One of the best ramen houses in Cebu! One defining difference from the other ramen houses in Cebu is that they are using chicken broth as their base.
one of the best ramen and gyoza in cebu
I have been here multiple times craving for their curry katsu. It is very filling. Although a little pricey but worth it. 🔥 i have also tried their ramens, it is very flavourful, 1 ramen is good for 2 people already because the noodles are many and thick. I cannot finish 1 whole bowl of ramen, i always leave soup behind because I would be bursting from the noodles already. Their karage is also good. Good for pairing it with ramen. I love the crispyness of their katsu. I'll probably go back soon for their katsu again. Haha
I love how authentic their ramen is. I was going to eat at Yushoken but the place was jam-packed! When we saw this place a little farther from Yushoken, it was a great decision. Didnt leave my taste buds hanging.
One of the best ramen houses in Cebu and the best Karaage I’ve tasted ever!
I love this place because it felt like Ichiran - not in taste, but they are open until 5AM. And the japanese cocktails are pretty good. The ramen selection is really good too.
Favorites in the menu: ramen #1, tori karaage, mango sochu
I always come to this place after hanging out late at night with my friends.
Uodate: tried their Tsukemen. It’s good too! They have this promo wherein you could order large serving of noodles for the same price.
If you want to taste the Miso flavor without feeling overwhelmed you should definitely try Number 1. But if you want more seafood flavor in it, you should opt for number 4, the thick broth is so heavenly! Perfect paired with Gyoza. Oh! And there noodles is chewy! A must eat restaurant!
Another beautiful spot for ramen enthusiasts out there. The place is small yet homey. The price is reasonable. Staff are friendly and very much approachable. Their ramen to my surprise is above average. Ordered the sho-yu ramen and it's a delight. It's not heavy and pork is cooked so tender that it melts in your mouth.
Their gyoza however is disappointing. It's super wet that it breaks even when you pick it up. Aside from that, the rest of what I was looking for was great.
I can say that this is one of the best Japanese restaurants in the metro. Their food is authentic, for me. Even though the place is small, it felt homey. We ordered the Tori Paitan and it's so good. Their gyoza, fried potato, chicken and kimchi were also all very delicious. I would visit this place again and again.
Went there at 2:30AM on a Saturday morning after work as it was open until 4:00AM. I ordered the house specialty with the chicken broth base paired with gyoza. I found the ramen delectable but felt I was wanting more fattiness. I realized I was just so used to getting pork broth as base, similar to what I had in Shibuya. The chicken collagen is a good enough substitute if you are wanting the healthier option. The gyoza though is absolutely tasty and perfectly cooked. My companions ordered the chicken karaage and rice (forgot what you call this japanese mixed rice). It was both filling and delicious.
Service was swift. Probably because we were the only customers.
Menu is not as comprehensive but if you are coming from a party and drunk or slightly drunk, the ramen choices would suffice. If like us, right out of office work, the operating hours are absolutely convennient.
Happy to note they do serve japanese liquor and beer at that late hour.
It is worth a visit if you are looking for a more authentic meal at 3AM. 👌
I think i may have found my new favorite ramen house. It's different from the usual pork bone soup which i find too rich for my taste. I tried the tori paitan, and it's just the perfect richness of ramen i'm looking for.
Ambiance - Location is quite inconspicuous, 25-seater restaurant with an open bar slash kitchen and a second level for development to a karaoke bar. The place is simple, cozy and a bit packed on peak hours. Great for a quick meal or relieving hangovers.
Food - The place serves authentic Japanese Ramen. A must-try bestseller and my personal favorite is TSUKEMEN, a cold noodle with vegetable and meat toppings, side chicken collagen soup and dip. Quite complicated and time-consuming to prepare as the collagen undergoes an overnight sous vide with secret spices. ABURA SOBA is like an improved version of our Lucky Me Pancit Canton while HIYASHI CHUKA is their own version of dry noodles. Other side dishes include the GYOZA (pork dumpling) and KARAAGE (fried chicken fillet). For your drinks, try out ASAHI and KIRING beers from Japan.
Service - The staff greets everyone in Japanese. The open kitchen is quite entertaining to look at during food preparation. You can quickly catch the attention of the crew since the area is small.
Price - Quite expensive. A bowl of ramen costs 350ish. Side dishes at 150ish with small servings.
SUMMARY: Interesting place to experience a wide array of authentic Japanese Ramen. Avoid late nights or dawn since the place would be full of drunk customers. Not so family-friendly, perfect for barkadas though.
Ramen places is popular here in Cebu and these places are often visited by younger generations are part of their love of ramen and their food trips. Located in AS Fortuna, the food strips here are growing exponentially with rise of coffee shops and restaurant, and Hamakaze Cebu Japanese restaurant is one those establishments..
