This growing HK Roast restaurant used to be my go-to comfort food after a tiring day of work, but after an incident back in May, I swore to myself that I would never go back. I resorted to writing a scathing review. Since then, I'd look at the place with melancholy. However, about a week ago, the co-owner of the restaurant reached out to me. He sincerely apologized for what happened and also expressed remorse towards the fact that it took a while for him to reach out to me. After explaining what he's been doing to improve the quality of service his restaurant provides, he then implored me to give Tai Koo a second shot. While I was hesitant, his sincerity convinced me to give the restaurant another try. After treating me and my colleagues for dinner, he further expounded on the story of his restaurant and the challenges they faced as a whole. After the dinner, I'm glad to say that they are slowly winning me back. While there is a lot of room for improvement, I believe that Tai Koo is pushing itself to surpass the quality of service and food it provides. If you're at the Podium or Salcedo Village, I recommend that you try them out. Their food doesn't fail to leave me with a filled belly and a full smile.

Good place, but very less portion vs price. Must try is Brocolli with Burnt Garlic and Oyster sauce.

Craving for that HK roast pork, char siew, soy chicken and duck? Fret no more, as Tai Koo is here to save you from that craving. They specializes on those mentioned food with affordable rice meal sets and combinations of your preferred meats. For this particular visit though, I noticed they have launched additional items on their menu such as sweet and sour chicken, beef with X.O sauce, pork humba and fried chicken.
I liked their fried chicken as it is crunchy on the outside but juicy on the inside. It was seasoned well too.
Most of the people who knows me would know I love sweet and sour dishes to death and I have quite a high standard for it. Fortunately, I liked Tai Koo's version as the sauce was of right balance between the sweetness and tanginess. More so, I specifically liked its crunchiness. The pork humba goes well with rice especially its sauce. Lastly, as for the beef with xo sauce, the beef was tender and goes well with the xo sauce on top.

Authentic Chinese Food 💖
The food tastes really good, plus it's one of the affordable restaurants in the area. The service is fast and they have kind and approachable crews.

We got to try Tai Koo plates. Each 'plate' consists of your choice of roasted meat (wagyu beef, white chicken, roast pork belly, soy chicken, or Hong Kong style roasted chicken) and it also includes fried dumplings, buchi, soy egg, garlic bok choi, Chinese sausage, and steamed rice, so you can say each plate is really filling (though it's good for one heavy eater like me). I like the Wagyu Beef, and the Roast Pork Belly (which I find it so Filipino). That salty and crispy pork skin got me! The White Chicken is quite bland that's why you need to add some ginger or soy sauce/calamansi. The Soy Chicken was savory and a bit sweet. I like it as well. At some point, I kept on munching the fried siomai (I don't know why, I like it haha).

Price point is average and I think it was reasonable. Tai Koo definitely belongs to my list when I look for roasted chicken and other Asian cuisines.

Was able to sample a lot of their dishes. Tai Koo highlighted one of the recent additions to their menu: Tai Koo Plates.

Sulit serving of your choice of viand/protein + a generous side of rice, 2 pcs fried siomai, soy eggs, bok choy, sausage, and buchi! All for under ~Php300!

Everything was so flavorful, down to the sides. But my favorite(s) would have to be the roast pork belly and beef wagyu plates. The three-meat plate is also a great option bec you get to try 3 kinds of protein in one sitting.

Their Tai Koo sauce is delicious and was a great addition to the meals. Had a nice consistency and really elevated the flavors of the dishes. 👌🏽

Presentation was nice, but they have to work on touch-ups before serving because the plates were very oily. The oil streaks/marks really distract from the beautiful plating and make it seem messy.

Ambiance was alright. Had a slightly fastfood-y vibe to it. On-street parking available outside the resto but difficult to find a free spot.

