LOVED my experience in Gyu-Kaku! Great quality of all food, from vegetables to meats to dessert. The serving size is just right as not to overwhelm you. Great service as well, great ambiance, and good price point.

A+ for having a smokeless grill, you wont smell after dining in! ;)

For only P799 (for adults) and P599 (for kids 3ft and above), you get to choose from a wide selection of appetizers, salads, soup, meats, side dishes and of course, dessert. I was actually so glad that they have dessert as a lot of restaurants running these type of promotion normally would omit dessert out of the menu.

It’s been a long time coming! Finally, a premium meat quality restaurant with All You Can Eat Meat! Yup, you read that right it. We hope you are all very excited because in this edition of EATSplorations, we will be sharing about the Yakiniku All You Can at Gyu-Kaku in Shangri-La Plaza! Yes, finally, after a long time waiting for it. Gyu-Kaku now has a meat-all-you-can promotion for both its loyal customers and first-time diners. To those of you who don’t know yet, according to their website, Gyu-Kaku, meaning “Horn of the Bull” in English, is an authentic Japanese Yakiniku (grilled barbecue) dining experience where customers share premium cooked meats over flaming charcoal while drinking various Japanese drinks.  Anyways, we know you are already very eager to find out the important things about it so we won’t keep you waiting. Here comes our Yakiniku All You Can EATSperience at Gyu-Kaku!

I don't get the hate this restaurant is receiving. The service is actually good. Food is great. I don't even need to point out the great interior of the restaurant.

I was not sure about eating here because of their extremely low ratings on Zomato but thought of giving it a try after looking at the few happy diners inside. Well, glad I did since the food was delish! We ordered Beef Croquettes (Php 145), Pork Scallions (Php 110), Asparagus and Bacon (Php 110) and Ishiyaki Udon (Php 295). Loved the small plates that they offer - it’s pricing and quantity is just right for you to try out different items when you are eating alone/ just 2 people. The udon was delicious and good for sharing post all the appetizers. The food here tasted better than a lot of other places I have been to, service was prompt too! So, I guess the previous low ratings were due to availability issues in the past. I am yet to try out their charcoal grils though. However would highly recommend the appetizers!

My friend and I were so hungry from all the school work we did that’s why we decided to have a heavy lunch. We wanted to eat grilled food. For us Charcoal grill is better than the grill that uses gas that’s why we decided to try this place even if it had a 2.0 rating here in Zomato. Upon entering this place, we were quickly ushered to our seats.
We ordered Harami beef,Brisket and Chicken thigh. All were tasty but we liked the Brisket the best. Servers were attentive but it took them quite a long time to give our bill.
All in all, food is good, ambiance is nice and service needs improvement.

I have passed by this restaurant many times before whenever I am around Shangri-La's newer wing. I really miss it because of their high price points. It was different last week when I got it at 50% off, thanks to their partnership with Eatigo app.

Their rating at 2 is probably the lowest in all the restaurants in Zomato and that also scared me a bit to dine here altogether. Upon reading, most of the former review sentiments were the unavailability of items. I was fortunate that they had all I wanted. So anyway I sat and gave them a piece of my buds and mind.

I got two types of grilled meats, marinated differently. First was Harami (United States origin), lean and thin, seasoned with miso. I liked this one as it was tasty and easy to chew. The other one, Chicken Thigh Fillet, dressed with tare, was quite bland and not as appetizing. I also got a platter of seasoned vegetables. All of these raw items were cooked for me by the staff, which I appreciated.

Maybe Gyu Kaku will close soon or maybe you can give them another chance?

Date night was awesome in Gyu Kaku. Our server did a good job in helping us with our orders, how to cook it, and what menu items would be the best. The food was yum. Meat craving satisfied. I loved the spinach salad: spinach was crisp and fresh, dressing was spot on. Udon was on the sweet side, but it was savory enough I didn't mind. I had higher expectations from the lengua though, or maybe I overcooked it?

Perfect place if you’re looking for a place that serves good Japanese BBQ and a nice ambiance to go along with your dining experience. Many have been disappointed with their serving size, but in my opinion its just right. It will allow people to try more. I love their Tofu Avocado Salad and beef. I didn’t like the salmon because it’s sweet. Overall, I had a wonderful dining experience here.

