My team and I were having a full day on the field and we chose to have a pit stop here at SM Jazz. Casa Kuchina just opened, and with their friendly price points, we sat and ordered here.
They offer almost like a cafeteria set up, serving Filipino lutong bahay style and some selected Chinese Szechuan cuisine.
We were three hungry souls and we got 5 different dishes plus classic Buko Pandan for dessert. My top pick would be their Daing na Bangus, as it was fried to perfection with a strong combination of smokey and citrus taste.
I also likened their version of Stewed Duck with Taro. This was a well-seasoned lean meat with a nice mushy sweet root crop. It’s a steal at Php 250.
We also got Sinigang na Baboy, which was too fatty; greasy Sweet and Sour Fish Fillet and overly bitter Ampalaya with Egg. These three were not a big hit for us.
For refreshments, my team got our own tall glass of really sweet Sago and Gulaman. I wonder why almost all restaurants serve this drink with so much sugar.
Casa Kuchina may not be as popular as other Chinese restaurants but it stands well alongside its competitors. Khris and I were recently looking for a quick, budget-friendly yet delicious dinner at Jazz Mall when we spotted Casa Kuchina while we were about to give up with our search. We have tried most of the restaurants at Jazz Mall and we did not want to settle with another fast-food dinner.
We got our unit here in Jazz Residences and this is our “to go” place to dine
Breakfast - havent yet tried. Heard it was okay.
Pancit canton/ bihon guisado - 4/5 (hindi dry, malasa)
Lomi - 4.5/5 (marami, mura, masarap na pwede na)
Lechon kawali - 4.8/5 (palaging inoorder. Sa halagang 135 sobrang mura, marami, busog ka na, extra rice levels siya)
Grilled liempo - 3.5/5 (pwede na, manipis, okay na, medyo malaki pero yun nga manipis)
Buttered chicken - 4.5/5 (200 pesos wala kasamang rice, pero marami siya pang dalawang taong mataba, masarap din, palagi to binibili, I personally inoorder ko palagi either ito or lechon kawali or both pag gutom haha)
3 cups chicken - DONT ORDER. Bland. Matigas chicken.
NEVER ORDER yung vegetables nila, yung ampalaya, pinakbet, laing (wala na ata sa menu nila to), hindi worth the price mas masarap pa lutong bahay TBH.
