish was also very tasty which matches that of the steak. The gravy was filled with pepper, mushroom, and tomato flavor that went great with the steak.
Peppersteak Swiss Inn - a signature dish of the restaurant. Very tender and flavorful. The meat was already packed with flavor that you wouldn't even need gravy or steak sauce. Also has a side dish of fries. Small serving given the price. It would have been better if they served a bigger portion to be able to enjoy the flavors of the steak.
Fresh Corned Beef - a so so dish in terms of flavor. You would think that it's just like ordinary cornbeef if not for the big serving and tender meat.
Chicken Forrestiere - it was an okay dish. The mushroom in the pasta is very tasty, so was the chicken. But its's a dish you can have anywhere, nothing too special about it.
Classic Caesar Salad and Swiss Inn Salad - very fresh and healthy. I liked the Swiss Inn Salad more because of the chicken, egg, and ham toppings and the cheese. Also a big serving for its price.
Others: Bread and Butter - they serve bread and butter as an appetizer (this is free), tasty bread but the butter has no flavor.
Overall, The Old Swiss Inn is a really nice place to dine, especially because of its ambiance and decor. I would like to come back here again :)
Dining here is like travelling back to the memory lane (literally including the smell)... Food are so.. So... Except the all sausage platter its great!