Considering the number of choices here at the Shangri-la Plaza, I'm not sure why we chose this place. Honestly, I liked the wagyu because the meat and the marinade were really tasty and tender. Aside from that, don't come here for the service. For tea and water, we had to call and remind the waiter at least 4 times. On a Thursday night, the place was not even busy, there were only 3-4 tables occupied.

Japanese bbq and grill is something i look forward to, though i always expect the same taste as the others. But when we got here, to my surprise the beef brisket is soo good that 1 order of large is not enough for me and my fiancé. The seafood plater is not worth it for the price but the oysters taste soo good! The spicy bbq sauce is not that spicy for me. I will go back here for the beef brisket, thats for sure.

Great food and service as always. What a great way to spend Father's Day. Aircon in Shang was down so it was quite hot but food superb. Meat was fresh and salad was something else!

After walking around looking for somewhere new to have dinner, J settled on Gyu-kaku because he felt like having real meat (that means wagyu, steak, or grilled meat). We’ve dined at Gyu-kaku before at their BGC branch and we were disappointed at the small amount of meat we got with our expensive order. But J was feeling good and wanted to have yakiniku, so we gave Gyu-kaku another try.

It was our second time to dine at Gyu-kaku. It is a bit pricey but good for occasional splurges.

We got the Gyu-Kaku Fuku Set which costs P3,595++ and I recommend getting this kind of set menu rather than ordering items separately. The first time we had dinner at Gyu-kaku BGC, we were dismayed at how small the servings were. One order of meat is just 1 small mound. Bitin talaga. So, the second time around, we knew what to expect and ordered the set menu that is supposed to be good for 3-4 persons. But in reality, it's only good enough for 2 hungry adults :) possibly 3, but definitely not 4.

Check out my pic of the plate with the 4 meats - notice how small each mound is - that is how much you will get for one order if you order ala carte. Each mound is equivalent to 1 order of meat. I'm not being negative, I just want you to know what to expect.

We got a good variety of dishes for our meal. I am always a fan of having several dishes in a meal. There’s meat, there’s fish, there’s vegetables, rice, and even mushrooms. The flavors of each dish is different enough so we didn’t feel like we were just eating different variations of the same flavor.

I like the interactive nature of the yakiniku meal. We had fun grilling our meats and panicking when our meats were getting overcooked or were turning into charcoal! hahaha.

They have house tea. We didn’t need to order any additional drinks. Service was also prompt and cheerful.

Cons: Expensive. And some meats were not available so they had to replace them with something else.
It seems some meat items always run out early. We encountered this problem both times, so be warned and get to the restaurant early.

It’s a good place to go when you feel like splurging though.

Will we go back? Possibly, but not too often. The meat is quite good and well-marinated. The Horenso Salad was really delicious. But it's not some place we can splurge on every weekend because just one meal for 2 is easily P4,000. During our first dinner there, we spent close to P1,500 and bitin pa talaga, we thought our order would be enough for 2 people, hindi pala. So you have to be prepared to spend when you go. Was the P4,000 meal worth it? Yes, it was, fortunately. I think we got a better value with the set menu vs. ordering dishes separately.

If Japanese is your thing, you can’t go wrong eating at Gyu-Kaku Japanese Barbecue. In addition
to the wonderful food, the quaint interior and superior staff truly transform this establishment into one of the most awesome restaurants in the metro. Gyu-Kaku's dining concept will surely thrill your date as you try your hand in cooking your meals, "yakiniku" style. Each Gyu-Kaku's tables have built-in grills if the customer wants to cook their meals themselves. Gyu-Kaku is considered as the biggest yakiniku restaurants in the world, so you can also be assured that all ingredients are from the most superior standards and meticulously-inspected meat and vegetables before it's served to guests for premium freshness and quality. Show your significant other that you can take the challenge of cooking up a mean barbecue, try dining at Gyu-Kaku. While you're there, I recommend you try the Tofu Steak, Spicy Karubi Ramen and the Crispy Pork Belly. I particularly loved the Spicy Karubi Ramen. Even if you're not fond of spicy foods, you'll appreciate this one. Don't worry it may look really hot and spicy because of the soup's red color, but I can assure you, it's easy to tolerate the spice because it tastes just right--with just a little kick + some sweetness on the soup. The ramen noodles are what Japanese refer to as "moshi koshi" or アルデンテ, I'm not quite sure of the term but the wheat noodles tasted al dente--a bit chewy yet easy on the palate. Eat here with your special someone, especially if she's into anything Japanese.
