Sipa (deep-fried pork dumplings), sweet chili prawns, embutido (Filipino-Spanish sausage).
So lucky that the head Chef/ owner of this restaurant, Chef Jay Obsequio is a good friend of the person that I was with, and upon chatting with him, realized that he was good friends too with some of my colleagues at work; he entertained us very well and was so nice to give us a generous discount. Perks. Small world lol.
Onto the food. Their specialties are stuffed squid and sipa. Wasn't able to try the squid as it was already sold out when we came in. So sipa--I've tried lots of fried dumplings before but this one was especially good. The wrapper was thin and with the perfect amount of crisp; the pork filling was tasty and with a distinct vinegary taste. A real must-try. The sweet chili prawns have a very good sauce, just bummed out that the prawns were a little overcooked. The embutido was really good too, packed with flavor. And their "special sauce" was special for a reason. Over all, good restaurant and affordable too.
Introduced the family to this classic hole-in-the-wall chinese restaurant that used to have other branches in the metro but now is only located in this area. They don't have a menu so you would have to get help from their personnel. Ordered several dishes plus 4 cups of white rice and it only cost me just a little over a thousand pesos which greatly surprised the wifey. She said that given the taste and quantity of the food we ordered it was well worth looking for this place.
My favorite here is their sipa and garlic rice. They are also famous for their stuffed squid. We also tried their spareribs and kikiam but it was just average.

Wok Inn became my favorite Chinese go-to! Sort of pricey for its ambiance but the food is worth it!
Try their bestsellers: the squid and sipa!
It's a restaurant that you can bring your family and friends to enjoy a great meal, everyday! Nothing fancybut the food is like having a home cooked meal. No strong msg taste. Their sipa is definitely something to come back. Their dipping sauce is super... you want to drink it instead. The stuffed squid is deliciously unique. Service is fast except during rush hours.
No menu so if it is your first time you may feel uneasy since you have no selection - over all good food and affordable. Downside will be the restroom.
This has been our go-to place ever since whenever we're in Manila. It's an eat & run kind of place and you will always leave feeling satisfied. We always order their sipa, buttered chicken, mixed veggies, salt & pepper spareribs, crispy shrimp & stuffed squid---never fails!
This is a great, no-fuss Chinese restaurant that's way worth the money you spend here. My mom brought us here since she used to go here a lot with my dad when they were in residency training. 🤗
The place is pretty simple, which is probably one of the things people like. There's no air conditioner and it's almost a carinderia-style place. It's probably that kind of ambiance that keeps them going back that's why this restaurant still stands. We ordered the stuffed squid, the scallops in chili sauce, yang chow fried rice and their famous 'sipa' dumplings. I have to say I am very impressed with the flavors. My favorites were definitely the sipa and the stuffed squid. The sipa already looks so adorable and they do not skimp on the meat inside. ❤️ the stuffed squid has this nice, sweet, but savory flavor. I can't really describe it too much but it was heavenly on the palate. 😍

I've been going to this place ever since I was a kid, and I never get tired of it. My faves are the sipa, stuffed squid and buttered chicken. The food is seasoned really well, and is served piping hot. The interiors of the place remind me of home, and of my lolo, since this was his fave resto. Will always keep coming back here.
I thought of having brunch here today so I could have my clam soup. I got here before 11am. Had my usual sipa, clam soup, stuffed squid, fried shrimp and yang chow fried rice. Everything tastes the same. Straight forward no fancy style of cooking. I only spent Php 840 for everything. The staff has always been very accommodating and friendly.
A lot of memories when I came back here last Saturday. Growing up my family and I would head here during those instances when we would opt to attend Sunday mass at the Malate church. It was just like the good old days. No pretentions, just good food and compared to how it was before much better service now.
Ordered the default favorites: my dad's favorite Sipa, mom's favorite Vegetables with Seafood, my favorite Stuffed Squid and my sister's favorite Buttered Chicken who sadly is abroad and cannot be with us.
