Mary Jay

Ambiance is good and food is served well. Value for money is also good. I would recommend to add more parking space in for dine in customers.

Mary Jay Restaurant has been operating since then, even since I was a kid. It's a common reception and restaurant in Malabon City where you can celebrate weddings, baptismal, or even after a Sunday mass. Last Sunday, my family celebrated the Mother's Day here. The place is big, it has a second floor which is also spacious. Unlike before, the ambiance is cozy, it's cooler and the staff were well dressed (they wore a brown Chinese dress/attire).

We arrived there at 5 PM. There were a few groups/families that time. The staff immediately assisted us to our tables though they forgot to give us the menu. I asked for it. Service was good, they even managed to give us a groufie. It became populated (6-7PM) and it became hard for us to even get their attention.

We ordered Crispy Pata (P620.00), Lumpiang Shanghai (P180.00), Buttered Chicken (P250.00), Pancit Canton (P170.00) and Plain Rice (bowl - P180.00). The Crispy Pata skin was crispy as usual though some parts were hard to chew. The meat was soft. The dip was sour but I like it. According to the staff, the serving ia good for up to 5 person but he advised to eat it with other dish. The Lumpiang Shanghai tastes good. It was easy to chew and even without dip/sauce, it was tasty. The Buttered Chicken was a bit ordinary. The buttery taste was just mild, you won't taste it. Each serving has 10 small chicken parts. The Pancit Canton has generous serving of vegetable toppings. As a whole, the pancit serving was small. The taste can be improved. Their bowl of Plain Rice is big enough.

Our bill reached P 2K+. It may seem pricey compared to other restaurants/cafe nearby. The staff gave us two stubs for the photo booth. The photo booth is their extra for the Mother's Day. Thumbs up for that. As we go to the booth, we noticed that the Mary Jay restaurant has a large venue to celebrate an occasion in private. I never knew Mary Jay restaurant is that big. Also, Mary Jay restaurant has improved a lot.

I never regret we celebrated Mother's Day here and dining here is recommended.

This review has been long overdue and I should have done this a few months ago. We decided to order food here for our Media Noche last December because I was too lazy to cook. We are a small family anyway so I thought I might as well just buy some good food.

We ordered the following:

Crispy Pata - it tastes similar from the the all time favorite of Malabonians Jamico's Pata and  I find it bigger too! I honestly did not find any difference so if you guys want some good Crispy Pata in your belly, then go here!

Lumpiang Shanghai - It's nothing special really but it taste better than what Chowking offers and that's a good thing.

Chicharong Bulaklak - oh my goodness this is my personal favorite. Try this!

Pansit Canton - I solely believe that I can cook a good pansit too so this doesn't blew me away.

Calderetta - A bit disappointed with their caldereta to be honest. I find it bland and plain.

Yangchow Fried Rice - You might think that it is expensive but I would say it isn't bad because the serving is so big it would be good for I guess 5 people or so.

I like the fact that they accept advance orders. The restaurant itself is still looking pretty cozy despite the age of it.