Finally tried here at Tai Koo, Salcedo branch. It's a HK-inspired restaurant specialized in roast and dimsum dishes, owned by locals! For those who like Hong Kong cuisine, Tai Koo's one of the best options out there. So if you're craving Cantonese food within the area, try this one out. Here's the food we tried so far:

Dimsum:
✨ Fried Gyoza - This 4pc-gyoza is quite small but it got a right balance of meat and veggies inside.
✨ Hakaw - Love this! The shrimp was cooked just right and the wrapper's smooth and not thin enough.
✨ Fried Sharksfin - Sulit, this crispy-dumpling had juicy meat inside. Definitely a must-try!
✨Chicken Feet - A must-order!! A piece was big enough to satisfy your dimsum-cravings.
✨ Bacon Siomai - Haven't had the chance to try this one. It looks sinful but appetizing.

Rice Toppings:
Tried the platter that comes with rice, buchi, sausage, egg and bok choy. Very sulit for less than P300. Recommending any of this but favorites are CHAR SIU and SOY CHICKEN toppings. It got the right amount of sauce, and it's good for sharing if you're getting some dimsum on the side.

Wagyu Beef is different from the legit wagyu beef, don't expect much but you'll still like it 'cause it's beef and rice, and Tai Koo had a different (but good) take on how it's cooked and served. Had white chicken too but it had a bland taste, good thing there's more sauce to dip it in. Pork belly was so-so.

Milk Tea (P68) - Happy with this drink but would love to have pearls or jelly in it next time. Not bad for a P68-drink though.

Tai Koo HK roast is a must go to place when you crave for HK roasts like duck, chicken, pork and many more. I first tried this in serendra and occasionally through food panda. With a very affordable price you will be able to taste all the cuisines from ricebowls, to dimsum and many more. Also, their milk tea is good. It does not feel “sugary” though I recommend it to have a stronger taste of the tea, to make it more authentic in taste, since the sweetness is already perfect, it is not the typical super sweet milk tea. It is quite refreshing. Overall, will always be part of my to-eat list.

Lunch time.
Decided to try this place - Tai Koo HK Roast, a few steps away from the Salcedo Saturday Market.
We were three so we ordered the Assorted Roast Platter:
White Chicken - with ginger sauce
Soy Chicken - good to pair up with soy sauce with calamansi & chili oil
Pork belly - drizzled with its own sauce. Panalo! Crunchy skin & the meat is tender
Char siu - still find it sweet for me
Duck - for the win!
Milk tea
Sprite

Good food.
Good service, very accommodating for our extra request of ginger sauce, more iced water.
The cashier even offered to take our family pic.

The price? I think we save on costs in ordering the platter rather than the rice meals or a la carte. We got to try each of their best sellers. There were few pieces left for our dinner.

Pag nakapunta ka na sa Hong Kong, parang lasang kalye na mga chinese / hong kong food dito compared doon. Etong Tai Koo naman nakaiiba! Akala ko nasa Central ako eh lintek nasa Salcedo lang pala ako. For the price masasabi ko bawi ka. Ubod na mas mura pa kesa Hong Kong. Heto pa, open 25hrs pa yung Tai Koo branch na eto! Oo tama pagbasa mo, 25hrs. Saan nanggaling yung extra 1 hour? Try niyo nalang Tai Koo para malaman niyo. No photos ako, check niyo nalang instagram nila.

Tai Koo is your answer to roast cravings when suddenly you remember your trips to Binondo, Singapore, and Hong Kong. This spot in Makati is also one of the more affordable stops for lunch and or dinner. Their location gives you a vibe of street food but this time with much comfort and accessibility.

We had a taste of all their popular roasts. These were Roast Duck, Roast Char Siu, Roast Pork Belly, White Chicken and Soy Chicken. Each of these meats was marinated for days, giving it a balanced flavor regardless of bite. I love the Roast Duck the most, it was really tasty and lean for a change.

Our table also got dimsums that they serve here. We had two types of Siomai, Pork and Japanese style; Shark's Fin Dumpling and best selling Hakao or Shrimp Dumpling. All of these are only between Php 68-88 only.
