My third time here unfortunately lost my other photos. Highly recommended: Tinapa Rolls, Barbistek and Bagnet/Pinakbet meals. Their food is savory at very affordable prices. I love when restaurants serve really good food without ripping off the customers. Even their iced tea is delicious. Ambience is cozy, clean and spacious. Service is excellent and yes I will definitely go back again.
Good value for money, good food, and friendly staff. Don't let the current low rating discourage you from trying this place out, I have nothing but good things to say, and I am very picky. :)
Amazing Filipino food with a twist, friendly service and nice neighbourhood atmosphere - a great place for excellent local food at a very good price.
We went with a group of friends last week. Despite the fact that we were 20+ people the food came quickly. But the biggest surprise of the evening was the taste... refined, balanced, sometimes with a twist, beautifully presented... we could not have wished for more. Together with the food with had local draft beer "Engkanto", very tasty. Will definitely come back to this place.
Nice food and atmosphere and good service. laing and beef caldereta are excellent as well as the roĺls. draft local beer and excellent ice cream, local as well. recommended if you happen to be in the area.
I was on my way to get some grub when I noticed this new food joint (well, maybe not so new - they opened in June 2017).
It was raining hard... and I was very hungry. I went in and I ordered the Bar-bistek, Karekare (side), and Tinapa rolls (side). It took maybe 10-15mins for the food to be ready. Papi's did not have wi-fi so I read on my phone while waiting. They serve faster now, thank god.
The Tinapa rolls were great, with large chunks of tinapa, salted egg, and an assortment of herbs and tomatoes in perfectly crisp rolls - Hot off the pan and served with spiced vinegar dipping sauce. This is easily my favorite out of everything I ordered and is the reason I keep coming back.
The kare kare lacked...ooomph. Although the veggies were still crisp and it had very generous portions of goto - the sauce was a deal breaker for me. It was an orange sauce that tasted meh - probably the prepared powder type that comes in a packet. But this might have been just a fluke as every other dish I got since has been excellent.
The Bar-bistek meal was good. I liked that it was thin shortplate cuts of skewered marinated meat.
Since my first visit, I have tried:
Beef Caldereta - fork tender beef and the potatoes and carrots were fried separately to add that extra layer of flavour.
Tinolanese - pretty good. A different take on the usual Tinola.
Sinigang na bagnet - Nice, big chunks of bagnet
Nilaga - Nice, big chunks of beef.
Laing - generous pcs of shrimp. Good flavour.
Homemade corned beef - not my favourite. This is a miss, flavour wise.
Pakbet and bagnet - True to Ilocano cooking, generous serving of bagnet.
Servings here are generous and all value meals come with a glass of iced tea. Food is excellent and staff is attentive and friendly. Diners will find that Papi's gives you the best bang for your buck.
A quaint resto.
The ambiance is like the carinderia type but the food & service is great.
I ordered Kaldereta, Tinapa roll & Bagnet.
One thing though. The appetizer came in last but it was piping hot.
The Kaldereta was good, the beef tender.
The Bagnet was crispy, you could hear the crunch.
Thanks to Metrodeal, I was able to go to this place.
