ordered a yakitori to go set thru grab. i like it, kaya lang super salty. from the chicken thigh, pork belly, chicken wings to the dip all salty.
This restaurant seems intimidating due to its location and the crowd. But I was wrong. Their food items are quite affordable. Had their Crispy Salmon Maki at Php 120 for 6 pieces. So good! What surprised me was that they serve Breaded Chicken Skin for Php 150. It was served with Ponzu Sauce that has a vinegar-y flavor. Will surely come back to try their grilled specials.
What we had:
Bucket of assorted local beers + chicken skin
Tonkotsu Rice Bowl
What we loved:
This place is near our office and we headed there pretty early so we got a table before the place can get really full. Their bucket of six assorted local beers comes with free chicken skin so that was nice. It was cooked to a perfect crisp and was very flavorful. We had dinner there too and their rice bowls were pretty affordable, starts at Php175.00 I got the Tonkotsu rice bowl and I enjoyed it. My friend also liked her grilled chicken rice bowl. Serving size was enough to make you full.
Been there a couple of times when my girlfriend was still working here in Makati. The best and most accessible place for yakitori cravings. Missing this..
The staff were great and accommodating. The food was also good, though the watermelon tasted a bit off for me. My favorite thing about this place is that they have free japanese mayo. For other Japanese restaurants ive been to, you still have to pay for mayo. Totally love it!!
I am not really a yakitori fan, mainly because i can't justify the size of a skewer and the price. However i would try it again for their lunch set and see what they bring to the table.
There are a slew of Japanese restaurants now that mainly focus on a dish. If you are coming from a Yakitori experience you had in Japan or just plainly wanted to try Yakitori, Nanbantei is the place to be whether you pair a yakitori with rice or beer.
#shallireturn to Nanbantei Yakitori Bar?
I absolutely love this place. I usually take my lunch late in the afternoons and that’s when it doesn’t get crazy and you have the place all to yourself. It is on those moments where you truly appreciate the taste of your food. I ordered their assorted yakitori lunch box. It has 2pcs maki, 4 different types of all meat yakitori, japanese rice, and several fruit slices. It truly represents the go, grow, glow food pyramid 😂 i also ordered edamame (got my veggies there) but I think it’s too pricey for its volume. I also complained about how few their broth is in their miso soup. I asked GM Michael regarding it and he gladly obliged to add more to my satisfaction. Since the place was almost empty and I was the only customer, my food was served fast. Can’t say the same on prime time hours though. Now the best part! Happy hour from 3pm to 10pm! Check out my photos for the available drinks.
Attended an event at The Curator Cafe, and was pleasantly surprised to see that Nanbantei Tokyo catered the event. What better way to celebrate the sakura blossoms of Japan but with authentic Japanese food!
We were treated to maki and skewers of Nanbantei Tokyo's chicken yakitori and asparagus wrapped in bacon. The chicken was tender, flavorful and succulent. I highly enjoyed the asparagus wrapped in bacon.
Can't wait to go back and enjoy more of their full meals and yakitori soon!
Their yakitoris are the best! Everything tastes so good. Favorites are Aspara Maki (P120), Beef Yakiniku (P180) and Pork Yakiniku (P115). Tried the Yakitori Sampler (5 sticks) for just P220, super sulit!