It was just how I remembered it. There are no menus, the people who are regulars basically order from memory. We started with the corn soup and it was piping hot (i hate it when i get served soup and they don't burn my tongue - that's just how i like it), although I have had better in other restaurants. Their version of stuffed squid is something you can only find here - it was perfectly cooked, although the sizes of the squid were smaller compared to how it was back in the days (when they also had a branch in Park Square Makati). Filled with spring onion and a touch of ginger, it was perfect with the sweet dark sauce it went with. The sipa is filled with meat, spring onions, carrots and marinated in dark soy and sugar - perfect with the soy vinegar dip. You can actually catch the servers wrapping them in one of the dining tables in the corner. The vegetables were perfectly cooked and the crunch went well with the fresh seafood. The buttered chicken I have to say is hands down the best I have tried. Smothered with onions and soaked in margarine (I swear it was star margarine), it was obvious the cook knew exactly how to fry 'em chicken without making it too tough. I got too excited and burned my tongue because it was just too good.
Would I go back again? Most definitely. More than the memories of my childhood, this restaurant cooks up dishes that you simply can't find anywhere else. We ordered all that plus a medium sized fried rice (and added a small sized extra order of rice since we were on a roll that day), the damage was just Php 1,054.
This hole in the wall has been around for decades. Highly recommended is the Sipa and stuffed squid. If you are looking for ambience , this may not be the place but if you are looking for easy on the pocket yummy food, this is the place.
Ordering here is quite unusual since they don't have a menu. What they have is a display of all the meat they can offer including seafood. They will, more often than not, suggest some dishes or you can go by however you want your meal cooked. This took hubby by surprise. Since I was a frequent visitor there back in my college days, ordering was a piece of cake. We got the following all time best sellers in a zippy--
> Sipa
Deep-fried Dimsum, these babies with sweet and salty meat fillings, carrots, turnips and ultra strong Chinese flavors were (in hubby's terms) awesome. Honestly, I am not so sure what else is inside, bringing in the usual saying: "What you don't know inside makes it the more tastier and interesting", but I assure you that this is a must try! The name, obviously, came about because each piece looks like a "SIPA" which used to be a popular game among children before the dawn of this [digital] age.
> Pancit - Long Life
Made up of Pancit Canton, meat of sorts, vegetables and shrimp mixed in their special Chinese (pronounced as: tsa-neees) sauce, this dish was named as such because apparently, Pancit Canton signifies long life. In any case, this Pancit version was [noodles-suckingly] delicious and really tasty.
> Fried Stuffed Squid
Another famous dish here, the sauce (for me) is key. Squid that had been stuffed with spring onions (or so I think) and then deep fried to perfection, making it crunchy on the outside but still soft and (hubby says squid-gum) chewy inside. It was then drenched in this thick and a bit spicy soy-based sauce with a hint of sweetness peeping out of it.
This hidden gem situated beside Malate church will surely make you wanna go back. The place has this homey vibe and the "paluto" type of resto will give you more of that homey feeling. You may choose which among the fresh catch and you may decide how you want it cooked. There is a glass window between the dining and kitchen area which I find entertaining seeing the food being tossed on the woks. The food is in between chinese and filipino cuisine. Best you order their famous sipa and squid with sweet sauce. The food is affordable too :)
I have always liked the food here. I remember craving for their Pata Tim for an entire year. I always arrived late, with their doors all shut closed already. Apart from the pata tim, the stuffed squid and the spare ribs were also good. Most of the staff have been here for years, and they're all really nice. The place isn't that clean, though.
I love the food here, especialy the sipa. We have been eating here since (i think) 1992, still the same taste and very affordable. Will definitely come back for more.
Indeed you can find the best eats in Malate because of this place. I grew up going to church in Our Lady of Remedies, after mass we'll just cross the street to have dinner here. The staff will treat you like you're family just like how they remained like family to the owner. The people I saw when I was little are still the people serving at present.

Service: Quick. Polite.
They don't really have a menu. They have a kitchen. Where you point at things and ask what they can cook using those raw ingredients.
Haha. Or, kung kabisado mo na, just order. Their salt and pepper spare ribs are good (minsan medyo hindi ganun katender). Stuffed tofu is akso good. Broccoli in garlic.
But what we really go here for, aside from those above, is the Sipa. Fried dumpling na korteng pang-game of sipa.
