Good ramen and portion. The restaurant focused on items that can be served with quality and freshness. No fishy taste and fishy ambiance like there neighbor restaurant.
Been frequenting Kikufuji over the past 10yrs or so then moved to Hatsu Hana in Herald Suites across the street after Kikufuji has turned into a crazy commercialized Japanese resto. Then today, decided to try Shinjuku. Sashimi and Mixed Teppanyaki all good. But the Pork Rib ramen is a masterpiece and must try! Ultra tender pork ribs in a rich shoyu broth. I dont think you will taste anything like this in any other ramen place.
Since I was young, our family’s staple in Shinjuku are : Gyoza, Yakisoba and Marbo Tofu.
As I grew older, I learned to eat and savor different kinds of Ramen. Shinjuki serves HUGE ramen bowls.
For this visit, we ordered Kani Salad which has cubed mangoes, cucumber, shredded kani and lettuce. It provided a refreshing start to a filling Japanese dinner.
Of course, a Japanese meal for us will never be complete without Gyoza. Shinjuku’s has so much feeling, and a wrapper that has wrapper with just the right thickness. Perfectly crispy bottoms and cooked meat inside.
The Ebi Sugatayaki is a first for me. Imagine being a served a sizzling plate with a big whole squid. It’s also served with mixed veggies on the side.
The ebi tempura was also a star. The coating is just right. Large shrimps, eh! Perfect!
