It was a busy day in the office once again and I need to adjust sometimes on my food adventures outside of my real work. Two days back was New Bombay lunch, my go to Indian food all these years. There is one near my building, walking distance, that I use to frequent.
I got Chicken Tikka Biryani for one of my mains, a hefty serving of basmati rice mixed beautifully with Indian spices of cumin, cinnamon, cayenne, black pepper, ginger, lemon, and salt. There was ample white meat that came with it too. It was mildly spiced and went well with my order of Mixed Dal, a lentil filled the bowl that was soupy and tasty.
For an appetizer, I opted for Malasa Fry Pappadum, a crispy and well seasoned fried bread. It was accompanied with a salsa-like combination of tomatoes, onions and other spices. I loved this texture, quite addicting.
Nice location, All curries have same kind of taste. But all in all authentic indian food. Price bit overrated as compared to other restaurant at same location.
Quite a staple nearby place for my spicy curry-loving boyfriend and I. The artisanal furniture sets are definitely eye-catching and adds royalty feels to the dining experience. Service crew may be a bit slow at times but they are nice.
Recommended dishes: chicken vindaloo, naan (with any curry), shrimp biryani, mixed vegetable soup, yello lentil soup, chicken roganjosh
good service with delicious indian food.. we really like this place for hanging out.i like mostly paneer dishes and chicken. i always prefer naan n i tried every naan all are delicious and well cooked.
New Bombay is my favorite casual dining Indian Restaurant. If you have friends coming from India getting homesick and looking for a not so fancy authentic dining experience in the metro, New Bombay is the place. Its safe it hits the right notes with their Masala, Tandoori and Rouganoush and its reasonably priced.
I was with friends, and we decided to order a few dishes and share: Vegetable Samosas, TIkka Masala, Tandoori Chicken and a type of Chicken Curry (forgot the full name). We ate it with rice and some chappati, and washed it down with yogurt shakes.
The servers are attentive, and the one assigned to our table asked ever-so-sweetly if we would like the spicy version of our dishes. There was a resounding 'yes' all around--- and 15 minutes after the food was served, we started whistling and sweating from the heat! :)
Everything was absolutely delicious and tasted authentic. The samosas were served with a sweet tamarind and a coriander sauce (divine!). The yogurt shakes come in sweet, salty and many other varieties. Take the sweet, it is a perfect contrast for any meal.
There are a lot of restaurants near the building where my office is located. New Bombay is literally a stone's throw away, and you wouldn't miss it due to the pungent aromas coming from its location.
New Bombay serves authentic Indian cuisine. I personally am not a fan of Indian food, but I immensely enjoyed eating at this one.
We had samosas dipped in mint sauce and a bit spicy sour tamarind jelly. The samosas were packed with flavored chickpeas and veggies, down to the very corner of that little packet of goodness. Very filling so I suggest to just take one as a starter/appetizer.
The Madrasi curry was, as expected, hot and peppery, paired with any flavored naan or chapatti bread.
The naan and chapatti were also perfect, thick and beautifully burned at all the right places.
The biryani rice was as fragrant as it was delectable, and brimmed to the top with all spices and flavors of India you can imagine.
That was a not so shabby lunch out of the confines of the office, I must say.

Ordered delivery for dinner.
Flavors: plain naan was (Php75/pc) velvety soft, Chicken tikka masala (Php285) and tandoor prawns (Php265). Best delivery food I ordered (prices above are estimates - can't find the receipt, 10% additional is charged for delivery cost). Authentic and reminded us of this Indian restaurant we used to go to almost on a weekly basis in Hoi An (Viet Nam). We truly enjoyed the sauce of the Chicken masala - they can adjust to your liking- not spicy/ medium/spicy. The chicken was sliced in good sizes. Orders go with mint dip, chutney and some spices for those who can take more spicy dishes.
Will definitely do this again.
Tama nga ang mga scientist when they said "Indian Cuisine is one the best delicacies on Earth. Biryani alone here is enough to make your day. Place is cozy and so Indian-esh. Salamat!
Just order anything and you'll leave happy and full. The ube shake was so good. My favorite is their fish curry! It was creamy and savory, a must-try!!!