(Personally, what I go here for is just the sipa sauce. Yung sawsawan. Iniinom ko sya. Bad, yes, pero ganun sya kasarap. Just the right amount of saltiness-sweetness-spiciness. Pati yung chili garlic sauce nila. Inuulam ko naman yun. -- Noggy)
Again, problem here is the parking. But there is a kuya across the road that will allow you to park on the road, tas babantayan nya. We've been here dozens (baka more) of times and, so far, okay naman :) And you can tip him any amount you like :)
Been dining here with my family for the last 2 decades. You should expect more people dining during sundays since its beside Malate Church. They serve and and cook fast thats why people come and go. Their food, for me, hasn't changed eversince. I always come here for their sipa which is so good. You should also try their buttered chicken, fried squid heads and spareribs. I would definitely recommend this to those looking for authentic and affordable asian/chinese cuisine.
After the panliligaw moves (food delivery to the barrister) of my best friend, he decided he was hungry. (This, after acing hacking Cibo's Penne Al Telefono zzz he made a better version of it actually.) We were strolling around Malate & decided to eat at an old time favorite place. Being the chef, he ordered Wok Inn's best seller Sipa. A fried dumpling with an almost asado-ey minced meat filling that will remind you why you have to hit the gym the next day cause you inhaled the dumplings as soon as it was served. Buttered chicken, pro tip: STAR MARGARINE IS GOOD FOR YOU. Lol jk, k. Sarap. But wait, there's more! We had Fish & Tofu in Tausi Sauce, Chopsuey, and Yang Chow. Judging by how we all acted when the food's almost finished (how we would secretly spoon leftover sauce on our rice or pagsisisimot ng kutsara) it felt like we have not eaten for days, ganun kasarap! Our orders came in fast enough too! Observant Servers, they'd fill your water glass if it's half empty already. Although downside, ofcourse, Wok Inn c'mon take it easy on the betsin. When we walked out of the place, we were kite-high. We were so sleepy but I don't know if it's because of our gluttony or the fact that we may or may not have eaten like 5-7 sachets of tagpipisong MSG from the sarisari store. If you're ready to eat cheap GOOD FOOD go to Wok Inn so you could Wok out high & satisfied. See what I did there? Lol ok sorry.
Upon entering the restaurant, the whole place, as we initially saw from the outside, was packed with families, groups of friends, and different sorts of folks enjoying their lunch.
The staff welcomed us and instructed us to place our orders first since there were still no seats available when we arrived. We headed to the cashier section to ask for the menu and the staff told us that they don't have one and directed us to the far end of the restaurant where there is a display of food.
Their Sipa is my favorite! Wrapped in wanton wrapper and deep-fried, these babies with sweet and salty ground meat filling, turnips, carrots, and a distinct Chinese flavor were just awesome. I am not sure what else is inside, the consistency of the filling was kind of slimy, but this dish is a must try! Mark and I both loved it! It also comes with a dip, which I think is a combination of soy sauce, vinegar, and sugar, which made the Sipa more delectable.
Wok Inn is just a simple restaurant without any grand furniture and fixtures. But the place is well-lit, clean, and air-conditioned. They kept their business simple, not being swayed by the technological advancements and the modern world, and was still able to keep up with the competition. Their superb service and affordable and good food are what I think really kept the business alive and kept the people coming back. :)

We've been hearing that Wok Inn is a must-try place in Malate area, so we decided to find it out ourselves. Upon entering the place, we caught this casual vibe that makes the restaurant non-intimidating at all. However, there's not much that you'll enjoy with the interior.
You will then be toured to the ingredients section, where you can pick out things that you find interesting together with the style of cooking you want them to apply. Now, most of the dishes we had tasted great (well except for the pansit which was rather plain).
My experience here in Wok Inn was enjoyable, but it may be insufficient to make me crave for it again.
From the baptism of my brother (he's 15 years old now) up to this date, we visit this place every once in a while and it's still the same: simple yet delicious food. Fast service and kind employees. If you haven't tried this place, go for it.
Our favorites: sipa, mixed vegs, buttered chicken (moist fried chicken that I ever had), stuffed tofu. 👍
This place was recommended to me as one of the less pretentious but authentic Chinese fast food restos in Metro Manila. Although the place doesn’t look very clean and hygienic, the food tasted surprisingly good!
My favorites would be the Hot & Sour Soup (rich, and filled with small chunks of tofu, mushrooms, carrots), the sipa (fried minced pork dumpling, make sure to eait it with lots of soy sauce!), and the pansit (noodles were cooked just right and very tasty).
We also ordered the Stuffed Squid and Oyster Cake but I found them just okay.
This place brought us so much joy and surprises.
The food tastes great and the price are just right. I love the Stuffed Squid, Kikiam and Mixed seafood. The sauce of the squid and kikiam are perfect.
I'll definitely come back for more. Such a small place but filled with great food.
I've been eating in this place since, pre-school (which was 25 years ago). My family, most especially my late grandmother loves to eat here, and so my Dad brought us here when we were little, until now, whenever we have the time and cravings, we still visit this place.
Food: For me, nothing beats there stuffed Squid and Nido Soup. The stuffed squid has this amazing sweet spicy sauce. It has always been on our list ever since. My dad loves their Sipa and Fried Rice, My mom always orders the sweet and sour or Mixed Seafood. My brothers all time favorite is the Kikiam and Camaron Rebusado. I just love their food so much.
Place: The place has always been like that since I can remember. They did a few renovations though. A bit cramped but clean. Parking space may become a little bit problem, as they do not have their own parking space. You can park in front of the establishment or around Malate church.
Service: One of the servers there has been in that restaurant for decades already. Well, they are polite and service is fast.
Affordable Chinese cuisine, which will always remind me of my childhood.
There are honestly no words to describe how much I love this restaurant! My family and I have been eating here for as long as I can remember. This is our go-to restaurant every Sunday. The staff are pretty much family and the food really hits home.
Their service is great and it only takes less than 20 minutes for your food to get to your table. Though it's sometimes hard to get a table here during Sundays especially after the afternoon and evening mass cause a lot of people eat here for lunch and dinner. Since they serve their food fast, some people are able to leave as soon as they finish eating so it only takes a few minutes before a table can already be available.
As for the food, our favorites (and the only ones we pretty much order) are the Sipa (dumpling like dish with pork inside it), stuffed squid in oyster sauce, buttered chicken, spareribs, halaan and crispy squid. I've noticed though that they usually don't give you a menu so you can see their list of food items. If you're a first timer and/or not sure what to get, I suggest you just ask them for their bestsellers. Or you could just order the ones I recommended above hehe. :)
Wok Inn is still around! I have not visited this resto in years! So when we found ourselves in Malate, I immediately decided to let my teenagers get the Wok Inn dining experience. I even told them that the resto was older than them and I had first eaten there when I was still in college. We ordered all my Wok Inn favorites- halaan soup, sipa, crunchy shrimps, fish fillet and calamares. The taste has not changed. The food was so simply prepared and there lies the resto's authenticity.
The TripAdvisor seal of approval on its door is proof that Wok Inn has strongly weathered the changing times and is here to stay. :)
I love eating here and its so near the workplace and i consider it a feat not to be there everyday! Its not much to look at inside, but the food is so good that who cares about the decor.
Since we're a regular, our order is the usual too. Mixed Vegetables, Sipa, Camaron Rebusado (too die for!) and of course lots of rice.
Everyone should try their Sipa, a fried dumplings with minced pork inside and when you dipped it in their soy sauce-vinegar combination, its heavenly!
The first time I ate here, it was pretty confusing. They didn't have a menu and just pointed us to the kitchen and asked what we wanted. We just stood there, staring at all the ingredients and just wondering "what now?"
It's a good thing they suggested the sipa, and judging from what everyone had on their tables, that seemed like a good start.
Their sipa is great. Sure, you might think that it's just fried dumpling but how it melds with their sipa soy sauce? Pretty awesome. The buttered chicken squid are pretty good too.
had lunch there with rio mercado, last jul 18. she was the one who took me there instead of our original plan to visit yakimix@moa. rio ordered shrimp in chilli sauce, stuffed squid and Wok Inn's best seller - sipa. they served us soda in cans, rio's sarsi burst when she opened it and the waitress dutifully replaced it, which also burst when she herself opened it.
the food was great for p700+ (2 persons) and diners kept on coming in tho' it's already past 2pm. cant help myself from burping, grabe sa busog, hope to be back soon.
